      今天晚上花了兩個多小時,把《喜福會》(The Joy Luck Club)這本小說看完了。之所以看這本書,其實只是因為公選課需要讀這本書的關(guān)系,但是當(dāng)我讀完了之后,發(fā)現(xiàn)這本書其實還是很不錯的。雖然在公選課的經(jīng)典書單里面這本書不那么經(jīng)典,但是我覺得比起其它的書可能這一本反而要更加接地氣一點。

      這本書里面設(shè)定了四對母女,而書中的故事基本上就是圍繞著母女之間因為代溝產(chǎn)生的矛盾展開的。這些故事之中有的關(guān)于成長,有的關(guān)于婚姻,但是我覺得這些故事無疑都圍繞著一個關(guān)鍵,那就是女人的幸福。書中的四位母親,都是成長在戰(zhàn)爭年代,有的富有有的貧窮,但是都因為機緣巧合有了人生的轉(zhuǎn)折,來到了美國。她們不懂得怎樣說一口流利的英文,但是卻希望自己的女兒們能夠在這里走向成功,獲得幸福,不會走母親們的老路。這種強烈的、帶有中國傳統(tǒng)色彩的愿望,與從小成長于美國文化的女兒們身上產(chǎn)生了巨大的碰撞。女兒們大都能夠理解母親們的苦心,然而卻不能夠接受他們母親的想法。以至于他們都陷入了困境,然而在母親的幫助下,又再次收獲了幸福。

      書中給我印象頗為深刻的大概是母親們的故事。比如說琳達(dá)擁有對自己的強烈追求,而用自己的智慧獲得了自由;又比如安梅見證母親的命運而對自己的命運有著強烈的掌控欲望,這種不向命運屈服或者更直接的說不向男人屈服的特質(zhì)最終遺傳到了她的女兒露絲身上。而祖孫三代,也代表了從屈服、覺醒到抗?fàn)幍娜齻€階段。比起女兒們的故事,母親們的故事更加奇異更加特別,也更加發(fā)人深思。

      然而這本書也并非完美。在我看來,作者采用了分鏡頭的方法,每一章都可以看做一個簡單的故事,而所有的故事又隱隱有一條線索穿行其中可以讓它們聯(lián)系在一起。這樣的寫法現(xiàn)在漸漸流行了起來,比如說非常熱門的《冰與火之歌》。分鏡頭的寫法固然可以讓故事不斷切換到第一視角,讓故事敘述更加方便而真實,但這種方式也造成了讀者閱讀的困難。尤其是其中有一些事件發(fā)生的時間并不明確,導(dǎo)致了故事間的因果也不甚清晰。所以這也可以說是這本書的一點瑕疵。

      除此之外,對于我來說,或許還有一點不滿意的就是這本書的中譯本。這譯本給人的感覺過于生硬,感覺譯者對中美文化間的差異與相似沒有深入了解,翻譯技巧也有一定的不足。導(dǎo)致不少語言上的妙處需要注釋來點出,損失了原文的趣味。當(dāng)然,我還是很愿意再讀一讀這本書的原文或者其他的譯本。

American English.At first , it is a little difficult to understand the reason for these words.However , through the whole novel , in fact , you will find the old woman represents the four mothers , the feather of swan embodies the hope of mothers for their daughters.These sentences show implicitly the feelings of author and her understandings for mothers.In fact , in the Joy Luck Club , the feather indeed is gained by Jingmei Woo.And from the beginning to the end ,the feather has been existing.Only if one high-quality novel , like a perfect verse , needs you spending much time reading once more , you will understand something.I thought that the novel is loosely plotted and is in disorder.But the fact verifies that I am wrong.Through the whole story , the novel begins with the death of Jingmei's mother and ends in Jingmei visiting China to see the twin-half sisters whom her mother had been forced to abandon when the Japanese attacked China many years ago.What's more , in detail , the stories of four mothers and four daughters have relative connections in theme about love between them and the mothers' hope for their daughters.And the theme shows the comflicts and harmonization between different cultures.Then I think why the author titled the novel “ Joy Luck Club ”.I am puzzled by it and the purpose of writer.The name of club made mention of by Jingmei's mother.And the       大福晉:瓜爾佳氏,清廷責(zé)任內(nèi)閣大巨裕成之女。生有長子舜铻、五子舜锫,長女舜錦、三女舜鈺。

      二夫人:張氏,安徽桐城人,康熙保和殿大學(xué)士張廷玉后裔。生有二子舜镈、三子舜錤、四子舜鏜、六子舜針、七子舜銓,二女舜镅、四女舜鐔。

      三夫人:陳氏(作者的生母),北京人,貧民出身。生有五女舜鈴、六女舜鏝、七女舜銘(作者葉廣苓本人)。

      金舜铻:長子,國民黨軍統(tǒng)高官,1949年去臺灣,20世紀(jì)90年代末病逝于臺灣高雄。

      金舜镈:次子,國家一般干部,“文革”期間自殺。

      金舜錤:三子,文物鑒定專家,生子金永日。

      金舜鏜:四子,一般工人,生有三子。

      金舜锫:五子,無業(yè),1947年在北京后門橋凍餓而死,留有一子金瑞。

      金舜針:六子,早殤。

      金舜銓:七子,畫家,有一女金青青。

      金舜錦:長女,著名京劇票友,嫁北平偽警察總署署長宋寶印之子北平德國醫(yī)院副院長宋家駟。

      金舜镅:次女,嫁袁世凱管家沈致善養(yǎng)子沈瑞方,生有一子兩女。

      金舜鈺:三女,北平中共地下黨員,1947年遭國民黨殺害。

      金舜鐔:四女,中國古建專家,有一子一女。

      金舜鈴:五女,國家干部,初嫁金世宗二十九世孫完顏占泰,后改嫁王姓局長,有三子,讀后感《《采桑子》(葉廣苓的自傳小說)讀后感》。

      金舜鏝:六女,協(xié)和醫(yī)院護(hù)士長,退休后從商,任某公司董事長。

      金舜銘:七女,作家(作者本人)。

      鄧友梅的序酣暢淋漓地寫盡了我的感觸,那也是我的感觸。以下轉(zhuǎn)載在此。

      評論家發(fā)明“京味小說”一詞已有多年,我一直沒弄明白其界定標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。我猜除了“用京白寫京事”之外,還必須得有點“味兒”,不然怎么叫“京味”呢?按這標(biāo)準(zhǔn),近年亮相的年輕高手中,有兩人作品我讀著最解渴:袁一強寫的京杠房別無分號;葉廣芩寫的老宅門兒自成一家。一俗一雅。俗得不粗卑,雅而不拿捏,不易!

      葉廣芩的“京味小說”多取材旗人上層。不是九王多爾袞進(jìn)北京或乾嘉盛世時的貝勒貝子,是宣統(tǒng)退位廢了黃帶子砸了鐵飯碗的旗主兒們。

      大清皇帝為保江山不落外族之手,進(jìn)關(guān)后多次頒布旨意,要把粗獷剽悍、騎射見長而文化落后的滿洲一族改造得既通經(jīng)史翰墨又富尚武精神,專事統(tǒng)治事務(wù);一面發(fā)給鐵飯碗使旗人生下來就無衣食之虞,同時禁止他們務(wù)農(nóng)經(jīng)商學(xué)手藝,斷了他們從俗的后路,只留下習(xí)文練武,入考場或進(jìn)教場一條路。篩選后尖子走進(jìn)高層統(tǒng) 治集團;一般的仍留旗下做保衛(wèi)大清的基本隊伍,但一改進(jìn)關(guān)前目不識丁的傳統(tǒng)。變成識文斷字有文化的巴圖魯了。舉個例子,“單弦岔曲”的風(fēng)格意境、遣詞用字 在北方曲藝中最為高雅。就因為它是八旗兵丁軍旅中的“業(yè)余創(chuàng)作”,所以也叫“子弟書”。可見早在乾嘉之時,滿洲旗兵的文化水平已為綠營兵望塵莫及。

      有一利必有一弊。享有衣食、教育特權(quán)的同時,八旗子弟就漸漸生疏耕織漁獵等勞動技能。幾百年后大清朝一垮臺,特權(quán)一喪失,才發(fā)現(xiàn)后學(xué)會的本事?lián)Q不來口糧,換口糧的本事又都不會了,一下子從人上人跌落到了窩囊廢地步!于是從民國初年到抗戰(zhàn)期間,京、津等地出現(xiàn)了一個奇特的群體:有文化沒職業(yè),有教養(yǎng)沒技能,衣著寒酸舉止高雅,手不能提卻能寫對聯(lián)畫畫,肩不能挑卻能拉山膀起霸。只可惜書畫還不到賣錢水準(zhǔn),唱做仍停留在玩票階段。他們對人有禮貌,說話有分寸,文墨有根底,舉止有風(fēng)度,窮愁潦倒卻又目空一切,有的漢人就帶著不友好的情緒說他們“倒驢不倒架兒!”坦白地說,多年的階級矛盾、民族隔閡,使一些漢族同胞心里存有偏見,對旗人的處境往往嘲笑多于理解,鄙視多于同情。我小時就聽過不少挖苦旗人的笑話。成年之后我結(jié)交下旗人好友,對他們有了深入的了解,才悟到這是一場殘酷的民族悲劇。坦白地說,論文化教養(yǎng)和品德素質(zhì),旗人的平均水平遠(yuǎn)比我們有數(shù)億文盲的漢族高。他們?nèi)狈χ\生技能或命運坎坷不是個人智能、品行、性格造成的,而是因為從老皇上賞賜特權(quán)那天起就斷了他們?nèi)蘸蟮纳嬷贰L煜聸]有不換的朝代,也沒有永存的特權(quán)!從一個京城平民的命運,一個八旗世家的興衰,折射出中國歷史的發(fā)展、社會生活的變動,這為寫作人提供了寶貴、豐厚的礦藏。從“五四”后老舍、曹禺、梁實秋等前輩開創(chuàng)性的作品開始,寫這類京味文學(xué)的人時隱時現(xiàn),不絕如縷。解放初期活躍一陣(見早期《說說唱唱》《北京文藝》《北京新民報》副刊),“反右”后沉寂了。改革開放的80年代,文學(xué)新 時期中掀起一個高潮。眾多高手同臺亮相:汪曾祺、林斤瀾、劉紹棠、浩然、陳建功、中杰英、趙大年、袁一強……一個賽過一個能耐。而葉廣芩應(yīng)算是最近出現(xiàn)、也最年輕的一位能耐人。

      葉廣芩的作品好就好在“夠味兒”,不僅有京味共性,還有她葉赫家的個性!好比穆柯寨的“炒疙瘩”,一樣的面,她炒出來就另個味兒!

      頭一條是有“墨香”。不造作,不拿捏,從容舒展中流露書卷翰墨之氣?!罢l翻樂府凄涼曲,風(fēng)也蕭蕭。雨也蕭蕭,瘦盡燈花又一宵”,把題目連起來竟是半闕 納蘭詞。難得她用得那么自然而現(xiàn)成。讀其作品又令人禁不住感到“誰念西風(fēng)獨自涼,蕭蕭黃葉閉疏窗,沉思往事立殘陽”的意境。敘事寫人如數(shù)家珍,起承轉(zhuǎn)合不 瘟不躁,舉手投足流露出閨秀遺風(fēng)、文化底蘊。內(nèi)行看門道,這文風(fēng)這品位,裝不出來學(xué)不到家,只能是生活磨煉環(huán)境熏陶先天素質(zhì)后天修養(yǎng)多年浸泡釀造而成。這 里也少不得鄧少平同志領(lǐng)導(dǎo)改革開放這個時運因素。她這份才華若早出現(xiàn)幾十年,不劃入另冊也在除“四舊”中被清除了!

      光有黑香不算好,這作品還有革命意識、時代特征,可算是源于生活又高于生活。作者是受過社會主義教育,經(jīng)過革命磨煉,又有了城外生活作參照之后,這才回頭審視自己沖出來的那個“舊世界”的,所以看得清,想得深,揭得透。

      正因作者曾從屬于那個社會群體,文學(xué)寫作什么都能作假,惟感情作不得假,于是她在批判、否定那些過時、陳腐、消失了的一切時,字里行間又剪不斷理還亂 地流露出認(rèn)同、懷戀的情結(jié)。這從社會學(xué)、政治學(xué)方面說,或許是不宜贊同必須澄清的成分,但在文學(xué)上恰好成了不可替代的“這一個”,使這些作品有了特殊的藝 術(shù)魅力。

      葉廣芩是多面手,在這之前她也寫過別的題材別的風(fēng)格的小說,也不錯。但我認(rèn)為惟有在寫這批京味小說時她才發(fā)現(xiàn)了自己特有的靈性。寫作這行要以己之長比人之短才有你存在的竹值。

      寫小說的不一定會評小說。我愛讀葉廣芩的小說,但要把它說明白卻力不從心。好在書已出版,是耶非耶,讀者自有明斷。

      彤霞久絕飛瓊宇,人在誰邊。人在誰邊,今夜玉清眠不眠。

      香銷被冷殘燈滅,靜數(shù)秋天。靜數(shù)秋天,又誤心期到下弦。

      誰翻樂府凄涼曲?風(fēng)也蕭蕭,雨也蕭蕭,瘦盡燈花又一宵。

      不知何事縈懷抱,醒也無聊,醉也無聊,夢也何曾到謝橋。

      非關(guān)癖愛輕模樣,冷處偏佳。別有根芽,不是人間富貴花。

      謝娘別后誰能惜,飄泊天涯。寒月悲笳,萬里西風(fēng)瀚海沙。

      桃花羞作無情死,感激東風(fēng)。吹落嬌紅,飛入窗間伴懊儂。

      誰憐辛苦東陽瘦,也為春慵。不及芙蓉,一片幽情冷處濃。

      撥燈書盡紅箋也,依舊無聊。玉漏迢迢,夢里寒花隔玉簫。

      幾竿修竹三更雨,葉葉蕭蕭。分付秋潮,莫誤雙魚到謝橋。

      謝家庭院殘更立,燕宿雕粱。月度銀墻,不辨花叢那辨香?

      此情已自成追憶,零落鴛鴦。雨歇微涼,十一年前夢一場。

      而今才道當(dāng)時錯,心緒凄迷。紅淚偷垂,滿眼春風(fēng)百事非。

      情知此后來無計,強說歡期。一別如斯,落盡梨花月又西。

      明月多情應(yīng)笑我,笑我如今,孤負(fù)春心,獨自閑行獨自吟。

      近來怕說當(dāng)時事,結(jié)遍蘭襟。月淺燈深,夢里云歸何處尋?
