      五、比賽規(guī)則

      (二)“明年我就……歲了”該怎么說?birthday suit 是專為生日宴會準備的禮服嗎?怎么形容那些party 開到一半就開溜的人?答案盡在下文。1.I am turning 23 tomorrow.明天我就二十三歲了。

      英文里講“到明年幾歲了”有一個固定的說法,就是要用 turn 這個動詞,而且多半是用現(xiàn)在進行時 be turning,因為有將要、即將、未來時的含意在內(nèi)。所以同樣這句話如果你說:I will become 23 tomorrow.雖然文法上沒錯,但聽起來就是怪怪的。

      2.She is in her birthday suit.她什么也沒穿。

      大家看到這個 birthday suit 可別以為是單純的特別為生日準備的服裝喔!一般人們講到 birthday suit 時,指的是什么也沒穿。原因是人出生時是一絲不掛,所以 birthday suit 指的就是你出生時所穿的那套服裝,也就是裸體的意思。

      3.You are a party pooper.你真是掃興。

      玩得正高興的時候,有事必須要先走,這樣的人就被叫做 party pooper。什么是 party pooper 呢? 有兩種解釋,第一種就是指那些很掃興的人,比如說人家要玩游戲你也不玩,別人說笑話你也不笑,這種人就是 party pooper。另一種就是指那些 party 開到一半就中途開溜的人。
