There is a will ,there is a way. Man proposes , God disposes. When in Rome , do as the Romans do. A friend in need is a friend indeed. Old habits die hard

He is as strong as a horse.(牛—馬)
She is as timid as a hare.(鼠—兔)

Like a cat on hot bricks.(螞蟻—貓)
Better be the head of a dog than the tail of a lion.(雞—狗,牛—獅)
1)He is blue today because his father is ill.
2)He has a green thumb.
Before his marriage, his room was often at sixes and sevens.
She is a beautiful girl in a thousand.
Why do you always come at the eleventh hour and keep everyone waiting for you?
His father is a three-bottle man.
半斤八兩:six of one and half a dozen of the other
十月懷胎:a woman in the sixth month
十有八九:ten to one
Among the blind people, the one-eyed man is the king. Even a black lays a white egg. A new broom sweeps clean. You can't judge a tree by its bark. See which way the cat jumps. It rains cats and dogs.一貧如洗(窮光蛋)Poor like a church mouse.
Never offer to teach fish to swim.
英國(guó)是個(gè)島國(guó),為了生存,不得不與氣候惡劣的海洋環(huán)境抗?fàn)帯T谡鞣匀坏倪^(guò)程中,形成了許多源于航海或與海洋有關(guān)的成語(yǔ)、諺語(yǔ)、習(xí)語(yǔ),如:weather(ride out)the storm安然度過(guò)了風(fēng)暴;know(learn)the rope 熟悉內(nèi)幕(一個(gè)有經(jīng)驗(yàn)的水手熟悉船上所有用來(lái)掛帆的繩子)。
西方人特別喜歡寵物,而狗與貓是西方人在有關(guān)動(dòng)物的成語(yǔ)中,出現(xiàn)頻率比較多的,如:cat and dog life 經(jīng)常吵鬧的生活;dress like a dog′s dinner 穿著極其講究;loveme,love my dog 愛(ài)屋及烏(愛(ài)我就愛(ài)我的狗)。
皇帝登上寶座是raised to the purple。生于王室born in the purple。

以牙還牙,a tooth for a tooth(出自英語(yǔ));2.

Never offer to teach fish to swim.
All is fish that comes to his net.(進(jìn)到網(wǎng)里的都是魚)這條諺語(yǔ)的比喻意義是“任何有用的東西或有好處的事都來(lái)者不拒”,含有貶義。
The best fish swim near the bottom.(好魚居水底)比喻“有價(jià)值的東西不會(huì)輕易得到”。
Do in Rome as the Romans do. Rome was not built in a day. All roads lead to Rome. Every dog has his own day.(每只狗都有他的好時(shí)光。)這條諺語(yǔ)比喻“人人都有得意的一天?!?An old dog barks not in rain.(老狗不亂吠。) Dog does not eat dog.(狗不吃狗。)
例如,Man proposes, God disposes. God helps those who help themselves.
Every man must carry his own cross.(每個(gè)人必須背他自己的十字架。) Do not fear going slow, only fear standing still. beat swords into ploughs We widen our views 3 hundred miles by ascending one flight of stairs.
