1.Do you like to have a drink with us?
你要不要和我們?nèi)ズ葍杀?
Drink 這個字雖然是「喝」的意思, 但是如果沒有指明是喝水(drink water)或是喝其它的東西, 則多半指的是喝酒(drink alcohol)的意思.所以如果別人邀請你 “Wanna have a drink with us?” 你可別呆呆地回答, “Drink what?” 那可是會笑死人的喔!另外像是如果聽到某人有很嚴(yán)重的 drinking problem, 指的就是他有「酗酒」的習(xí)慣啦!而不是說他喝東西有問題.不過在快餐店的話是一個例外, 因?yàn)榇蠹叶贾揽觳偷晔遣毁u酒的.所以如果店員問你, “What kinds of drinks do you want?”(你要什么飲料?)則很明顯的這個 drinks 指的是 soft drinks 的意思.2.I'll buy you a drink.我請你喝一杯吧.如果想跟老外建立友誼, 有時候不妨略施小惠.請人家喝杯小酒, 人家會很感激的.不過在他們的觀念里, 你請人家就算是潑出去的水, 別人通常是不會回請的.這跟中國人搶著付帳或是這次我請你, 下次你請我這種禮尚往來的習(xí)俗有很大的不同.另外「請客」的說法還有很多種, 例如比較常聽到的有, “It's on me.”(算我的好了)或是 “My treat.”(我請客).以前在學(xué)校老師教的, “Be my guest.”(當(dāng)我的客人吧!)也有人這樣用, 不過很少聽到就是了.3.Draft, please.請給我生啤酒.Draft 是啤酒的一種, 中文翻譯作「生啤酒」, 我這么說大家就會有些概念吧!生啤酒通常是裝在一個大桶子里, 要喝的時候水龍頭(tap)一扭就是好大的一杯啤酒, 所以酒吧的門口常常掛著斗大的 “On Tap” 招牌, 就是由此而來。此外老美們還喜歡用一種超大像是一顆球一樣的杯子來裝生啤, 這種杯子英文叫 “fishbowl”.以其大小跟魚缸一樣而得名.4.Do you want domestic or imported beer?
你是要國產(chǎn)的還是進(jìn)口的啤酒.如果你是第一次來到一個酒吧想點(diǎn)杯啤酒, 但卻對啤酒一點(diǎn)概念也沒有.通常這時候別人就會問你是要, “Domestic or imported?” 簡而言之就是問你要國產(chǎn)啤酒或是進(jìn)口啤酒啦.像是 Bud Lite, Budweiser 是在美國生產(chǎn)的, Heineken 是在荷蘭生產(chǎn)的, 所以屬于進(jìn)口的(imported)了!
5.My favorite beer is from a microbrewer.我最喜歡的啤酒是一家小釀造廠出產(chǎn)的.那你要喝什么樣的酒才算「酷」呢? 最好是一些越小越?jīng)]人知道的廠牌越好, 這樣表示你的品味與眾不同.這種小酒廠老美就稱之為 microbrewer.另外如果你要更「酷」的話, 你可以說 “I like craft beer”(我喜歡手工釀造的啤酒)或是有一次更夸張, 有一個老美說, “I usually brew beer in my home.”(我都是自己釀酒的)結(jié)果此話一出, 果然大家立刻就對他另眼相看, 爭相問他啤酒要怎么做?
6.Make it two.再給我另一杯.有些情況例如你原來已經(jīng)點(diǎn)了一杯酒, 但是后來想到還有另一個人跟你點(diǎn)同樣的, 所以應(yīng)該要點(diǎn)二杯才對, 這時候你會怎么說呢? “Give me another one?” 呵呵, 這樣說當(dāng)然也沒錯啦.不過我聽老美在這種情況下喜歡用 make 這個動詞.你看 “Make it two.” 不是很簡單明了嗎?
當(dāng)然 make it two 這句話還有很多意思, 例如原來有三個人約好要出去玩, 可是你希望不要有電燈泡, 這時你可以說, “Can we make it two?” 意思就是我們可不可以二個人去? 或者另一種用法例如兩個人原來約三點(diǎn)見面, 但是你覺得三點(diǎn)太晚了, 這時你就可以說, “Can we make it two?”(可以改二點(diǎn)嗎?)記得在電視劇 “Friends” 里有一集就有跟這句雙關(guān)語有關(guān)的劇情.不知道看過的人有沒有印象?
7.I am still sober.我還很清醒.有一個道理大家都知道, 喝醉的人很少說自己醉的說.如果你要說自己醉了的話, 就是 “I am drunk.” 或是俚語的講法可以把 drunk 換成像是 afloat, all at sea, bashed, belted 或是 boozed.但如果你堅持自己是清醒的話, 就是, “I am sober.” 要是你要強(qiáng)調(diào)自己非常清醒的話, 則可以說, “I am stone sober.” 或是 “I am cold sober.” 還有一個跟酒醉有關(guān)的字叫 hangover, 中文翻成宿醉, 也就是指喝醉酒后隔天早上醒來頭痛等等的癥狀.例如你一早醒來發(fā)現(xiàn)頭痛得不得了, 就可以說, “I've got a hangover.Having a hangover sucks.”(我還在宿醉啦.宿醉真討厭.)
8.If you want to puke, just go ahead.如果你想吐的話, 就去吧.「吐」這個動作在英文里叫 puke 或 throw up, 俚語的講法則是 toss(up)one's cookie.一般人比較容易犯的毛病是把 throw up 說成 throw out.因?yàn)楦杏X上「吐」是往外吐而不是往上吐, 所以我自己也常搞不清楚應(yīng)該是 throw up 或是 throw out.
