Do you know if anything good is playing at the cinema right now?
I really want to find a good Italian restaurant;any suggestions?
I saw an advertisement on TV last night for that new show, Prison Break.Have you seen it?
比如你問,“Do you know any good Italian restaurants?”(你知道什么吃意大利菜的好地方嗎?)對(duì)方卻回答,“No, sorry—I don't really like Italian food.”(對(duì)不起我不知道,其實(shí)我不太喜歡吃意大利菜……)那你可以接著問,“Oh, ok.What kind of food do you usually go out for then?”(哦~~那你一般出去吃哪種菜呢?)

1.I was being polite。
當(dāng)然你若要說一個(gè)人有禮貌,你可以說He is polite?;蚴荋ehas good manners。不過I was beingpolite。
3.So that explains it.
4.I feel the same way.
I feelthe same way。
5.Is there someone else?
Is there someone else? 不過Is there someoneelse?
6.I can’t help myself.
I can’t help myself。 趕快消除記憶),其實(shí) I can’thelp myself. I can’t help.。 I can’t help butwonder。
7.come hell or high water

What have you got tolose? What have you gotto lose?
10.You shouldn’t be so hard on yourself。
Youshouldn’t be so hard on yourself?!
11.Don’t get me started on it。

15.I must be losing it。
Someone mustbe losing it。
16.This one is on me。
17.even up the odds
你可以說The odds are high。
18.What have we got here?
What have we gothere?
19.be out of the way

Whyall the trouble?

1.I am sorry to turn you down.
Turn you down 就是拒絕別人的要求,例如有一次我要請(qǐng)老美去參加一個(gè) party,她說她很抱歉無法參加,就是用的這句 “I am sorry to turn you down.” 另外像是男生要追女生,女生要拒絕他,也可以用 turn down,例如 “I am sorry but I have to turn you down.” 以前我也常把 turn you down 和 let you down 搞混了,這二者是完全不同的意思,turn down 表示拒絕,而 let down 則表示讓人家失望。
2.I am not interested.
像這句 “I am not interested.” 所以禮貌一點(diǎn)的說法應(yīng)該是 “I am sorry.I am not interested.”
3.I'll think about it.
4.I can't afford it.
一樣?xùn)|西太貴你買不起就可以這么說 “I can't afford it.” 我說 “I can't afford it.” 那個(gè)老黑居然說 “Do you have credit card?”
通常你就可以直接了當(dāng)?shù)卣f “I don't like it.” 或是 “It's too expensive.I can't afford it.” 5.I can't handle it.
像是上學(xué)期我跟我同學(xué)說 “I took too many courses, I can't afford it.” 她就回答我說 “You mean you can't handle it?” 再舉一個(gè)例子,例如工作很多作不完,你就可以這么說 “There's too much workload here.I can't handle it.” 有時(shí)老中會(huì)說成 “I can't afford it.”
6.I am really not in the mood.
Mood 解釋成心情,沒有心情你可以說成 “I don't have the mood.” 或是 “I am not in the mood.” 比如考試期間,別人還找你出去玩,你就可以這么拒絕他 “I am sorry.I am really not in the mood.”
7.There is nothing to talk about.
當(dāng)別人問你的問題你不想回答或懶得回答時(shí)就可以回答 “There is nothing to talk about.” 例如有人問你考試考幾分,你自己考得太差而不想講,就可以說 “There is nothing to talk about.”
在英語(yǔ) There is nothing to V.可當(dāng)作是一個(gè)片語(yǔ)來使用,解釋成沒什么好怎樣怎樣的,例如 There is nothing to worry about, 就是說沒什么好擔(dān)心的。記得看某部電影時(shí)小孩子問他爸爸,我們家的錢倒底夠不夠用,父親就對(duì)小孩子說 “There is nothing for you to worry about.” 8.I really want to, but I got hundreds of things to do.
別人邀請(qǐng)你參加他們的活動(dòng),就算你不想去,也不要直接了當(dāng)?shù)卣f “No, I don't want to.” 試著用這種比較好的說法,先說 “I really want to” , 或是 “I really love to”, 再來才接著說 “but I got hundreds of things to do”.
9.I don't want to go and that's that.
可是有些人就會(huì)不識(shí)相地一直說 “What do you want me to do to change your mind?” 這時(shí)我就會(huì)不客氣地說 “I don't want it, and that's that.”
“That's that.” 這句話跟 “That's it.” 不太一樣 “That's it.” That's that 則是表示不想再跟對(duì)方談下去了,同樣的情況,你也可以這么說 “The conversation is over.”
10.That's enough, anymore is just overkill. 例如有一次跟一個(gè)老美打球,打了二局之后我問他還要不要再打,他 就說 “That's enough, anymore is just overkill.” That's overkill.”
