I believe the last Olympic Games still in our memory.It’s really a big honor for Chinese.And there were countless people had worked much for it.Today I want to talk about one woman who has contributed a lot to the Olympic bid of Beijing.Please look at the little girl, could you guess who she is? Actually, it is not easy to guess.Because she has changed a lot.And she becomes more and more attractive.Who she is? Yeah, Yang Lan!She has been ever one of China’s fifty most successful business leaders and she has been described as being “bigger than Oprah”.Well known to one billion viewers.And now she is the chairman of Sun Cultural foundations.Yang lan, I think this name is very familiar to Chinese now.As follow, I will talk about some of her special things.^_^ Yang Lan Profile: Yang Lan，Born in Beijing in 1968 Yang's mother was an engineer, and her father taught English literature at Beijing Foreign Studies University and sometimes served as the official translator for former Chinese Premier Zhou Enlai.Absolutely, she grew up in a well-bred home.But for Yang Lan, she was’t a confident girl by birth.Even in her college time,she still often had the mood of inferiority.Expecially when she couldn’t catch up with others in the english listening class.She was so gloomy that her mother has been worried about her for a long time.Fortunately, she improved her listening step by step.And she encuouraged herself to be a hostess of English evenings.YangLan learned her first experience on the stage from hosting the English evenings.In 1990, worked as a host in CCTV Yang Lan began her career as the host for the popular “Zheng Da TV show”.She was only 21 at the time and had just graduated from Beijing Foreign Studies University.Becoming the host of a show with an audience of 220 million at such a young age was a big challenge, but Yang Lan was ready for it and quickly became popular.In 1994, she got the 1st Golden microphone of host in China(中國(guó)第一屆主持人“金話筒獎(jiǎng)”)

Many of us would probably have stayed on to enjoy the fame and money that come with being a TV star, but Yang Lan left the show after four years and went to New York City to get a Master’s degree at Columbia University of International & Public Affairs.When she was studying abroad, she produced a feature show called “Horizon”.The show introduced American popular culture to Chinese viewers.Here are some of her experience: In 1997, joined in Phoenix TV In 1998, workesd as producer and host of Yang Lan’Workroom Her program was known widly in Chinese!In 2000, created the first satellite TV of historical cuture in china her rich experience inspired her and she made up her mind to create a new kind of TV station for Chinese viewers.And she decided to develop her interest in business.Together with her husband, Wu Zheng,she started her own media company--Sun Media,which with the theme of culture.Sun Media got remarkable achievement in disseminating Chinese culture, enhancing the communication and cooperation among the international Medias.And she probably became China's wealthiest self-made woman.Her fame spreaded widely.In 2001, she was appointed one of the image ambassadors of Beijing in its 2008 bid in January and here is the speech she used in the Olympic bid.Mr.President, Ladies and Gentlemen,Good afternoon!

Before I introduce our cultural programs, I want to tell you one thing first about 2008.You're going to have a great time in Beijing.China has its own sport legends.Back to Song Dynasty, about the 11th century, people started to play a game called Cuju, which is regarded as the origin of ancient football.The game was very popular and women were also participating.Now, you will understand why our women football team is so good today.There are a lot more wonderful and exciting things waiting for you in New Beijing, a dynamic modern metropolis with 3,000 years of cultural treasures woven into the urban tapestry.Along with the iconic imagery of the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and the Great Wall, the city offers an endless mixture of theatres, museums, discos, all kinds of restaurants and shopping malls that will amaze and delight you.But beyond that, it is a place of millions of friendly people who love to meet people from around the world.People of Beijing believe that the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing will help to enhance the harmony between our culture and the diverse cultures of the world.Their gratitude will pour out in open expressions of affection for you and the great Movement that you guide.Within our cultural programs, education and communication will receive the highest priority.We seek to create an intellectual and sporting legacy by broadening the understanding of the Olympic Ideals throughout the country.Cultural events will unfold each year, from 2005 to 2008.We will stage multi-disciplined cultural programs, such as concerts, exhibitions, art competitions and camps which will involve young people from around the world.During the Olympics, they will be staged in the Olympic Village and the city for the benefit of the athletes.Our Ceremonies will give China's greatest-and the world's greatest artists a stage for celebrating the common aspirations of humanity and the unique heritage of our culture and the Olympic Movement.With a concept inspired by the famed Silk Road, our Torch Relay will break new ground, traveling from Olympia through some of the oldest civilizations known to man-Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Byzantine, Mesopotamian, Persian, Arabian, Indian and Chinese.Carrying the message “Share the Peace, Share the Olympics,” the eternal flame will reach new heights as it crosses the Himalayas over the world's highest summit-Mount Qomolangma, which is known to many of you as Mt.Everest.In China, the flame will pass through Tibet, cross the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, travel the Great Wall and visit Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the 56 ethnic communities who make up our society.On its journey, the flame will be seen by and inspire more human beings than any previous relay.I am afraid I can not present the whole picture of our cultural programs within such a short period of time.Before I end, let me share with you one story.Seven hundred years ago, amazed by his incredible descriptions of a far away land of great beauty, people asked Marco Polo whether his stories about China were true.He answered: What I have told you was not even half of what I saw.Actually, what we have shown you here today is only a fraction of Beijing that awaits you Ladies and gentlemen;I believe that Beijing will prove to be a land of wonders to athletes，spectators and the worldwide television audience alike.Come and join us.Thank you, Mr.President.Thank you all.Yang Lan was appointed one of the image ambassadors for Olympic Game.At that time, her little girl came into the world only 2-months.But she accepts the task without any doubts.In fact,that was the second time she got the great task.The first time is in1993, but it turned out to be failed.And she went back home with tears.Though she was very busy as the chairman of sun TV, she spent a lot of time to get ready for Olympic bid this time.Her spoken english was fluent enough in other’s eyes.But she still practiced the pronunciation and tone of every word again and again.Moreover, she collected a lot of information about Olympic bid.And she also had read much athletic sports books.She was really conscientious.To our delight, she performed perfect.The International Olympic Committee members were overpowered by her perfect speech,her fair-sounding voice, her graceful quality.She was worthy of a communicator between china and the external world.In 2005 ,she was appointed as a member of international Advisor Commettee of Columbia university

Her electronic magazines: 《瀾 LAN》、《Her Village》and《Star Mook》 In face, she had got a lot of awards ,but I cann’t list all of them out.And now, she is still busy in her career.She keep on interviewing celebrities,organizing charitable events.But in the other hand, she takes good care of her families.That is to say, she keeps the balance between career and family very well.She is the perfect image of the modern women in china or even among the world.And she is worthy of a super star.My presention is over.Thank you for attention!

The story is divided into three phases of Pip's life expectations.The first

“expectation” is allotted 19 chapters, and the other two 20 chapters each in the 59-chapter work.In some editions, the chapter numbering reverts to Chapter One in each expectation, but the original publication and most modern editions number the chapters consecutively from one to 59.At the end of chapters 19 and 39, readers are formally notified that they have reached the conclusion of a phase of Pip's expectations.In the first expectation, Pip lives a humble existence with his ill-tempered older sister and her strong but gentle husband, Joe Gargery.Pip is satisfied with this life and his warm friends until he is hired by an embittered wealthy woman, Miss Havisham, as an occasional companion to her and her beautiful but haughty adopted daughter, Estella.From that time on, Pip aspires to leave behind his simple life and be a gentleman.After years as companion to Miss Havisham and Estella, he spends more years as an apprentice to Joe, so that he may grow up to have a livelihood working as a blacksmith.This life is suddenly turned upside down when he is visited by a London attorney, Mr.Jaggers, who informs Pip that he is to come into the “Great Expectation” of a handsome property and be trained to be a gentleman at the behest of an anonymous benefactor.The second stage of Pip's expectations has Pip in London, learning the details of being a gentlemen, having tutors, fine clothing, and joining cultured society.Whereas he always engaged in honest labour when he was younger, he now is supported by a generous allowance, which he frequently lives beyond.He learns to fit in this new milieu, and experiences not only friendship but rivalry as he finds himself in the same circles as Estella, who is also pursued by many other men, especially Bentley Drummle, whom she favours.As he adopts the physical and cultural norms of his new status, he also adopts the class attitudes that go with it, and when Joe comes to visit Pip and his friend and roommate Herbert to deliver an important message, Pip is embarrassed to the point of hostility by Joe's unlearned ways, despite his protestations of love and friendship for Joe.At the end of this stage, Pip is introduced to his benefactor, again changing his world.The third and last stage of Pip's expectations alters Pip's life from the artificially supported world of his upper class strivings and introduces him to realities that he realizes he must deal with, facing moral, physical and financial challenges.He learns startling truths that cast into doubt the values that he once embraced so eagerly, and finds that he cannot regain many of the important things that he had cast aside so carelessly.The current ending of the story is different from Dickens's original intent, in which the ending matched the gloomy reverses to Pip's fortunes that typify the last expectation.Dickens was

prevailed upon to change the ending to one more acceptable to his readers'

tastes in that era, and this “new” ending was the published one and currently accepted as definitive.Dickens has Pip as the writer and first person narrator of this account of his life's experiences, and the entire story is understood to have been written as a retrospective, rather than as a present tense narrative or a diary or journal.Still, though Pip “knows” how all the events in the story will turn out, he uses only very subtle foreshadowing so that we learn of events only when the Pip in the story does.Pip does, however, use the perspective of the bitter lessons he's learned to comment acidly on various actions and attitudes in his earlier life.
