最開始的樂(lè)隊(duì)里，黃家駒天分并不好，談兩個(gè)音符就錯(cuò)了，樂(lè)隊(duì)里有個(gè)吉他好的人就鄙視他，讓他走，他并沒(méi)有放棄，沒(méi)有翻臉，而忍辱負(fù)重，“縱有創(chuàng)傷不退避”，回家苦練吉他。長(zhǎng)時(shí)間彈吉他第一手指會(huì)磨得厲害，得戴東西，二就是會(huì)真的腫了，他就一盆熱水加鹽練就了一手絕好的吉他。后來(lái)自己組建beyond樂(lè)隊(duì)，為了在無(wú)人認(rèn)可的情況下開演唱會(huì)，他做了各種兼職，包括發(fā)傳單，推銷，擦皮鞋，撿垃圾。賣票和租場(chǎng)地，掛橫幅，都得自己干。同時(shí)個(gè)人也做出了犧牲，《喜歡》因?yàn)楹ε峦鎎and連累女友而分手。

1992年，為了beyond有更廣闊的發(fā)展，為了打造國(guó)際化樂(lè)隊(duì)的理想，他們四人來(lái)到
