A hearty welcome to women leaders and those who are here to honor the International Women’s Day!

各位在場的婦女代表，和支持國際婦女節(jié)的朋友們，大家好！

As a woman, I am privileged to attend the 2008 Wuhan Women Artists Contemporary Art Exhibition on behalf of the U.S.Consulate General in Wuhan.作為一個女性，今天我特別榮幸代表美國駐武漢總領(lǐng)事館參加2008年武漢女藝術(shù)家當(dāng)代藝術(shù)作品聯(lián)展。

Let me fist congratulate Hubei Institute of Fine Art for sponsoring this unique exhibit for us to appreciate the wonderful works of art by 24 Wuhan contemporary women artist at Wuhan Tiandi.We are here to celebrate their penetrating expressions, and colorful emotions.首先我向主辦單位湖北美術(shù)學(xué)院和承辦單位武漢瑞安天地房地產(chǎn)發(fā)展有限公司表示祝賀。通過他們的安排，24位杰出的武漢當(dāng)代女性畫家的作品出現(xiàn)在武漢天地，展示在我們眼前。她們的作品表現(xiàn)了女性敏銳的觀察力和親和力，抒發(fā)了女性多彩多姿的感情。

We recognize the significance of opening this exhibit on the International Women’s Day.We, men and women from China and many other countries, gather together here today to pay tribute to the fact that women have increasingly gained respect internationally.We are proud that “Women hold up half the sky.”

在三月八日國際婦女節(jié)這一天展開這樣一個別開生面的畫展意義深長。在場的朋友來自四方，有男有女。這意味著婦女地位逐漸得到國際認(rèn)可。相信在場的朋友們都跟我一樣，為婦女能撐半天邊，感到自豪。

Art has many dimensions.Life is art.Doing what you do well to make contributions is art.I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to all artists, including leaders of Wuhan Women’s Federation, President Luo Ting who came all the way from Hunan Women’s University, Vice President Zhang Ying of Jianghan University, Ms He Donglan from South Central University for Nationalities, and above all, all the men who stood firmly behind all ladies.藝術(shù)是多元的。人生就是藝術(shù)。站好工作崗位，做出貢獻(xiàn)就是藝術(shù)。除了表揚女性畫家之外，我不敢忘記在場的其他藝術(shù)家，包括武漢市婦女聯(lián)合會的代表，遠(yuǎn)道而來的湖南女子大學(xué)校長羅婷女士，江漢大學(xué)副校長張英女士，和中南民族大學(xué)的何冬蘭主任。當(dāng)然，我更不能忘記支持婦女的男士們。

“Women everywhere share the same dreams--to be educated, to live in peace, to enjoy good health, to be prosperous, and to be heard.As we celebrate International Women's Day and Women's History Month, we honor men and women who work together to advance justice, dignity, and opportunity for women.” That was said by the U.S.First Lady when she and President Bush celebrated the International Women’s Day in the White House.I am honored to deliver their message to you today.Thank you!

美國總統(tǒng)布什和夫人為國際婦女節(jié)在白宮舉行慶典。他們向全球各地為女性爭取平等與尊嚴(yán)的人們致敬，并為全球婦女追求教育，尊重，和平，健康與繁榮的心愿表示祝賀。我再次將他們的信息帶給各位。謝謝。
