mr.chairman, senator thurmond, members of the committee, my name is anita f.hill, and i am a professor of law at the university of oklahoma.i was born on a farm in okmulgee county, oklahoma, in 1956.i am the youngest of 13 children.i had my early education in okmulgee county.my father, albert hill, is a farmer in that area.my mother's name is irma hill.she is also a farmer and a housewife.my childhood was one of a lot of hard work and not much money, but it was one of solid family affection, as represented by my parents.i was reared in a religious atmosphere in the baptist faith, and i have been a member of the antioch baptist church in tulsa, oklahoma, since 1983.it is a very warm part of my life at the present time.for my undergraduate work, i went to oklahoma state university and graduated from there in 1977.i am attaching to this statement a copy of my resume for further details of my education.i graduated from the university with academic honors and proceeded to the yale law school, where i received my jd degree in 1980.upon graduation from law school, i became a practicing lawyer with the washington, dc, firm of ward, hardraker, and ross.in 1981, i was introduced to now judge thomas by a mutual friend.judge thomas told me that he was anticipating a political appointment, and he asked if i would be interested in working with him.he was, in fact, appointed as assistant secretary of education for civil rights.after he had taken that post, he asked if i would become his assistant, and i accepted that position.in my early period there, i had two major projects.the first was an article i wrote for judge thomas' signature on the education of minority students.the second was the organization of a seminar on high-risk students which was abandoned because judge thomas transferred to the eeoc where he became the chairman of that office.during this period at the department of education, my working relationship with judge thomas was positive.i had a good deal of responsibility and independence.i thought he respected my work and that he trusted my judgment.after approximately three months of working there, he asked me to go out socially with him.what happened next and telling the world about it are the two most difficult things--experiences of my life.it is only after a great deal of agonizing consideration and sleeplenumber--a great number of sleeplenights tha(t i amable to talk of these unpleasant matters to anyone but my close friends.i declined the invitation to go out socially with him and explained to him that i thought it would jeopardize what at the time i considered to be a very good working relationship.i had a normal social life with other men outside of the office.i believed then, as now, that having a social relationship with a person who was supervising my work would be ill-advised.i was very uncomfortable with the idea and told him so.i thought that by saying no and explaining my reasons my employer would abandon his social suggestions.however, to my regret, in the following few weeks, he continued to ask me out on several occasions.he pressed me to justify my reasons for saying no to him.these incidents took place in his office or mine.they were in the form of private conversations which would not have been overheard by anyone else.my working relationship became even more strained when judge thomas began to use work situations to discuse-x.on these occasions, he would call me into his office for reports on education issues and projects, or he might suggest that, because of the time pressures of his schedule, we go to lunch to a government cafeteria.after a brief discussion of work, he would turn the conversation to a discussion of se-xual matters.his conversations were very vivid.he spoke about acts that he had seen in pornographic films involving such matters as women having se-x with animals and films showing group se-x or rape scenes.he talked about pornographic materials depicting individuals with large penises or large breasts involved in various se-x acts.on several occasions, thomas told me graphically of his own se-xual prowess.because i was extremely uncomfortable talking about se-x with him at all and particularly in such a graphic way, i told him that i did not want to talk about these subjects.i would also try to change the subject to education matters or to nonse-xual personal matters such as his background or his beliefs.my efforts to change the subject were rarely successful.throughout the period of these conversations, he also from time to time asked me for social engagements.my reaction to these conversations was to avoid them by eliminating opportunities for us to engage in extended conversations.this was difficult because at the time i was his only assistant at the office of education--or of

是的，幾乎所有的人才都是很缺乏這種機(jī)遇的，機(jī)遇對(duì)我們的重要性就好像一場(chǎng)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)的導(dǎo)火索，只要導(dǎo)線被點(diǎn)燃，我們自然一發(fā)而不可收拾。但是，恰恰相反，一場(chǎng)戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)，從它的導(dǎo)火索被點(diǎn)燃一直到結(jié)束，勝負(fù)總是注定的，機(jī)遇卻不是這樣。你可能因?yàn)橐淮螜C(jī)遇而飛黃騰達(dá)到云端然后掉下來摔死，也可能因?yàn)橐淮螜C(jī)遇屢敗屢戰(zhàn)然后飛黃騰達(dá)，正如老子云：“禍兮福之所倚，福兮禍之所伏”，所以，當(dāng)機(jī)遇來的時(shí)候，請(qǐng)冷靜。當(dāng)然，不管怎樣，它終究會(huì)改變你，改變你的一生。

講完機(jī)遇，再來說說千里馬，可憐的千里馬，如果不是天生就是千里馬，那么就是干活練出來的。對(duì)于后者，如果伯樂發(fā)現(xiàn)不了，那可就太虧了。奮斗了這么久，要什么能力有什么能力，結(jié)果，反到?jīng)]地方施展。這會(huì)是人生最大的悲哀，久旱逢甘露，一滴也沒有。

現(xiàn)代的人和古代的人相比，千里馬就很多了，當(dāng)然也就會(huì)有更多的千里馬郁悶死，為了避免越來越多的人在等在自己的機(jī)遇時(shí)變得碌碌，我們應(yīng)該正視自己的奮斗的結(jié)果，努力把自己推出去讓更多的人認(rèn)識(shí)到自己的能力。這也就是為什么現(xiàn)在人總是推銷自己的原因之一。不用擔(dān)心自己是不是人才，真的伯樂會(huì)認(rèn)出來的。

不管怎樣，機(jī)遇來了，你準(zhǔn)備好了嗎?如果沒有自己的奮斗，再好的機(jī)遇也不可能讓一個(gè)平庸的人成為奧運(yùn)冠軍。所以，平凡可以，我們不可以平庸。

奮斗，是一個(gè)不變得話題，機(jī)遇來了，需要奮斗，機(jī)遇走了，更需要奮斗。一個(gè)得不到機(jī)遇的人，不會(huì)因?yàn)樗粖^斗而改變現(xiàn)狀，而一個(gè)得到機(jī)遇的人，不會(huì)因?yàn)樗粖^斗而比那些奮斗的人過得更好。

奮斗是和機(jī)遇相輔相承的，但是，如果真的始終得不到機(jī)遇怎么辦?

很簡(jiǎn)單，用自己的奮斗去創(chuàng)造屬于自己的機(jī)遇。伯樂既然沒有，我們自己來做。當(dāng)我們掌握的足夠的技能，擁有了足夠的知識(shí)，我們就可以自己創(chuàng)造自己的機(jī)遇了。

說了很多，歸根結(jié)底，沒有奮斗就沒有機(jī)遇，沒有機(jī)遇，我們更要奮斗。謝謝！

金秋送爽，在九月嫵媚的陽光下，又一批新鮮血液注入我們的校園——20**屆新同學(xué)，歡迎你們加入xxx學(xué)院這個(gè)溫馨的大家庭!就像兩年前我剛踏入校園時(shí)一樣，此時(shí)此刻你們的心情一定非常激動(dòng)。是的，因?yàn)槟銈兗磳⑻と氲氖且粋€(gè)繁花似錦的校園，一個(gè)令人眷戀的故地，一片生生不息、蓬勃向上的熱土。我僅代表我院學(xué)生會(huì)全體成員和我院全體學(xué)生向你表示由忠的祝賀和熱烈的歡迎!

作為你們的學(xué)長(zhǎng)，我要告訴你們：經(jīng)過短暫的休整，充盈激情、意氣風(fēng)發(fā)的你們又將開始新的征途。大學(xué)是人生的重要階段，也人生的美好階段，一種特有的校園文化，會(huì)使你們從幼稚走向成熟，從幻想走向理想。我想這也是每位同學(xué)所期待和追求的。

萬丈高樓從地起，大學(xué)階段的學(xué)習(xí)是高層次的學(xué)習(xí)，有著自身特點(diǎn)和規(guī)律，這就要求我們踏踏實(shí)實(shí)地從一點(diǎn)一滴做起：首先要做好第一個(gè)自我設(shè)計(jì)，確定大學(xué)時(shí)代的目標(biāo)，盡快調(diào)整心態(tài)，為自己的大學(xué)生活規(guī)劃出完美的藍(lán)圖，瞄準(zhǔn)目標(biāo)鍥而不舍地追求。其次是針對(duì)所學(xué)專業(yè)，選定好大學(xué)學(xué)習(xí)的努力方向。

專業(yè)是學(xué)習(xí)的基石，在學(xué)好相關(guān)專業(yè)基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)的前提下，進(jìn)而掌握求取知識(shí)的方法，培養(yǎng)、鍛煉自己獨(dú)立的科學(xué)思維能力。再次是從生活中的每一件小事做起，確立好大學(xué)的起步點(diǎn)，勿以小而不為，小事決定成敗。要聽好第一堂課，做好第一次作業(yè)，學(xué)好第一門課程。在小事中積累成長(zhǎng)，渡過大學(xué)這段青春無悔的美好歲月。

同時(shí)也希望你們能提前做好準(zhǔn)備，用自信來迎接大學(xué)生活的新起點(diǎn)。當(dāng)然剛跨進(jìn)大學(xué)校門時(shí)，懵懂的我也曾和現(xiàn)在的你們一樣，都會(huì)問自己這樣兩個(gè)問題：“我來這兒做什么?”“我將成為一個(gè)什么樣的人?”是的，人生猶如夜航船，一個(gè)個(gè)始終警省自己的問題就是一座座塔基，而我們的回答就是點(diǎn)亮自己的燈塔。

當(dāng)思索這個(gè)問題時(shí)，我們正在為今后三年的大學(xué)生活或者更加長(zhǎng)遠(yuǎn)的未來樹立一座燈塔，盡管前路漫漫，航燈迷爍，但一步步走來的我們將不斷修正航向，向著那個(gè)人生的坐標(biāo)原點(diǎn)前進(jìn)。我堅(jiān)信只要我們堅(jiān)定信念，奮力拼搏我們一定會(huì)取得成功，收獲我們想要的果實(shí)。作為你們的新朋友和學(xué)長(zhǎng)的我，又不得不提醒你們：大學(xué)的校園生活并不像有的人想象中那般輕松自在和無拘無束。你們面對(duì)將是一段獨(dú)立于父母依賴于同學(xué)的新生活。
