Alice in wonderland Plot summary Alice and her sister are sitting under a tree when Alice sees the White Rabbit hurry down a rabbit hole.Alice follows the White Rabbit into Wonderland, where she has a series of marvelously imaginative adventures. While searching for the White Rabbit, Alice meets the Cheshire Cat, a playful feline who can appear and disappear at will.On the advice of the Cheshire Cat, Alice attends a tea party at the March Hare's house. After the Mad Hatter tries to cut Alice's hair, she runs away and finds herself in a garden. After a croquet match, Alice is called on to testify against a tart thief in court. She becomes so flustered that she angers the Queen of Hearts, who orders that her head be cut off.Alice then wakes up to discover that it was all a dream.Favourite Character The Cheshire Cat has to be my favorite. His personality is just too delectable. But its personality really is similar to mine. And I appreciate it becuase I learn a lot from it.The Cheshire Cat is a smiling cat who can disappears and reappears at will. The Cheshire Cat is the ironic middle between adulthood and childhood. He reveals to Alice how, after you have mastered the rules then rules can start to master you.He sends her forward to the Mad Hatter and then to the Queen as a lesson in what happens when the rules get out of hand: madness, a sort of childhood for adults.Reflections Though the story is a dream, it shows me many different ideas and truth.I was deeply impressed that as a seven-year-old girl Alice doesn’t cry like a common girl when she falls down the hole, on the contrary she shows her bravery side to us.We’ll have no choice but to face the difficulties when we grow up, but we can’t lose our inherent pure heart.Wonderland is a nice place. It is a place I can follow my heart and do anything I want. That’s why I like this book.I always believe, the world follows your heart, if you think it’s beautiful, then, it would be.A Perfect Life by Danielle Steel Plot summary Blaise McCarthy a single mother who managed her well-ordered career meticulously, always prepared on the air or interviewing world-renowed figures. But privately, there is another untold story she has kept hidden for years.Blaise's teenage daughter, Salima, was blinded by Type 1 diabetes in childhood, and her needs have kept her in a year-round boarding school with full-time medical care and assistance. When Salima's school closes after a tragedy, they face challenges they're never had to deal with before.A new caretaker, Simon Ward, questions how mother and daughter view themselves and each other, turns their world upside down, but the three eventually become friends. Then everything starts to unraval. Her career as she has known it is threatened, she married Simon, and her previously well-ordered life feels totally out of control. For the first time, Blaise's life is not perfect , but real.Reflections I've read some Danielle Steel books since I was a teenager, and I've loved them. She has some truly great reads. This is not one of them.A part of me was worried about this book when the daughter was described as a type one diabetic. My grandmother is also a type one diabetic, so I wondered how Danielle Steel would explain the disease. But when I go ahead, I find I don’t the main character very much.Strong, overachieving female character has the perfect, cosmopolitan life and doesn't need a man.But I don’t admire a woman that has put her career over every facet in her life, including her child. For me, she wasn't admirable, because she completely rendered her daughter helpless by sending her away to a special school so she wouldn't have to deal with the realities of her illness. The plots are mundane and predictable and I don't feel the passion that I once did when I read her books. The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros Plot summary Mango Street, describes Esperanza, the oldest child in a Hispanic family who moves from apartment to apartment each year with her family.Mango Street is her family's first house and the neighborhood becomes a part of her life.Esperanza faces pressure at school, at home, and with her friends in her new life.Reflections A House on Mango Street began to give Latin American women their voice.“You can never have too much sky.You can fall asleep and wake up drunk on sky, and sky can keep you safe when you are sad. Here there is too much sadness and not enough sky.” I’m caught in this world that Cisnero’s painted for me.I really enjoyed the narrator, Esperanza. She felt believable and real. What I liked most about Cisneros using a child as a narrator for the story which makes me feel natural, and Esperanza trying to figure out her world honestly. This book is short, sweet and poignant. It will stay with me for a long time, and I want it to.The No.Ladies’Detective Agency by Alexander McCall Smith Plot summary Precious Ramotswe has only just set up shop as Botswana's No.1 lady detective when she is hired to track down a missing husband, uncover a con man, and follow a wayward daughter. However, the case that lands her in danger, is a missing eleven-year-old boy, who may have been snatched by witchdoctors.Reflections I am a big fan of detective books and I am glad I had a chance to read this first book of the series, and I understand why it is popular. The main character, Precious, is a wonderful character, so likeable, smart, and able to face anything without panic.I also like that the novel is more than a collection of detective stories, but is about the life in Botswana and its people.Lastly, I enjoyed the humor.I look forward to reading more in the series sometimes.I really enjoyed this book, I found it thoroughly entertaining.Sometimes, while reading, I'd get so involved with the case Mma Ramostwe was solving that I wouldn't leave my chair until the case got over. Some of the mysteries are really quite funny and a bit scary.Plot summary

At the beginning of the book, Tom is one of the more fortunate slaves working for the very kind Shelby family who treat their slaves as human beings.Unfortunately, the head of the family, Arthur Shelby, is considerably less kind than his wife and son and one day decides to sell Tom and Eliza’s young son Harry, to a slave trader.Eliza makes a run for it, taking her son with her, but Tom—incredibly pious man that he is—stays put and meekly goes with the slave trader.During his voyage with the slave trader down the Mississippi River Tom meets Augustine St.Clare, a very kind man traveling with his little daughter Eva.Augustine buys Tom and takes him to his home in New Orleans where Tom lives happily for a couple of years, and is promised his freedom by Augustine. Before the emancipation could happen, however, Augustine dies and Tom is sold again. This time, he is bought by the evil plantation owner named Simon Legree, leading to the most harrowing part of the book. This book is one of the most moving, provocative pieces of literature I've ever read, and it's the first time that I can recall being moved to tears from a book.As long as I live, I will never be able to remove from my mind the vision of Eliza, panicked and frenzied, in the dead of the night with her baby boy in her arms, leaping across the frozen ice of the Ohio river to escape the trader her baby had been sold to.

The famous novel “l(fā)ove life” was a sensation in Europe and America, and has been praised Lenin.Works to show the nature of the strong, brave and adventurous spirit of romance, “To Live” strong will to attract me deeply, is excited about reading. This novel, by Jack London with great artistic strength to calm a soul-stirring account of the life and death struggle of the story, showing how to love life to help overcome the death of a person;Despite the Cross, the sick, exhausted, still in In the struggle to keep up with bare hands in the back of a uniform E Lang, and the world of ice and snow through the wildernestruggling to come to the beach, was finally rescued by a whaler. The tragic story, vividly demonstrates the great human and strong.Full display of the depths of human nature Moments, and vivid descriptions of a life's tenacity and strong, struck up a tenacious hymn to life, the spirits can be described as awesome.Life itself contains enormous potential energy.Sometimes life is very fragile moment, it may come to naught;life, but sometimes unusual strong, so strong was amazing. This allows you to power in the face no matter what, even if you swallow is the wild, wild animals, or hunger, disease, and will support you bravely overcome it.And behind the scenes support life, the energy is no doubt that conviction. As long as the hearts of survival is also the belief that they do not easily give up their lives, On the other hand, love life, it is necess

但《The Things They Carried》第一句就吸引了我。

      《The Things They Carried》是他的第五部作品,在其中他試圖解釋為什么自己這么多年都一直在寫戰(zhàn)爭小說——他并沒有直接批評戰(zhàn)爭,批評美國的對越政策,他的源動(dòng)力不過是“講述真實(shí)的戰(zhàn)爭故事”,同時(shí),“通過講故事,你使自己的經(jīng)歷客觀起來。

the women in white it is a story of greed and evil, innocence and betrayal, confused identities and cruel deceptions.it also contains love.whenmr.hart right and miss fairle were separated, they still missed each other much in their own minds and never give up this loyal love.in the end, the gained a happy ending.it reminded me of the things we once loved.sometimes,we are eager about something, such as hobbies and dreams.we think we can keep it eternally in our mind but if always is impossible.we forget it without thinking when we put our thorough attention on others, such as study or career.at last,we lose too much love we once took possession of.they always are most beautiful things in our life.i do hope we can pay more attention to find and preserve this beauty.in this novel, i especially admire laura’s sister marian.she is kind, calm and clever.walter is a handsome and capable man, marian and laura spent 4 months learning drawing from walter, i’m sure she loved walter, but she was selfless and made all her efforts to help the couple be together.she isn’t a beautiful woman, but she is favored by the readers.william wilkie collins was an english novelist, playwright, and author of short stories.he was very popular during the victorian era and wrote 30 novels, more than 60 short stories, 14 plays, and more than 100 nonfiction essays.collins was a lifelong friend of charles dickens.a the invisible man phenomenon.in the fist place, technology may breed endless greedless.this is well illustrated with griffin, who used technology as a tool to make a fortune, even conduct other evil behavior.in the second place, if a scientist does not have a sense of justice and responsibility, misuse will ensure.this scientist is just a case in point, he planed to begin a reign of terror, using his invisibility to terrorize the nation with kemp as his secret confederate.in a word, this is both thought-provoking and interesting story.the mayor of casterbridge hardy mainly reflects the main character’s tragically fate to illustrate the strong force and blind function of fate.human beings can never escape from the puzzle and grief, which is manipulated by tragically fate.in the novel, hardy’s main characters seem to be victims of a blind fate.hardy’s pessimism is mainly portrayed by character’s fate.the failure of henchard and lucetta can be reflected hardy’s view that human beings are never free enough to exert their own will on the universe.through reading the novel, the thing impressed me most is hardy’s deep sympathies are reserved for those people who are unable to protect themselves against fate.hardy does not see them as helpless victims.indeed, there are frequent expressions of hope for the future.that is the real significance of hardy’s pessimism.jamaica inn s aunt patience is also a victim to the cruelty of her husband.secondly, loyalty and courage.as aunt patience is loyal to her husband, so mary is loyal to her aunt.mary has courage and strength of character which prevents her from running away from jamaica inn.she stays to protect her aunt from joss merlyn, and tells him on their first evening that if he ever hurts patience she will set the law against him.this show of courage saves her from the bully.in a word , i love this story , respect mary’s courage and admire the author’s imagination and wisdom.’

great expectation if we never posses anything, we will not mind we lost something.since we don’t want to be very rich, we will not fell despond because poor.the title o this book is great expectation which make an impression on i have learnt a lot from this novel.i believe the real gentlemen are not those who are rich, they should also be generous and kind.and, money may buy many things, but it can’t buy friendship and happiness.it is not worth gaining the money and social position at the cost of losing the precious things.charles dickens was an english writer and social critic.he created some of the worlds most memorable fictional characters and is generally regarded as the greatest novelist of the victorian period.during his life, his works enjoyed unprecedented fame, and by the twentieth century his literary genius was broadly acknowledged by critics and scholars.his novels and short stories continue to be widely popular.his main work including the pickwick papers, oliver twist, david copperfield, great expectation and so on.篇二:英文小說讀后感之飄 gone with the wind 飄(又名:傲慢與偏見)簡介: gone with the wind is a romantic drama and the novel written by margaret mitchell, which sets the american civil war as the background.the novels protagonist, scarlett ohara is the daughter of a planter, who is rich and standing in georgia usa.father gerald is an irish immigrant.arriving in georgia, gerald is penniless but he wins the ownership of the manor of tarot by gambling.after that, he began the venture in this red land, weaving his american dream.until 43 years old, he is married with the daughter named ellen of a french immigrant in east coast knot.gerald is good-natured, but bad-tempered and the young wife has a good family education and strict moral values.she manages the day-to-day affairs of the estate as a whole on her own, even sets the black slaves to the doctor.because of these, the couples get the respects from the white manor and won the love of the black slaves.their daughter scarlett is grown up in this environment.《飄》所講述的是一個(gè)以美國南北戰(zhàn)爭為背景的愛情故事。

gone with the wind, an american romantic novel written by margaret mitchell is a reflection of the civil war.what impresses us most is the spirit of a rebellious georgia woman named scarlett ohara and her travails with friends, family and lovers in the midst of the antebellum south, the american civil war, and the reconstruction period.it also tells the story of love those blossoms between scarlett ohara and rhett butler.this is really a kind of moving story.someone said that the most classic scene in the novel was that when scarlett returned her ruined home, holding the earth in her hand, she promised that no matter to steal or to rob she would篇三:每月一書英文選讀書籍讀后感想表(11月)每月一書:英文選讀書籍讀後感想表(11月)選讀書籍: little women ◎欄位名稱前若有標(biāo)示*者,由主辦單位填寫,參加學(xué)生不須填寫。
