食物的消化是從口腔開始的,食物在口腔內(nèi)以機械性消化(食物被磨碎)為主,因為食物在口腔內(nèi)停留時間很短,故口腔內(nèi)的消化作用不大。

食物從食道進入胃后,即受到胃壁肌肉的機械性消化和胃液的化學性消化作用,此時,食物中的蛋白質(zhì)被胃液中的胃蛋白酶(在胃酸參與下)初步分解,胃內(nèi)容物變成粥樣的食糜狀態(tài),小量地多次通過幽門向十二指腸推送。食糜由胃進入十二指腸后,開始了小腸內(nèi)的消化。

小腸是消化、吸收的主要場所。食物在小腸內(nèi)受到胰液、膽汁和小腸液的化學性消化以及小腸的機械性消化,各種營養(yǎng)成分逐漸被分解為簡單的可吸收的小分子物質(zhì)在小腸內(nèi)吸收。因此,食物通過小腸后,消化過程已基本完成,只留下難于消化的食物殘渣,從小腸進入大腸。

大腸內(nèi)無消化作用,僅具一定的吸收功能。
