1.個性原則：

我相信申請出國的大多數(shù)人都不是牛人。當(dāng)你不是牛人，無法向?qū)Ψ酱祰u自己是多么的聰明的時候，你就必須向?qū)Ψ秸宫F(xiàn)自己的個人魅力。當(dāng)你坐在計算機(jī)前開始寫作的時候，你一定要想清楚自己是什么樣的人，自己有什么優(yōu)點。如果你不能讓對方相信你的聰明和愛因斯坦是同數(shù)量級的（這種人指的是畢業(yè)于名校，gpa在3.8以上），那么你就應(yīng)該讓他相信你的勤奮或是堅韌的毅力與阿甘相比有過之而無不及，--------當(dāng)然你也可以想出你的其他優(yōu)點。不過，你也不要把我的意思弄擰了，我并不是說，你不能說自己是聰明的，而是說，你或許可以著更多的筆墨在你的勤奮上。畢竟，聰明僅僅是成功的一個因素，而你的毅力，合作力等等可能是成功更重要的因素。

2.專業(yè)原則

你在你的ps和rl里首先要寫大量的專業(yè)性的東西，并且在寫rl的時候尤其要以指導(dǎo)老師的口吻寫很多你做實驗的細(xì)節(jié)性的東西，并且說你如何解決了一些決定性的問題。

就象去騙簽證官，如果你無法說出一兩個專業(yè)名詞的話，即使有大學(xué)畢業(yè)證書證明你是哪所學(xué)校什么專業(yè)畢業(yè)的，也不能讓簽證官相信你確實是去美國上學(xué)，而不是去打工或移民什么的。因為任何文件都可以造假，而你的思想是造不了假的。你要盡量把你的思想給反映出來。

你一定要記住，美國的大學(xué)之所以給你獎學(xué)金，求著你去學(xué)他們的理工科專業(yè)，并不是因為你的英語學(xué)的比美國人好，gre考的比美國人高，或是想給中國免費培養(yǎng)人才，而是你能為他們做實驗，能給他們出文章，你在美國攻讀學(xué)位期間所做的工作將會或大或小的為美國的經(jīng)濟(jì)發(fā)展做出貢獻(xiàn)，盡管也許一時還看不出來。所以，專業(yè)原則是最重要的一個原則。

3.自信原則：

美國人喜歡自我表現(xiàn)，他們喜歡自信的人。不管你是寫ps，還是去見簽證官，或是以后在課堂上做presentation，你都要牢記這個原則。所以自信原則是貫穿于你的ps始終的。你要象展示你的傳家寶一樣自信的向他們展示你閃光點，也要以expert的語氣大談你做過的課題。

4.優(yōu)勢突出原則和實話原則：

這兩個原則本來都不想寫，因為覺得誰都應(yīng)該知道的，可是考慮到可能還是有人沒能明白這個原則，所以還是得寫。我丈夫就是這樣的。他的第一篇ps給我看了，他談到了他父親的死對他的影響，談到了要為中國的富強(qiáng)做出貢獻(xiàn)（看的我好感動），可是他對自己人生的閃光點卻只字未提。我對他說要重寫，而且第一篇一個字也不能保留。他的ps應(yīng)該是這樣的：他于某某年以全年級第一名的成績被保送到北京大學(xué)化學(xué)系（并且此時要注明全年級有多少人），并且北京大學(xué)是全中國排名第一的大學(xué)。又因為在北京大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)優(yōu)秀，在多少多少人中脫穎而出，在某某年獲得年級或系里的獎學(xué)金。并且又于某某年因為在多少人中排名多少名，被著名的北京大學(xué)保送到著名的中國科學(xué)院讀研究生，等等。下面的就不用我說了吧，反正你曾經(jīng)獲得過什么獎勵，獲得過什么特殊的機(jī)會是一定要寫明白的。對了，還有你的最有說服力的優(yōu)勢，就是你發(fā)表的論文。你的文章是在什么雜志上發(fā)表的，這個雜志有沒有被sci收錄，sci影響因子是多少，也一定要寫清楚。這可是重頭戲，對你的錄取有極大幫助。

然后是實話原則。從小在中國的政治課中教育出來的中國學(xué)生們喜歡喊口號，回憶一下我們上的作文課，語文老師諄諄教導(dǎo)我們寫作文立意要新，眼光要高，最后都要歸結(jié)為要為四化做貢獻(xiàn)這樣的大而寬的主題中去?？墒?，有誰能真正相信自己學(xué)習(xí)的最內(nèi)在的動力是為祖國做貢獻(xiàn)呢？寫ps的時候不是展現(xiàn)你的愛國心的地方。

專業(yè)的動機(jī)，最好也最普通的動機(jī)是你的興趣，或是你對未來事業(yè)的設(shè)想，但是，不管你寫什么，你一定要讓對方相信這確實是你最內(nèi)在也是最直接的動機(jī)。

5． 簡潔原則：

這個原則來源于我看到的of156表上，申請學(xué)生簽證時必須填的學(xué)習(xí)計劃。以后大家會看到，這一項中給的空格特別小，估計也只夠?qū)懴?0-40字的，而學(xué)習(xí)計劃則是多么龐大的一個課題??！老公不禁抱怨美國人小氣，那么節(jié)省紙張。其實，美國人倒不是為了節(jié)省紙張，而是為了節(jié)省時間。不會有人會有時間去看你的冗長的敘述的，所以你一定要寫的簡潔。我認(rèn)為一篇ps以一張半a4紙為宜，最多也不能超過兩頁。一封rl也就一頁紙。但是，你在這么少的篇幅里一定要寫出你的個性。如果能用一句話寫的，千萬不要用兩句話。有效的用一些同位語插入，縮短你的篇幅，當(dāng)然這是以句子流暢為前提的，不要把文章寫的象gre的閱讀那么晦澀難懂。每段開頭最好有一個topic sentence，這樣讓看的人可以最快的抓住主題，不要讓人家看半天也不知道你想說什么。反正要用最短的篇幅反映最多的內(nèi)容。譬如說我給老公在of156表上寫的學(xué)習(xí)計劃是這樣的：某某領(lǐng)域，在中國正方興未艾，而美國某某大學(xué)的某某教授是這個領(lǐng)域的領(lǐng)頭羊，我相信我在某某大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)這個專業(yè)一定會對我回到中國后，在這個領(lǐng)域的發(fā)展起到巨大的促進(jìn)作用的。

6.清楚原則：

所謂的清楚原則，就是你的ps中沒有任何有疑問的地方。就象寫專業(yè)論文一樣，如果有縮寫，在出現(xiàn)的第一次，你一定要寫出它的全稱，打個括號寫上縮寫（當(dāng)然是除了眾所周知的，譬如gre，toefl之類的）。如果你拿過獎學(xué)金，一定要象我在優(yōu)勢突出原則中寫的那樣，要注明是在多少人的競爭中拿到的。并且，你上的大學(xué)排名多少也一定要注明。因為外國人是不可能非常清楚地了解中國大學(xué)的情況的，所以你一定要給別人留下清楚的感覺。

反正我想原則性的東西就這些了，具體的寫作還要靠大家去自己把握。文章寫好后，最好給英文好的人看一下，再請自己專業(yè)的人看一下。

其他的想法：

很多人在討論套瓷有沒有什么作用，我曾在gter的網(wǎng)站上看到一個臺灣人寫的文章，說是他得到了5個學(xué)校的offer，其中只有一個學(xué)校是套瓷得來的。確實如此，我認(rèn)為套瓷的成功率只有20%，甚至更低。我老公在聯(lián)系學(xué)校的時候，也套過瓷。并且他的研究方向是一種中國特有的中草藥，而且他還就這種中藥發(fā)表了一篇sci2.0以上的文章。當(dāng)時最為難得的就是美國有一所大學(xué)的一個教授也在研究這種中藥，于是就寫信去套瓷，人家教授倒是很熱情，信件往來了好幾封，照道理來說，這所學(xué)校是最有希望的一個，可是他還是把我老公給拒了。后來是一個沒有套瓷的學(xué)校給他發(fā)來的offer。

如果他講不上話，那跟沒套瓷也差不多。所以大家還是要把精力放在申請上，套瓷是你把所有材料都寄出去以后才做的事。

還有，我在gter上還看到一篇文章，說是春季入學(xué)是沒有獎學(xué)金的。不過，我有兩個同學(xué)都申請了春季入學(xué)，都拿到了獎學(xué)金。春季入學(xué)的名額雖然少，但也不是絕對沒有。

申請英國大學(xué)留學(xué)，國外院校的負(fù)責(zé)人是很重視自薦信和教授推薦信的。

一、推薦信要真實客觀

第四篇：申請國外大學(xué)的和指導(dǎo)

除了通用申請的Essay之外，有些學(xué)校還提供另外寫一篇Essay的機(jī)會。有些學(xué)校讓你在他們提供的題目中作出選擇；而有些學(xué)校則沒有任何限制。比如耶魯大學(xué)的要求非常簡單，只是要求你寫一篇500單詞以內(nèi)的你想讓耶魯閱讀的Essay即可，基本沒有任何限制。哈佛大學(xué)也是讓你自行決定寫什么內(nèi)容、什么題目，只不過給出了幾個可能的寫作題目建議：

a)你生命中的一個不尋常經(jīng)歷；

b)你在其他國家旅行和生活的經(jīng)歷；

c)對你最具影響力的書；

d)某學(xué)術(shù)經(jīng)歷(課程、研究項目、論文、或研究課題)；

e)過去一年中你讀過的一系列圖書。

請記住，這些只是哈佛建議的題目，決不是要限制你從中挑選，你完全可以自定題目來寫。

應(yīng)該做的仔細(xì)閱讀題目并花多些時間去思考。

保證你沒有問非所答。

與你的父母、朋友或教師討論該題目。

同樣認(rèn)真地回答那些短問答。當(dāng)被問及你參與課外活動的表現(xiàn)時，應(yīng)列舉你花費大多數(shù)時間參加的幾個活動來回答，并說出該些活動對你的意義。

花費幾天的時間去思考題目及準(zhǔn)備寫作。

先做一個大綱及組織文章的內(nèi)容。

寫一個初稿：使用一種簡單的文體和語調(diào)寫作，并力求簡潔。使用你感舒適的字眼，有助別人更易於理解你的想法。讓別人過目并對你的草稿提出意見。改正和修輯你的文章。

整齊寫出或者打印出你的終稿。

校對你的文章。

不應(yīng)做的不要只是重復(fù)你已經(jīng)填寫過的資料。

不要詳述或恭維你想申請的學(xué)院。委員會想要知道的是有關(guān)你的東西，而非該學(xué)校的情況。

不要以相同的散文套用在不同的學(xué)院。

不要寫一些你不知道或認(rèn)識的東西。

不要使用艱深的字眼以圖使委員會對你有更佳的印象，你可能會錯漏百出。使用簡單、易於理解的字眼去清楚表達(dá)自己更為重要。

不要請其他人代寫你的文章，因委員會通常都能夠辨別出來。如果他們查明屬實，你可能會被取消資格。

動筆前至少應(yīng)該花上1到2個星期的時間去考慮短文的主題。在這個過程中，你會發(fā)現(xiàn)許多以前從未想到過的題目。以下一些問題僅供參考。你是怎么一個人？

Too Easy to Rebel

In my mother’s more angry and disillusioned moods, she often declares that my sisters and I are “smarter than is good” for us, by which she means we are too ambitious, too independent-minded, and somehow, subtly un-Chinese.At such times, I do not argue, for I realize how difficult it must be for her and my father—having to deal with children who reject their simple idea of life and threaten to drag them into a future they do not understand.For my parents, plans for our futures were very simple.We were to get good grades, go to good colleges, and become good scientists,mathematicians, or engineers.It had to do with being Chinese.But my sisters and I rejected that future, and the year I came home with Honors in English, History and Debate was a year of disillusion for my parents.It was not that they weren’t proud of my accomplishments, but merely that they had certain ideas of what was safe and solid, what we did in life.Physics, math, turning in homework, and crossing the street when Hare Krishnas were on our side—those things were safe.But the Humanities we left for Pure Americans.Unfortunately for my parents, however, the security of that world is simply not enough for me, and I have scared them more than once with what they call my “wild” treks into unfamiliar areas.I spent one afternoon interviewing the Hare Krishnas for our school newspaper—and they nearly called the police.Then, to make things worse, I decided to enter the Crystal Springs Drama contest.For my parents, acting was something Chinese girls did not do.It smacked of the bohemian, and was but a short step to drugs, debauchery, and all the dark, illicit facets of life.They never did approve of the experience—even despite my second place at Crystal Springs and my assurances that acting was, after all, no more than a whim.What I was doing when was moving away from the security my parents prescribed.I was motivated by my own desire to see more of what life had to offer, and by ideas I’d picked up at my Curriculum Committee meetings.This committee consisted of teachers who felt that students should learn to understand life, not memorize formulas;that somehow our college preparatory curriculum had to be made less rigid.There were English teachers who wanted to integrate Math into other more “important” science courses, and Math teachers who wanted to abolish English entirely.There were even some teachers who suggested making Transcendental Meditation a requirement.But the common denominator behind these

slightly eccentric ideas was a feeling that the school should produce more thoughtful individuals, for whom life meant more than good grades and Ivy League futures.Their values were precisely the opposite of those my parents had instilled in me.It has been a difficult task indeed for me to reconcile these two opposing impulses.It would be simple enough just to rebel against all my parents expect.But I cannot afford to rebel.There is too much that is

fragile—the world my parents have worked so hard to build, the security that comes with it, and a fading Chinese heritage.I realize it must be immensely frustrating for my parents, with children who are persistently “too smart” for them and their simple idea of life, living in a land they have come to consider home, and yet can never fully understand.In a way, they have stopped trying to understand it, content with their own little microcosms.It is my burden now to build my own, new world without shattering theirs;to plunge into the future without completely letting go of the past.And that is a challenge I am not at all certain I can meet.點評Comments:
