(1)Which of the following is the main point of the passage? 下列哪項是文章的主要觀點?(2)The author is primarily concerned with.

(1)The author mentions which of the following…? 作者提到以下哪個……?(2)According to the author…根據(jù)作者…(3)The author provides information that would answer which of the following questions.

(1)The author develops the passage primarily by…

(2)Which of the following best explains why the author introduces…?

      (1)The passage implies that…

(2)It can be inferred from the passage that……

(3)Which of the following can be inferred from the passage?

      (1)The phrase“——”in the context means…“”

      (2)The word“——”most nearly means…

      (3)Which of the following is closest to the word“…”in paragraph 2?

      (1)The author's attitude towards…

      (2)What's the author's opinion about…?

如:in+correct=incorrdct

      如:green+house=greenhouse

如:smoke+fog-smog(煙霧)Chinese+English-Chinglish(中文式英文)

After a hectic day of work and play, the body needs to rest.Sleep is necessary for good health.During this time, the body recovers from the activities of the previous day.The rest that you get while sleeping enables your body to prepare itself for the next day. There are four levels of sleep, each being a little deeper than the one before. As you sleep, your muscles relax little by little.Your heart beats more slowly, and your brain slows down. After you reach the fourth level, your body shifts back and forth from one level of sleep to the other.Although your mind slows down, from time to time you will dream, Scientists who study sleep state say that when dreaming occurs, your eyeballs begin to move more quickly(although your eyelids are closed). This stage of sleep is called REM, which stands rapid eye movement. If you have trouble falling asleep, some people recommend breathing very slowly and very deeply.Other people believe that drinking warm milk will help make you drowsy. There is also an old suggestion that counting sheep will put you to sleep!Question: A good title for this passage is____.A.sleep B.good health C.dreams D.work and rest 說明:本題屬于主旨型試題,答案為A項。

Languages are marvelously complex and wonderfully complicated organs of culture: they embody the quickest and the most efficient means of communicating within their respective culture;in the words of a poet and philosopher,“ As many languages as one speaks, so many lives one lives”.A culture and its languages are as inseparable as brain and body;while one is a part of the other, neither can function without the other. In learning a foreign language, the best beginning is with the non-verbal linguistic elements of the language, its gestures, its body language.Eye contact is extremely important in English.Direct eye contact leads to understanding, or, as the English maxim has it, seeing eye-to-eye.We can never see eye-to-eye with a native speaker of English until we have learned to look directly into his eyes.Question: According to this passage, the best way to learn a foreign language is____.A.to read the works of poets and philosophers B.to find a native speaker and look directly into his eyes C.to begin by learning its body language

D.to visit a country where English is spoken 原文中的第四名“In learning a foreign language, the best beginning is with the non-verbal linguistic elements of the language, its gestures, its body language.”,其中“non-verbal”意為“非語言的”。 因此“to begin by learning its body language”正好與題意吻合,故應(yīng)推斷C項為正確答案。

Very high waves are destructive when they strike the land.Fortuately, this seldom happens. One reason is that out at sea, waves moving in one direction almost always run into waves moving in a different direction. The two sets of waves tend to cancel each other out.Another reason is that water is shallower near the shore. As a wave gets closer to land, the shallow bottom helps reduce its strength. But the power of waves striking the shore can still be very great.During a winter gale, waves sometimes strike the shore with the force of 6,000 pounds for each square foot. That means a wave, 25 feet high and 500 feet along its face, may strike the shore with a force of 75 million pounds.Yet the waves, no matter how big or how violent, affect only the surface of the sea.During most raging storms, the water a hundred fathoms(600 feet)beneath the surface is just as calm as on a day without a breath of wind.Question: From your reading of the paragraph, which of the following is true? A.At a depth of 1,200 feet the effects ofa violent surface storm are frightful.B.A submarine commander navigating his vessel at a depth of 700 feet will not be affected by a raging surface storm.C.A typhoon 500 miles out at sea can stir up the ocean bed.D.If high waves can strike the shore with a horizontal force of 75 million pounds, the vertical force of such waves can have an even greater effect upon the ocean floor.

1:Hillary Rodham Clinton released the first television spot of her Senate campaign this morning, a 30-second commercial that will begin airing statewide on Thursday. The spot, titled “First,” uses numerous still photos to highlight landmarks in Mrs.Clinton's career, while the voiceover says she is “more than a fist lady.”

There is no mention of Mrs.Clinton's rival for New York's Senate seat, New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson said the ad was “positive” and “biographical,” instead of focusing on the first lady's opponent.Mrs.Clinton has previously aired radio ads, but has generally stayed with a strategy of making extensive campaign appearances instead of using television spots, while Giuliani has already run statewide TV ads.Text of Hillary Commercial: First she became a lawyer, named one of the top hundred in America. Her first cause was children, fighting abuse and chairing the board of the Children's Defense Fund. Her first priority was public schools, helping to establish teacher testing.More than a first lady. For 30 years, she's fought for children and families. As New York's senator, she'll fight for better schools and heath care for children.Hillary, Put her to work for all of us.1.What does the word “air” in the first sentence mean?

A.dry B.express C.breathe D.broadcast 2.What does “more than first lady” in the first paragraph suggest?

A.Hillary is not a first lady.B.Hillary does much more than what a first lady is expected to do.C.There are more women in America who does better than Hillary does.D.Hillary is doing better than her husband.3.Which of the following statement is true regarding the Senator campaign according the passage? A.Hillary has appeared on TV shot for mumerous times.B.Hillary rarely makes her public appearance.C.Giuliani has made TV advertisement for himself.D.Hillary has a bigger chance to win the campaign.4.Hillary's campaign focuses on all the flooowing except_____.A.children's health careB.school education for children C.combating child abuseD.family planning policy 5.Which of the following can best serve as the title of this passage? A.First Lady's Senator CampaignB.Hillary's TV Advertisement C.A Rivalry for New York's Senate SeatD.The Focuses of Hillary Campaign [難點]1.

      3. Voiceover:

而其他三個詞A(曬干),B(表達)和C(呼吸)均與原義不符,故不能入選。

      解析:本題提問的是第一段里“more than first lady”是什么意思。

America is in no immediate danger of “running out of water”.People in the West have been aware that water is a precious commodity and must be conserved. In the damp East, an excess of water led to complacency until two factors created concern over our water supply.First, the periods of drought from the 1961 to 1966 in the Northeast affected crop production and used up the surface and ground water supplies.Second, attention was called to rapid increases in the rates of pollution of these waters resulting from increased urban and industrial growth. As a result, there is an increasing awareness of the need for conserving the quantity and quality of our nation's water supplies.Water is a renewable resource, but it is not exhaustible. When used for municipal, industrial, or agricultural purposes, it is not destroyed, but generally finds its way back into our water supply. This used water now carries some waste materials. These dirty waters are often dumped into large bodies of water or are disposed of on land.In the latter instance, evaporation concentrates some of the wastes on the soil surface. On the other hand, water moving through the soil will eventually carry some of the wastes down into the ground water supplies, Eventually, all water evaporates and later returns to the earth as rain or snow in a relatively purer state.Through this never-ending cycle, there is just as much water in this country now as there ever was.The amount, however, does not increase. Our rapid population growth and our agricultural and industrial expansion have caused our water needs to soar.By withdrawing water from streams too quickly, we have in some instances upset the balance of nature's built-in renewal processes for conserving water. As a result, some of our streams and lakes have become “wet deserts.” There is still plenty of water in them, but its water is so polluted that it supports almost no life at all.1.The passage is mainly about_____.A.water resources of the United StatesB.the renewal processes of water in mature C.the importance of water conservationD.water pollution in America 2.The word “drought” in the sentence “First, the periods of drought——ground water supplies.” Most probably means_____.A.catastrophe of too much rainB.danger of running out of water C.calamity dry weatherD.damage caused by typhoon 3.Water is relatively purer in_____.A.fast moving streams and riversB.underground water supplies C.mountainous areasD.rain and snow 4.When theauthor says that lakes have become “wet deserts”,._____ A.he is being angryB.he is being optimistic C.he is being sadD.he is being humorous 5.It is implied in the passage that______ A.water can be polluted by desertsB.there are many water conservation programs in America C.water keeps evaporating from the earth's surfaceD.water is not polluted by waster maberials [難點]1.run out of用完,耗盡2.commodity商品,貨物3.complacency自滿,滿足4.drought長期干旱,旱災(zāi) 5.result from是——的結(jié)果,由于——而發(fā)生6.inexhaustible用不完的,無窮盡的7.municipal市政的,市辦的 8.dispose of處理,丟掉,清除9.evaporation蒸發(fā)10.withdraw提取,取回11.deposit放下,放置 [答案]1.C考點:這是一道典型的文章主旨題。

解析:答案在文章第二段的最一句:“Eventually, all water evaporates and later returns to the earth as rain or snow in a relatively purer state.”(最終所有的水蒸發(fā),然后以更加純凈的形式降雨或降雪回到地球。)

解析:根據(jù)文章第二段的最后一句:“Eventually, all water evaporates and later returns to the earth as rain or snow in a relatively purer state.”,我們可以推斷出水不停地從地球表面蒸發(fā)掉,然后在高空中變成水的固態(tài)形式。

In what now seems like the prehistoric times of computer history, the early postwar era, there was a quite widespread concern that computers would take over the world from man one day.Already today, less than forty years later, as computers are relieving us of more and more of the routine tasks in business and in our personal lives, we are faced with a less dramatic but also less foreseen problem.People tend to be over-trusting of computers and are reluctant to challenge their authority.Indeed, they behave as if they were hardly aware that wrong buttons may be pushed, or that a computer may simply malfunction.Obviously, there would be no point in investing in a computer if you had to check all its answers, but people should also rely on their own internal computers and check the machine when they have the feeling that something has gone awry.Questioning and routine double checks must continue to be as much a part of good business as they were in pre-computer days.Maybe each computer should come with the following warning: for all the help this computer may provide, it should not be seen as a substitute for fundamental thinking and reasoning skills.1.What is the main purpose of this passage? A.To look back to the early days of computers.B.To explain what technical problems may occur with computers.C.To discourage unnecessary investment in computers.D.To warn against a mentally lazy attitude towards computers.2.According to the passage, initial concerns about computers were that they might_____ A.lead us into the post-war eraB.be quite widespreadC.take controlD.take over routine tasks 3.The passage recommends those dealing with computers to_____ A.be reasonably skeptical abort themB.check all their answers C.substitute them for basic thinkingD.use them for business purposes only 4.An “internal computer” is_____

A.a computer uses exclusively by one company for its own problems B.a person's store of knowledge and the ability to process it C.the most up-to-date in-house computer a company can buyD.a computer from the post-war era which is very reliable 5.The passage suggests that the present-day problem with regard to computers is_____ A.challengingB.psychologicalC.dramaticD.malfunctioning [難點]1.widespread 普遍的,廣泛的2.relieve 減輕,解除,使得到解脫3.dramatic 引人注目的,突然的4.foreseen 預(yù)見的,預(yù)知的5.reluctant 不情愿的,不愿意的6.authority 權(quán)威7.malfunction 發(fā)生故障,發(fā)生功能障礙8.invest 投資;花錢買;耗費,投入9.rely on 依賴,依靠10.go awry 出岔子,失??;(人)背離正道11.substitute 代替物,代用器 [答案]1.D考點:這是一道典型的文章主旨題。

解析:問題的答案在文章的第一句之中:“In what now seems like the prehistoric times of computer history, the early postwar era, there was a quite widespread concern that computers would take over the world from man one day.”(在計算機歷史的前期即戰(zhàn)后初期,人們普遍擔心計算機可以能會代替人類統(tǒng)治世界)選項C與這一句的含義完全一致,故為正確答案。

解析:文章第二段第二句說:“Questioning and routine double checks must continue to be as much a part of good business as they were in pre-computer days.”

      連詞:that(that ??墒÷?,whether, if

      代詞:who, whose, what ,which

      副詞:when ,where, how, why 等。

say, think, insist, wish, hope, demand, imagine, wonder, know, suppose, see, believe, agree, admit, deny, expect, explain, order, command, feel, dream, suggest, hear, mean, notice, prefer, request, require, propose, declare, report等。

例句:The boy believes that he will travel through space to other planets.

I don’t think it is right for him to treat you like that.

He said(that)you were too young to understand the matter and that he was asked not to tell you.

Just then I noticed, for the first time, that our master was wearing his fine green coat and his black silk cap.

I can’t tell him that his mother died. I find it necessary that we should do the homework on time.(二)由whether,if 引導(dǎo)的賓語從句

I wonder whether(if)they will come to our party.

We decided whether to walk there.

I’m thinking of whether we should go to see the film.

We discussed whether we had a sports meeting next week

      直接與or not連用時

例句:I can’t say whether or not thet can come on time.

The students will go on a picnic if it is sunny.if引導(dǎo)否定概念的賓語從句時

He asked if I didn’t come to school yesterday.引導(dǎo)狀語從句even if(即使)和as if(好象)時

例句:He talks as if he has known all about it.(三)連接代詞和連接副詞引導(dǎo)的賓語從句

用于這種結(jié)構(gòu)的動詞常常是:see, say, tell, ask, answer, know, decide, show, find out, imagine, suggest, doubt, wonder, discover, understand, inform, advise等。

Can you tell me whom you are waiting for?

      英語中的連接副詞有:when,where,why,how,在句中擔任狀語的成分。

例句:None of us knows where these new parts can be bought.

I don’t know what they are looking for.Could you tell me when the train will leave?

Can you imagine what kind of man he is?

The headmaster hopes everything goes well.

She was sorry that she hadn’t finished her work on time. The teacher told his class that light travels faster than sound.

      連接詞that引導(dǎo)賓語從句在句中無詞義,不充當句子成份,多數(shù)情況下可以省略。

      whether 和 if 都可引導(dǎo)賓語從句,但 whether后可緊跟or not;whether從句可作介詞的賓語。如果從句太長,可以用形式賓語it.48個國際音標助記口訣

      have和be提句首,其它助詞Do開頭。時間、人稱由do變,動詞只把原形留。謂語助詞有幾個,第一助詞提句首。

      肯定句變否定句口訣

      否定詞語加not,放在be和have后;其它要加動詞do,do的后面加not;

      時間、人稱由do變,動詞原形總保留;謂語若是助詞多,not緊跟第一個。

      名詞所有格變化口訣

      名詞只變數(shù),不分主賓格。人和動物類,可變所有格。

      撇后加s,相當漢語“的”。時間、距離等,也變所有格。

      名詞變復(fù)數(shù)口訣

      單數(shù)變?yōu)閺?fù)數(shù)式,加上“s”統(tǒng)言之。

      下列結(jié)尾名詞后,要加“s”先加“e”:

      發(fā)音[∫][t∫][s]和[z],或是輔音加“o”時。

      有些名詞變復(fù)數(shù),詞尾變化要注意:

      “y”前字母是輔音,一律變“y”為“ie”;

      遇到“f/fe”,有時需要變“ve”;

      少數(shù)名詞不規(guī)則,特別情況靠硬記。

      時間名詞前所有介詞的速記口訣

      年月周前要用in,日子前面卻不行。

      動詞的時態(tài)變化口訣

      四種時間各四式,聯(lián)想對比便于記。

      時間現(xiàn)在和過去,各自還有將來時。

      過去原形加“ed”,過去分詞也相同;原形加上“ing”,現(xiàn)在分詞或動名。

      原形詞尾加“s”,如同名詞復(fù)數(shù)式。若加“ed/ing”,以下情況要注意:

      詞尾有ie只加d,Ing去掉無聲e;詞尾ie變成y,然后再加ing;

      輔音之后y結(jié)尾,y要變i加ed;現(xiàn)在分詞不變y,直接加上ing;

      詞尾重讀閉音節(jié),結(jié)尾輔音都雙寫,r做結(jié)尾也一樣,重讀音節(jié)r雙寫;

      結(jié)尾字母若是“t”,不是重讀也雙寫。過去分詞過去式,不按規(guī)則也有些。

      二是時態(tài)常變化,主句不同從句異。主句若為現(xiàn)在時,從句時態(tài)應(yīng)看意;主句若為過去時,從句時態(tài)向前移。

      輔音加y(ly)除外有型感,按照去y,-er,-iest方法辦。

      上述皆屬單音部分雙音段,下面把多音節(jié)規(guī)律來看看。

      詞前加more,most此規(guī)律喚。規(guī)則變化到此已全都談完。

4.As the school year kicks off, parents are once again straggling to cajole(哄騙)and, if need be, drag their exhausted teens out of bed. That image may make you laugh, but lack of sleep is no joke.(77)Teenagers who don’t get enough rest have more learning, health, behavior and mood

problems than students who get at least nine hours a night.Long-term lack of sleep is tied to heart disease, overweight, depression and a shortened life span in adults, indicating the importance of establishing good sleep habits early in life.Lack of sleep can be especially deadly for teens;car accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers, and safety experts believe sleepy driving is a major factor.Unfortunately, few teenagers get the sleep they need.In a survey of middle-and high-school students, University of Colorado researchers found that 82 percent said they woke up tired and unrefreshed, and more than half had trouble concentrating during the day at least once a week.Blame multitasking for some of this. Many students are juggling after-school activities, homework and part-time jobs.Even when they manage to fulfill these obligations by a reasonable hour, television, the Internet, video games, phone calls and text messages to friends often keep them awake deep into the night.Taking soda and energy drinks late in the day and going to late-night parties on weekends add to sleep debt.Biology also works against teenagers’ sleep. The body’s internal clock, which controls when a person starts to feel tired, shifts after puberty(青春期), making it hard for most teens to fall asleep before 11 pm.Class usually begins before 8:15 am, with many high schools starting as early as 7:15 am.To get to school on time, most teens have to get up by 6:30 am, guaranteeing they’ll be sleep-deprived during the week.Teens often sleep much later on weekends to catch up, making it even harder to fall asleep on Sunday night and wake up Monday morning.Playing catch-up on weekends also doesn’t help teens stay refreshed when they need it most: during the week at school.Since the 1990s, middle and high schools in more than two dozen states have experimented with later school start times.(78)The results have been encouraging: more sleep, increased attendance, better grades and fewer driving accidents. But most schools still start early, meaning teens have their work cut out for them if they want to get enough sleep.6.According to the passage, poor sleep can be linked to all of the following EXCEPT______.A.heart disease B.car accidents C.skin problems D.poor concentration 7.The main idea of Paragraph 3 is______.A.how sleep deprivation(缺乏)can be treated B.what causes sleep deprivation C.who is most at risk for sleep deprivation D.why sleep deprivation is a serious concern 8.What does the word “juggling” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?

A.Enjoy Work Without Pay B.Can Work, Won’t Work C.Should Work, Shouldn’t Play D.Hate Work or Love Work 正確答案:DCDAA 8.What most people don't realize is that wealth isn't the same as income. If you make $ 1 million a year and spend $ 1 million, you're not getting wealthier;you just living high.Wealth is what you accumulate, not what you spend. How do you become wealthy? There, too, most people have it wrong. It's rarely luck or inheritance or even intelligence that builds fortunes.Wealth is more often the inexorable(無情的)result of a person's hard work, perseverance(堅定不移)and most of all, self-discipline.The most successful accumulators of wealth spend less than they can on houses, cars, vacations and entertainment. Why? Because these things offer little or no return. The wealthy would rather put their money into investments or their businesses. It's an attitude. The best wealth-builders pay careful attention to their money and seek professional advice. Those who spend heavily on cars, boats and houses, I've found, tend to skimp(節(jié)約使用)on investment advice. Those who skimp on the luxuries are usually more willing to pay top dollar for good legal and financial advice. The self-made rich develop clear goals for their money. They may wish to retire early, or they may want to leave an estate to their children. The goals vary, but two things are consistent: they have a dollar figure in mind-the amount they want or save by age 50, perhaps---and they work unceasingly toward that goal. One thing may surprise you.If you make wealth---not just income---your goal, the luxury house you've been dreaming about won't seem so alluring(吸引人的).You'll have the attitude.1、You are wealthy if you ______.A、earn a large income B、enjoy a high standard of life C、are able to spend large sums of money D、save up an amount of money 正確答案:D

2、Which is the most important factor to be wealthy? A、Good fortune.B、Intelligence.C、Hard work D、Self-discipline 正確答案:D

3、Why don't the wealthy spend much money on cars, vacation and entertainment? A、Because they cannot afford on these luxuries.B、Because they can not gain wealth form these things.C、Because they are busily engaged in their business and thus have no free time.D、Because they put their money into other investments, which leaves them no money for these things.

4、Which kind of the following people would be most likely seek professional advice? A、The people who intend to buy house.B、The people who have financial problem.C、The people who invest in business.D、The workers who build up a skyscraper.

5、Which of the following statement is TRUE? A、The rich people have the same goal of retiring at 50 when they have earned a certain sum of money.B、The wealthy people share two things-the amount of money they will make and diligence.C、The wealthy people usually retire at the age of 50 and then enjoy the rest of life happily.D、Luxurious home is a sign of people's wealth, so wealthy people are sure to buy it.

9.It seems like every day there’s some new research about whether our favorite drinks are good for us.(76)One day, science says a glass of red wine a day will help us live longer. The next day, maybe not.It seems journalists are pretty interested in wine research and the same might be said for coffee. Now, there’s been a lot of research into whether coffee’s good for our health.“The results have really been mixed”, admits Neal Freedman who led the coffee study and published his findings in a medical journal recently.“There's been some evidence that coffee might increase the risk of certain diseases and there’s also been maybe more recent evidence that coffee may protect against other diseases as well.”

Freedman and his colleagues undertook the biggest study yet to look at the relationship between coffee and health. They analyzed data collected from more than 400,000 Americans ages 50 to 71 participating in the study.“We found that the coffee drinkers had a modestly lower risk of death than the non-drinkers,” he said. Here's what he means by “modestly”: those who drank at least two or three cups a day were about 10 percent or 15 percent less likely to die for any reason during the 13 years of the study. When the researchers looked at specific causes of death, coffee drinking appeared to cut the risk of dying from heart disease, lung disease, injuries, accidents and infections Now, Freedman stressed that the study doesn’t prove coffee can make people live longer.A study like this can never prove a cause-and-effect relationship.(77)All it can really do is to point researchers in the right direction for further investigation. And even if it turns out that coffee is really good for you, scientists have no idea why.1.According to the first paragraph, reporters would like to know the research findings of ____.A.tea B.beer C.alcohol D.coffee 2.According to the passage, which of the following is TRUCE? 11.When we’re learning a foreign language, making sense of what we hear is the first step toward fluency. It sounds obvious, but until recently, we didn’t know much about how listening works.New research demonstrates that effective listening involves more than simply hearing the words that float past our ears.Rather, it’s an active process of receiving information and making meaning. This kind of engaged listening is a skill that’s as critical for learning a range of subjects at school and work as it is for learning to understand a foreign tongue.(78)Studies of skilled language learners have identified specific listening strategies that lead to superior comprehension.Last year, for example, University of Ottawa researcher Larry Vandergrift published his study of 106 undergraduates who were learning French as a second language.Half of the students were taught in a conventional fashion, listening to and practicing texts spoken aloud. The other half, possessing the same initial(最初的)skill level and taught by the same teacher, were give detailed instruction on how to listen. It turned out that the second group “significantly outperformed”(勝過)the first one on a test of comprehension. So what are these listening strategies? Skilled learners go into a listening class with a sense of what they want to get of it.(79)They set a goal for their listening, and they generate predictions about what the speaker will say. Before the talking begins, they mentally review what they already know about the subject, and form an intention to “l(fā)isten out for” what’s important or relevant.Once they begin listening, these learners maintain their focus;if their attention wanders, they bring it back to the words being spoken. They don’t allow themselves to be thrown off by confusing or unfamiliar details.Instead, they take note of what they don’t understand and make inferences about what those things might mean, based on other clues available to them: their previous knowledge of the subject, the context(語境)of the talk, the identity of the speaker, and so on.6.What is the main idea of this passage?

A.Effective listening means hearing the words that float past our ears.B.Developing your listening skills is the first step toward developing fluency.C.Skilled listeners use specific strategies to get the most out of what they hear.D.Listening is one of the most powerful tools we have to gain information.7.What does Vandergrift’s research show?

A.Learners who adopt specific listening strategies become better listeners.B.Learners taught in the traditional way are better at reinforcing what they learn.C.Learners are more confident if they make fewer mistakes.D.Learners who listen on a regular basis improve faster.8.Which of the following statements about Vandergrift’s research is TRUE?

A.The participants were postgraduates learning French as a second language.B.All the participants were taught using the conventional method, with the focus on listening strategies.C.The two groups were taught by different teacher.D.The participants were at the same initial skill level.9.The expression “thrown off” in the third paragraph is closest in meaning to “_____”.A.infected B.confused C.ruined D.Informed

10.According to the passage, which of the following strategies is NOT used by skilled learners?

A.Review their prior knowledge of the subject.B.Concentrate on the speaker’s words.C.Translate into their native language.D.Predict what the speaker will way. CADBC 12.How do the American office men and women dress themselves when they go to work? In certain kinds of businesses the men wear only suits of a conservative nature with white shirts and dark ties;in others, men wear blazers and quiet-pattern sport Jackets. In some institutions women know instinctively to wear skirts(there are no rules posted saying they should not wear pants). In some other types of Jobs women wear pantsfreely, and in certain other jobs thatdemand physical activity pants are almost a necessity. In conservative business such as banks, insurance companies, and company headquarters, men and women should have one fashion and one only;to dress in good taste.Good taste does not need a major investment in designers' originals;good taste means dressing in an understated rather than overstated manner. The importance of grooming cannot be overemphasized.Without it, there is no successful fashion. It would be helpful if everyone were to go over their grooming check list in front of a full-length mirror before leaving home each morning.Career people can keep a full set of toiletries and make-up stored somewhere at the office.A woman going to an evening party should dress in the morning in one of her ”basic dresses“-the kind that can change into a different look with an added scarf or jewelry. She can metamorphose herself into another person with freshly cleaned teeth, combed hair, a new face, a different and dressier pair of shoes, and some sparkling jewelry. In addition to a razor and toothbrush, men should keep a change of shirt in their office so that they can go off in the evening looking refreshed. If the occasion is formal they too must store their black-tie paraphernalia and their dressy black shoes in their office.1、According to the text, some women have to work in pants because _______.A、pants are almost a necessity for their work B、there are no rules for them not to work in pants C、they know instinctively that pants are good for their work D、men like women working in pants

2、”dress in good taste"(in Paragraph 3)may refer to_______.A、dress in special quality B、dress in the designer's original

What is the main idea of the passage? Which of the following would be the best title? What’s the best title for the passage? The main idea of the passage is that _____.This passage tells us _____.Which of the following statements best expresses the main idea of the passage? What does the passage mainly discuss?

often one hears children wishing they were grown up, and old people wishing they were young again. Each age has its pleasures and its pains, and the happiest person is the one who enjoys what each age gives him without wasting his time in useless regrets.Childhood is a time when there are few responsibilities to make life difficult. If a child has good parents, he is fed, looked after and loved ,whatever he may do.It is impossible that he will ever again in his life be given so much without having to do anything in return. In addition ,life is always presenting new things to the child——things that have lost their interest for older people because they are too well-know.But a child has his pains: he is not so free to do what he wishes to do;he is continually being told not to do things, or being punished for what he has done wrong. When the young man starts to earn his own living, he can no longer expect others to pay for his food, his clothes, and his room, but has to work if he wants to live comfortably. If he spends most of his time playing about in the way that he used to as a child, he will go hungry. And if he breaks the laws of society as he used to break the laws of his parents, he may go to prison. If however, he works hard, keeps out of trouble and has good health, he can have the great happiness of building up for himself his own position in society.

The main idea of the passage is that _____.A.life is not enjoyable since each age has some pains

C.childhood is the most enjoyable time in one’s life

D.one is the happiest if he can make good use of each age in his life
