摘要:隨著全球經(jīng)濟(jì)一體化進(jìn)程的不斷推進(jìn),國(guó)際商務(wù)活動(dòng)不斷日益頻繁,經(jīng)濟(jì)貿(mào)易合作的領(lǐng)域不斷擴(kuò)大,商務(wù)函電作為信息的使者,感情的紐帶和和友誼的橋梁,貫穿這各個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)從建立業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系到達(dá)成交易,從執(zhí)行合同及執(zhí)行合同過(guò)程中的糾紛等,大都需要通過(guò)函電解決。特別是在產(chǎn)生貿(mào)易糾紛時(shí),它又可能左右糾紛解決的后果。一封得體、規(guī)范的外貿(mào)函電,既能與外商建立和保持良好的業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系,又避免了因糾紛而產(chǎn)生的不愉快。本文從文體、語(yǔ)言、翻譯、詞類(lèi)轉(zhuǎn)換、增減詞等方面,對(duì)商務(wù)函電的特點(diǎn)和用詞技巧作了初步探討。

1.1文體特點(diǎn)
商務(wù)函電是一種在商務(wù)環(huán)境下,利用函電與具有不同文化背景的客戶(hù)進(jìn)行交流的跨文化行為。是一種公文性質(zhì)的信函,其主要內(nèi)容涉及公事,交流目的主要在于磋商公務(wù),因此每一封商務(wù)公函都必須注重表達(dá)準(zhǔn)確,規(guī)范,樸素,并且要求主題突出,中心明確。在文體上嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)規(guī)范,莊重典雅自成一路的風(fēng)格特征;在用詞方面,商務(wù)函電大多使用正式詞匯,并力求用詞簡(jiǎn)潔樸素,準(zhǔn)確具體;在用語(yǔ)方面,強(qiáng)調(diào)句子嚴(yán)謹(jǐn),完整,委婉禮貌,注重語(yǔ)氣的恰當(dāng)性,并充分考慮對(duì)方的感受。
1.2語(yǔ)言特點(diǎn)
商務(wù)函電其中的三個(gè)原則“準(zhǔn)確、簡(jiǎn)潔、清楚”都是對(duì)語(yǔ)言方面的要求,“體貼、禮貌”則是針對(duì)態(tài)度和角度方面的要求?!巴暾笔菍?duì)格式的要求,而“具體”則是對(duì)整封函電內(nèi)容的整體要求,是要求避免大而無(wú)當(dāng)?shù)脑~句,內(nèi)容不能偏離要表達(dá)的中心。商務(wù)函電不僅涉及獨(dú)特的專(zhuān)業(yè)背景,而且涉及實(shí)際商務(wù)工作技能,其語(yǔ)言特點(diǎn)可以歸納為兩條:商務(wù)函電涉及面涵蓋了貿(mào)易、金融、外匯、海關(guān)、商檢等諸多領(lǐng)域,顯示出多種行業(yè)特色,因此,語(yǔ)言的選擇性很強(qiáng);商務(wù)人員的思維模式具體、審慎,講究語(yǔ)言表達(dá)的分寸。具體體現(xiàn)在表達(dá)直截了當(dāng)、簡(jiǎn)潔明快、淡于修飾。用詞規(guī)范、語(yǔ)法結(jié)構(gòu)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)、句子排列一般固定有序、語(yǔ)篇連貫、邏輯性強(qiáng)。1.3翻譯特點(diǎn)
商務(wù)函電翻譯比較偏重于“實(shí)用效果”,其主要功能是準(zhǔn)確傳遞經(jīng)濟(jì)信息,而不是為了取得美學(xué)效應(yīng)和欣賞效果;因而,譯者需要懂得、熟悉專(zhuān)業(yè)的行話、術(shù)語(yǔ),翻譯時(shí)意義忠實(shí)且術(shù)語(yǔ)精確.譯文的語(yǔ)氣要禮貌、誠(chéng)懇、使用書(shū)面語(yǔ)言,做到簡(jiǎn)潔規(guī)范。使用地道的商業(yè)用語(yǔ),體現(xiàn)商業(yè)風(fēng)格避免使用產(chǎn)生歧義的語(yǔ)言,力求具體長(zhǎng)句翻譯要理清脈絡(luò),力求條理清晰,并且要達(dá)到“7C原則”即Clearness(清楚),Courtesy(禮貌), Conciseness(簡(jiǎn)潔), Correctness(正確), Concreteness(具體), Completeness(完整), Consideration(考慮周到)。

2.1用詞技巧
商務(wù)函電翻譯的用詞技巧具體表現(xiàn)在以下幾個(gè)方面。
2.1.1詞類(lèi)轉(zhuǎn)換
動(dòng)詞轉(zhuǎn)換成名詞
由于英漢表達(dá)方式不同,其中有部分動(dòng)詞,如aim at, target, impress….在英譯漢時(shí),雖然有相對(duì)應(yīng)漢語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞直譯,但如果轉(zhuǎn)譯顯得更通順。
例如:The company report targets early from selling at US$2000 by 2007.公司的報(bào)告中推出了一個(gè)目標(biāo),到2007可要達(dá)到2000美元。
名詞轉(zhuǎn)換成形容詞
例如:We are prepared to make quantity order for this article.我們準(zhǔn)備訂購(gòu)大量的這種貨物。
名詞轉(zhuǎn)換成副詞
例如:There is no doubt that we will still charge you old prices on all orders received here up to and in charge July 31.名詞轉(zhuǎn)換成動(dòng)詞
例如:Considering the small amount of goods shipped we agreed to make an exception by accepting the payment by D/P.鑒于貨運(yùn)量很少,我們同意破例接受付款交單。
介詞轉(zhuǎn)換成動(dòng)詞
例如:Your request for a further bargain of the price is really beyond my authority.無(wú)權(quán)決定
2.1.2增詞
增補(bǔ)范疇詞
增詞的范疇有:方法,情況,現(xiàn)象,狀態(tài),方面,問(wèn)題,范圍…….例如:The export is not permitted exceed its limitation.出口物資不得超出限制范圍。
增加解釋性詞
有時(shí)候詞匯含義在原句中非常明確,但直譯過(guò)來(lái)可能會(huì)產(chǎn)生誤解或無(wú)法理解時(shí),會(huì)增加解釋性詞語(yǔ)。
例如:It is more expensive than it was lost time but not as good.貴公司的產(chǎn)品價(jià)格比上次的高,但質(zhì)量卻不如上次的好。
還有某些品牌,如Volkswagen(大眾)
增加需要重復(fù)的詞
增加需要重復(fù)的詞意思更清楚
例如: Even if you want us to take your goods ,we cannot put them on the market without some considerable discount.若要我方接受貴方的貨,沒(méi)有相當(dāng)大的折扣它無(wú)法將這批貨投放到市場(chǎng)去。2.1.3減詞
減譯冠詞
一般特指要譯。
例如:[1]Unless the order is executed within three weeks ,we shall have to cancel it.除非這種訂單能于三周之內(nèi)執(zhí)行,不然我們就取消它。
無(wú)意義不要譯。
例如:[2]It is a pleasure to offer you the goods as follows.很高興給您供貨。
減譯代詞
其中的代詞,特別是所有格代詞,又是只在句中起語(yǔ)法作用,并非強(qiáng)調(diào)自身含義,不譯。
例如:We assure you of our reciprocating your courtesy at any time.貴公司的好意,我方保證隨時(shí)回報(bào)。
在英語(yǔ)中,第一人稱(chēng)主格代詞,特別是We 在翻譯是可酌情減譯。
例如:We will advise you of the date, we are at your services at all times.我們謹(jǐn)遵你的時(shí)間,隨時(shí)待命。
減譯動(dòng)詞
有些謂語(yǔ)動(dòng)詞表意不少,或無(wú)表意作用的。
例如:The packing charges of this machine cost 5000 Yuan.這臺(tái)機(jī)器大約5000塊錢(qián)。
減譯其他詞
英語(yǔ)與漢語(yǔ)在表達(dá)相同概念時(shí),采用方法有所不同,英語(yǔ)表達(dá)繁,漢語(yǔ)表達(dá)簡(jiǎn)。
例如:We expect that you will give us a definite reply at your earliest convenience.我們期待您盡早給我們一個(gè)確切的答復(fù)。
2.1.4詞語(yǔ)的反譯
例如:Our factory is now unprovided with the equipment necessary for the manufacturer of the product.(否定反譯肯定)
我們工廠現(xiàn)在缺乏制造這些產(chǎn)品的必要設(shè)備。
2.1.5詞語(yǔ)順序的調(diào)整
詞序的調(diào)整主要是狀語(yǔ)和定語(yǔ).在商務(wù)函電翻譯中,主要是注意屬性關(guān)系上的詞序,即單詞或短語(yǔ)作定語(yǔ)或狀語(yǔ)的位置問(wèn)題。
狀語(yǔ)的位置
英語(yǔ)中,狀語(yǔ)一般放在動(dòng)詞之后。形容詞,副詞短語(yǔ)做狀語(yǔ)修飾動(dòng)詞時(shí)既可以位于動(dòng)詞之前也可以位于之后,但是,漢語(yǔ)中一般狀語(yǔ)在前,動(dòng)詞在后。例如:If you have some documentary evidence, we would like you to send it urgently.如果貴方有證明文件的話,本公司希望貴方能立刻寄來(lái)。
英語(yǔ)中通常方式狀語(yǔ)放在地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)之前,地點(diǎn)狀語(yǔ)放在時(shí)間狀語(yǔ)之前或兩個(gè)同時(shí)出現(xiàn)時(shí),小單位在前,大單位在后,漢語(yǔ)則相反。
例如:The prices of all our products will be raised by 10% from April 1st.定語(yǔ)的位置
英語(yǔ)中定語(yǔ)與漢語(yǔ)明顯不同,漢語(yǔ)中定語(yǔ)只能前置,而英語(yǔ)中既可以前置又可以后置,尤其是短語(yǔ)作定語(yǔ)是,一般被置于修飾詞之后。
例如:[1] How much cash is tied up in accounts received how long.(Received后置)
本公司保留要求貴公司賠償損失的權(quán)利。(不定式短語(yǔ)后置)
如被修飾詞既有前置形容詞又有后置形容詞共同修飾,漢譯時(shí),后置形容詞應(yīng)移到被修飾詞之前,而前置形容詞漢譯時(shí)譯文中的那位置則根據(jù)漢語(yǔ)的順序來(lái)譯。
例如:In reply to your Email of may 16,we regret to inform you that we do not have in stock any items enquired for by you.貴方5月16的電子郵件收悉,但很抱歉,貴方所詢(xún)的所有商品均告無(wú)貨。2.2正式商務(wù)函電翻譯用詞
2.2.1專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯
外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函中對(duì)專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯的翻譯務(wù)必精確、符合經(jīng)貿(mào)專(zhuān)業(yè)要求。外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)中的價(jià)格術(shù)語(yǔ)意義固定:有的是單獨(dú)的詞,inquiry(詢(xún)盤(pán))和offer(報(bào)盤(pán));有的是則是由幾個(gè)詞構(gòu)成,例如:to draw on somebody(向某方開(kāi)出匯票)。這些專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯的翻譯稍微有差錯(cuò)就會(huì)造成負(fù)面的影響甚至巨大的損失,如曾有則報(bào)道說(shuō),某譯者錯(cuò)將“不銹鋼”譯為“炭素鋼”,這兩字之差就給企業(yè)造成近20萬(wàn)元損失。值得注意的是,有些外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯與其本意大相徑庭。Document本意為“文件”,而在外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)中則為“單據(jù)”,如An L/C normally specifies the documents that are required by the buyer and the date by which the goods in question must be shipped。(信用證上,通常規(guī)定了買(mǎi)方所需的單據(jù),以及有關(guān)貨物的運(yùn)貨日期。)2.2.2.歧義詞
英語(yǔ)中常常會(huì)出現(xiàn)一個(gè)詞匯有多重意義,而這幾個(gè)意義恰好又是對(duì)立的。因此在外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函的書(shū)寫(xiě)或翻譯中,應(yīng)避免使用歧義詞。面對(duì)這類(lèi)詞匯應(yīng)及時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn),并立刻和對(duì)方取得聯(lián)系,以便及時(shí)糾正,以免使締約雙方發(fā)生分歧,為日后貿(mào)易帶來(lái)后患。如in a week 可指在within a week(一周內(nèi)),又可以指after a week(在一周后),這就必須要與對(duì)方商榷,及時(shí)換上表義明確的詞。2.2.3.英美詞匯差異
外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函的翻譯還應(yīng)注意英美詞義的差異:在英式英語(yǔ)和美式英語(yǔ)中,同一個(gè)詞可能有不同的含義。在這方面的典型例子即是單位的差異,如billion在美式英語(yǔ)中意思為“十億”,而在英式英語(yǔ)中,則代表“萬(wàn)億”。因此,在翻譯中一定要注意英式英語(yǔ)和美式英語(yǔ)使用場(chǎng)合。
2.2.4.套用格式化語(yǔ)言或句型對(duì)應(yīng)翻譯法
以簽署文件、合同等為目的的外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函,多套用已有格式。在翻譯的時(shí)候,應(yīng)用相應(yīng)的中文格式,用程式化語(yǔ)言翻譯即可。它的特點(diǎn)主要表現(xiàn)在一些套用、固定搭配及句式結(jié)構(gòu)的應(yīng)用中。譯者可相應(yīng)地采取“套用句型對(duì)應(yīng)方法”來(lái)翻譯。在此類(lèi)商業(yè)信函中,對(duì)方一般也會(huì)采取正規(guī)書(shū)面語(yǔ),風(fēng)格繁冗。尤其是為了增加嚴(yán)肅、正式的意味,他們常常會(huì)選用帶法律、語(yǔ)言保守傾向的古體詞。常見(jiàn)的有以”here;there;where”為詞根的詞,如:herein;hereof;herewith;hereby;thereby;以詞匯手段予以補(bǔ)償,用相對(duì)比較古雅的詞匯將原文的文體風(fēng)格反映出來(lái)即可。2.2.5.整體格式差異
整體格式差異主要體現(xiàn)在英文與中文信函中。眾所周知,英文日期常寫(xiě)于右上方,而中文日期常寫(xiě)于右下方。英文稱(chēng)呼使用復(fù)數(shù)Sirs/Gentlemen ,而在中文中,則體現(xiàn)為統(tǒng)稱(chēng)形式的整體單數(shù)。雖然,按照國(guó)際貿(mào)易慣例,外貿(mào)函電英譯漢時(shí),可保留英文外貿(mào)函電的格式,也可套用中文外貿(mào)函電的格式。但是,根據(jù)慣例,建議使用中文格式,以取得整體美感。
2.3用于達(dá)成友誼,交流感情的商務(wù)信函的翻譯用詞
除用于正式交易的外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函外,為達(dá)成貿(mào)易雙方的友誼,商家會(huì)特別注意禮貌,因此會(huì)大量寫(xiě)作交流情感類(lèi)信函。對(duì)這一類(lèi)信函,譯者翻譯的時(shí)候,應(yīng)注意選取適合的詞,使用翻譯具有“信、雅、達(dá)”的美感。并且提醒注意的一點(diǎn)是,商人畢竟是商人,他首先考慮的是商品、質(zhì)量及相關(guān)問(wèn)題與條件,而非客套語(yǔ)人稱(chēng),英譯漢時(shí),應(yīng)突出重點(diǎn)信息,精簡(jiǎn)繁枝冗葉,以達(dá)到強(qiáng)化重點(diǎn)的目的。針對(duì)外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)信函所帶有的書(shū)面語(yǔ)體的語(yǔ)言結(jié)構(gòu)特點(diǎn),譯者在翻譯時(shí),應(yīng)該選擇相應(yīng)的書(shū)面語(yǔ)。在中文外貿(mào)信函中,使用的是介于文言文與口語(yǔ)之間的半文言文體與之相對(duì)應(yīng)。例如:Sincerely yours漢譯為“謹(jǐn)上”即可。而針對(duì)港臺(tái)地區(qū)
保留大量古語(yǔ)的特點(diǎn),譯者在翻譯時(shí),還應(yīng)該把開(kāi)頭的“先生”之類(lèi)詞婉譯為“敬啟者”。在傳統(tǒng)英語(yǔ)貿(mào)易辭令中,大量套語(yǔ),更應(yīng)該恰當(dāng)增減。例如:We are pleased 如We are looking forward with interest to your reply.等句式,這里若直譯為“我們帶著極大的興趣盼望您的答復(fù)?!憋@然,這種翻譯拖沓而且生硬,只要稍微套用一下格式,采取婉譯方式,譯為“盼復(fù)”,則簡(jiǎn)潔明了。類(lèi)似的情況還有:Your prompt 婉譯為“即復(fù)為謝”)
商務(wù)函電的重要性在我國(guó)的外貿(mào)活動(dòng)中顯得越來(lái)越重要。好的商務(wù)英語(yǔ)函電翻譯可以促進(jìn)我國(guó)的外貿(mào)。翻譯工作者應(yīng)該在翻譯和學(xué)習(xí)的過(guò)程中不斷積累各種專(zhuān)業(yè)詞匯和縮略語(yǔ),掌握各種翻譯技巧,針對(duì)各種具體情況采用不同的翻譯方法,力求準(zhǔn)確,且符合貿(mào)易雙方的語(yǔ)言習(xí)慣,社會(huì)文化習(xí)俗。
3結(jié)論
綜上所述,外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)的這些特點(diǎn)要求是由外貿(mào)英語(yǔ)的語(yǔ)境和交際功能所決定的。這些特點(diǎn)的客觀性要求人們?cè)谑褂猛赓Q(mào)英語(yǔ)時(shí)必須遵循其語(yǔ)言表達(dá),重視外貿(mào)語(yǔ)言的表達(dá)作用。在書(shū)寫(xiě)英文函電或進(jìn)行英漢翻譯時(shí),要注意體現(xiàn)這些規(guī)律,特點(diǎn),注意中英文翻譯表達(dá)的差異,力求做到遣詞運(yùn)字得體,語(yǔ)氣句調(diào)相仿,正確傳達(dá)信息,為商務(wù)活動(dòng)架好語(yǔ)言橋梁。
