至今，全國擁有英語專業(yè)碩士點的高校已達(dá)220所之多。萬學(xué)海文考研調(diào)研員對武漢大學(xué)、華中師范大學(xué)、武漢理工大學(xué)、華中科技大學(xué)、華中農(nóng)業(yè)大學(xué)、中國地質(zhì)大學(xué)(武漢)、湖北大學(xué)、中南民族大學(xué)英語方向最近兩屆的一些研究生的進(jìn)行了采訪，以了解他們考研過程中的基本情況。

從所報考的專業(yè)來看，大部分人都選擇與翻譯相關(guān)的方向報考，而選擇文學(xué)和語言學(xué)方向的學(xué)生大多是因為對這一專業(yè)感興趣。同時，翻譯學(xué)方向的同學(xué)都認(rèn)為考研過程十分艱辛，而文學(xué)和語言學(xué)則相對容易，考取的可能性也比較大。此外，還有少數(shù)同學(xué)選擇了對外漢語、國際貿(mào)易之類的英語相關(guān)專業(yè)。大部分英語相關(guān)專業(yè)的研究生都是本科就讀英語專業(yè)的考生，且本科階段基礎(chǔ)比較扎實。2010年考取北京第二外國語學(xué)院外國語言學(xué)及應(yīng)用語言學(xué)專業(yè)的女生小楊說：“我比較喜歡英語，而且底子還不錯，但之所以報考語言學(xué)專業(yè)，有很重要的原因是不用考數(shù)學(xué)?！?提及對2012年的考生有什么建議時，中南民族大學(xué)的一位研究生表示：“英語專業(yè)的同學(xué)還是跨專業(yè)考研比較好，因為英語能與其他專業(yè)結(jié)合起來能為我們提供很好的就業(yè)機(jī)會，比如跨考旅游、管理、廣告、商務(wù)英語或?qū)ν鉂h語方面等專業(yè)的研究生就很不錯”。如今很多院校招生翻譯碩士(MTI)，在職考研的考生不妨考慮一下。

目前英語專業(yè)考研的輔導(dǎo)班并不多，建議大家還是要選擇參加正規(guī)、成熟機(jī)構(gòu)的考研輔導(dǎo)班。武漢大學(xué)語言學(xué)的唐寧認(rèn)為，長期坐著看書的中途能夠上上輔導(dǎo)班，至少可以改變下學(xué)習(xí)方式，換一種心情。在基礎(chǔ)英語的復(fù)習(xí)上，小楊認(rèn)為“這個復(fù)習(xí)情況應(yīng)該看個人的英語底子，我自己應(yīng)該先把真題做一遍，然后按照各個題型做專項訓(xùn)練”。至于專業(yè)課的參考書，很多同學(xué)都提到如果沒有推薦書目，一定要選擇最權(quán)威的教材。華中師范大學(xué)的葉洋同學(xué)認(rèn)為有些英文原版教材實在難度太大，萬學(xué)海文考研輔導(dǎo)專家們建議買中文參考書一起看，可以節(jié)省時間。

語言學(xué)規(guī)律并沒有想象中深奧，這里所說的語言學(xué)一般指英語語言學(xué)，當(dāng)然英語專業(yè)學(xué)生考漢語語言學(xué)、日語語言學(xué)、德語語言學(xué)等也是可行的，這就得看考生的第二外語水平。絕大部分招收英語專業(yè)研究生的院校都開設(shè)有英語語言學(xué)方向，從其分支來看，包括語用學(xué)研究、英語語法研究、句法學(xué)、語義學(xué)、語音學(xué)、音系學(xué)、形態(tài)學(xué)、修辭學(xué)等;語言學(xué)的研究同社會學(xué)、心理學(xué)等人文學(xué)科的結(jié)合并形成了社會語言學(xué)、心理語言學(xué)、人類學(xué)語言學(xué)、數(shù)理語言學(xué);把語言學(xué)的理論引進(jìn)到語言教學(xué)中又形成了對比語言學(xué)、認(rèn)知語言學(xué)、語料庫語言學(xué)、應(yīng)用語言學(xué)等。此外還包括對語言和文化兩者相互關(guān)系的研究。

雖然語言學(xué)屬于基本理論的研究，讀書、做研究、寫論文是最正統(tǒng)的出路，但是這并不適合每一個人，適當(dāng)?shù)卣{(diào)適、轉(zhuǎn)向才能更好地發(fā)展自己。比如英語語法研究可以向比較高層次的筆譯轉(zhuǎn)向，修辭學(xué)研究可以向文學(xué)研究甚至文學(xué)作品翻譯轉(zhuǎn)向，如果想向教師方向發(fā)展，萬學(xué)海文建議考生平時應(yīng)加強(qiáng)英語教學(xué)法知識的掌握和教學(xué)技能的訓(xùn)練。

方向二：文學(xué)

文學(xué)方向?qū)嶋H上包含很多小方向，最主要的是英美文學(xué)，此外還有比較文學(xué)與世界文學(xué)、文學(xué)翻譯等。全國絕大部分招收英語專業(yè)研究生的學(xué)校一般都開設(shè)英美文學(xué)專業(yè)。比較文學(xué)、世界文學(xué)致力于不同文化之間的理解、認(rèn)識、比較，很多院校把這一專業(yè)開設(shè)在文學(xué)院而非外語學(xué)院。英美文學(xué)專業(yè)包含很多理論問題，如作者生平、思想內(nèi)容、寫作手法、文學(xué)流派、文學(xué)史發(fā)展的軌跡以及藝術(shù)特色等，進(jìn)一步還有各個歷史階段的文學(xué)現(xiàn)象、本質(zhì)和特征以及文學(xué)語言的基本概況、文藝批評思潮等，主要內(nèi)容有英美文學(xué)史、英美小說、文藝?yán)碚摰?。學(xué)習(xí)文學(xué)沒有捷徑，文學(xué)方向的研究生在學(xué)習(xí)文學(xué)相關(guān)理論(如美學(xué)、文藝學(xué)、文學(xué)史等)之余就是大量閱讀經(jīng)典的文學(xué)作品，這種閱讀同一般人的課外閱讀差別很大，有時甚至?xí)芷D苦。文學(xué)方向就業(yè)在英語各方向里面情況中等，所以學(xué)習(xí)文學(xué)一定要真正具有濃厚的興趣和文學(xué)領(lǐng)悟能力。

方向三：翻譯學(xué)

近年來，翻譯學(xué)也發(fā)生了分化，不僅有“翻譯學(xué)”方向，還有細(xì)化的口譯、筆譯、文學(xué)翻譯、同聲傳譯等很多方向。中國八大外語院校(北京外國語大學(xué)、上海外國語大學(xué)、西安外國語學(xué)院、廣東外語外貿(mào)大學(xué)、大連外國語學(xué)院、天津外國語學(xué)院、四川外語學(xué)院(重慶)、北京第二外國語學(xué)院)開設(shè)有專門的翻譯方向，其他的院校翻譯屬于小類別，包含在語言文學(xué)里面，一般選擇對應(yīng)的導(dǎo)師才會進(jìn)入翻譯方向。翻譯方向是報考人數(shù)比較多的方向之一，從北京環(huán)球時代學(xué)校學(xué)員統(tǒng)計來看，30%的人準(zhǔn)備報考翻譯專業(yè)。

翻譯學(xué)對英語專業(yè)學(xué)生的功底要求比較高，在研究生學(xué)習(xí)過程會有高強(qiáng)度的聽說讀寫譯等基本技能訓(xùn)練。不同的學(xué)校差別很大，一些辦學(xué)實力偏弱的學(xué)校主要強(qiáng)調(diào)翻譯史與翻譯理論，但是一些重點學(xué)校特別是外語院校比較強(qiáng)調(diào)應(yīng)用人才的培養(yǎng)，特別強(qiáng)調(diào)實踐能力。筆譯、口譯和同聲傳譯的學(xué)習(xí)難度也各不相同，難度依次為：筆譯——口譯——同聲傳譯。

翻譯方向碩士生有三條發(fā)展道路，一是提高個人專業(yè)能力，包括反應(yīng)能力、變通能力、口語表達(dá)能力，向高級翻譯人才發(fā)展，主要是成為一些大型活動、會議的翻譯人才;一是聽說讀寫并重，擴(kuò)大知識面，有選擇地學(xué)習(xí)教育、外事、外貿(mào)、科技翻譯、新聞出版、廣播影視、涉外企業(yè)、管理等方面的知識，向?qū)ｉT型應(yīng)用型人才發(fā)展;一是個性化發(fā)展，不斷提高自己的中文表達(dá)能力和英語運用能力后，再精通某個特長領(lǐng)域，如文學(xué)、電影、時尚等，成為有一定底蘊(yùn)的筆譯人才或從事教學(xué)科研工作。
