So when people ask me whether being in the the White House has changed my husband, I can honestly say that when it comes to his character, and his convictions and his heart, Barack Obama is still the same man I fell in love with all those years ago.Yeh, he is the same man who started his career by turning down high paying jobs, and instead working in struggling neighborhood where a steel plant had shut down, fighting to rebuild those communities and get folks back to work.Because for Barack, success is not about how much money you make, it is about the diffence you make in people’s lives.He is the same man(who), when our girls were first born, would anxiously check their cribs every few minutes to ensure they were still breathing, proudly showing them off to everyone we knew.You see, that’s the man who sits down with me and our girls for dinner nearly every night, patiently answering their questions about issues in the news, strategizing about middle school firendships.That’s the man I see in those quiet moments late at night, hunched over his dest, pouring over the letters people have sent him.The letter from the father struggling to pay his bill, from the woman dying of cancer whose insurance company won’t cover her care, from the young person(people)with so many promise but so few opportunites.I see the concern in his eyes…and I hear the determination in his voice as he tells me,‖you won’t believe what these folks are going through, Michelle, it’s not right.We’ve got to keep working to fix this.We’ve got so much more to do‖.I see, I see how those stories – out collection of struggles and hopes and dreams—I see how that’s what drives Barack Obama every single day.And I didn’t think it was possible.But today(let me tell you today), I love my husband even more than I did four years ago, even more than I did 23 years ago, when we first met.Let me tell you why.See, I love that he’s never forgotten how he started.I love that we can trust Barack to do what he says he’s going to do, even when it’s hard, especially when it’s hard.Yeh, I love that for Barack, there is no such thing as ―us‖ and ―them‖.He doesn’t care whether you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or none of the above.He knows that we all love our country, and he’s always ready to listen to good ideas.He’s always looking for the

Remarks of President Barack ObamaMay 19, 2012 For the past three and a half years, we’ve been fighting our way back from an historic economic crisis – one caused by breathtaking irresponsibility on the part of some on Wall Street who treated our financial system like a casino.Not only did that behavior nearly destroy the financial system – it cost our economy millions of jobs, hurt middle-class families, and left taxpayers holding the bag.Since then, we’ve recovered taxpayer dollars that were used to stabilize troubled banks.And we’ve put in place Wall Street reform with smarter, tougher, commonsense rules that serve one primary purpose: to prevent a crisis like that from ever happening again.And yet, for the past two years, too many Republicans in Congress and an army of financial industry lobbyists have actually been waging an all-out battle to delay, defund, and dismantle Wall Street reform.Recently, we’ve seen why we can’t let that happen.We found out that a big mistake at one of our biggest banks resulted in a two billion dollar loss.While that bank can handle a loss of that size, other banks may not have been able to.And without Wall Street reform, we could have found ourselves with the taxpayers once again on the hook for Wall Street’s mistakes.That’s why it’s so important that Members of Congress stand on the side of reform, not against it;because we can’t afford to go back to an era of weak regulation and little oversight;where excessive risk-taking on Wall Street and a lack of basic oversight in Washington nearly destroyed our economy.We can't afford to go back to that brand of “you’re-on-your-own” economics.Not after the American people have worked so hard to come back from this crisis.We’ve got to keep moving forward.We’ve got to finish the job of implementing this reform and putting these rules in place.These new rules say that, if you’rea big bank or financial institution, you now have to hold more cash on hand so that if you make a bad decision you pay for it, not the taxpayers.You have to write out a “l(fā)iving will” that details how you’ll be wound down if you do fail.The new law takes away big bonuses and paydays from failed CEOs, while giving shareholders a say on executive salaries.And for the first time in our nation’s history, we have in place a consumer watchdog whose sole job is to look out for working families by protecting them from deceptive and unfair practices.So unless you run a financial institution whose business model is built on cheating consumers, or making risky bets that could damage the whole economy, you have nothing to fear from Wall Street reform.Yes, it discourages big banks and financial institutions from making risky bets with taxpayer-insured money.And it encourages them to do things that actually help the economy – like extending loans toentrepreneurs with good ideas, to middle-class families who want to buy a home, to students who want to pursue higher education.That is what Wall Street reform is all about – making this economy stronger for you.And we are going to keep working – to recover every job lost to the recession;to build an economy where hard work and responsibility are once again rewarded;to restore an America where everyone has a fair shot, everyone does their fair share, and everyone plays by the same rules.I believe the free market is one of the greatest forces for progress in human history;that businesses are the engine of growth;that risk-takers and innovators should be celebrated.But I also believe that at its best, the free market has never been a license to take whatever you want, however you can get it.Alongside our entrepreneurial spirit and rugged individualism, America only prospers when we meet our obligations to one another;and to future generations.If you agree with me, let your Member of Congress know.Tell them to spend less time working to undermine rules that are there to protect the economy, and spend more time actually working to strengthen the economy.Thanks and have a great weekend.Vicky: What are you working on? 然而我們知道，最慘痛的是那些未向全世界播出的畫面：餐桌旁空空如也的椅子；失去父母的兒童們；再也無法體會(huì)孩子擁抱的父母們。將近3000名市民離開了我們，同時(shí)在我們心中留下巨大空洞。

2001年9月11日，在我們這個(gè)悲痛的時(shí)刻，全體美國人走到了一起。我們向鄰居們伸出援手，為受傷者獻(xiàn)血。我們相互之間的關(guān)系更加牢固，我們對社區(qū)和國家的愛更加濃烈。

他總會(huì)提醒我們?nèi)沃氐肋h(yuǎn)，變革往往艱難而緩慢，根本無法一撅而起，但總有一天，我們會(huì)成功，就如既往的那些勝利，我們會(huì)最終達(dá)到彼岸，因?yàn)橄裎业母改?，他的祖母，還有所有像他們一樣的人都對自己承諾，我沒能實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的夢想，但或許我的孩子們可以，或許的們的孫輩可以，我，我們今天能站在這里，就歸功于他們的奉獻(xiàn)，渴望和從不動(dòng)搖的愛，歸功于他們一次又一次壓在自己的恐懼和疑惑，艱苦奮斗。所以當(dāng)今我們面對的挑戰(zhàn)似乎艱巨得難以克服，請別忘記開創(chuàng)不可能的奇跡，正是我們國家的歷史，美國人就是這樣，我們的國家就是這么建立起來的。

如果我們的父母先輩可以為了我們而艱苦奮斗，如果他們可以建起摩天大樓，把人類送上月球，如果他們可以用一根按鈕就把世界連接，那是當(dāng)然，我們也可以我們的后代而犧牲自我，努力建設(shè)。如果那么多英勇的軍人可以穿起戎裝上陣，為捍衛(wèi)我們的根本利益犧牲生命！那么當(dāng)然作為這個(gè)民主之國的一份子我們也可以發(fā)揮自己的作用！當(dāng)然我們也可以通過投票，讓我們的呼聲響徹大選之日；如果農(nóng)民和鐵匠都可以從一個(gè)帝國中謀求獨(dú)立，如果移民們可以放下從前的一切來到這里尋求美好的生活；如果婦女們冒著牢獄之災(zāi)也要投票；如果一代人可以打敗大蕭條，成就一番事業(yè)；如果一位年輕的牧師可以用他的正義理想把我們送上平等之巔；如果美國人民為他們的身份而自豪，為他們所愛的人而勇敢的站在講臺(tái)上。那么當(dāng)然，當(dāng)然我們可以給人們平等的機(jī)會(huì)，去實(shí)現(xiàn)自己的美國夢！

因?yàn)楫?dāng)塵埃落定，勝過一切的是這個(gè)國家的故事，一個(gè)希望不死，斗志永存的勵(lì)志傳說，我的故事，奧巴馬的故事，和千千萬萬美國人的故事，也因此成真，今天我不僅是第一夫人，也不僅是代表一個(gè)妻子，每當(dāng)一天的工作結(jié)束，我的身份就只是一個(gè)操心的媽媽，我的女兒仍是我的心頭肉，我世界的中心但今天我不再像四年前般顧慮重重，不再擔(dān)心我和他怎么做才是對孩子們最好的。

親身經(jīng)歷告訴我，如果要想給我的女兒和全天下的孩子創(chuàng)造一個(gè)美好的世界，如果我們想給他們一個(gè)夢想的基礎(chǔ)和一展抱負(fù)的機(jī)遇，如果我們想讓他們相信一切皆有可能，讓他們相信在美國，只要努力就一定能有回報(bào)，那么我們比任何時(shí)候，任何人都更加努力。我們必須再度團(tuán)結(jié)一致，去一起支持肩負(fù)著你我信任，去領(lǐng)導(dǎo)我們前進(jìn)的那個(gè)男人，我的丈夫，我們的總統(tǒng)——奧巴馬！謝謝！
