主席先生，Mr.President，女士們，先生們，Ladies and Gentlemen，下午好!在向各位介紹我們的安排之前，我想先告訴大家，你們2008年將在北京渡過(guò)愉快的時(shí)光。

Good afternoon!Before I introduce our cultural programs, I want to tell you one thing first about 2008.You're going to have a great time in Beijing.中國(guó)也有自己的運(yùn)動(dòng)傳統(tǒng)。追溯到宋代，大約在十一世紀(jì)，那時(shí)的人們開始玩一種叫蹴鞠的運(yùn)動(dòng)，而這種運(yùn)動(dòng)也被看成是現(xiàn)代足球的起源。這項(xiàng)運(yùn)動(dòng)是如此受歡迎以致婦女也參與進(jìn)來(lái)?，F(xiàn)在你們也可以理解為什么中國(guó)女足表現(xiàn)如此好的原因吧。

With a concept inspired by the famed Silk Road, our Torch Relay will break new ground, traveling from Olympia through some of the oldest civilizations known to man-Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Byzantine, Mesopotamian, Persian, Arabian, Indian and Chinese.Carrying the message “Share the Peace, Share the Olympics,” the eternal flame will reach new heights as it crosses the Himalayas over the world's highest summit-Mount Qomolangma, which is known to many of you as Mt.Everest.In China, the flame will pass through Tibet, cross the Yangtze and Yellow Rivers, travel the Great Wall and visit Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan and the 56 ethnic communities who make up our society.On its journey, the flame will be seen by and inspire more human beings than any previous relay.700年前，馬可波羅曾對(duì)中國(guó)這一遙遠(yuǎn)的美麗國(guó)度做出了令人贊嘆的描述，人們對(duì)此頗為驚奇，于是有人問(wèn)馬可波羅，你關(guān)于中國(guó)的描述是否屬實(shí)。他說(shuō)：我所告訴你的甚至不及我所見所聞的一半。
