記得去年冬天時(shí)我陪一個(gè)美國小女生去參觀校園, 剛好那天天氣特別地冷, 結(jié)果呢, 她一出門就作了一個(gè)很可愛的動(dòng)作, 她呼出了一道白色的空氣說, “Wow, it's so cold.I can even see my breath!” 相信這種可愛動(dòng)作有不少人一定也常做吧? 所以大家要知道, breath 不但指“呼吸”而言, 在日常生活中還常常拿來指你呼出的空氣。

4.Don't pick your nose in front of me.別在我面前挖鼻孔.有很多人都知道“我在流鼻水”的英文可以說 “I have a running nose.” 但卻不知道“挖鼻孔”的英文是什么, 其實(shí)呢“挖鼻孔”就是 pick one's nose.至于知道鼻屎叫 booger的人可能就更少了.那鼻屎的好朋友“鼻涕”呢? 英文里有許多種講法, 比較文雅的講法是 snivel 或 nasal mucus.(mucus 原意是黏液, 所以鼻子里的黏液自然就是鼻涕了).不過如果小朋友們才不會跟你什么 nasal mucus 呢, 他們比較愛用不文雅的 snot 這個(gè)字.(Snot 的發(fā)音是不是聽起來就比較粗俗?)例如有個(gè)討厭鬼的鼻涕快滴下來了, 你就可以跟他說, “Hey, your snot is dripping down.”

有個(gè)跟 booger 蠻有趣的小故事講給各位聽.有次幾個(gè)老美來我家玩一種猜字游戲, 就是一個(gè)人說提示, 其它的人猜.那一次猜的字里面就有 booger.不認(rèn)得 booger 是什么意思, 所以就問一個(gè)老美, 他告訴說, “It's the black stuff in your nose;some children play with them or even eat them.”(它就是你鼻子里黑色的東西, 有些小孩子會玩它甚至?xí)运?, 后來沒多久那個(gè)老美肚子餓了, 他問我, “Do you have something to eat?”(有沒有吃的東西啊?)結(jié)果我現(xiàn)學(xué)現(xiàn)賣, 隨口回了他一句, “I only have booger, wanna eat?”(我只有鼻屎啦, 你要吃嗎?)結(jié)果全場的人全都笑翻了.從此我再也沒忘掉 booger 這個(gè)字.來源:恒星英語學(xué)習(xí)網(wǎng)-口語頻道

Dimple 這個(gè)字原指“小凹洞”, 最明顯的例子就是高爾夫球上就有很多的 dimples.那人身上的 dimple 呢? 指的多半就是酒窩了.所以你要贊美人家有酒窩, 可以說, “You got a cute dimple in your cheek.” 或是 “A cute dimple just appeared in your face.”(一個(gè)可愛的酒窩剛在你的臉上浮現(xiàn))
