1.整理出想要申請的學校
根據你的學習興趣、地點偏好及校園環(huán)境擬定好你要申請的大學名單。千萬不要只看排名就申請學校,確定要透徹地研究過每個有興趣的學校后,依序排除你的夢幻學校、適合學校以及安全學校名單。不要只申請幾所,盡量申請多所一些。
2.與父母溝通
告訴父母你的留學計劃,最重要的還是你的資金來源。學費不是留學唯一的花費,在美國的生活費才驚人。與他們溝通,看看你是不是需要申請獎學金補助。另外,在申請的過程中,你還需要向學校提供父母的存款證明,所以,事先與父母溝通是必要的。
3.注冊通用申請網站賬號

9.買齊SAT準備用書,然后開始苦讀!

方案1:優(yōu)秀學生直接入讀本科
推薦院校:威斯康星大學、普渡大學、明尼蘇達大學等
學生在高二到高三時考IELTS或TOEFL,條件好的學生可以再考SAT,高三上學期時獲得合格的IELTS或TOEFL成績,可以直接申請美國大學本科。一般要求雅思 6.0分,高中三年平均分在80分以上。如果要申請排名前50的名校,要求雅思6.5分以上,高中三年平均分90分。
據了解,一般來說,每年的9月—12月是申請美國大學最好的時機,申請結果會于次年1月至3月間出來。但是本方案對學生素質要求很高,學生不僅要有較高的英文水平,還需要有較強的獨立性。
方案2:無語言成績可申請雙錄取
推薦院校:圣路易斯大學、丹佛大學、塔爾薩大學、堪薩斯大學等
“雙錄取”又稱“條件式入學”,主要是針對沒有語言成績或語言成績暫時較弱的學生,學校會發(fā)出兩份錄取通知書:校語言中心和該校本科有條件錄取。學生入學后,先進入語言中心學習英語,語言過關后,無需另行申請,直接進入本科學習。美國大學雙錄取項目既保證每一個符合條件的申請人都能獲得學習機會,同時又保證學校的正常教學不會因學生聽不懂課程而被延誤。
學生高三下學期開始申請,高中畢業(yè)后去美國“ESL+大學”。可以分為兩種情況:第一,申請大學課程和ESL雙錄取,先在該大學內的語言中心讀完ESL課程,然后直接進入該大學。第二,先赴美在獨立的語言中心讀完ESL,再考雅思、TOEFL、SAT,然后申請大學。
如果只拿到語言中心的I-20,而沒有學校審核委員會發(fā)出的條件式錄取信的話,這種被稱為“單獨被語言中心錄取”而不是“雙錄取”,其申請簽證的希望非常渺茫。因此王娜提醒學生在申請“條件式入學”時,千萬要事先了解,否則很容易被騙去讀語言學校,導致日后申請本科受阻。
方案3:先讀社區(qū)大學后轉學分

與普通的四年制本科大學不同,社區(qū)學院主要提供兩類課程:一類是過渡性的文理課程,相當于四年制大學的前兩年,學生畢業(yè)后,學校會為學生頒發(fā)副學士學位。如果學生想繼續(xù)深造,則可申請轉讀四年制大學,繼續(xù)大三和大四的學習,以取得學士學位。另一類是終止性職業(yè)技術課程,畢業(yè)生可直接就業(yè)。國內選擇社區(qū)學院的申請人大多是看中了它的前一類課程,而據了解,選擇此類課程需要特別注意與其對接的院校。一般而言,每所社區(qū)大學都有簽署掛鉤協(xié)議的若干合作院校,只有簽過掛鉤協(xié)議的院校之間才能轉學分。
對于目前條件不夠,要想去美國前50的學校,選擇社區(qū)大學入讀是最為理想的做法,因為可以有兩年的時間讓學生去努力拼搏,只要學生達到社區(qū)大學與美國前50大學的轉學協(xié)議的要求(通常100分達到80分),就可以成功轉學。選擇該方案的學生在國內高二或高三讀完時,到美國通過ESL后,先讀兩年社區(qū)大學(Community College)課程,然后進入相關協(xié)議大學讀后兩年,獲得本科學位。
弊:學生時間壓力較大;SAT有一定難度;學生適應全英語環(huán)境困難。利:節(jié)省了時間和金錢;提早準備雅思或托福等,提高英語水平。
弊:提供雙錄取的大學有時不太好;如先讀ESL,將來再申請大學,學生出國時未來前途不是很明朗。
利:適合多數學生學習能力及英語水平。在美學習,對英語學習有利;對語言、生活習慣適應度更高。
