主題口號是歷屆奧運(yùn)會獨特舉辦理念的高度概括和集中體現(xiàn)。各屆奧運(yùn)會都精心設(shè)計打動人心的口號以使其廣泛傳播、深入人心，并作為奧運(yùn)會各種文化和視覺設(shè)計活動(場館建設(shè)、文化活動、形象與景觀、開閉幕式等等)的創(chuàng)作依據(jù)。

回顧歷屆奧運(yùn)會中經(jīng)典的主題口號，再次印證了一句響亮的、觸動人心的口號是舉辦一屆成功奧運(yùn)會的重要元素。

雅典奧運(yùn)會：在第二十八屆奧運(yùn)會上，希臘人熱情而自豪地喊出了“歡迎回家”的主題口號，其中不僅包含了雅典奧運(yùn)會對全球奧林匹克大家庭所有成員最誠摯、最熱烈的歡迎，更充分表達(dá)了希臘作為奧林匹克發(fā)祥地對奧運(yùn)會重歸故里的喜悅和自豪之情。

作為一句口號，“歡迎回家”的成功之處概有兩點：第一，它令主辦國在文化聲譽(yù)和地位方面的收益達(dá)到了最大化；第二，它極其精準(zhǔn)地找到了雅典奧運(yùn)會的定位和主題。

“永遠(yuǎn)的朋友”強(qiáng)調(diào)友誼

再看看1992年的西班牙巴塞羅那奧運(yùn)會，巴塞羅那奧運(yùn)會是世界奧林匹克大家庭空前的一次團(tuán)聚——在經(jīng)歷了美蘇互相抵制的莫斯科奧運(yùn)會和洛杉磯奧運(yùn)會，以及被朝鮮抵制了的漢城奧運(yùn)會后，現(xiàn)代奧林匹克運(yùn)動終于在多年低潮之后迎來了一次大團(tuán)聚。冷戰(zhàn)剛剛結(jié)束的國際背景，賦予了這屆奧運(yùn)會特殊的意義。

當(dāng)國際政治中的陰云和奧運(yùn)賽場上的敵視一同消散時，巴塞羅那奧運(yùn)會響亮地喊出了“永遠(yuǎn)的朋友”這一主題口號，不僅強(qiáng)調(diào)了奧林匹克精神中友誼與和平的永恒主題，表達(dá)了全世界人民所共同的期盼與心聲，更試圖以此來賦予巴塞羅那奧運(yùn)會榮耀的歷史地位，那就是，巴塞羅那奧運(yùn)會將作為和平與友誼的見證者和紀(jì)念物而永存于奧林匹克的歷史之中。

“點燃心中之火”暗喻希望

1995年，美國鹽湖城獲得了2002年冬季奧運(yùn)會的主辦權(quán)，但隨即陷入了不盡的申辦丑聞之中，迫切需要重新樹立和端正自己的公共形象?！包c燃心中之火”的主題口號在這種背景下走上舞臺，“圣火”是正義與純潔的象征，而燃燒在內(nèi)心的“圣火”暗喻了本屆冬奧會正義的內(nèi)在心靈，表現(xiàn)了組織者直面流言蜚語，勇敢自我辯護(hù)的精神。

鹽湖城冬奧會開幕之際，又恰逢“911”事件余波未平，這樣一句以“正義”為內(nèi)涵的口號不僅再次為美國作了辯護(hù)，其所寓意的激情和希望也起到了令美國人振奮精神的效用，“心中的圣火”自然被理解為了“心中的希望”。

鹽湖城冬奧會把這句口號貫徹在火炬、獎牌等視覺設(shè)計工作之中，不僅以直觀的方式表現(xiàn)了口號涵義，更在視覺上實現(xiàn)了冰與火的和諧相處，成為現(xiàn)代奧林匹克歷史中一個非常成功的口號案例。
