名校申請(qǐng)之路--從大二開始規(guī)劃

一、出國(guó)還是不出國(guó)

出國(guó)申請(qǐng)不是一個(gè)小工程，本科畢業(yè)之后的出路可以算得上是人生第一個(gè)重要決寫。所以決定做這件事之前，我們應(yīng)該先弄清楚為什么要出國(guó)，我建議大家可以從以下幾個(gè)角度考慮，評(píng)估下自己要不要出國(guó)：

1、個(gè)人職業(yè)規(guī)劃

A如果你想做科研，那么毫無疑問你需要出去讀一個(gè)PhD。雖然中國(guó)現(xiàn)在也在進(jìn)步，但進(jìn)步的步伐明顯落后于經(jīng)濟(jì)實(shí)力進(jìn)步的速度，如果你是一個(gè)專心搞科研的人，那么PHD是一條最適合的道路。

B如果你想進(jìn)軍工業(yè)界，那么你是想做技術(shù)還是想做管理？如果出國(guó)的話，中國(guó)的孩子大多數(shù)都很難做到一個(gè)大公司的高級(jí)管理崗位，如果你國(guó)內(nèi)的學(xué)校牌子不錯(cuò)，聲譽(yù)不錯(cuò)的話，進(jìn)入一個(gè)企業(yè)從基層做起，最后進(jìn)入管理層的希望要比在國(guó)外大。當(dāng)然，去國(guó)外鍍金然后回國(guó)進(jìn)入工業(yè)界，也是可行的。如果你想做一個(gè)純粹的技術(shù)人員，那么我覺得國(guó)外是一個(gè)好選擇。2.見世面、開眼界

有的人對(duì)出國(guó)不想想這么多，只是想趁著自己年輕出去闖一闖，見識(shí)一下國(guó)外的天空，開闊一下自己的眼界，和其他文化背景的人交流交流。我想這個(gè)理由已經(jīng)足夠充分了。坦率地說，我遇到的很多學(xué)生都是這種想法的人。

二、如果決定出國(guó)，那么應(yīng)該怎么做

1、充分的了解

做一件事情之前，對(duì)基本知識(shí)的掌握是很有必要的。我推薦的參考材料和信息來源如下： 推薦的入門讀物是《北大飛躍手冊(cè)》和《上海交大飛躍手冊(cè)》。這兩本書可以讓你了解出國(guó)的流程是什么，這都是百科全書級(jí)別的著作，抽時(shí)間讀一讀，你的收獲會(huì)很大。推薦的深入級(jí)讀物是《太傻十日談》（絕對(duì)不是王婆賣瓜哈，相信只要是去美國(guó)的同學(xué)，90%以上都是讀過這本經(jīng)典之作吧。）這本書可以讓深入了解什么是申請(qǐng)，申請(qǐng)的本質(zhì)是什么。寄托和太傻恐怕所有想要出國(guó)的人都去過。這兩個(gè)論壇可以說是全國(guó)最大的兩個(gè)留學(xué)論壇了，特點(diǎn)是信息量大，缺點(diǎn)是人多且雜，遴選有效信息較為費(fèi)時(shí)。這兩個(gè)論壇我覺得你一定要去過，尤其是論壇的托福版和GRE版，絕對(duì)體現(xiàn)了勤勞的天朝人民互幫互助的傳統(tǒng)美德，是你備考期間必去的地方。

如果有興趣也可以參與一下國(guó)內(nèi)外的機(jī)構(gòu)做的出國(guó)交流的項(xiàng)目，可以提前去國(guó)外的學(xué)校體驗(yàn)學(xué)習(xí)生活，順便見一下導(dǎo)師和同學(xué)。這類的目前有新東方的冬夏令營(yíng)，還有像GYDO這樣的機(jī)構(gòu)做的一些名校課程為主的短期出國(guó)交流項(xiàng)目。新東方http://liuxue.neworiental.org/ GYDO 004km.cn。最后，請(qǐng)不要忘了自己學(xué)校的BBS。在上面你可以很輕松的找到針對(duì)你自己學(xué)校的信息和經(jīng)驗(yàn)，一定是你飛躍路上的好幫手。

2、時(shí)間安排

任何時(shí)候都不能忘記的東西是GPA和科研，這兩點(diǎn)是你申請(qǐng)中最重要的兩部分。因此我建議你將這兩項(xiàng)貫穿到你的整個(gè)時(shí)間安排之中，永遠(yuǎn)都要抓牢。

如果你現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)決定要出國(guó)，那么我建議你把GRE安排在明年6月。GRE的報(bào)名現(xiàn)在就可以進(jìn)行了，最好把作文安排在明年的2-3月，給筆試留下足夠的時(shí)間。GRE結(jié)束后就可以開始TOEFL的備考了，如果有了GRE的基礎(chǔ)，T的復(fù)習(xí)可以安排在明年期末考試結(jié)束之后，9月初進(jìn)行第一次TOEFL考試，由于T是人機(jī)對(duì)話，不確定因素很多，大部分學(xué)生都需要考兩次，但第二次不要和第一次隔的時(shí)間過長(zhǎng)，可以安排在明年的10月或是11月。這樣你就可以在大三的上半學(xué)期把所有的考試都完成了。如果把英語的考試時(shí)間固定后，我們就可以根據(jù)英語考試時(shí)間來同時(shí)進(jìn)行背景提升了。

3、申請(qǐng)中各項(xiàng)因素的逐一分析

個(gè)人認(rèn)為，如果你沒有特別突出的，足以改變局勢(shì)的亮點(diǎn)，申請(qǐng)中各項(xiàng)的重要性排序應(yīng)該是GPA>Research>套磁>TOEFL>選校>GRE>申請(qǐng)文書。A、GPA

越高越好，任何時(shí)候行動(dòng)都不算晚。之所以把GPA放在第一位，是因?yàn)檫@個(gè)是每一個(gè)本科生想做都可以做得好的。關(guān)于如何得到一個(gè)好的GPA，我就不詳細(xì)說了，少逃課，多自習(xí)，考試前使勁兒突擊，靠著三條足以應(yīng)付國(guó)內(nèi)絕大多數(shù)學(xué)校的絕大多數(shù)課程了。B、Research

科研是申請(qǐng)的決定性因素，也是最能拉開申請(qǐng)者檔次的一項(xiàng)。每年一大把的申請(qǐng)者都和你有著同樣的GPA、G和T，你靠什么脫穎而出？只能靠科研經(jīng)歷。

對(duì)于本科生來說，進(jìn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室的機(jī)會(huì)并不是那么好得到的，所以你應(yīng)該早一點(diǎn)開始規(guī)劃。在進(jìn)實(shí)驗(yàn)室這前最好能先確定自己出去后想讀的專業(yè)，應(yīng)該說專業(yè)確定是我們開始時(shí)面臨的比較棘手的問題，國(guó)內(nèi)外的專業(yè)設(shè)置不大一樣，國(guó)外的方向一般是比較細(xì)的，我們能做的只能是盡可能的去了解，然后判斷。在確定了自己的方向后，就要開始進(jìn)行實(shí)驗(yàn)室和導(dǎo)師的調(diào)查了，和自己想讀的方向是否有一定的相關(guān)性，外國(guó)做的人多不多，老師有無國(guó)際聲譽(yù)，有無海外經(jīng)歷，他發(fā)paper的水平，他對(duì)本科生指導(dǎo)不指導(dǎo)，等等等等。

科研經(jīng)歷最重要，paper對(duì)大多數(shù)申請(qǐng)者來說是補(bǔ)充，因?yàn)閲?guó)內(nèi)絕大多數(shù)本科生發(fā)出來的文章都不夠top。切忌掛名文、灌水文，很容易露餡。自己水平的提高、經(jīng)歷的豐富、對(duì)research的理解體會(huì)才是最重要、最能打動(dòng)人的?，F(xiàn)在我接觸的學(xué)生中有一個(gè)很不好的誤區(qū)，就是動(dòng)輒就談paper，發(fā)幾篇中文核心可以如何如何，發(fā)幾篇EI可以如何如何。其實(shí)，外國(guó)教授分不清咱們中國(guó)人的什么中文核心，什么EI，他們關(guān)心的是你文章的質(zhì)量（他們關(guān)心業(yè)內(nèi)的頂級(jí)期刊，而這些期刊，國(guó)內(nèi)的老師也未必能發(fā)出來，更別說本科生了。）如果你有很好的科研經(jīng)歷，那么發(fā)paper是對(duì)你研究的總結(jié)和“獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)”，切忌本末倒置?？蒲械纳疃缺葘挾戎匾?，即使是寬也要與你申請(qǐng)方向沾邊才好，非申請(qǐng)方向的科研經(jīng)歷基本上會(huì)被無視。我今年帶的一個(gè)學(xué)生，本科期間做過3個(gè)完全不同方向的research，最后老板只關(guān)心他那個(gè)方向的那段經(jīng)歷，剩下的只是起了豐富經(jīng)歷、裝飾簡(jiǎn)歷的作用。本科生得到好科研的機(jī)會(huì)很有限。我這里要強(qiáng)烈推薦“本科生創(chuàng)新實(shí)踐計(jì)劃”這個(gè)教育部開展的東西。國(guó)家出錢，給本科生做科研做項(xiàng)目的機(jī)會(huì)，一定要好好把握。C、競(jìng)賽

國(guó)內(nèi)常見的國(guó)家級(jí)大學(xué)生競(jìng)賽包括數(shù)學(xué)建模，ACM編程大賽，大學(xué)生創(chuàng)業(yè)比賽，挑戰(zhàn)杯和電子設(shè)計(jì)競(jìng)賽這幾樣。如果能在跟你專業(yè)緊密相關(guān)的領(lǐng)域，取得非常優(yōu)秀的競(jìng)賽成績(jī)，會(huì)對(duì)申請(qǐng)幫助很大。但是競(jìng)賽要花很多時(shí)間但是又很難保證優(yōu)秀的結(jié)果，投入大量的時(shí)間搞競(jìng)賽而忽略了專業(yè)學(xué)習(xí)或者科研，得不償失。D、套磁

套磁與research和選校密切相關(guān)。E、TOEFL

托福是必考的考試，對(duì)于申請(qǐng)美國(guó)大學(xué)來說，不建議考雅思，因?yàn)闆]有托福的認(rèn)可程度高，學(xué)校的老師也對(duì)iBT更熟悉一些。備考請(qǐng)以100+為目標(biāo)，口語越高越好，最好要做到>20，23-24是一個(gè)坎，如果考到了24以上，那么恭喜你，你很有希望靠這個(gè)口語砍下TA了。TOEFL的備考期一般在2到3個(gè)月，不建議為準(zhǔn)備托?；ㄟ^多時(shí)間。切忌每次考都覺得自己還沒準(zhǔn)備好，然后考完再去考第二次、第三次，如果你一直不好好準(zhǔn)備的話，考8次和考2次沒有本質(zhì)區(qū)別。復(fù)習(xí)技巧我在這里就不多說了，如果以后有可能的話，我會(huì)專門寫一篇文章來介紹。F、GRE

相對(duì)于GRE的重要性來說，很多人動(dòng)輒全脫產(chǎn)一年復(fù)習(xí)實(shí)在是反應(yīng)過度了，這可能和新東方對(duì)GT的神話有很大關(guān)系。如果你有一個(gè)差不多的分?jǐn)?shù)，就不要花超多時(shí)間去刷分了，但是不要以為GRE就完全不重要，很多學(xué)校在第一輪篩學(xué)生的時(shí)候，往往是用這些硬件成績(jī)來劃線的，所以GRE不能低到連第一輪都過不去。

備考請(qǐng)以1300+4.0為目標(biāo)，考過這個(gè)分，就完全夠用了。對(duì)于理工科學(xué)生，AW不重要，只有極少數(shù)學(xué)?？ˋW，哪怕有的學(xué)校明確在網(wǎng)頁上寫了要求X.X，也不會(huì)太嚴(yán)格的執(zhí)行。備考GRE最忌諱的是恍恍惚惚混混噩噩。我見過太多天天拿著紅寶書背的孩子，據(jù)他（們）說都背了10+遍了，那書爛的都快散架了。但是考好幾遍GRE分?jǐn)?shù)都不理想，那我只能說，你把時(shí)間浪費(fèi)掉了。

三、總結(jié)

看到這里，我想你對(duì)申請(qǐng)已經(jīng)有了一個(gè)較為全面的認(rèn)識(shí)了吧。對(duì)自己有信心，加油去拼搏，最后都會(huì)有一個(gè)滿意的結(jié)果的。有一句我很喜歡的話送給所有準(zhǔn)備申請(qǐng)的同學(xué)們--寶劍鋒從磨礪出，梅花香自苦寒來。

我們每個(gè)人在兒時(shí)，都曾擁有過偉大的夢(mèng)想。只是不知道在成長(zhǎng)歲月中的什么時(shí)候，被改掉了，被偷走了，或是因?yàn)槲覀兘o予的滋養(yǎng)不足，夢(mèng)想的種子仍深深地埋在土里，難以發(fā)芽。

I am a student from Kunming Science and Technology University, my name is Grant and my major is marketing.During the four years from 2003 to 2007, I had been studying theories about marketing diligently and I have worked in two different companies after I graduated.Since I am considering furthering develop myself and to enlarge my horizon, I would like to apply for the Master of Science in International Project Development hold by Rouen Business School.I have been considering about applying for this program for a long time and I think the reason that I want to apply for this program could be described from five aspects.In the first place, I think it is a fantastic chance for me to experience a brand new life, which is different from life in China.Different countries would have different customs and different culture.It is good for me to be a good human being and then a successful human being.As far as I am concerned, it is necessary to experience as much as possible to have enough life experience to be a good human being.In the second place, as a successful human being it is very essential to have high professional self-cultivation.Therefore, I expect to seize the opportunity to join the program to improve my professional self-cultivation so as to better adjust myself to the fiercer competition in our society.In the third place, not everybody in China could have a good chance to study and work abroad to enlarge their horizon.It is a good opportunity to live a different life while studying abroad, which helps me to see more, learn more and feel more.When I become an old man, I would be able to tell my children that maybe I am not a great man, but I have lived a full life.In the fourth place, joining the program could offer me many chances to meet people, which could help to expand the range of social activities.During this process, I could be honored to meet more excellent people.There is an old saying in China that it is always valuable to learn from others.As a consequent, I could learn more things from those excellent people.In my opinion an excellent person could be a great book.Last but not least, I expect to learn more advanced theories about marketing and management from the program.Besides, it would also count to me to accumulate more real experience to make better preparations for my future career.Please take your time over these questions, and give your answer.1.How do you expect to benefit from the program that you are applying for? It is known that experience does count for an employee to find a satisfying job.In order to achieve more valuable experience in marketing and management, I have made up my mind to apply for this program.On the one hand, I expect to learn more things about my life since I think nobody could be a successful employee or employer unless he is a qualified human being.On the other hand, I think it is a good opportunity for me to learn more advanced theories about both marketing and management.Besides, since there are many excellent teachers and classmates, I consider it is a great chance to learn from them.I hope to become an excellent person and to accumulate more experience about both my life and my career.2.How do you see your career progressing?

As a matter of fact, I have been working in China for four years.And during these four years I have decided that my future career could be starting a business by myself or working in a multinational company.No matter which one I choose at last, the first step would be arming me with enough advanced theories and rich experience.The beauty of life lies in its uncertainty.But it is necessary to make preparation for this uncertainty.And I consider it is a good opportunity for me to join the program to make a good start for my career.My aim is to be good student and learner at the very first, and then a great practitioner and creator.3.Describe your major strengths and weaknesses

As a young man, I know there is still much for me to learn.I confess that it is quite urgent for me to learn more things about those advanced theories within my major.Besides, although I have learnt some theories, yet it makes me confused to apply them into practice.However, I am a good learner.I have learnt a sentence that the most valuable people in this world are not those who know everything, but those who are able to learn everything.And thank goodness, I am a good learner with firm perseverance and creativity.4.Do you adapt well to new and challenging situations?

I have grown up from a common family in China and my growing process has helped me to form good habit of being independent to choose.When my classmates were wondering how to spend their four years in university, I was joining different clubs and enjoying my life in school.When I worked in Beiersdorf Hair Care, it took me one month to have a full understanding of the whole work theories and practice and I became a leader there in two months.There are different kinds of challenges in both life and work, yet I have confidence in myself that with diligence and intelligence I can cope well with them.5.Do you consider yourself to be “international in outlook”？

As far as I am concerned, it is necessary to have a full understanding of the domestic market to be “international in outlook”.Since I have been working for four years and I have read lots of news about China’s market, I have at least a good understanding of the domestic situation.Besides, I have worked in Beiersdorf Hair Care, which is a foreign company in China.The working and studying experience there gave me a good opportunity to see things with an international outlook, which I appreciated very much.However, it still takes time and diligence to be really “international in outlook”, which I hope to become by joining the program.6.What are your personal interests?

Although my major in university was marketing, yet I have a strong love for art.What’s more, I have a wide range of hobbies in my spare time.I love painting, which I think is a nice way to talk to my inner world and Mother Nature.My major has offered me opportunities to become a successful employee or employer, yet it is my personal interests that help me to enjoy life more.When I am free, I would like to listen to music and travel to different places.As far as I am concerned, music and travelling can both help me to get out of fatigue and weariness of work.7.Additional information to support your application(for example your test scores).I have got 6.5 for IELTS and the scores for my curriculums in university were over 80.I had joined different clubs in university and I had won several prizes in competitions all over China.I am a simple person and I would try my best for my goals no matter how hard it could be.My favorite sentence is that “There is only one success--to be able to spend your life in your own way”.I think it is true and I am willing to try every little possibility.
