本書寫了一個(gè)不平凡的人——哈利波特。他一出生就擁有了與巫師“伏地魔”作斗爭(zhēng)的標(biāo)志……一道形如閃電的疤痕。那是一道非常厲害的魔咒的余痕，因此他的父母就被這個(gè)名字都不能說的巫師——伏地魔害死了。他只好到巫師所謂的麻瓜家族里，也就是人類家族去。在那里他借住在他姨媽家，一直受到他姨夫姨媽以及他表哥的欺辱，度過了一個(gè)非常委屈的童年。
