We eat to live,not live to eat.

Summary for teaching on Primary English of
Grade six in the First Semester of 2006
July 2, 2006
Time flies.I have sent-off a passel of students who will enter the middle school again. They have been
strongly impressed on my memory. They are clever and lovely. What they have left me is more experiences that will lead me to teach better.Mental education
Mental education is put the first in all education.Because a person’s mind can restrict his behavior, we educate the students not only the knowledge but also moral character.Cooperating with the teacher in charge of the class and their parents, we can find out and resolve problems in time. Therefore, we should become the in-between of the students. But we should balance the degree that we cannot lose the dignity and make the students feel the teacher’s love to them.Of course, pay attention to the spirit of cooperation.II、Never abandoning any students
We, as teachers, like the students who are clever, quick-mind, like learning, listen to the teachers. But the
students, who have potential and are naughty and often express the bad actions, need more the teacher’s concerns and love.1.Self-questioning
A thing that the potential students can work hard has educated me.When I found many students cannot gain good achievement, I felt disappointed, but at the same time I found some students who can express commonly, then I gave them to complement English after school.I recognized that some students did not want to study, because they don’t understand how to study. All the knowledge falling to them as mountains, they lost their confidence to learn. They opened their English books as illiteracy. They could know nothing except the beautiful pictures. But they could master reading according the spelling of words.Reading is crucial for the students and the first prerequisite in learning English. When I lead them to read some lessons, they could grasp the skills to read English.Later they could read actively before me and express out their confidence and the happiness of success.Their conduct aroused me to teach the other students
who worse than the students who I taught just now and I recognized that I could never quit any students.2.Encouraging the students frequently
The students who are potential need more
encouragement. When students can’t remember the words or forget the words that
(2)
they just remembered. As a teacher, I must encourage them and tell them that it is normal. We must review frequently to consolidate it from forgetting.Having
confidence, they can think about English is not difficult. However, the motivation is their degree of grasping English. The students are not easy to give up studying with grasping some English knowledge, and they are interested in English gradually.III、Teaching methods
Reading is necessary for the students who can not capture the sounds of phonemes.More reading helps students master the techniques of studying English, enhance the memory of English vocabulary, train their hearing. The whole class reads loudly can facilitate to the students whose achievements are secondary. But
the potential students should be coached singly, because their consciousness is poor.At first, it is
necessary for the teacher to lead and supervise them into the orbit of learning. The pronouncing method should be reminded according to the positive
transference of pronunciation between the Chinese Pinyin and the English letters.IV、Cooperation
The teachers in charge of the subject don’t have the prestige of the teachers who are in charge of the class, so all teachers must cooperate with one another. And at the end of the term the marks of the subjects by remembering can be lifted quickly. Therefore, the school and all the teachers should adjust the management of the subjects and arrange the time with reason. Moreover, the students of our school are clever, but their capacity of abiding discipline is thin. Thus we should “enforce” them to learn carefully at first in order to lose my hands to make them learn independently. In short, I will make my efforts to teach the students based on my experiences and learn from the teachers to enhance myself.
I shall be speaking today about
Before we start our presentation, let's take a brief look at
If you give a diet to laboratory animalit’s very common for animals to gain a good bit of weight when given access to this diet.Even if they’re given healthy food at the same time, they’ll tend to ignore the healthy food and eat a diet like this. And there are two properties of this diet that help promote overeating and obesity in laboratory animals. What would you say the two features are?Sugar and fat.Sugar is what people usually guess first and that’s correct, fat is number two, so you guys are good so far.Who can guess what the third might be? Salt is a good guess, but that’s not the answer. But why would a lab animal seek out a diet, become very overweight, become nutritionally deficient in some things because it’s not eating the healthy foods to the extent that it becomes unhealthy? The fact is those lab animals have a hard-wired preference for foods that are high in fat and high in sugar, primarily because of the energy density that those foods bring to one, the seeking out fat and sugar is a highly evolved, adaptive evolutionary trait of animals and human.Today we’re going to talk the two big ones that people are usually concerned with: carbohydrates and fat.Let’s start with carbohydrates.Sugars, in other words. They’re used by the body for pretty immediate energy. There are three classes of sugar: monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides. It’s not so important that you know which sugars fall under each of these categories, but it is important to know that there are different categories of sugars.Under the monosaccharides, glucose, fructose and galactose are the sugars.Disaccharides, where you have several sugars paired together, are maltose, sucrose, and lactose. Then the polysaccharides are the complex carbohydrates, and that’s starch, glycogen, and cellulose. If you look at sources of these different carbohydrates, the glucose comes from fruit. That’s not the only place but that’s a primary source of it.You see the lactose of course from milk, and then you get down to the celluloseand starches, cereals and vegetables become the primary source of these. Are we eating too much or too little of these different classes of sugars? Well, as you might guess, we eat too much of the simple sugars and the disaccharide sugars and we eat too little of the complex carbohydrates. So if you followed a diet where you ate less junk food and ate more fruits and vegetables, for example, just those two little rules you would help shift around this balance of sugars in a way that would benefit health. There’s sugar in a lot of foods where you don’t expect it.For example: peanut butter. Here’s a list of ingredients from skippy peanut butter and you see that sugar is the second most common ingredient. Here’s another example.Beef stew, you wouldn’t necessarily expect to find sugar in beef stew but it’s there. Now it’s down the list of ingredients, it’s actually toward the end, but if you look at the marketing of this and look at the can it says, there’s fresh potatoes and carrots, but actually there’s more sugar in this than there is carrots.Okay, let’s talk about fat for a moment.Fat has twice the calories per unit weight as protein and carbohydrate. So it’s a very efficient way of securing energy. But if one is not deprived of calories, then having fat my not be so helpful. There are different kinds of fat that have different impacts on health.Several concepts that are relevant in the discussion of fat: cholesterol, saturation, and trans fat.First of all, cholesterol. There are different kinds of cholesterol, HDL and LDL.It was a major discovery when scientists in the last century found that HDL is good and LDL is bad, the HDL, that’s protective against things like heart disease and you want to have a higher level of that and a lower level of HDL.The saturation is interesting. You hear a lot about saturated fat and unsaturated fat.As you know, unsaturated fat is healthy and you want to have this in your diet.Trans fats have become a really interesting issue. There are groups of people who have studied the impact of trans fats on health for a number of years. They have found that trans fats were having a very negative impact on health. What are trans fats? They’re unsaturated fatty acids that get formed when foods are partially hydrogenated. When you see that partially hydrogenated oils on an ingredient list, that means there’s trans fat.Why would companies do this? Why would the food industry want to introduce trans fat in the first place? Well, it changes the food in ways that are commercially appealing for the industry. It gives foods a longer shelf life. They tend to stay stable during deep frying and then the palatability goes up and the foods taste better.Getting back to the concept that there are good and bad fats, if we look at the left hand side here, is a table or a graphic showing the fats that tend to have beneficial impacts on health. You have the unsaturated fat.The seafood, olive oils and some nuts are high in the unsaturated fats.So these kinds of rats are not necessarily bad.The bad fats look like this, and those are the saturated fats and the trans fat. These bad fats raise the LDL levels, that’s not good for you.And they lower HDL.The trans fats that we mentioned before that you can see listed over here from margarine, shortenings, deep fried foods, a lot of fast foods and baked goods have a negative impact on health as well.So it’s important for the public health to change the portioning of fat so you move from bad to the better fats in the diets.

Eat For Convenience And Hobby
“Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you who you are.” Brillat-Savarin has showed his views of eating. And I’m totally agree to him, everything done by someone can be related to his/her personality, eating habits included.Eating is so interesting a thing that I would like to explore what the main eating habits of college students. To be honest, after my observation and personal experience , eating habits of college students can be summarized as two words: convenience and hobby. In the college, takeout menus are of great significance. As we all know, in addition to the classroom, most of students’ time is spent in the bedroom, for which they think it is too troublesome to go out for food for a special purpose. Then, takeout menus work because of it’s convenience.Though takeout above the menus have been tasted for many times, they enjoy the life that a ring call can bring a good dinner or supper. At the mention of takeout menus, the taste is also important, without doubt, to attract the students. So, elicit another keyword: hobby, that is to say the students like the tasty food above the menu.Mark Twin has said,“Part of the secret of success in life is to eat what you like and let the food fight it out inside.” It is quite fun , but eating the food that you like is indeed a blessed thing. In that way, they have
something to say,“The food in the canteen is not fit to my taste, I do not like that.”So, they just pick what their favorite to enjoy.Food stalls and sellers have great business as a result.College students’ eating habits are not very satisfactory, they do not have regular eating habits as well except those two problems above.I just feel like calling attention to those students who has bad eating habits, “One can not think well, love well, sleep well if one has not dined well.”
Wish all of us good eating habits!
