Good afternoon, ladies and gentlemen，Today, it is my great honor to be here and talk about environment, I'll try my best!The title of my speech is“ Let us put our words into our deeds.”

China will never forget the day July 13, 2001, on which China succeeded in the bid for the 2008 Olympic Games.Never will China forget the promise that she has made to the whole world---by September 2008, the capital will be turned into a “green city”, with the clean air,a pretty envirnment and a good ecosystem,to meet the demands to host the Olympic Games.It's a long way to go, and it's a long long long way to go for us to save the earth.For China,tourism is one of the most promising industries in the 21st century.It provides people the great opportunity to seeeverything there is to see and to go any place there is to go.It has become a lifestyle for some people,and has turned out to be the driving force in GDP growth,it has the magic to turn a backward town into a wonderland of prosperity.But on the other hand, tourism has caused many problems on our

environment.According to a survey by China Biosphere National Council, 22% of nature preserves in china have been damaged as a result of the development of tourism, 11% of natural resources have degenerated.Suppose you are standing in a forest,birds are flying in the sky,they are so happy;red flowers,green grass,butterflies are dancing in the air,they are so cheerful.Then one day a strange creature appears, walking on its two hind legs and staring at you.Greatly alarmed, you stop singing and fly away.Since then, more creatures have appeared.They clear the land and cut down trees.As a result, you don't have enough food or shelter.Some of your friends have died of drinking the wastewater they pumped into the stream or of eating the litter they left on the ground.The forest is dead silent now except for the noises those creatures make.Sadly, you think by yourself, “Maybe it is time for me to go.”

I hate to see that the global environment has changed for the worse during the past few years: Forests are cleared, prairies trampled, rivers and lakes polluted, wild animals are driven away and plants are endangered.We should realize that we can no longer stand by and do nothing.The nature is the cradle of human beings and it is also the base of the tourist industry.The nature is harmonious because of the chain of life that exists everywhere.It is possible for us to maintain a balance between the needs of man and the needs of the nature.But the nature is also fragile.Every minor damage in one link may result in an ecological disaster.We must do something to protect environment, we must put our words into our deeds.It can be as simple as do not litter, strictly observe the rules and regulations of the tourist areas, Use as few plastic bags and boxes as possible.When traveling , wherever possible, use public transportation instead of always driving your own car.Once you are in a scenic area, like in the mountains or in a forest, don't make loud noises, keep quiet so as not to disturb birds or animals.One more thing, go up and interfere whenever you see anyone doing something harmful to the environment.So let's shake hands together now as friends and see what we can do to make our one and only home a place of love and harmony.Just think what a woundful world it will be!

The population of the earth is increasing very fast.Humans must make the earth support the increasing population.This has made it necessary for agriculture and industry to develop rapidly.Such a rapid development

Material waste:it means the waste of substance or things from which something else can be made.For example,people throw away the used metal products and buy a new one,so the old metal waste accumulates.At last,they become waste.For example,when people finish reading newspaper,the paper will become waste.When the glass is broken,it also becomes waste.Nobody wants to use a broken window or drink with a broken glass or wear a pair of broken glasses.Once it is broken,it becomes waste.The rate of using plastics is increasing day by day.People use plastic bags because they are convenient.When they get home,they throw the plastics way,paying no attention to the environment.The more convenience plastics brings to us,the more plastic waste is produced.This is called “white pollution” as most plastics are white.Some of our products we use every day are made of rubber,just like the tyres and the bottom part of our shoes.It’s true that rubber plays an important role in our life.However,it also brings us some trouble when it has been used for a long time and becomes old.The old tyres become waste because it can’t break down by nature.This is really a big problem.

我們可以這樣做：

2.看到地上有垃圾馬上撿起來(lái)扔進(jìn)垃圾桶。

3.放學(xué)后不去大型玩具玩，不去玩沙池玩。

旅行時(shí)盡量走路、騎自行車(chē)或坐公交車(chē)，少開(kāi)私家車(chē)，減少尾氣排放，鍛煉身體。為什么不可以?

但是我們因?yàn)橐粫r(shí)的私利,大量砍伐樹(shù)木,造成水土流失和大量動(dòng)物慘遭滅絕.

環(huán)境對(duì)人類(lèi)來(lái)說(shuō)既是天堂,又是地獄,人們睜大那貪夢(mèng)的雙眼,恨不得將所有的財(cái)富占為己有.人類(lèi)破壞環(huán)境,就是在破壞自己,自己的生存環(huán)境,人類(lèi)應(yīng)該用眼睛證實(shí)一下,這奇特現(xiàn)象存在的事實(shí),進(jìn)而能不能改善我們的生態(tài)環(huán)境.

環(huán)境向我們呼吁,必須盡快采取一切措施,拯救日趨頻危的野生動(dòng)物,拯救我們的生存環(huán)境.生物學(xué)家發(fā)出了震撼全球的警告:“全世界將有5000種動(dòng)物在不長(zhǎng)的時(shí)期滅絕”.但同時(shí)幾乎發(fā)出同一聲音:“本世紀(jì)上半期,每隔5年就有一種哺乳動(dòng)物滅絕,本世紀(jì)下半期,已加速到每隔兩年就在滅絕一種.”

警告就在空中回蕩,悲劇仍在腳下發(fā)展.

進(jìn)入高文明社會(huì)的人類(lèi),正在野蠻愚昧的破壞生態(tài)環(huán)境.

地球上指可數(shù)的野生動(dòng)物資源大國(guó),在想方設(shè)法保護(hù)他們的同時(shí),也無(wú)可奈何地看著他們慘遭撲殺,踐踏,掠奪,人類(lèi)在破壞環(huán)境時(shí),也在破壞國(guó)家的保護(hù)動(dòng)物,大熊貓.素有“國(guó)寶”之稱(chēng)等等命運(yùn)同樣不佳,如果再破壞生態(tài)環(huán)境,這些世代賴以繁衍的家園也遭到瘋狂的掃蕩,株連九族的下場(chǎng)并不鮮見(jiàn),是我們?nèi)祟?lèi)殘酷無(wú)情的破壞他們.

我國(guó)的長(zhǎng)江,黃河目前也遭到同樣的破壞,導(dǎo)致水污染嚴(yán)重,人們將垃圾扔到里面.使黃河,長(zhǎng)江的水,不再是以前那樣的清澈見(jiàn)底了.導(dǎo)致長(zhǎng)江,黃河被污染的諸多因素中,人為因素是重要的因素之一.只要這個(gè)因素不徹底消除,那么“天敵”的罪名依然是人類(lèi)難逃的夢(mèng)魘!·保護(hù)野生動(dòng)物就是保護(hù)人類(lèi)自己.

保護(hù)環(huán)境不僅有利于我們的身體健康,同時(shí)也在為我們的子孫后代造福,保護(hù)環(huán)境的主要目的是改善環(huán)境質(zhì)量,保障人體健康和促進(jìn)社會(huì)經(jīng)濟(jì)的可持續(xù)發(fā)展,保護(hù)環(huán)境不僅要從小事做起,更要從自己做起,積極的和破壞環(huán)境的人做斗爭(zhēng).讓環(huán)境和以前一樣沒(méi)有任何污染,

一種天然的靈性告訴我們:只有和平相處才能繼續(xù)生存.讓我們攜起手來(lái)共創(chuàng)美好明天.

還我們綠色空間

我們知道,在千百年前,人類(lèi)以征服自然,運(yùn)用自然萬(wàn)物作為人類(lèi)文明的標(biāo)志,千百年后的`今天,人類(lèi)又是否以尊重自然,釋放自然,在與自然和諧相處中把延續(xù)生存作為現(xiàn)代覺(jué)悟的象征呢

記得有這樣一句話:“兩個(gè)黃鸝鳴翠柳,一行白鷺上青天.”有人戲謔這樣的意境只存在于都市人的夢(mèng)中了.看著我們的周?chē)?摩天大樓高聳入云,遮掩了本應(yīng)遼闊的天空,股票廳里,模豎交織的熒屏上,鮮活的數(shù)字跳躍著工廠繁忙的機(jī)械聲和路人匆匆的腳步聲交織在一起,這就是所謂的“都市節(jié)奏”嗎在這暢欲橫流的年代里,許多人為著眼前的利益忙碌著,甚至因此不惜犧牲子孫后代賴以生存的家園.我們的家園被污濁的河流包圍了,樹(shù)木成片倒下,鳥(niǎo)獸也被捕殺……,人類(lèi)創(chuàng)造了巨大的物質(zhì)財(cái)富,物質(zhì)生活也因此得到了驚人的改善,可我不禁要問(wèn):這就是人類(lèi)千百年來(lái)夸父般追逐的那個(gè)夢(mèng)想嗎

我又想起了以前看過(guò)的一個(gè)故事,在淮河流域某村,50多歲的村民由于長(zhǎng)期飲用被污染的河水,死于食道癌.在他的新墳上,一瓶雪碧是人們給水污染受害者的唯一祭品.也許你跟我一樣,也難以置信,但它的的確確發(fā)生在我們周?chē)?在中國(guó),是啊,就在中國(guó)!心里又不禁涌起一陣心酸.在這個(gè)發(fā)展中國(guó)家里,經(jīng)濟(jì)固然重要,但環(huán)保更是關(guān)系國(guó)際民生子孫后代的大事啊!

為了我們的后代能夠有一個(gè)良好的生存環(huán)境,為了人類(lèi)能夠在這個(gè)蔚藍(lán)的星球上繁衍生息下去,我們中學(xué)生不能只顧在書(shū)海中沉浮.伸出你的手,伸出我的手,讓我們共同努力,將我們的家園恢復(fù)到原有的面貌,讓我們盡情享受那份失落已久的鳥(niǎo)語(yǔ)花香,那份清新與寧謐吧!讓我們每一個(gè)人都彎彎腰,撒一粒綠色的種子,讓綠色覆蓋在每一片土地上,讓我們每一個(gè)人都挑一擔(dān)綠色的希望,置放在中華大地的每一個(gè)空間.

mr. chairman, i join my colleague mr. rangel in thanking you for giving the junior members of this committee the glorious opportunity of sharing the pain of this inquiry. mr. chairman, you are a strong man, and it has not been easy but we have tried as best we can to give you as much assistance as possible.

earlier today, we heard the beginning of the preamble to the constitution of the united states: “we, the people.” it's a very eloquent beginning. but when that document was completed on the seventeenth of september in 1787, i was not included in that “we, the people.” i felt somehow for many years that george washington and alexander hamilton just left me out by mistake. but through the process of amendment, interpretation, and court decision, i have finally been included in “we, the people.”

today i am an inquisitor. an hyperbole would not be fictional and would not overstate the solemnness that i feel right now. my faith in the constitution is whole; it is complete; it is total. and i am not going to sit here and be an idle spectator to the diminution, the subversion, the destruction, of the constitution.

“who can so properly be the inquisitors for the nation as the representatives of the nation themselves?” “the subjects of its jurisdiction are those offenses which proceed from the misconduct of public men.” and that's what we're talking about. in other words, [the jurisdiction comes] from the abuse or violation of some public trust.

it is wrong, i suggest, it is a misreading of the constitution for any member here to assert that for a member to vote for an article of impeachment means that that member must be convinced that the president should be removed from office. the constitution doesn't say that. the powers relating to impeachment are an essential check in the hands of the body of the legislature against and upon the encroachments of the executive. the division between the two branches of the legislature, the house and the senate, assigning to the one the right to accuse and to the other the right to judge, the framers of this constitution were very astute. they did not make the accusers and the judgers -- and the judges the same person.

we know the nature of impeachment. we've been talking about it awhile now. it is chiefly designed for the president and his high ministers to somehow be called into account. it is designed to “bridle” the executive if he engages in excesses. “it is designed as a method of national inquest into the conduct of public men.” the framers confided in the congress the power if need be, to remove the president in order to strike a delicate balance between a president swollen with power and grown tyrannical, and preservation of the independence of the executive.

the nature of impeachment: a narrowly channeled exception to the separation-of-powers maxim. the federal convention of 1787 said that. it limited impeachment to high crimes and misdemeanors and discounted and opposed the term “maladministration.” “it is to be used only for great misdemeanors,” so it was said in the north carolina ratification convention. and in the virginia ratification convention: “we do not trust our liberty to a particular branch. we need one branch to check the other.”

“no one need be afraid” -- the north carolina ratification convention -- “no one need be afraid that officers who commit oppression will pass with immunity.” “prosecutions of impeachments will seldom fail to agitate the passions of the whole community,” said hamilton in the federalist papers, number 65. “we divide into parties more or less friendly or inimical to the accused.” i do not mean political parties in that sense.

the drawing of political lines goes to the motivation behind impeachment; but impeachment must proceed within the confines of the constitutional term “high crime[s] and misdemeanors.” of the impeachment process, it was woodrow wilson who said that “nothing short of the grossest offenses against the plain law of the land will suffice to give them speed and effectiveness. indignation so great as to overgrow party interest may secure a conviction; but nothing else can.”

common sense would be revolted if we engaged upon this process for petty reasons. congress has a lot to do: appropriations, tax reform, health insurance, campaign finance reform, housing, environmental protection, energy sufficiency, mass transportation. pettiness cannot be allowed to stand in the face of such overwhelming problems. so today we are not being petty. we are trying to be big, because the task we have before us is a big one.

this morning, in a discussion of the evidence, we were told that the evidence which purports to support the allegations of misuse of the cia by the president is thin. we're told that that evidence is insufficient. what that recital of the evidence this morning did not include is what the president did know on june the 23rd, 1972.

the president did know that it was republican money, that it was money from the committee for the re-election of the president, which was found in the possession of one of the burglars arrested on june the 17th. what the president did know on the 23rd of june was the prior activities of e. howard hunt, which included his participation in the break-in of daniel ellsberg's psychiatrist, which included howard hunt's participation in the dita beard itt affair, which included howard hunt's fabrication of cables designed to discredit the kennedy administration.

we were further cautioned today that perhaps these proceedings ought to be delayed because certainly there would be new evidence forthcoming from the president of the united states. there has not even been an obfuscated indication that this committee would receive any additional materials from the president. the committee subpoena is outstanding, and if the president wants to supply that material, the committee sits here. the fact is that on yesterday, the american people waited with great anxiety for eight hours, not knowing whether their president would obey an order of the supreme court of the united states.

at this point, i would like to juxtapose a few of the impeachment criteria with some of the actions the president has engaged in. impeachment criteria: james madison, from the virginia ratification convention. “if the president be connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter him, he may be impeached.”

we have heard time and time again that the evidence reflects the payment to defendants money. the president had knowledge that these funds were being paid and these were funds collected for the 1972 presidential campaign. we know that the president met with mr. henry petersen 27 times to discuss matters related to watergate, and immediately thereafter met with the very persons who were implicated in the information mr. petersen was receiving. the words are: “if the president is connected in any suspicious manner with any person and there be grounds to believe that he will shelter that person, he may be impeached.”

justice story: “impeachment” is attended -- “is intended for occasional and extraordinary cases where a superior power acting for the whole people is put into operation to protect their rights and rescue their liberties from violations.” we know about the huston plan. we know about the break-in of the psychiatrist's office. we know that there was absolute complete direction on september 3rd when the president indicated that a surreptitious entry had been made in dr. fielding's office, after having met with mr. ehrlichman and mr. young. “protect their rights.” “rescue their liberties from violation.”

the carolina ratification convention impeachment criteria: those are impeachable “who behave amiss or betray their public trust.”4 beginning shortly after the watergate break-in and continuing to the present time, the president has engaged in a series of public statements and actions designed to thwart the lawful investigation by government prosecutors. moreover, the president has made public announcements and assertions bearing on the watergate case, which the evidence will show he knew to be false. these assertions, false assertions, impeachable, those who misbehave. those who “behave amiss or betray the public trust.”

james madison again at the constitutional convention: “a president is impeachable if he attempts to subvert the constitution.” the constitution charges the president with the task of taking care that the laws be faithfully executed, and yet the president has counseled his aides to commit perjury, willfully disregard the secrecy of grand jury proceedings, conceal surreptitious entry, attempt to compromise a federal judge, while publicly displaying his cooperation with the processes of criminal justice. “a president is impeachable if he attempts to subvert the constitution.”

if the impeachment provision in the constitution of the united states will not reach the offenses charged here, then perhaps that 18th-century constitution should be abandoned to a 20th-century paper shredder.

has the president committed offenses, and planned, and directed, and acquiesced in a course of conduct which the constitution will not tolerate? that's the question. we know that. we know the question. we should now forthwith proceed to answer the question. it is reason, and not passion, which must guide our deliberations, guide our debate, and guide our decision.

On Christmas morning, the children wake up very early. At about one o'clock in the afternoon, the Christmas dinner is brought in . The turkey or chicken is quickly eaten . Children search in their Christmas pudding for new coins which are hidden in it . but i totally support the view, that is to say, emotion without action is irrelevant! do you unplug electronics after you use them? do you switch off everything before you go to sleep? do you adjust your tv screen a bit dimmer to save energy? do you re-use water for different activities around the house? each of these seemingly insignificant adjustments in your daily life can make a difference in saving the environment of tomorrow.

Second, we can practice conservation.

We can reduce wastes and reuse them.

People in rich countries make the heaviest demands on the world's resources, its food, fuel and land, and cause the most pollution. A baby born in the United States will use in his lifetime 30 times more of the world's resources than a baby born in India. Unless all the countries of the world take united action to deal with the population explosion there will be more and more people fighting for a share of less and less land, food and fuel, and the future will bring poverty, misery and war to us all.For most of the developing countries, it is a good idea to control the population growth. For example, China has carried out birth control for years. And this plan has a great effect on the world population.If the population continues to increase, if the air and water continue to be polluted, if we don't do something to protect wild-plant and wildlife species will be declining. Species and biological communities have difficulty adapting to change. Economic opportunities and the quality of life of future generations are also put at risk. Someone may ask who is our rival in this competition? The modern Los Angeles, the charming Sydney, or the historic Athens? No, none of them. The real rival is ourselves. It is our bad habits of neglecting to protect environment in our daily life.

Several years ago, I was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the United States for about two years. I not only enjoyed the beautiful environment there, but also appreciated the American people's active way of protecting their environment. Now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, a beautiful view of California will arise in my mind: white clouds flying across the blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and small animals playing happily among the trees.

I remember that at the beginning of my coming to America, I often went to my father's working place, the United States Geological Survey, to have fun. Each time I found a lot of people riding bicycles to their offices. Among the cyclists, an old man with white hair attracted my attention. Curiously, I asked my father,“ Why does the old man ride his bike to work every day? Doesn't he have enough money to buy a car?” Father laughed, “No, not because of money. Actually, he is one of the greatest scientists in the world. He can afford to buy a motorcade if he likes. He is just an environmentalist and usually doesn't drive unless going shopping, or in bad weather. In America, there are a lot of environmentalists, who actively protect their environment. For example, in Palo Alto city we are living now, there is even a bicycle-to-work day on May 19th every year to encourage people to decrease air pollution caused by cars”.

Later, I also learnt another interesting fact of environment protection there. In some states of America, in order to decrease air pollution, save energy and reduce traffic jams, state governments encourage people to take buses to work or to share a car among several people. They even set special “diamond lanes” in some main streets, which are only for the vehicles with 2 or more people.

The positive actions of American people and the effective measures the American government takes in environment protection fully won my respects and deeply affected my consciousness in environment protection.

When I was back in China, people often asked me: “ What do you think of America?” I always bolt out:“ Wonderful, especially the beautiful environment.” Frankly speaking, after several years, the faces of my American teachers and friends have gradually faded away from my mind, but the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California often arise in my mind, and became my dream of visiting there again.

The 20xx Olympics provide us with the opportunity to publicize and practise environment protection in Beijing. Is it possible for Beijing to Is it possible for Beijing to become as beautiful as California? The answer is “yes”, but the dream needs every Beijing citizen's full support and active moves to accomplish.
