美國(guó)私立寄宿高中申請(qǐng)的面試環(huán)節(jié)

中國(guó)申請(qǐng)學(xué)生數(shù)量的劇增，使美國(guó)私立寄宿高中的申請(qǐng)?jiān)谥袊?guó)學(xué)生中的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)異常激烈。多數(shù)優(yōu)質(zhì)的美國(guó)私立高中每年級(jí)在中國(guó)招收2-3人。據(jù)陪同學(xué)生參加校園面試的家長(zhǎng)反饋，其參加面試的熱門(mén)學(xué)校的招生官告知目前已接到上千份的來(lái)自中國(guó)的申請(qǐng)。為了增加自身的競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力，很多學(xué)生花費(fèi)大量時(shí)間備戰(zhàn)SSAT及TOEFL考試，在自己的申請(qǐng)材料上大費(fèi)周章，達(dá)到別出心裁的效果。然而很多家長(zhǎng)卻忽略了面試這一環(huán)節(jié)。在此，筆者根據(jù)多年美國(guó)私立寄宿高中的申請(qǐng)經(jīng)驗(yàn)，與各位學(xué)生及家長(zhǎng)分享一下我對(duì)面試的認(rèn)識(shí)：面試的作用、方法及技巧。

一般來(lái)說(shuō)，在美國(guó)私立寄宿中學(xué)申請(qǐng)中校方都會(huì)要求學(xué)生參加各種形式的面試，如校園面試、電話(huà)面試、視頻面試、校友面試、教育展中的面試等。舉例來(lái)說(shuō)可能會(huì)更清楚一些。如Millbrook School學(xué)校為了測(cè)評(píng)學(xué)生的英文水平，一般會(huì)要求學(xué)生親自到學(xué)校進(jìn)行面試；The Pennington School學(xué)校則不要求學(xué)生進(jìn)行面試，只根據(jù)學(xué)生的申請(qǐng)材料進(jìn)行綜合測(cè)評(píng)；George School要求國(guó)際學(xué)生提供個(gè)人視頻介紹。2009年Blair, Hill，Berkshire,等學(xué)校招生主任參加了在北京或香港舉辦的TABS（The Association of Boarding Schools）教育展，對(duì)有意向的申請(qǐng)學(xué)生進(jìn)行了面試。今年TABS教育展也將于10月底在北京、上海，11月初在香港舉行，請(qǐng)目前正在申請(qǐng)美國(guó)私立寄宿高中的學(xué)生提前準(zhǔn)備。華聯(lián)教育也會(huì)關(guān)注此類(lèi)信息并及時(shí)發(fā)布。

面試的作用：學(xué)校通過(guò)面試環(huán)節(jié)了解學(xué)生基本信息，畢竟通過(guò)雙方互動(dòng)溝通能夠更直觀(guān)的判斷學(xué)生的興趣及潛質(zhì)所在。另一方面這種溝通也是判斷學(xué)生英文水平的方式，學(xué)生在面試中表現(xiàn)的英文水平甚至?xí)Q定學(xué)生在入學(xué)后是否應(yīng)該就讀ESL課程。就學(xué)生而言，無(wú)一例外地希望自己能給面試官留下一個(gè)好印象，使自己能在眾多申請(qǐng)者中脫穎而出。如果學(xué)生本人英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)能力不錯(cuò)，不妨主動(dòng)爭(zhēng)取向?qū)W校展示一下，主動(dòng)要求面試，最好是視頻面試。

面試的準(zhǔn)備：對(duì)于學(xué)生而言，校方所要了解這個(gè)學(xué)生無(wú)非通過(guò)幾個(gè)方面的問(wèn)題，關(guān)系到學(xué)生自己的個(gè)性及愛(ài)好、學(xué)生的家庭情況、學(xué)生就讀的學(xué)校。如果家長(zhǎng)可以說(shuō)英語(yǔ)的話(huà)，筆者建議家長(zhǎng)也主動(dòng)和面試官進(jìn)行對(duì)話(huà)交流，以家長(zhǎng)的角度向面試官多方面闡述一下孩子的情況，也會(huì)為學(xué)生的申請(qǐng)?jiān)錾簧?。所以在面試前，學(xué)生一定要先練習(xí)好自己的口語(yǔ)，運(yùn)用好語(yǔ)言作為交流工具的作用。其次要知己知彼，詳細(xì)了解你申請(qǐng)的學(xué)校背景及優(yōu)勢(shì)，找到你與學(xué)校的契合點(diǎn)，也就是說(shuō)全面分析一下你的優(yōu)勢(shì)，圍繞以上闡述的三個(gè)方面提前進(jìn)行準(zhǔn)備，也建議學(xué)生能在面試時(shí)準(zhǔn)備好一些資料，如個(gè)人的簡(jiǎn)歷，個(gè)人照片，成績(jī)單等。

面試技巧：第一，注意言行的禮貌。著裝整潔大方，主動(dòng)打招呼。第二，積極主動(dòng)提供對(duì)自己有利的信息。此時(shí)你的謙遜內(nèi)斂也許會(huì)讓你的優(yōu)點(diǎn)埋沒(méi)，所以在面試中要主動(dòng)介紹并顯現(xiàn)自己的才能與潛力。如一位學(xué)生在電話(huà)面試中應(yīng)學(xué)校老師的要求悠揚(yáng)地唱起了英文歌；

一位女孩與招生官交流時(shí)當(dāng)場(chǎng)發(fā)揮了自己素描的功底，現(xiàn)場(chǎng)為招生官作畫(huà)。第三，很多學(xué)生在面試時(shí)覺(jué)得非常緊張，一板一眼，這也不符合西方人的交流習(xí)慣與方式。所以在給學(xué)生做面試前的輔導(dǎo)時(shí)，筆者常常告訴學(xué)生“你不要把它當(dāng)成一次嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)正規(guī)的面試，其實(shí)只是一種交流與溝通”。所以在這種交流與溝通過(guò)注意彼此的互動(dòng)。而不是有規(guī)格的一問(wèn)一答的形式，也無(wú)所謂什么標(biāo)準(zhǔn)答案。
