GMO is to modify, to fix, to splice, to recombine the genes for new organisms or much adoptable species.The technology of GMO is mainly applied in food supplies, such as vegetables, crops and animals, and medical care.The positive side of GMO is evident.In the agriculture field, GMO foods can increase crop production, food quality and the diversity of species, for instance, more drought-resistant plants.And in the medical field, it could produce special elements, as some proteins, and even organs to treat some certain diseases.However, the negative side of GMO is uncertain.It may do harm to some insects and human body.It may also affect the growth of the surrounding plants and animals, and even may cause biological pollution and destroy the local ecosystem.By the end of 2013, the GMO plantation areas were expanded to 170 million hectares in the world and there are about 4 million hectares in China.And whether GMO is safe, there is no certain evidence.The maturity and benefits of genetic technology can never be justifiable for its wide application.So in my part, we can never be too careful in the spreading of GMO.

Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen, my name is Zhang Botao, I am from Shaanxi University of Science & Technology.When I stand here to deliver my speech, I’m a little worried about my cell phone and also yours.I’m afraid that one of them may suddenly ring loudly so that my fascinating speech will probably be interrupted by SIMENS, NOKIA, MOTOROLA or pANDA.And this is just one possible result caused by economic globalization.No matter if you admit it or not, we are now all in a global village and economic globalization is here to stay.Nowadays, economic globalization is being referred to more and more.I don’t know who first invented the word, but undoubtedly, it is steadily and inexorably becoming more and more common and important.It covers our world so quickly, just like influenza.As Charles Darwin noted: Survival of the fittest.In order to adapt to this great and global reform, I think, there must be something important and urgent we need to do, for every nation, every corporation, and even to every person.First, take me for an example.Just ten years ago, I did not know what a computer was, let alone what it can do.But since 2001, I cannot live without my computer, just like I can’t live without my cell phone!Of course, these great changes are derived from economic globalization, and the rapid development of China.For every Chinese man like me, these rapid changes mean great challenge: Because of economic globalization, many new technologies rushed into China without translation;Because of economic globalization, many unknown software appeared on our desks;And, because of the economic globalization, we must hasten our rhythm of living, working and even resting.The speed of the development of China has been tremendously accelerated, so if we don’t want to be elapsed from this great tidal wave of development, we must understand the meaning of this phrase very clearly: One is never too old to learn.Second, to an enterprise in China, it also means a problem concerning survival.Our entrance to WTO has paved the way for many super universal corporations to enter the economic market of China.This means the competition in our domestic market will be much more brutal than ever before.If our state enterprises and other companies don’t adjust to this global reform and get used to the more and more cruel competition, surely they will be elapsed in this blood-red economic battle.If you want your company to stand up at last, I think the most important thing for you to do is that, “Firm your confidence and welcome the great coming challenge.”

Third, as globalization is gradually knitting separate national economies into a single one, if one nation would like to stand up and develop during these global changes, it must effectively carry out some economical and political reforms.For example, reducing the tax to attract more international organizations to invest in our country, or do some political reforms, to cater for some important international organizations.Maintaining an average 8% economic increase rate per year needs not only effective and promising economic policy, but also the prudent leadership.Economic globalization brings us not only a great challenge, but also a great chance to develop.It brings us a great potential of international corporations and makes them take roots and develop in China.And this will create new job opportunities for our huge labor market.If we can strengthen ourselves and take the chance, I promise, China’s development will be hastened greatly, and China will become the leader of economic globalization of the world!

華電賽區(qū)報(bào)名通知

各院系、全體2011級(jí)研究生：

由北京市高等教育學(xué)會(huì)研究生英語教學(xué)分會(huì)主辦的北京市研究生英語演講比賽將于2011年12月3日進(jìn)行復(fù)賽，12月10日進(jìn)行決賽。

為選拔推薦優(yōu)秀研究生參加北京市研究生英語演講比賽，并借此機(jī)會(huì)進(jìn)一步探索我校研究生英語教學(xué)模式，提高研究生英語演講和交流能力，研究生院、黨委研工部和外國語學(xué)院將于10月至11月期間聯(lián)合組織華電賽區(qū)的英語演講比賽。

本屆比賽活動(dòng)將以各英語口語班為單位，通過專題課程、小組討論、觀摩學(xué)習(xí)、班班對(duì)抗賽等環(huán)節(jié)，選拔推薦選手參加華電賽區(qū)決賽，旨在實(shí)現(xiàn)比賽與教學(xué)相結(jié)合、優(yōu)秀選拔與全面提高相結(jié)合?，F(xiàn)將有關(guān)事項(xiàng)通知如下：

四、日程安排1、10月13日、20日，進(jìn)行第四課 transport 和第六課 environment 的口語教學(xué)課程，旨在引導(dǎo)學(xué)生對(duì)環(huán)境、安全、發(fā)展方面的興趣，積累口語素材，糾正同學(xué)的語音語調(diào)，規(guī)范語言表達(dá)方式，為下一步口語活動(dòng)打好基礎(chǔ)。

2、10月27日，11月3日，各口語班以班為單位根據(jù)演講主題開展小組討論活動(dòng)，搜集資料、整理和撰寫講稿、觀摩演講比賽視頻，每班推出6名突出的同學(xué)參加班班對(duì)抗賽。班班對(duì)抗賽的參賽名單另行公布。

3、11月10日，舉行班班對(duì)抗賽，兩個(gè)班12名選手參加對(duì)抗演講，其他同學(xué)助陣。通過比賽選拔出2名選手參加學(xué)校的演講比賽決賽，口語班共選出28位選手，高級(jí)英語班由老師推薦2名選手，一共30位選手參加11月17日的決賽。

4、11月17日，舉行全校研究生英語演講比賽決賽(具體比賽安排另行通知)。每位參賽選手準(zhǔn)備三分鐘的演講，當(dāng)場回答評(píng)委的2個(gè)問題。通過比賽最終選出2名優(yōu)勝者參加北京市研究生英語演講比賽。

5、外國語學(xué)院將根據(jù)英語免修同學(xué)報(bào)名參加比賽情況，把報(bào)名參賽的英語免修同學(xué)分配到各個(gè)口語班，參加10月27日和11月3日的口語活動(dòng)，與口語班的同學(xué)同臺(tái)競爭。

五、獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)設(shè)置

1、本次比賽華電賽區(qū)將評(píng)出校級(jí)一等獎(jiǎng)2名，二等獎(jiǎng)4名，三等獎(jiǎng)8名，優(yōu)秀獎(jiǎng)若干。我校將推薦兩名獲獎(jiǎng)選手參加北京市研究生英語演講比賽復(fù)賽。

海南大學(xué)研究生PPT英語演講比賽圓滿

舉行

2014年11月2日上午8:30，海南大學(xué)研究生PPT演講比賽在海甸思源學(xué)堂舉行。本次比賽由海南大學(xué)研究生處研究生工作部主辦，外國語學(xué)院承辦，出席本場比賽的嘉賓有，海南大學(xué)副校長刁曉平，海南大學(xué)研究生處處長張銀東，海南大學(xué)研究生處研究生工作部部長崔昌華，海南大學(xué)研究生處副處長蔣國洲，海南大學(xué)研究生處老師何佳、倪永紅、于花蓮、李遠(yuǎn)頌，外國語學(xué)院常務(wù)副院長金瑩。擔(dān)任本次比賽的評(píng)委主要來自外國語學(xué)院各系主任及教授、副教授。

開場在即，滿懷希冀

比賽開始前，海南大學(xué)研究生副處長蔣國洲致詞，他對(duì)本次比賽提出了幾點(diǎn)希望，他希望通過本次活動(dòng)，研究生能在原基礎(chǔ)上進(jìn)一步提升自己，希望教學(xué)改革能重新喚起同學(xué)們對(duì)學(xué)習(xí)英語的熱情。隨后，他宣布比賽正式開始。本次比賽分為PPT展示與回答問題兩個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)，要求選手們語言流暢，合理安排時(shí)間。

妙語連珠，魅力比拼

每位參賽選手都希望通過此次比賽展現(xiàn)自己的英語口語表達(dá)能力和各具特色的人格魅力。比賽過程中，選手們或幽默詼諧，或沉熟穩(wěn)重，或激情昂揚(yáng)。一段段文辭優(yōu)美的敘述與自己對(duì)大學(xué)生活的獨(dú)特理解，無不引起觀眾的強(qiáng)烈共鳴，現(xiàn)場掌聲不斷。其中，十三組的于倩同學(xué)表達(dá)準(zhǔn)確，語言地道，獲得評(píng)委于觀眾的一致稱贊，但是由于對(duì)時(shí)間的把握不足，最終屈居于專業(yè)組第二名。而十三組的成員內(nèi)容新穎，表達(dá)流程，并有良好的小組合作，最后以94.6的高分榮獲冠軍。

誨人點(diǎn)評(píng)，鼓勵(lì)學(xué)子

賽后外國語學(xué)院金瑩常務(wù)副院長及曾傳生教授與對(duì)選手們的表現(xiàn)進(jìn)行點(diǎn)評(píng)。金院長認(rèn)為，此次比賽不僅要有良好的語言基礎(chǔ)，更重要的是體現(xiàn)合作精神，而小組合作的欠缺通常是一些小組比賽失利的重要原因。她希望選手們?cè)诮窈蟮谋荣愔心芨玫拿鞔_目標(biāo)，把握全局，并鼓勵(lì)選手們積極表現(xiàn)個(gè)性，展示才能，相互學(xué)習(xí)。曾教授認(rèn)為，選手們表現(xiàn)都非常出色，展現(xiàn)了對(duì)話題的理解與良好的語言素質(zhì)。最后，曾傳生教授祝愿大家在學(xué)習(xí)中不斷提升英語表達(dá)技能，在學(xué)習(xí)英語的道路上繼續(xù)努力，擁有更高的學(xué)習(xí)追求，能為祖國更好的服務(wù)。

通過本次PPT大賽，不僅鍛煉了選手們的演講能力，提高了多媒體展示水平，加深了對(duì)大學(xué)的認(rèn)識(shí)，同時(shí)也讓同學(xué)們的知識(shí)水平得到了提升，老師們也從中得到了教學(xué)啟發(fā)。為海南大學(xué)英語學(xué)習(xí)與教學(xué)翻開了新的篇章。在此，我們?cè)俅巫ＹR獲獎(jiǎng)選手！
