      Learning:A Lifelong Career【學(xué)習(xí):一生的事業(yè)】

As food is to the body, so is learning to the mind. Our bodies grow and muscles develop with the intake of adequate nutritious food.Likewise, we should keep learning day by day to maintain our keen mental power and expand our intellectual capacity.Constant learning supplies us with inexhaustible fuel for driving us to sharpen our power of reasoning, analysis, and judgment.Learning incessantly is the surest way to keep pace with the times in the information age, and an infallible warrant of success in times of uncertainty.Once learning stops, vegetation sets in.It is a common fallacy to regard school as the only workshop for the acquisition of knowledge. On the contrary, learning should be a never-ending process, from the cradle to the grave. With the world ever changing so fast, the cease from learning for just a few days will make a person lag behind. What's worse, the animalistic instinct dormant deep in our subconsciousness will come to life, weakening our will to pursue our noble ideal, sapping our determination to sweep away obstacles to our success and strangling our desire for the refinement of our character.Lack of learning will inevitably lead to the stagnation of the mind, or even worse, its fossilization, Therefore, to stay mentally young, we have to take learning as a lifelong career.

In my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to high school students is too heavy. While it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults.High should be allowed more time for play.Plying is not wasting time, as some think. It gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination.Which tends to be stifled by too much study. Finally, the pressure put on high school students by excessive schoolwork can cause serious stress, which is unhealthy physically and mentally.I do not advocate the elimination of schoolwork.I do think, however, that a reduction of the current heavy load would be beneficial to students and to the society as a whole.

      Time【時(shí)間】

Lost time is never found again. This is something which I learned very clearly last semester.I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer.I finally realized that something had to be done.It was time for a change. Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely.I have set my alarm clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day.I have also decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it.Looking back on what I’ve done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.

      Work and Play【工作與娛樂(lè)】

Work and play do not contradict each other;in fact, they complement each other. As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.” A life burdened with work leads you nowhere, for you would get tired and bored with your daily routine work.On the other hand, proper recreation will relieve the tension and discomfort of our monotonous life because it offers you various ways to let out your pent-up emotions. What I usually do to relax after school is jogging and seeing movies.Usually I don't spare time for exercise, but I value the physical education class at school.Jogging several rounds in the field certainly relieves the day's pressure. On weekends, I'll catch the morning movie for my visual enjoyment.I feel revived and energetic for another week's work-load.

      My first Job【

My first job was at a cramming school. It was three years ago when I just graduated from junior high school and finished the entrance examination.since I had nothing to do that summer, I decided to find a job, tasting the joy of independence.I was responsible for answering the telephone and taking the message.I worked eight hours a day, six days a week. The work was not difficult nor heavy to me and I guess I did well. The most delighted thing was perhaps that I could spend the money I earned all by myself.

      My Favorite Sports【我最喜愛(ài)的運(yùn)動(dòng)】

Sports help everyone to keep healthy, happy, and efficient. So I pay special attention to games, especially table-tennis.Table tennis is my favorite game.I play it almost every day.Table-tennis is an ideal game us because it brings the whole body into action. It strengthens our muscles, expands our lungs, promotes the circulation of the blood, and causes a healthy action of the skin.Besides, it is very amusing and does not cost us much money.Table-tennis is very moderate;it is not so rough as football. It is an indoor game and can be played even on rainy days. Thus, it is my favorite kind of exercise.

(一)Tom was an eight-year-old boy.He come to a new town with his parents. His family was very rich(富有的).They lived in a big, beautiful house with a big garden. They had a driver,a cook,a gardener(園丁)anda lot of servants(傭人).Tom was going to a new school. On the first day his mother said to him,“Tom,be modest(謙虛)at school.Don't say we are rich.” Tom said,“All right,Mom.”

Then Tom went to his new school and met his new teacher and new classmates. And he sat down with the other children in his class. The teacher said,“Good morning, boys and girls. This is Tom,your new classmate. Now let him introduce himself to you.”

Tom stood up and said,“My name is Tom.My family is poor(窮).My father is very poor. The gardener is very poor. The cook is very poor. And all the other servants are very poor.So I am very poor, too``` ”

湯母站起來(lái)說(shuō):”我叫湯母,我家里很窮,我爸爸非常窮,園丁非常窮,廚師也非常窮,所有的傭人都非常窮,所以我也非常窮......(二)I think both of the boys and girls can cry.cry is not a reflect of weakness,it's just an approach of expressing one's emotions.Man who lost his lover will cry, solders who see the moving stories during they rescue the victims in Sichuan will cry ,too.there is a phrase in the movie“arrogant and prejudice”like“when the time comes i want to cry,i will look up and watch the stars in the sky,so that the tears won't run off.” so ,everyone will cry,it's just noone want others to know, there's nothing about that a true man won't cry at all.

      父母對(duì)我的愛(ài)(My Parents Love To Me)

My father is a peasant.Four years ago he came to the city, and found a job.And then my mother and I moved here.At that time, my father earned little money and could hardly support the family.I was small, short and thin then.My parents sometimes bought me some good food for me.I remember clearly once they gave me the roast chicken.Oh, I liked it best.I asked them to eat together, but they both said they didn''t like it.So I ate it up.Now our life is better. One evening, my father bought some roast chichen again, and we ate it happily.Suddenly, I understood why they didn''t eat it before. They just wanted me to eat it.This is my parents'' love!【譯文】

(My Vacation Plan)

I''m a Middle School''s student.I am busy.Next summer, I have a long vacation and I have a very good plan for this vacation.I think about going to the Beijing.I heard Beijing is beautiful and there are many peopie there who are friendly.I am going to the Tian''an Men Square, going to the Palace Museum ,going to the Great Wall and going to the Beijing Hutong. These famous places can make me to have fun.For something else , I can go shopping, go sightseeing, go having a lot foods. At night, maybe renting videos and sleeping a lot……

One day a traveling salesman was driving down a back country road at about 30 mph when he noticed that there was a three-legged chicken running alongside his car.He stepped on the gas but at 50 miles per hour. The chicken was still keeping up.After about a mile of running the chicken ran up a farm lane and into a barn behind an old farm house. The salesman had some time to kill so he turned around and drove up the farm lane.He knocked at the door and when the farmer answered he told him what he had just seen. The farmer said that he was a geneticist and had developed this breed of chicken because he, his wife and his son each like a drumstick when they have chicken and this way they only have to kill one chicken.“That''s the most fantastic thing I've ever heard,” said the salesman.“How do they taste?”

“I don't know,” said the farmer.“We've never caught one.”

      農(nóng)場(chǎng)主告訴旅行推銷員,他是一名遺傳學(xué)者,他培育出這種三條腿的雞,是因?yàn)樗推拮?,還有他們的兒子,都喜歡吃雞腿。培育出這種三條腿的雞,當(dāng)他們?nèi)页噪u的時(shí)候,只需要?dú)⑺酪恢浑u,就可以每個(gè)人都能吃到一個(gè)雞腿了。

      “這是我聽(tīng)過(guò)最奇妙的想法了”,旅行推銷員說(shuō),“它的味道怎么樣?”

      “我不知道,”農(nóng)場(chǎng)主說(shuō),“我一次也沒(méi)有抓住過(guò)?!? A great vacation!I can''t wait!

      第二篇:英語(yǔ)小文章

      初中照稿發(fā)言題目參考 I’m happy!I have a new pen friend.Here is an email and now I can send.My pen friend’s in England.Her name is Sue.Give me your address.You can be my friend, too.We can write about hobbies and families and friends.We can always write emails and always be friends.This old owl lives in a tree.He likes to look.He likes to see.He likes to hear but not to say.We can learn a lesson from that owl today.I’m making a list of things I like doing.Laughing and playing and running and stamping.Flying a kite and singing and clapping.Having a picnic.Climbing a tree.Reading a good book.Watching TV.Do you want to go to the sea? She put the hen in the basket.She put the basket on the bike.Then she went away.And she didn’t say “Thank you”!In October 2003, Shenzhou V flew into space with Yang Liwei.Yang Liwei spent about twenty-one hours in space.He made a video and now he is very famous.Look up at the spaceship flying in the sky.Shenzhou went into space.It made a loud sound.It went to new places and travelled round and round.And inside the spaceship, there was a Chinese man.I want to meet him and I want to shake his hand.School is nearly finished.It’s time to start anew.Now I can speak English.I can speak to you.It’s time to say goodbye now.School is going to end.But we can write in English and we can always be friends.Every year in August 15 is Mid-Autumn Festival.At this time the people all want to eat the moon cake, to enjoy looking at the moon.The family member reunites, because that day moon is roundest.Also has many wonderful stories about Mid-Autumn Festival's moon, is having these expectations.Today we have higher buildings and wider highways, but shorter temperaments and narrower points of view;

We spend more, but enjoy less;We have bigger houses, but smaller families; We have more compromises, but less time;We have more knowledge, but less judgment; We have more medicines, but less health; We talk much, we love only a little, and we hate too much.Spend more time with your family and friends, eat your favorite foods, visit the places you love;Let's write that letter we thought of writing “one of these days”!Let's tell our families and friends how much we love them;Every day, every hour, and every minute is special; And you don't know if it will be your last.I’ve been studying English for three year.I did feel it is very hart to learn English.I even could not spell words rightly.I’ve made a great progress with teacher and classmates’ help later.During my English study, I know that, only with hard work can you on study.I have an advice for you, do not sleep on class and follow teacher to do what he want you to do, or it will be your biggest mistake that in your study way.Jim is an English boy.He comes to China with his father and mother. They come here to work.Jim comes here to study. He is in No.5 Middle School. He studies hard.He can read English well.He often helps us with our English, and we often help him with his Chinese. He makes many friends here.We are glad to stay with him.On Sunday he often helps his mother clean the house, mend something or do the shopping.Tom arrived at the bus station quite early for Paris bus.The bus for Paris would not leave until five to twelve. He saw a lot of people waiting in the station. Some were standing in line, others were walking around. There was a group of schoolgirls.Their teacher was trying to keep them in line.Tom looked around but there was no place for him to sit.My first job was at a cramming school. It was three years ago when I just graduated from junior high school and finished the entrance examination.Since I had nothing to do that summer, I decided to find a job, tasting the joy of independence.Time is important.Everyone has 24 hours in a day. There are 365 days in a year.Once a day runs out in our life, it will never come back again. If we love our lives, we shouldn’t waste time.We must control time. The best way to use time is to plan it well. One morning a countryman went to his goose's nest, and saw a yellow and glittering egg there. He took the egg home.To his delight, he found that it was an egg of pure gold.Every morning the same thing occurred, and he soon became rich by selling his eggs. The countryman became more and more rich.He wanted to get all the gold at once, so he killed the goose, when he looked inside, he found nothing in its body.A man is driving up a steep, narrow mountain road.A woman is driving down the same road.As they pass each other, the woman leans out of the window and yells “PIG!” The man immediately leans out of his window and replies, “WITCH(女巫)!” They each continue on their way, and as the man rounds the next corner, he crashes into a pig in the middle of the road.If only men would listen. You are standing under the most famous neon lights in the centre of London, waiting to cross the road.Suddenly the traffic stops. You hear the distant sounds of cheering, clapping and shouting. Then like a multi-coloured train, 2,000 people with wheels on their feet go past you.You have just saw the London Skate, a twice weekly roller-skate event that attracts thousands of people.London Skate is a completely free tour of the streets of London--the only condition is that you go along on roller-skates.It lasts between two and three hours and by the end of it you have skated between 10 and 12 miles. In my opinion, the schoolwork now being assigned to students is too heavy. While it is true that students need to study, they need other things as well if they are to grow into healthy and well-rounded adults. They should be allowed more time for play.Playing is not wasting time, as some think. It gives them physical exercise, and also exercise their imagination.Lost time is never found again. This is something which I learned very clearly last semester.I spent so much time fooling around that my grades began to suffer.I finally realized that something had to be done.It was time for a change. Now I have a new plan for using my time wisely.I have set my alarm clock ahead half an hour. This will give me a head start on the day.I have also decided to keep a log of what I do and when I do it.Looking back on what I’ve done will give me some ideas on how to reorganize my time.I was responsible for answering the telephone and taking the message.I worked eight hours a day, six days a week. The work was not difficult nor heavy to me and I guess I did well. The most delighted thing was perhaps that I could spend the money I earned all by myself.Table-tennis is an ideal game us because it brings the whole body into action. One April 1st , a country bus was going along a winding road when it slowed down and stopped。Then the driver turned to the passengers with a worried look on his face and said this poor bus is getting old。It isn't going as well as it used to。there is only one thing to do if we want to go home today。I will count three。I want you all to lean forward suddenly as hard as you can。This should get the bus started again but if it doesn’t’ t,I am afraid there is nothing else I can do。Now,all of you lean back as far as you can in your seats and get ready。

When making the study plan, we should remember two things.First, be realistic.Don’t try to do too many things.Second, a good study plan should be flexible. We may make some small changes on a weekly basis but follow the same pattern.Let’s be the master of time, start out plan now.31 One day when women's dresses were on sale at the Far East Department Store, a dignified middle-aged man decided to get his wife a piece. But he soon found himself being battered by women. Then, with head lowered and arms flailing, he plowed through the crowed.“Can't you act like a gentleman?” “I have been acting like a gentleman for an hour. From now on, I am acting like a lady.”

Mr.Robinson had to travel somewhere on business, and as he was in a hurry, he decided to go by air.He liked sitting beside a window when he was flying, so when he got on to the plane, he looked for a window seat.He found all of them had already had been taken except for one. There was a soldier sitting in the seat beside this one, and Mr.Robinson was surprised that he had not taken the one by the window;but, anyhow, he at once went towards it.33 I have said it a hundred times, we need team work, always seek the best in others. The purpose of this trip , is to train our team in a real situation and to test our new members. Those deserving special praise are the Little Leaf and Four Eyes.Although new to the trade, they try hard, they have not only surpass themselves, but even the old guard here。

When Tom Howard was seventeen years old he was as tall as his father, so he began to borrow Mr.Howard's clothes when he wanted to go out with his friends in the evening.Mr.Howard did not like this, and he always got very angry when he found his son wearing any of his things.

Night after night, she came to tuck me in, even long after my childhood years.Following her longstanding custom, she'd lean down and push my long hair out of the way, then kiss my forehead.I don't remember when it first started annoying me — her hands pushing my hair that way.But it did annoy me, for they felt work-worn and rough against my young skin. Finally, one night, I shouted out at her, “Don't do that anymore —your hands are too rough!” She didn't say anything in reply. But never again did my mother close out my day with that familiar expression of her love.Time after time, with the passing years, my thoughts returned to that night.By then I missed my mother's hands, missed her goodnight kiss on my forehead.Sometimes the incident seemed very close, sometimes far away. But always it lurked, in the back of my mind.Well, the years have passed, and I'm not a little girl anymore.Mom is in her mid-seventies, and those hands I once thought to be so rough are still doing things for me and my family. She's been our doctor, reaching into a medicine cabinet for the remedy to calm a young girl's stomach or soothe the boy's scraped knee. She cooks the best fried chicken in the world...gets stains out of blue jeans like I never could...Now, my own children are grown and gone.Mom no longer has Dad, and on special occasions, I find myself drawn next door to spend the night with her.So it was late on Thanksgiving Eve, as I slept in the bedroom of my youth, a familiar hand hesitantly run across my face to brush the hair from my forehead. Then a kiss, ever so gently, touched my brow.In my memory, for the thousandth time, I recalled the night my young voice complained, “Don't do that anymore — your hands are too rough!” Catching Mom's hand in hand, I blurted out how sorry I was for that night.I thought she'd remember, as I did.But Mom didn't know what I was talking about. She had forgotten — and forgiven — long ago. That night, I fell asleep with a new appreciation for my gentle mother and her caring hands. And the guilt that I had carried around for so long was nowhere to be found 此文章為摘抄

To: Kyle ~ From: Andréa Dear Kyle, You are here and we are together. We have plans, we have dreams, and we have love.Do you really want to leavehow you think, how you feel, what your dreams are and everything nice from you.If I could only do something just to persuade you.I cannot study well, and everything I wish to do was left undone because of this unexplainable emotion.I promised myself before, not to see you anymore or talk to you-just to forget you, but these promises never materialize. My admiration was still bubbling within me these past lonely days.Truthfully, and undoubtedly, I can fool anyone but I cannot fool myself.I would be a great liar if I uttered that I'm not in love with you.No matter what you think or say, all I can say is;I really love you with all my heart and I will not hesitate if you will give me just a little time to prove my feelings of endearment and to prove to you that I'm deserving of your feelings, from your heart. My dearly beloved, you became so honorable in my eyes, like a precious gem, counted with extremely good intellectual reasoning makes me emotionally struck and speechless. The above-stated utterances and delightful contemplation of something worthy is inexpressible on my part because I was made to understand such sublime and noble qualities are inherent with you.< br> I am very serious now in telling you that I can no longer endure such extreme anxiety and sleepless nights that I am experiencing right of this moment.Since I met you I felt I was living in a new and wonderful world, full of love. And the sun is brighter, the pastures became greener and everything I do was magnificent. You should inculcate and instill in your mind that “I cherish you so much”.Such love, like everything, deserves to be given much attention and care in order to grow more and more.Love always, Jayr

There are two types of freelancers. On one hand are those who have been forced into self-employment as service providers, because they’ve lost their jobs and are having a hard time finding another one.On the other hand are those who would be freelancing no matter what: even if the job market were booming, and even if the Internet weren’t around to give so many opportunities to work from home. They would still be hawking their services, working in their pajamas, and being completely happy doing it.The latter are what I call freelancers at heart. They have the freelancing mindset. For them, freelancing is more than about working from home. What Freelancing Is REALLY About

I’ve only been freelancing for two years, not at all as long as many others out there. However, I recognize that true freelancers–those who do so by choice and not by circumstance–have a different way of thinking. In this post, I describe the five characteristics that make up the freelancing mindset.1.Independence Freelancers crave independence… from bosses and employers, from ―the establishment,‖ from structures and hierarchies imposed upon them by somebody else.Sure, we work for clients. In a way, they’re our bosses, because we have to meet their requirements and satisfy their expectations.Unlike bosses, clients can be chosen or rejected. We can sever relationships with a client if things aren’t working out, or if we don’t like how they’re treating us.This isn’t very easy for somebody who’s an employee.Quitting your job is not something an employee can do lightly, unless you have a lot of money stashed in the bank, or a job offer waiting in the background.Freelancers are willing to self-direct, to self-manage, and to be our own bosses–including all the responsibilities this entails.2.Adventure

The freelancing mindset is one that is open to new experiences and challenges, and is always looking for adventure. In contrast, an employee mindset wants predictability and routine.Don’t get me wrong.I’m a stickler for routine, and if I veer away from it, my productivity suffers.Yet in spite of my daily routine, I’m always working on new projects, learning about new things, meeting new clients and prospects, developing new skills, and redesigning my business. For other freelancers, part of the adventure is working in your home office one day and in a coffee shop the next.Or, working while traveling the world. Our lives are like a create-your-own-adventure book.3.Risk

True freelancers are not averse to risk. With our independence comes more responsibility, more accountability for our lives. Not having a fixed income every month, for example, is part of the risk. The risk may scare us, but it doesn’t stop us.It’s also part of the adventure. This uncertainty is more than others can bear.If I were the sole breadwinner of my family, I’m not sure I could put up with this myself.(In fact, the reason I took so long to finally plunge in my dream to be self-employed was because I wanted to make sure that my family wouldn’t go hungry if I failed.)

      4.Creativity

Freelancers tend to be creative people.I say this not just because a lot of us are writers and artists and photographers.Programmers, virtual assistants and other service providers are creative in their everyday lives as well. Our work are forms of self-expression.Our daily lives are a reflection of what we believe in and stand for. We’re creative in the way we handle the daily problems and challenges of freelancing. We don’t rely on others for solutions.5.Idealism

Finally, the freelancing mindset is characterized by idealism. This is what makes some of us stick through the hardships, failures and pitfalls of freelancing. We believe in a ―better world,‖ where one doesn’t have to fit a mold to succeed in life.We believe that fancy titles are meaningless(and if not, we can give ourselves a fancy title anytime we wanted to).We believe in the freelancing lifestyle, and we’re committed to make it work.We believe we can be happy, even prosperous and downright wealthy, doing what we love.In Conclusion

Freelancing is all about the desire for more freedom and all that it entails. This freedom means we’re solely accountable for our own success or failure, for our happiness or misery, for our wealth or poverty. There are no bosses, no backstabbing co-workers, no unfair HR policies to blame.Unless you embrace this, then freelancing will suck.If you don’t believe this in your heart, then you will resent the work it takes to find clients. You’ll hate not having a regular paycheck and paid sick and vacation days. You’ll reject having to work long hours occasionally(am I the only one who worked longer hours while employed?).Some freelancers have a freelancing work arrangement, but they’re employees at heart. They’re the ones who will jump the freelancing ship at the first opportunity of a good job.I’m not saying that’s right or wrong. After all, freelancing isn’t for everyone.【參考譯文】
