The International Expositions' Bureau with a membership of 157 countries feel very pleased that the World Expo, 2010 will be hosted by Shanghai, China, a country with largest population, longest history and deepest cultural depositions, which is embracing the tremendous and unparalleled urban reform.國(guó)際展覽局代表其157個(gè)成員國(guó)，對(duì)以城市為主題的2010年世博會(huì)在上海舉辦，在中國(guó)這個(gè)世界人口最多、歷史最悠久、文化底蘊(yùn)最深厚，同時(shí)正在經(jīng)歷巨大和史無(wú)前例的城市革命的國(guó)家舉辦，感到無(wú)比高興。

The International Expositions' Bureau has witnessed the dynamism of the World Expos through the grand scale, a variety of innovations, all kinds of imitative of the current one, and the themes, for example Shanghai themed city, Milan themed Feeding the Planet, Energy of Life, Yeosu

Choosing the theme of “better city, better life”, with the majority of our planet’s population living in city today, we see the urban population will increase to 3 billion in the decades to come, which claims us to improve the quality of life for citizens, not only of course in developing countries, but also in developed countries, for both are too often suffering from pollution, poverty, social segregation and insecurity.I hope this World Expo of Shanghai will contribute all of us to aware social awakening, so that our cities will become more sustainable, fairer, safer, and more harmonious.I wish the World Expo 2010, Shanghai, China a complete success.本次主題“城市，讓生活更美好”的選擇，表明今后全球大部分人口將遷入城市。未來(lái)幾十年中，城市人口將增加近30億，這將促使我們提升發(fā)展中國(guó)家和發(fā)達(dá)國(guó)家城市居民的生活條件，他們都同樣面對(duì)污染、貧窮、社會(huì)差距和不安全等問(wèn)題的困擾。這次世博會(huì)將促使人們提高認(rèn)識(shí)，努力建設(shè)更持久、更公正、更安全、更和諧的城市。

Ladies and Gentlemen, On behalf of the Bureau International des Expositions, it is my great pleasure to be here amongst you all today on this occasion for several reasons.First and foremost, this Summit Forum, which concludes a whole series of forums which you have held, reminds us of the importance of the theme of the Shanghai World Expo, the theme of a better city for a better life.A World Expo such as this one that we have experienced over the last six months is a grand celebration, but the future of World Expos is also instilled in a reflection on the themes concerning the great challenges to which our planet is confronted with today.The theme of the Shanghai World Expo is particularly relevant at a time when the majority of our planet’s population is living in cities and while a large migration of the world’s rural population is moving into the cities, in particular within developing countries.女士們，先生們，我很高興能代表國(guó)際展覽局，與在座各位一起參加今天全天的活動(dòng)，原因有幾點(diǎn)。首先，本次論壇是對(duì)前期舉辦的一系列論壇的總結(jié)，再次喚起我們每個(gè)人對(duì)上海世博會(huì)“城市，讓生活更美好”這一主題的重視。我們?cè)谶^(guò)去六個(gè)月中所經(jīng)歷的世博會(huì)是一場(chǎng)歡慶的盛會(huì)，而世博會(huì)的未來(lái)也體現(xiàn)在其主題涉及到當(dāng)今世界所面臨的各項(xiàng)重大挑戰(zhàn)。當(dāng)前，全球大部分人口生活在城市，大量農(nóng)村居民還在不斷向城市遷移，因此上海世博會(huì)的主題特別具有現(xiàn)實(shí)意義。

Secondly, the Shanghai Declaration which crowns your thoughts is a positive element as it reminds once again the consequences of a savage urbanisation;insecurity, pollution, heavy traffic, isolation of peoples, poverty sitting right next to richness, all these must be tackled head on.These challenges can find solutions: the Shanghai Declaration reminds us that technological advances contribute by delivering remedies.But nothing can progress without the political will of us all.Finally, my third and last message is that this declaration will only be worth the attention and follow-up that we all give to it.Too many declarations in the past have remained just words on a piece of paper, and many fixed objectives have failed due to the difficulties of implementation.其次，凝聚著大家思想精華的《上海宣言》是一項(xiàng)積極的成果，它再次提醒我們注意粗放式城市化帶來(lái)的各種后果，包括不安全感、氣候污染、交通堵塞、人際疏遠(yuǎn)、貧富分化等等，所有這些都需要我們直面應(yīng)對(duì)。這些挑戰(zhàn)是可以戰(zhàn)勝的，《上海宣言》告訴我們，科技進(jìn)步能幫助我們找到補(bǔ)救的方法。但要取得進(jìn)步，需要我們每一個(gè)人都拿出政治意愿。我想談的第三點(diǎn)也是最后一點(diǎn)是，只有重視《上海宣言》并持續(xù)跟進(jìn)，才能確保實(shí)現(xiàn)其價(jià)值。過(guò)去達(dá)成的太多宣言最終都成了一紙空文，許多既定目標(biāo)也由于在執(zhí)行過(guò)程中困難重重而無(wú)法實(shí)現(xiàn)。

This year’s observance of World No Tobacco Day focuses on “Gender and tobacco, with an emphasis on marketing to women”.今年世界無(wú)煙日活動(dòng)的主題是“兩性與煙草——關(guān)注針對(duì)女性的促銷行為”。

Although fewer than 1 out of 10 women are smokers, that still adds up to an estimated 200 million women around the world.Moreover, that number could grow, since the tobacco industry is spending heavily on advertisements that target women and associate tobacco use with beauty and liberation.雖然只有不到十分之一的女性吸煙，但這仍使全世界女煙民人數(shù)近達(dá)兩億。而且，由于煙草企業(yè)花巨資制作針對(duì)女性的廣告，將煙草與美麗和婦女解放掛鉤，這一數(shù)字還有可能增長(zhǎng)。

According to a recent study by the World Health Organization(WHO), the number of girls and boys who smoked was about equal in half the 151 countries surveyed.This finding is even more worrisome since young people who smoke are likely to continue in adulthood.世界衛(wèi)生組織近期對(duì)151個(gè)國(guó)家的調(diào)查顯示，有一半國(guó)家，男孩和女孩的吸煙人數(shù)不相上下。由于青少年在成年后很可能繼續(xù)吸煙，這一結(jié)果越發(fā)令人擔(dān)憂。

Evidence indicates that the prevalence rate of tobacco use among women is on the rise in some countries.Governments everywhere must take action to protect women from tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship, as stipulated in the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control.有證據(jù)表明，一些國(guó)家婦女煙草使用率在上升。各國(guó)政府必須采取行動(dòng)，根據(jù)《世界衛(wèi)生組織煙草控制框架公約》的規(guī)定，保護(hù)婦女遠(yuǎn)離煙草廣告、促銷和贊助活動(dòng)。
