上海世博會是第一次在發(fā)展中國家舉辦的注冊類世博會。這是中國的機(jī)遇，也是世界的機(jī)遇。上海世博會將向世界展示一個擁有５０００多年文明歷史、正在改革開放中快速發(fā)展變化的中國，搭起中國學(xué)習(xí)借鑒國外先進(jìn)經(jīng)驗(yàn)、同世界交流合作的橋梁。上海世博會更屬于世界，未來６個月，世界各國各地區(qū)將以世博會為平臺，圍繞“城市，讓生活更美好”的主題，充分展示城市文明成果、交流城市發(fā)展經(jīng)驗(yàn)、傳播先進(jìn)城市理念，相互學(xué)習(xí)、取長補(bǔ)短，為新世紀(jì)人類的居住、生活、工作探索嶄新的模式。我相信，上海世博會將書寫中國人民同各國人民交流互鑒的新篇章，也將書寫人類各種文明交流互鑒的新篇章。

女士們、先生們、朋友們！

８年來，中國政府和人民懷著高度熱忱，舉全國之力，集世界智慧，全力籌辦上海世博會?，F(xiàn)在，上海世博會即將呈現(xiàn)在我們面前。我相信，在有關(guān)各方共同努力下，世界各國人民一定能夠共享一屆成功、精彩、難忘的盛會。我也相信，只要我們繼承并不斷創(chuàng)新世博會給我們帶來的寶貴文明成果和精神財(cái)富，我們生活的城市一定會更加美麗，我們共同擁有的地球家園一定會更加美好，我們的未來一定會更加光明。

中國人民正在滿懷信心地推進(jìn)改革開放和社會主義現(xiàn)代化建設(shè)。我們既要不斷創(chuàng)造１３億中國人民的美好生活，又要為人類和平與發(fā)展的崇高事業(yè)作出新的更大的貢獻(xiàn)。中國將高舉和平、發(fā)展、合作旗幟，始終不渝走和平發(fā)展道路，始終不渝奉行互利共贏的開放戰(zhàn)略，堅(jiān)持在和平共處五項(xiàng)原則的基礎(chǔ)上同所有國家發(fā)展友好合作，同各國人民一道推動建設(shè)持久和平、共同繁榮的和諧世界。
