“It hardly matters whether you like the Secretary or not,” she said.“He was chosen because the President thought he was the man for the job.If he does the job well, you should have nothing to say against it.”

“That's just it,” said Smith, not easy to give up.“No one does the things he does, unless he is a full fool!”

“Sir,” said the woman in a proud voice.“Do you know who I am?”

“No,” replied Smith.“I am the Secretary's wife,” she said coldly.Mr.Smith was greatly surprised, but he went on, in spite of his obvious error:“My dear lady, do you know who I am?”

“No, I don't ,” the woman replied.“Thank God!”Mr.Smith cried out, and quickly left the table.That 's all.Thank you.Good morning / afternoon, ladies and gentlemen,(boys and girls).I am glad to be here.My name is XXX, I’m from GZ.In the past 4 years, I have been working for trading companies and we communicate with others in English every day, so English is very import in my daily work.I believe that this is a good opportunity for me to improve my English, and I will make a great progress through my efforts.Today, I will show you a funny story which called “ stone soup”.Many years ago, the weather was once very bad for a whole year.People had very little food.So they always hid their food when strangers came.One day a man came to the village with a very big pot.He put the pot on the ground, and people quickly came up to him.“We don’t have any food, we are also hungry.Please go away, maybe you can find food in the next village.” One villager said to the stranger.“Don’t worry.I have everything I need.I was just thinking of making some stone soup to share with all of you”, the stranger said.So he got some water in the pot and made a fire under it.Then he dropped two stones into the water.After some time, he tasted the stone soup and said loudly: “Ah, it’s very tasty.Of course, stone soup with beans.That would taste better.” Soon a villager ran back home and returned with some beans and added it to the pot.“Thanks very much,” said the stranger, “You know, once I had stone soup with a little meat in it, and it tasted great.”

Soon the village butcher managed to find some meat and gave it to the stranger.“Ah, it’s very good,” cried the stranger, “Now I’m sure it tastes much better.Mmm, yummy!I remember the soup I had in the past was very colourful.If we could have some different coloured vegetables, it would look nicer and it was fit for a king and queen.”

Many villagers went back home and they brought back different coloured vegetables and gave them all to the stranger.Here are some carrots and tomatoes!

Here are some onions and a chicken!” said the villagers one by one.The stranger put all the vegetables in the pot together with the eggs and the chicken.And he asked all the villagers to take a bowl and taste the stone soup.“Wow, it’s great!” “Ah, yummy!” “Yes, it’s excellent!” the villagers talked.After the stranger was gone, all the villagers wondered why he could make such wonderful soup.Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, girls and boys.My name is XXX, I’m from level 6.I am working for a trading company, and English is very important in my daily work, so I xxxxxx.Now, I would like to share a success story of Frank Hawkins.Frank Hawkins was the head of a very large business company before he retired.But as a boy he used to repair bicycles in a small shop, and at that time he used to work fourteen hours a day.He saved money for years and in 1958 he bought a small workshop of his own.In his twenties, Frank used to make spare parts for aeroplanes while he had two helpers.In a few years the small workshop had become a large factory which employed hundreds of people.When Frank remembered his hard early years and the long road to success, he smiled and, smiled.

This wonderful college has been your home for some time now.I believe many of you will regret leaving here enormously.I had dinner with Faculty members last night and I know how highly regarded your class is.Many comments were made about one of the best classes in years.You are a credit to yourselves and your families.Some of you have achieved everything you wanted to and more.Some of you are just a little short of expectations but I fully believe you are very, very successful.I do hope you are proud of yourself.Certainly I know your teachers are!
