1.on the nose(時間的)整點(diǎn);完全

A: What time is it, honey?

A: 甜心！現(xiàn)在幾點(diǎn)啦？

B: It's six pm on the nose。

B: 晚上六點(diǎn)整。

“on the nose” 除了當(dāng)時間整點(diǎn)外，還有“完全”(= exactly)的意思。好比你的心事被一個朋友看透了。你就可以對他說：“Your guess was right on the nose.”(你的猜測完全正確。)

2.on the spot 讓(某人)在壓力下作決定;當(dāng)場

A: So, what do you say, Hubert? Should we stay or leave?

A: 那么...Hubert, 你說我們該待在這里，還是走掉呢？

B: Hey!Don't put me on the spot.How should I know?

B: 嘿！別讓我一個人作決定呀！我哪知道?。?/p>

想象這樣的情形： 一群人在等遲遲還不出現(xiàn)的李四，正當(dāng)大家正在煩惱到底要不要再等下去時，忽然有一個人問你“我們該繼續(xù)等還是走了呢？”。這時眾人的眼光聚集在你的身上，一定讓你讓你覺得壓力很大。這種類似被揪出來成為焦點(diǎn)的感覺，就是這里的“be put on the spot”。

“on the spot” 的另一個用法是“當(dāng)場”的意思。好比你送車進(jìn)廠檢修，修車廠的人找到問題后，馬上當(dāng)場幫你把車修好，就算“They fixed your car on the spot.”

小時候?qū)W琴的時候，老師常常要提醒我要把雙手抬高(使手與琴鍵平行)。當(dāng)然她當(dāng)時不是跟我說 “Way to go.” 啦！(我哪會知道她在說什么東西哩？)不過當(dāng)小朋友在學(xué)一件新的東西時，常常鼓勵他們是很好的事！“Way to go.” 是“That's the way to go.” 的縮寫，是用來告訴一個人他作得很好，請繼續(xù)保持。有一點(diǎn)像中文里的“加油！”的意味。是一個常常在一些競賽活動(球賽、賽車等)中都可以聽到的俚語哦！

4.armpit 臟而令人不舒服的地方

A: Oh, man.This room is an absolute armpit!When's the last time you cleaned this place?

A: 唉呀！老兄！這個房間真是臟得不象話。你上回打掃房間(子)是什么時候哇？

B: The last time my mom was here。

B: 上次我媽來的時候。

“armpit” 其實是“腋窩”的意思。可能對美國人來說，這個地方是“汗水”、“污垢”聚集的地方，所以在俚語里，“armpit” 就被用來形容“臟的令人不舒服的地方”吧。聽說歐洲的女孩子是不刮腋毛的，不過在美國，女孩子不刮腋毛卻是件很沒禮貌的事的。

5.buns 屁屁

A: Hey!What are you doing staring at that girl's buns?

A: 嘿！你眼睛瞪著那個女孩子的屁股看干什么？

B: I'm not.I just like the skirt she's wearing。

B: 我沒有呀！我只是喜歡她穿的那件裙子。

“bun” 本來是“圓形面包”的意思，不過二個“圓形面包”(buns)一起是否跟屁屁看起來有點(diǎn)像呢？(嘿嘿嘿...。不要理我的三八！)。

還有一個很有意思，也是由“bun”的形狀衍生而來的俚語是“have a bun in the oven”。這個俚語按字面上看來好象是“有個面包在烤箱里”，不過它真正的意思是指“懷孕”。所以當(dāng)要表示“Sally 正在懷孕中”，我們就可以說“Sally is having a bun in the oven.”。這個應(yīng)該在形狀上和意義上都蠻貼切的喔！

6.pissed(off)非常生氣

A: Are you angry at Nancy because she kept your video too long?

A: 你生氣 Nancy 是因為她太久才還你錄像帶嗎？

B: No.I lent her my favorite tape and she recorded over it.That really pissed me off。

B: 不是。我借給她我最喜歡的帶子，結(jié)果她在上面錄東西。那倒真的讓我很生氣。

“pissed off” 是“很生氣”的意思，在程度上要比 “angry” 強(qiáng)烈?！癐'm so pissed off at you.”, 就是“我對你很生氣”的意思。

“piss” 其實是“尿尿”的意思(= pee)。從這里也可以看出來這不是個很高雅的詞語，即使很多人都用，而且包括女生。但嚴(yán)格地說，如果是在需要 “watch your language”(小心你說的話)的地方，你還是不要用的好。

7.kick back 輕松休息

A: I'm really beat.I wish I could be kicking back at the beach right now。

A: 我好累..。要是現(xiàn)在可以在海灘放輕松休息休息多好。

B: Me, too。

B: 我也是！

忙了一個禮拜，周末到了，終于可以暫時什么都不想，躺在沙發(fā)上，喝杯咖啡、看看自己喜歡的書，或是聽聽音樂、看看電視等，像這樣“放輕松”就是這里說的“kick back and relax”。還有一個詞組叫 “l(fā)ay back”, 它的意思也是“放輕松”的意思。

8.okay 不錯的

A: How do you like your new roommate?

A: 你喜歡你的新室友嗎？

B: He is an okay person.I like him。

B: 我喜歡他。他這個人不錯。

“okay”、“all-right” 和 “decent” 都是指“不錯的”的意思。通常用來形容人的時候，有暗指和對方并不算熟識，但大致上說來，對方還算是個蠻不錯的人。

“okay” 還有一個用法是指一個東西的品質(zhì)還可以(在可接受的范圍內(nèi)), 但不算非常非常好(excellent)。好比常常我們可能會因為預(yù)算的關(guān)系，買了一個也許不是我們最想要的物品，但總算是自己覺得還可以的。這時如果朋友問我們：“你買了什么樣的電視啊？”(比方), 我們就可以在回答他們品牌后，再補(bǔ)一句：“Well, it's not exactly my dream TV., but it's a decent one.”(嗯，雖然不算是我夢想中的電視，不過也不錯啦！)。要注意的是，上面這個用法是用在形容“事物”的時候，用“decent”來形容“人”時，并沒有

暗示對方不是最好的意思喔！

9.shake a leg 趕快

A: All the furniture in the store is on sale today?

A: 店里所有的家俱全都減價賣出嗎？

B: Yeah.The whole place is packed.You'd better shake a leg before it's all

gone。

B: 是呀！整個地方(店)都擠滿人了。你最好在它們賣光前趕快去。

“shake a leg” 并不是“抖腿”的意思，雖然大部份因為緊張或會習(xí)慣性抖腿的人的確是只抖一只腿。用“shake(shaking)one's legs” 來表示抖腿倒是可以的。

總之，“shake a leg” 是“趕快”(hurry)的意思。

不只是“人”的滿可以用“packed”來形容，停車場里滿滿是車也可以用。好象你開進(jìn)停車場里，發(fā)現(xiàn)放眼望去一個停車位都沒有，你就可以說“Oh, man.The whole parking lot

is packed.”。

10.pull one's leg 開玩笑

A: Did Richard really go to Italy this summer?

A: Richard 這個夏天真的去了意大利了嗎？

B: No way.He was only pulling your leg and you believed him?

B: 哪有可能？ 他只是跟你開玩笑的，你還當(dāng)真?。?/p>

這也是一個跟“腿”有關(guān)的詞語。也許“pulling one's leg” 看起來很容易令人聯(lián)想到中文里的“扯后腿”，不過它卻是“開玩笑”的意思。

不知道為什么，“pulling one's leg” 和“扯后腿”的意思對美國人是完全無法聯(lián)想在一起的。他們倒是會用“trip one up”(把某人絆倒的意思)來形容像“扯后腿”這樣的作

法。

11.booboo 錯誤

A: How did you do on the exam?

A: 考試考得怎么樣？

B: Oh, you won't believe it.I got all the questions right at first, and then I decided to go back and make some changes.Guess what? I ended up getting five booboos.I'm kicking myself for that。

to have a crush on(someone)； to feel an instant magnetism；

to catch one's eyes； to hit it off；to have the hots for(someone)；

to be attracted to each other.這些片語，都是描寫男女間互相傾慕，兩情相悅，有吸引力或一見鍾情。

例如：* He(she)has a crush on her(him)(他對她十分愛慕)。

* He felt an instant magnetism when their eyes met.（他們見面時，他立即感到磁性般的吸?。?。意指女的外表吸引;如果是 she felt …… 那么就是指男的外表吸引。

* A nice-looking girl caught his eye.（漂亮的妞兒吸?。Ｗ⒁猓翰挥胑yes。

* He was introduced to a pretty woman and they seem to hit it off immediately.（他被介紹給一位漂亮女子後，他們似乎就一見鍾情）?；?/p>

* They were attracted to each other the moment their eyes met.* When he met her, he had the hots for her.（當(dāng)他見到她，他就對她愛慕不已。）(多半指 sexual attraction。)

例如說，女對男的沒有興趣，那么也可以說：

* She did not feel any attraction toward him.（她對他毫無興趣);或* He is the man for whom she feels no attraction, catch or no catch.（不管他的條件好或壞，她對他就是沒有興趣）。這里的 catch，可指財富、地位、名望和外表。

這些都是指男人英俊瀟灑，作風(fēng)奔放，野性旺盛，喜歡在「女人窩」里。例如：

* Mr.Lin has been considered a prince on a white horse.（林先生被認(rèn)為是白馬王子。）這是中古時代女子對男人的夢中理想

現(xiàn)在也有老外認(rèn)為美男子應(yīng)該是：全身盔甲燦爛光輝的王子。

* He is a prince in a shining armour.（動詞時態(tài)：shine, shone 或shined。）

* Many people think that Mr.Clinton is a real lady?s man.（或 a real womanizer）(許多人認(rèn)為柯林頓先生喜歡在女人窩里。）

*As a casanova, he has many girl friends.（由於他是美男子，他有許多女友。）

（Casanova 是意大利人，據(jù)說是頂尖的美男子，他的全名是：Casanova deseingalt Giovanni Giacomo 在此 casanova 被當(dāng)做普通名詞，故 c不必大寫。

如果形容男人外表魅惑力大，能使女人「如饑似渴」般崇拜他，也可以說：

* He has melted her down and made her knees buckle.（他把她溶化了，使她拜倒他的西裝褲下）。這句話老外通常不用在男人身上，也許因為男子應(yīng)該比較堅強(qiáng)些吧！

倘若說：…… like flies to the garbage指像一群蒼蠅喜歡垃圾那樣，當(dāng)然就不是恭維了。to be a beauty queen;to be a dream boat;to be a cutie;to be a babe;

to be a fox.這些都是形容女人漂亮，曲線玲瓏，身材曼妙，揮身性感或散發(fā)一種性感的野性。例如：* She is a beauty queen.（= very beautiful）

* She is a cutie.（= pretty and attractive）（漂亮迷人）

* She is a dream boat.（= ideal type of woman）（理想女人）

* She is a babe.（= very beautiful and attractive）

* She is a fox.（= She is a foxy lady = She is sexy.）（她很性感）。

注意：如果說： She is as sneaky（或 cunning）as a fox.又是指她像狐貍一樣的狡猾。

假如女人能使男人拜倒她的石榴裙下或神魂顛倒那么就能說：

* Her beauty（attraction）has caused his knees to shake.（或 to quiver）（她的漂亮迷人使他膝部發(fā)抖）?；? She made him feel up there in the clouds.（= on clouds nine = on the top of the world）（她使他神魂顛倒，飄飄然如仙。）

其實，所謂「情人眼里出西施」（Beauty is in the eyes of beholder），世上的美或丑，只是主觀的看法而已。

to fall in love with（someone）；to fall head over heels in love;to love（someone）from head to toe.都是指男歡女愛，沉溺情海，或是愛得暈頭轉(zhuǎn)向。

例如：* They have fallen in love with each other for years.（他們相愛多年）。

（動詞時態(tài)：fall, fell, fallen）

* He fell head over heels in love with her.（= He fell for her head over heels = He is head over-heels in love withher.）（他與她沉溺情海，愛得暈頭轉(zhuǎn)向。）多半指很快落入情海。

* He loves her from head to toe.（他從頭到腳地愛她）。多指經(jīng)過較長時間後才熱戀, 或* He falls madly in love with her.至於男女熱戀時「目中無人」或「形影不離」，也可以說:

* They are two peas in a pod.（他們像豆莢里的兩粒豆子--即形影不離。）

* They only have eyes for each other（and forget the entire world.）（世界上似乎只有他們兩個人。）如何學(xué)說一口地道的美式口語
