2009年12月20日，澳門回歸祖國十周年的大喜日子，人民大會堂浙江廳內(nèi)舉行的“愛國僑領(lǐng)陳沙立資助貧困地區(qū)22所華僑小學(xué)捐贈儀式”顯得暖意融融。

來自新疆、西藏、廣西、寧夏、貴州、河南、內(nèi)蒙古等16省區(qū)22所貧困小學(xué)接受了中華思源工程扶貧基金會陳沙立慈善基金的捐贈。全國人大副委員長、民建中央主席、中華思源工程扶貧基金會理事長陳昌智，全國人大副秘書長、民建中央副主席張少琴，全國人大代表、民建中央社會服務(wù)部部長包瑞玲，全國政協(xié)委員、民建中央常委、中華思源工程扶貧基金會秘書長李曉林，陳沙立慈善基金管委會主任、翡翠（北京）國際能源投資有限公司總經(jīng)理王軍等領(lǐng)導(dǎo)出席了捐贈儀式。

愛國僑領(lǐng)陳沙立先生，祖籍廣東，出生在泰國，屬第三代華裔?，F(xiàn)任加拿大翡翠國際工業(yè)集團(tuán)總裁、加拿大國際聯(lián)合商會主席、環(huán)球華商協(xié)會首任主席。自上世紀(jì)80年代初開始，陳沙立先生積極投身到祖國的經(jīng)濟(jì)建設(shè)中來，在大陸投資興建了機(jī)場、港口、碼頭等大量基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施，為祖國的經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展和國際交流做出了卓越貢獻(xiàn)，受到了鄧小平、江澤民、胡錦濤等三代領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人的充分肯定和高度評價。今年7月，他親率加拿大翡翠國際工業(yè)集團(tuán)高管赴新疆考察，并與新疆自治區(qū)政府簽訂了煤化工項目戰(zhàn)略合作協(xié)議，投資總額高達(dá)300多億元人民幣。

目前已累計為大陸捐款捐物11.3億元人民幣。僅2005年至今，他已捐款4000萬元人民幣，資助了64所貧困地區(qū)華僑小學(xué)。到明年底，由他出資捐助的華僑小學(xué)將達(dá)到100所。陳沙立先生表示，思源工程·陳沙立慈善基金將秉承基金會的扶貧宗旨，報效祖國、回饋社會、奉獻(xiàn)愛心、造福人民，在教育、醫(yī)療、敬老等領(lǐng)域繼續(xù)努力，踐行胡錦濤總書記的號召，扶貧濟(jì)困，為國分憂，為構(gòu)建和諧社會做出更新更大的貢獻(xiàn)。
