My feeling after reading The Last Leaf

Abstract:When a poor paintress Johnsy fell seriously ill,she seemed to lose the will to hang on to life with the thought “When the last leaf on the ivy vine falls I must go,too.”O(jiān)n the chilly stormy night that the last leaf fell,the old painter Behrman sacrificed his life to paint a green ivy leaf onto the brick wall.I have been deeply affected by the greatness and fraternity of Behrman since I read the Chinese version of The Last Leaf and I also appreciate the profound friendship between the two young paintress Sue and Johnsy.Old Behrman was looked down upon as a failure in art.For forty years he had been always about to paint a masterpiece,but had never yet begun it.He was past sixty,earned a little by serving as a model,drank gin to excess,and still talked of his coming masterpiece.Nevertheless,it was such a pitiful creature who saved Johnsy’s life with his masterpiece which did not appear until the death approached.In my point of view,he was a success in morality for his fraternity.Much to my sorrow,he died of pneumonia while Johnsy was recovering.I just can’t imagine how he held on to the last stroke of the painting suffering the great pain on such a terrible night.The last leaf painted by Behrman not only told us to help and love others,but also to be hopeful about life when misfortune comes.And I also learned from it that“A friend in need is a friend indeed.”We should cherish this kind of sincere friendship and friends around us like Sue and Behrman.

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.After reading The Last Leaf, I was deeply moved.I suddenly thought of the movie-Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, so I chosed this topic.The novel tells us: Suffering from pneumonia, Johnsy chose the Ivy leaves out of window as her own spiritual support，however, at the same time, she was disappointed because she learned that the Ivy leaves was falling and would some day die out, without any leaf hanging on the tree.She thought that if the last one fell, she would also go with the leaf.Behrman, an old painter who also suffered from pneumonia, lived in the neighborhood.One day he happened to know of Johnsy’s situation, and the doctor said that there was 20% chance to survive if she had belief to live.So Behrman had made up his mind to help her keep enthusiasm with her own life.Finally, he come up with a really good idea.Only the leaves fall on that night, he head wind and heavy rain to draw the last piece of the precious leaves.……

Finally Mr.Behrman died of pneumonia.And he left his Work—The Last Leaf.It was originally not a leaf, but also not a painting.it can be far beyond the leaves and the meaning of art.It symbolizes the courage and hope.Throughout the novel, the author describes Behrman not many and he use the side of contrast.But I can still imagine that the special night, he dragged his paint to show his exceptional artistic talent to help Johnsy.At the last minute in his life, he devoted his life he had to help somebody he didn’t know.I think that although The Last Leaf was just a short story, but it likes a mirror which shows the Behrman’s kind-hearted soul, and reflect the great light of devoting his life to help others.He has a spotless mind.

The Last Leaf gave me deep impressions.In my opinion, life is not as easy as we think.There is happiness, sadness, difficulties, harvest and so on.Wherever you are, whatever you do, don’t lose confidence and belief.We are lucky, after all we are still alive;We are happy, because we are still healthy.This is my feeling of reading The Last Leaf

Let’s discuss with each other.Recently, I read a thoughtful story------The Last Leaf.I was moved deeply by the behavior of Mr.Behame.The young couple Johnsy and Sue lived happily together.Unfortunately, Johnsy encountered the Pneumonia in a cold night in November.One afternoon, she was desperately looking out of the window and was counting the leaves on the ivy tree.She firmly convinced that she would leave the world after the last leaf fell.She hadn't any passion for the future life!Sue asked the help of the Mr.Behrman.This old poor artist was a failure in art.He has been always eager to paint a masterpiece.He wanted to help this frustrated girl who was giving up her life after hearing of the last leaf story from Sue.He painted the last vivid and lovely leaf throughout a dreadful night.Finally, this masterpiece has been completed, and Johnsy kindled the life fire again.However, Mr.Behame died of the Pneumonia.The story ended here, but, the sincere friendship would never stop forever!It is

penetrating in every sentence of this essay, and it is also hovering in the reader's heart!Let us respect this best art-man!
