      An insatiable appetite

Laurie Lee states in his composition Appetite that “wilde said he felt sorry for those who never got their heart’s desire, but sorrier still for those who did.” For his part, appetite is one of the main pleasures in life, which can guard the happiness of life.I quite agree with his viewpoint. When I was young, I had a strong desire to possess a beautiful dress. However, my parents would not buy me a dress in order to cut down family expenditures. At the same time, my companions could have pretty clothes and all they wanted to eat, which made me envious.I would rather possess a pretty dress than have a meal. The craving was so intensive that I dreamt every lovely dress at night.Nevertheless, when I got a dreamy dress from my parents one day, all appetite was disappeared.I felt joyful for an acute moment. Then, nothing can remain in the wanting, neither dress nor lust.As the proverb goes, “Happiness is the process of acquisition, rather than results.” When we finally reach our goals, the happiness is not as keen as we have anticipated. In conclusion, life is short and precious, and we should preserve the desire to have a happy life.3080311131 顧曉晨 英語085班
