Message on the occasion of the International Women’s Day

International Women’s Day was first honoured one hundred years ago in a handful of European countries.Since then, the celebrationhas become global, and much has been achieved.The2011 International Women’s Dayis an opportunity to celebrate achievements and mobilize against the challenges that remain.There is no room for complacency.Less than 40 percent of countries provide girls and boys with equal access to education.Had we reached gender parity in primary education in 2008, there would have been an additional 3.6 million girls in school.Disparities have increased at the secondary level in Africa over the last decade.Only 29 percent of

researchers in the world today are women.Two-thirds of the world’s 796 million illiterate adults are women.The impact is serious.Inequality costs lives in terms of child mortality.It

blights lives in terms of poverty and marginalization.And it slights lives in terms of opportunities for growth and development.Gender equality is a red thread weaving through all UNESCO activities to promote international cooperation in education, the sciences, culture, communication and information.We seek to promote basic human rightsin order to transform our societies and lay the foundations for equitable and sustainable human development.This year’s International Women’s Day is inspired by the theme of

‘Equal access to education, training and science and technology: Pathway to decent work for women.’ This goes to the heart of UNESCO’s mission.We work to strengthen the bridges between education, training, science and technology and the labour market in order to promote equal opportunity to decent employment.This starts early, with quality

education for all girls and young women from the primary to the tertiary level.It continues with vocational training and education for women who have not acquired basic skills.It proceeds with creating positive role models and career tracks – especially in such areas as science and technology.These goals guide UNESCO’s work in leading the Education for All initiative.They inspire our partnership with L’Oreal to promote women in scientific research.They explain our work in Pakistan to support income generation for women after the floods of 2010 and to increase literacy among women in Afghanistan.UNESCO is geared up to do much more – to work with official and private sector partners to provide system-wide policy support

forgovernments, to enhance nonformal education and to open learning opportunities for adult women.UNESCO has real leadership in these areas, and we will make the most of this.Without basic skills, decent work has become a distant dream for too many women.The worlds of science and technology – so important for our lives today – remain beyond the reach of most.Human rights are being violated.Tremendous talents are being lost.This International

Women’s’ Day is a chance for us all to address these challenges.In times of economic difficulty, there is no better investment.

巾幗不讓須眉

如今更勝男兒

蔡暢同志在一篇報(bào)告《一個(gè)女人能干什么》當(dāng)中講到，一個(gè)女人“干，什么也能干；不干，什么也不能干”。的確，婦女并非天生懦弱、生來愚笨，只要她們奮發(fā)努力、敢于拼搏，同樣能像男子漢一樣屹立于天地間，成就一番大事業(yè)。從古至今，自強(qiáng)精神一直鼓舞著中國廣大婦女勇攀事業(yè)高峰。特別是在當(dāng)今社會(huì)、在祖國建設(shè)和發(fā)展過程中，婦女同胞們起到了非常重要的作用，她們?cè)诟餍懈鳂I(yè)中大顯身手，不斷追求成功，實(shí)現(xiàn)了自己的人生價(jià)值。東勝區(qū)糧食局的巾幗英雄們就是當(dāng)今中國婦女的典型代表。

區(qū)糧食局共有女職工11名，占全局職工人數(shù)的61%。自糧食局2008年成立以來，她們嚴(yán)守崗位職責(zé)，勤奮敬業(yè)，無私奉獻(xiàn)，在平凡的崗位上創(chuàng)造出不平凡的業(yè)績。

在2011年的東勝區(qū)舊城改造過程中，糧食局共抽調(diào)7名干部，其中5名女同志。由于拆遷工作的特殊性，她們只有在別人休息的時(shí)候才能開展工作，加班加點(diǎn)是家常便飯，周末和節(jié)假日只是一種奢望，伴隨著她們的只有老人埋怨、丈夫生氣、孩子叫苦，但這些女同志們硬是克服了家庭和生活上的困難，在舊城改造工作中起到了至關(guān)重要的作用，使糧食局工作進(jìn)展名列前茅。在創(chuàng)衛(wèi)工作中，糧 1 食局作為督查組，認(rèn)真開展各項(xiàng)工作，其中女同志們也作出了重要貢獻(xiàn)，最終該局被評(píng)為“創(chuàng)建國家衛(wèi)生城市先進(jìn)單位”，并有1名女同志被評(píng)為“創(chuàng)建國家衛(wèi)生城市先進(jìn)個(gè)人”。在創(chuàng)城工作中，糧食局同樣是作為督查組重要成員單位，承擔(dān)了非常繁重的工作任務(wù)，女同志們又一次跑在了最前頭。她們不怕臟，不怕累，早出晚歸，沖在酷暑，還要不停地同商戶及有關(guān)部門就整改問題進(jìn)行協(xié)商；可以說，大家齊心協(xié)力，各個(gè)都發(fā)揮了釘子般的精神，最終圓滿完成了創(chuàng)城任務(wù)，該局被授予“東勝區(qū)創(chuàng)建全國文明城市優(yōu)秀督查組”榮譽(yù)稱號(hào)，其中1名女同志當(dāng)選“東勝區(qū)創(chuàng)建全國文明城市先進(jìn)個(gè)人”。應(yīng)該說，正是因?yàn)橛辛怂齻?，東勝局糧食局已經(jīng)成為一支“特別能戰(zhàn)斗、特別能吃苦、特別出成果”的隊(duì)伍。

這些女同志們?cè)谕瓿扇粘９ぷ鞯耐瑫r(shí)，不忘加強(qiáng)政治理論學(xué)習(xí)。她們堅(jiān)持以科學(xué)理論武裝頭腦，認(rèn)真學(xué)習(xí)領(lǐng)悟黨的十七大精神，深入貫徹落實(shí)鄧小平理論、“三個(gè)代表”重要思想和科學(xué)發(fā)展觀。黨支部組織大家認(rèn)真學(xué)習(xí)了十七大報(bào)告和新黨章，著重討論了科學(xué)發(fā)展觀在新時(shí)期的重要性，廣大女同志也在討論中踴躍發(fā)言，結(jié)合自身的工作生活，提出了很多深刻的見解，機(jī)關(guān)思想政治建設(shè)和執(zhí)政能力建設(shè)水平顯著提升。

在局領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的大力支持下，糧食局還經(jīng)常開展形式多樣的活動(dòng)，婦女同志們是活動(dòng)的主體和生力軍。她們通過自己的努力，不僅豐富了廣大職工的文化生活，而且使大家從緊張繁忙的工作中得到精神上的放松和享受，進(jìn)一步提高了工作熱情和效率。

糧食局的女同志們，不僅在業(yè)務(wù)上各個(gè)都是一把好手，而且還擁有一顆顆美麗善良的心。在每一次的“捐款獻(xiàn)愛心”活動(dòng)和“博愛一日捐”活動(dòng)中，她們都踴躍地向需要幫助的人們奉獻(xiàn)出自己的愛心。每當(dāng)這些時(shí)候，女同胞們表現(xiàn)出的慷慨卻與平時(shí)工作中的節(jié)儉作風(fēng)形成鮮明對(duì)比。作廢的紙張，大家總是積攢起來再次利用；硒鼓反復(fù)使用，直到無法打印為止；隨手關(guān)燈、注意節(jié)水更是不足為奇，這些點(diǎn)點(diǎn)滴滴的小事無不彰顯出大家關(guān)心集體、愛護(hù)環(huán)境的高尚情操。

糧食局的女同志們都為自己能處于這樣一個(gè)先進(jìn)的集體感到無尚光榮，內(nèi)心也常常被一種溫暖而感動(dòng)。每當(dāng)有女職工過生日，同事們都會(huì)送上最真摯的祝福；當(dāng)女同志生病時(shí)，大家都會(huì)獻(xiàn)上深切的關(guān)懷；每逢三八婦女節(jié)，所有男同胞們都會(huì)向女同事們致以節(jié)日的問候，并主動(dòng)承擔(dān)她們的工作，使她們有時(shí)間參加三八節(jié)活動(dòng)。在這樣一個(gè)機(jī)關(guān)里，有親如家人的同事，有平易近人的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)；身處 3 在這樣一個(gè)環(huán)境中，婦女們的熱情和積極性也得到了空前的發(fā)揮。

糧食局今天所取得的各項(xiàng)成績，離不開局黨政班子的把握大局、正確領(lǐng)導(dǎo)，離不開廣大職工的互相幫助、團(tuán)結(jié)奮進(jìn)，更離不開所有女同志長期以來的任勞任怨、埋頭苦干。今后的日子，糧食局的巾幗英豪們將繼續(xù)發(fā)揚(yáng)吃苦耐勞，勇攀高峰的精神，將優(yōu)良作風(fēng)傳承下去，不斷推動(dòng)全區(qū)糧食工作健康快速發(fā)展。
