Do not forget why you're attending these conferences, who you're doing this for--we are your own children.You are deciding what kind of world we will grow up in.Parents should be able to comfort their children by saying “everyting's going to be alright” , “we're doing the best we can” and “it's not the end of the world”.But I don't think you can say that to us anymore.Are we even on your list of priorities? My father always says “You are what you do, not what you say.”

在我的生命里，我夢(mèng)想著看見(jiàn)大群的野生動(dòng)物，看見(jiàn)到處是鳥(niǎo)和蝴蝶的熱帶叢林，但是現(xiàn)在我不知道我的孩子還能不能看到它們存在。

你們象我這么大的時(shí)候也需要擔(dān)心這些事情嗎？

這些都在我們的眼前發(fā)生，可是我們卻假裝我們有無(wú)窮無(wú)盡的時(shí)間和辦法去解決問(wèn)題。我只是個(gè)小孩，我沒(méi)有解決這些問(wèn)題的答案，但是我想要你們知道，你們也沒(méi)有！

你們沒(méi)有辦法修補(bǔ)臭氧層的破洞。你們不能讓三文魚(yú)回到已經(jīng)干涸的河流，你們沒(méi)有辦法讓滅絕的動(dòng)物重新出現(xiàn)，你們也無(wú)法讓已經(jīng)變成沙漠的地方重新成為森林。

如果你們沒(méi)有辦法去修補(bǔ)，就請(qǐng)不要再去破壞！

在這里，你們也許是政府的代表、商業(yè)人士、組織者、記者或者政治家，但你們也是父親和母親，兄弟和姐妹，叔叔和阿姨——而且，你們所有人都是你們父母的小孩。

我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道我們都是一個(gè)大家庭的成員，這個(gè)家庭有五十億人，三千萬(wàn)個(gè)物種，我們共享著同樣的空氣、水和土壤。國(guó)界和政府永遠(yuǎn)也改變不了這個(gè)事實(shí)。

我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道我們是一個(gè)整體，應(yīng)該為了同樣的目標(biāo)一起努力。我很生氣，但我不盲目。我很害怕，但我不怕把我的感覺(jué)告訴全世界。在我的國(guó)家，我們浪費(fèi)太多，我們買(mǎi)了又扔掉，買(mǎi)了又扔掉，卻不肯分享給需要的人。甚至當(dāng)我們擁有的已經(jīng)太多的時(shí)候，我們還是怕會(huì)失去財(cái)富，不愿與人分享。

我只是一個(gè)小孩，可是我卻知道如果所有花在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)上的錢(qián)都被用來(lái)終止貧窮、找尋環(huán)境問(wèn)題的答案，這個(gè)地球會(huì)變成多美好的地方！

在學(xué)校，甚至是在幼兒園，你們就教我們要做個(gè)乖孩子。你們教我們不要打架，要謙讓?zhuān)鹬貏e人，要清理弄臟的地方，不要傷害動(dòng)物，要分享，不要自私。

All this is happening before our eyes and yet we act as if we have all the time we want and all the solutions.I?m only a child and I don?t have all the solutions, but I want you to realize, neither do you.You don?t know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer.You don?t know how to bring the salmon back up a dead stream.You don?t know how to bring back an animal now extinct.And you can?t bring back the forest that once grew where there is now a desert.If you don?t know how to fix it, please stop breaking it.”

“Here you may be delegates of your governments, business people, organizers, reporters or politicians.But, really, you?re mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles and all of you are someone?s child.I?m only a child, yet I know we are all part of a family, 5 billion strong, in fact 30 million species strong.And borders and governments will never change that.I?m only a child, yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal.”

“In my anger, I am not blind and in my fear I am not afraid of telling the world how I feel.In my country we make so much waste, we buy and throw away, buy and throw away, buy and throw away and yet Northern countries will not share with the needy.Even when we have more than enough we are afraid to share, we are afraid to let go of some of our wealth.In Canada , we live the privileged life.We?ve plenty of food, water and shelter.We have watches, bicycles, computers and television sets.The list could go on for 2 days.Two days ago here in Brazil , we were shocked when we spent time with some children living on the streets.This is what one child told us, ?I wish I was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicines, shelter and love and affection?.If a child on the street who has nothing is willing to share, why are we who have everything still so greedy? I can?t stop thinking that these are children my own age, that it makes a tremendous difference where you are born.And that I could be one of those children living in the favelas of Rio.I could be a child starving in Somalia , or a victim of war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.I am only a child, yet I know if all the money spent on war was spent on finding environmental answers ending poverty and in finding treaties, what a wonderful place this earth would be.”

“At school, even in kindergarten, you teach us how to behave in the world.You teach us to not to fight with others, to work things out, to respect others and to clean up our mess, not to hurt other creatures, to share, not be greedy.Then, why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do? （演講全文）大家好，我是瑟玟．鈴木，代表ECO發(fā)言。ECO是兒童環(huán)保團(tuán)體（Environmental Children's Organization）的縮寫(xiě)。我們是一群十二歲到十三歲的加拿大兒童團(tuán)體，為了改變世界的現(xiàn)狀而努力。我們自籌旅費(fèi)，從加拿大來(lái)到巴西，經(jīng)歷一萬(wàn)公 里的旅程，只為了告訴各位大人們，必須改變現(xiàn)在的世界。

今天我來(lái)到這里，沒(méi)有任何動(dòng)機(jī)。我從事環(huán)保運(yùn)動(dòng)，是為了自己的未來(lái)而奮斗。失去自己的未來(lái)，跟選舉落敗和股票慘跌是不能一概而論的。

我在此要說(shuō)的內(nèi)容，是為了所有活在未來(lái)的孩子，也為了世界上那些飽受饑餓之苦卻無(wú)人關(guān)心的孩子們，以及無(wú)路可走而死亡殆盡的無(wú)數(shù)動(dòng)物。

我現(xiàn)在很怕站在太陽(yáng)底下，因?yàn)槌粞鯇佑衅贫?。就連呼吸都會(huì)感到害怕，因?yàn)榭諝庵锌赡軙?huì)有毒。我跟爸爸常去溫哥華釣魚(yú)。直到幾年前，發(fā)現(xiàn)了得癌癥的魚(yú)為止。而現(xiàn)在，我們幾乎每天都會(huì)聽(tīng)到動(dòng)植物絕 種的消息。它們永遠(yuǎn)不會(huì)再活過(guò)來(lái)了。

我這一生當(dāng)中有個(gè)夢(mèng)想，希望有一天能夠看到一片叢林，里頭有各種野生動(dòng)物和許多飛舞的鳥(niǎo)兒、蝴蝶。

可是，到了我們的下一代，是不是再也無(wú)法擁有這樣的夢(mèng)想？你們?cè)谖疫@個(gè)年紀(jì)時(shí)，是否曾經(jīng)擔(dān)心過(guò)這樣的問(wèn)題呢？

這么重要的事情，并且事態(tài)如此嚴(yán)重，我們?nèi)祟?lèi)卻仍然用不以為意的輕松態(tài)度來(lái)面對(duì)。我只是一個(gè)小孩，坦白說(shuō)，不知道該如何挽救這個(gè)危機(jī)?？墒?，希望你們大人能夠明白，即使是你們也無(wú)法解決！

你們不知道，該如何填補(bǔ)臭氧層的破洞吧？ 你們不知道，該如何讓鮭魚(yú)重回變成死水的河川吧？ 你們不知道，該如何才能讓絕種的動(dòng)物復(fù)活吧？ 還有，現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)變成沙漠的地方，你們也不知道該如何再造成森林吧？

如果不知道該如何恢復(fù)，就請(qǐng)別再繼續(xù)破壞下去吧！

在座當(dāng)中除了政府、企業(yè)和團(tuán)體人士的代表，也許還有媒體人士和政治家吧？你們是別人的母親、父親、姐妹、兄弟、叔叔伯伯、阿姨嬸嬸，而你們每個(gè)人同樣也都是為人子女吧！

我還是個(gè)孩子，但我知道在場(chǎng)的每個(gè)人，都是同一個(gè)大家庭的一員。

我們是個(gè)擁有五十億以上人口的大家庭。不，其實(shí)，是由三千萬(wàn)種生物所構(gòu)成的家庭。

無(wú)論國(guó)境與各國(guó)政府如何將我們區(qū)隔，這一點(diǎn)仍然不會(huì)改變。

雖然我是個(gè)孩子，但是我明白，大家身為這個(gè)大家庭的一員，就必須為單一的目標(biāo)團(tuán)結(jié)行動(dòng)。

我很憤怒，卻沒(méi)有迷失自己。

我很害怕，可是，要把自己的感受傳達(dá)給全世界，我卻不害怕。

在我的國(guó)家，我們浪費(fèi)了許多東西。買(mǎi)了就丟，然后再買(mǎi)過(guò)?再丟。這樣浪費(fèi)物資的北方國(guó)家，根本無(wú)法將資源分享給貧困的國(guó)家。即使物資充裕，我們卻害怕施舍、害怕失去自己手中的資產(chǎn)。

在加拿大的我們，享有充分的飲食與居家生活。時(shí)鐘、腳踏車(chē)、電腦、電視……要數(shù)遍我們所擁有的東西，大概要花上好幾天吧！

兩天前，我在巴西這里遇到一群無(wú)家可歸的流浪兒。我們很驚訝，因?yàn)槠渲杏袀€(gè)孩子跟我們說(shuō)：「我真想變有錢(qián)。如果我有錢(qián)的話(huà)，我要給所有無(wú)家可歸的孩子們，食物、衣 服、藥品、房子，以及愛(ài)與溫暖?！?/p>

一個(gè)失去一切的流浪兒，都會(huì)想到互相分享，那么擁有一切的我們，又為什么要這么貪婪？這些不幸的孩子們，年紀(jì)都和我相仿，令我無(wú)法忘懷。我們出生在不同的地方，卻過(guò)著如此天差地別的人生。

我可能也會(huì)是住在里約貧民窟的孩子之一，或是索馬利亞的饑餓兒童、中東戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的犧牲者，又或許是在印度當(dāng)乞丐。

我雖然還是孩子，卻很清楚，如果把花在戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)上的錢(qián)，全部用來(lái)解決貧窮與環(huán)境問(wèn)題，地球?qū)?huì)變成一顆美麗的星球吧！

在學(xué)?！?，即使是在幼稚園，你們都在告訴我們，該如何在這世界上遵守規(guī)范。

比如說(shuō)：

不要互相爭(zhēng)執(zhí)，要以溝通的方式共同解? M問(wèn)題，尊重他人，弄亂的東西要自己整理，不隨便傷害其他生物，相互分享，及不能貪得無(wú)厭。

那么，你們又為什么做出這些不要我們?nèi)プ龅氖履兀?/p>

請(qǐng)不要忘記，你們?yōu)槭裁匆獊?lái)參加這場(chǎng)會(huì)議，還有，是為了誰(shuí)而這么做的。

是為了你們的孩子，也就是我們。各位正透過(guò)這樣的會(huì)議，決定我們要在什么樣的世界里成長(zhǎng)。

父母總是告誡孩子，「一切都會(huì)順利的」，或是「我們已經(jīng)盡力而為」、「這又不是世界末日」。

但我不認(rèn)為，大人們還能再用這種話(huà)來(lái)告誡小孩了。

畢竟，你們有將孩子的未來(lái)排在第一順位嗎？

父親總是告訴我：「你的價(jià)值是以你所做的事，而不是以你所說(shuō)的話(huà)來(lái)決定的。」

可是我卻為了你們大人的所作所為在夜里哭泣。

你們總是說(shuō)愛(ài)我們，那么，請(qǐng)用行動(dòng)來(lái)證明。

「地球環(huán)境高峰會(huì)」之后，在全球?qū)W校、企業(yè)、國(guó)際會(huì)議與集會(huì)爭(zhēng)相邀請(qǐng)下展開(kāi)活動(dòng)的瑟玟，除了一九九三年獲頒「全球500獎(jiǎng)」（Global 500）以外，并成為一九九七～二○○一年間創(chuàng)立「聯(lián)合國(guó)地球憲章」工作的青年代表。

All this is happening before our eyes and yet we act as if we have all the time we want and all the solutions.I’m only a child and I don’t have all the solutions, but I want you to realize, neither do you.You don’t know how to fix the holes in our ozone layer.You don’t know how to bring the salmon back up a dead stream.You don’t know how to bring back an animal now extinct.And you can’t bring back the forest that once grew where there is now a desert.If you don’t know how to fix it, please stop breaking it.”

“Here you may be delegates of your governments, business people, organizers, reporters or politicians.But, really, you’re mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, aunts and uncles and all of you are someone’s child.I’m only a child, yet I know we are all part of a family, 5 billion strong, in fact 30 million species strong.And borders and governments will never change that.I’m only a child, yet I know we are all in this together and should act as one single world towards one single goal.”

“In my anger, I am not blind and in my fear I am not afraid of telling the world how I feel.In my country we make so much waste, we buy and throw away, buy and throw away, buy and throw away and yet Northern countries will not share with the needy.Even when we have more than enough we are afraid to share, we are afraid to let go of some of our wealth.In Canada , we live the privileged life.We’ve plenty of food, water and shelter.We have watches, bicycles, computers and television sets.The list could go on for 2 days.Two days ago here in Brazil , we were shocked when we spent time with some children living on the streets.This is what one child told us, ‘I wish I was rich and if I were, I would give all the street children food, clothes, medicines, shelter and love and affection’.If a child on the street who has nothing is willing to share, why are we who have everything still so greedy? I can’t stop thinking that these are children my own age, that it makes a tremendous difference where you are born.And that I could be one of those children living in the favelas of Rio.I could be a child starving in Somalia , or a victim of war in the Middle East or a beggar in India.I am only a child, yet I know if all the money spent on war was spent on finding environmental answers ending poverty and in finding treaties, what a wonderful place this earth would be.”

“At school, even in kindergarten, you teach us how to behave in the world.You teach us to not to fight with others, to work things out, to respect others and to clean up our mess, not to hurt other creatures, to share, not be greedy.Then, why do you go out and do the things you tell us not to do?
