個人陳述是在申請過程中按照學(xué)校要求來寫一篇有關(guān)申請人過去背景，目前成就和未來目標(biāo)的文章。一篇成的個人陳述應(yīng)不但語言流暢，且文章邏輯嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)，層次分明，能充分顯示申請人的才華并抓住審閱人的注意力。幾乎所有學(xué)校都要求提交個人陳述。個人陳述也有不同的名稱，如Personal statement ,statements of purpose ,academic statement ,study plan,plans for study, academic objectives,educational goals,letter of interests 等。個人陳述應(yīng)當(dāng)包含以

下內(nèi)容：

（一）申請者的學(xué)術(shù)或?qū)I(yè)興趣及背景；

（二）欲研究的方向；

（三）未來的職業(yè)目標(biāo)。

如果個人陳述寫作得當(dāng)，可以很大程度地提高申請者獲得錄取和獎學(xué)金的幾率。這對申請者來說是一個絕好的機(jī)會?？上У氖呛芏嗌暾堈邔OEFL、GRE可謂嘔心瀝血，而對個人陳述往往一蹴而就，敷衍了事，內(nèi)容貧乏、語法錯誤連篇。而西方的大學(xué)并不單是通過傳統(tǒng)的考試來考評其申請者的資格，這并不是說他們的錄取標(biāo)準(zhǔn)不嚴(yán)格。外國教授在決定您是否正是他們想要的人時，首先希望聽一聽您對于您自己作何評價。當(dāng)您通過申請文書來介紹您自己時，您會發(fā)現(xiàn)所面臨的機(jī)遇和挑戰(zhàn)同樣之大。

要寫出成的申請文書僅僅有那些適用于任何類型寫作的基本寫作技巧（清晰、簡潔）是遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)不夠的。一篇好的申請文書要求申請人能夠用一種與其他申請人完全不同方式，巧妙地展現(xiàn)自己的獨(dú)特個性和經(jīng)驗。這是一件要求比較高，通常非常繁累的工作。這不僅僅對中國人如此，以英語為母語的人在此類寫作時也會感到的十分頭疼，但是我們中國人還需克服語言的障礙。然而，您應(yīng)該認(rèn)為您不但可以完成這一工作，而且不會不比他們差。當(dāng)您真正開始以后，您會發(fā)現(xiàn)您所有的努力都會有所回報。

試著這樣來做：

1．分析您的個性和經(jīng)歷。

2．區(qū)分、組織和取舍您的特質(zhì)、經(jīng)歷、和成就來滿足學(xué)校錄取的要求和標(biāo)準(zhǔn)。

3．把所有這些編排好的訊息歸納一個敘述性的結(jié)構(gòu)中。

4．草擬出一篇具有說服力能突出您的特質(zhì)的短文來。只要足夠深入地探索了您的人生經(jīng)歷和內(nèi)心世界，您會發(fā)現(xiàn)您很特別，非常的特別，以您自己的方式。寫作一系列申請文書的過程是一個自我審視的過程。成的申請者注重這樣一種策略，即致力于把自己與那些有著差不多的GPA、TOEFL/GRE成績、成就、獎勵或人生經(jīng)歷的人區(qū)別開來。雖然其他申請者可以清楚有效地寫作，聰明的申請者

則通過有目的地使自己與其他人區(qū)分開來從而在競爭中勝出。這正是創(chuàng)造性、目的性和動人的寫作發(fā)揮作用之處。

如何寫推薦信

推薦信的份量直接關(guān)系到能否出國留學(xué)，能否獲得獎學(xué)金等，作為對外聯(lián)系的材料，是其中一份較為重要的文件。推薦信的目的是通過國內(nèi)專家向?qū)Ψ浇榻B申請人的工作、學(xué)習(xí)和專業(yè)方向等情況。在出國申請是否成的諸多要素中，有力的推薦信是錄取的重要條件之一，其份量僅次于于本科成績單和標(biāo)準(zhǔn)化考試（GRE、GMAT、TOEFL）成績。

多數(shù)學(xué)校都要求申請人提交兩封到三封的推薦信，由教授、系主任或工作主

管直接寄給指定的單位。

◆ 選擇推薦人

推薦信是了解申請人的重要依據(jù)，在研究生課程中尤其如此。申請人可以選擇現(xiàn)在或以前的老師、教授或雇主。推薦人必須熟悉學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)情況，了解學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)目的是否明確，在學(xué)術(shù)上是否有前途，以及學(xué)生的適應(yīng)能力、創(chuàng)造能力、品行和特長。

書寫推薦信的最理想的人選是一封由系主任寫，一封由專業(yè)課教授寫，一封由自己的導(dǎo)師寫。不過，對方若無規(guī)定，則除了自己的親屬之外，任何人皆可為推薦人。推薦人一般應(yīng)具備高級技術(shù)職稱，如教授、副教授、研究員、副研究員等。如果推薦人或者曾經(jīng)在該校講過學(xué)，那么這樣的推薦人寫的推薦信就具有很

強(qiáng)的效力了。

◆ 推薦信的內(nèi)容

推薦信一般應(yīng)包括下列內(nèi)容：

1．被推薦人的基本情況介紹。側(cè)重于個人的畢業(yè)時間、學(xué)校、所獲學(xué)位以及個人的專業(yè)經(jīng)歷。

2．推薦人對被推薦人的基本評價。側(cè)重于被推薦人的專業(yè)基礎(chǔ)、個性、特點(diǎn)、工作態(tài)度和在學(xué)術(shù)上的前途估計。若是推薦研究生，推薦人還需進(jìn)一步說明其深造學(xué)習(xí)的基礎(chǔ)和當(dāng)前所具備的研究能力。顯然，恰如其分地評價被推薦人的基礎(chǔ)、能力和前途，比言過其實的贊譽(yù)更令人情服，更具有實際意義。

3．推薦人可以著重介紹被推薦人曾經(jīng)獲得的獎勵，發(fā)表過的論文，參加過的重要學(xué)術(shù)會議，以及曾在學(xué)生組織或?qū)W術(shù)團(tuán)體中的任職等來支持自己的評價。

4．推薦人還必須清楚地表明被推薦人留學(xué)的身份是研究生還是訪問學(xué)者，專業(yè)領(lǐng)

域和研究方向是什么。

如果大學(xué)提供了現(xiàn)成的推薦表格，則必須按這類表格認(rèn)真逐項填寫。推薦表格中

一般有學(xué)生綜合評估的一項，即要求推薦人說明該生在所教的學(xué)生中應(yīng)列為前5%，10%，或25%等。這種評估是指教授的個人評價，可以稍高一點(diǎn)。另外，推薦表格上常有許多難以填寫的項目，遇到這種情形可填”I don’t know”，亦不致

對該生的評價有何嚴(yán)重影響。

推薦信尾必須有推薦人的親筆簽名，最好直接由推薦人寄給學(xué)校招生辦官員或申請就讀學(xué)校的系主任。如果由被推薦人寄送，可將推薦信裝入信封內(nèi)封好后

由推薦人在信封口處親筆簽名以示保密。信封正面注明“A Letter Of

Recommendation”，表明這是一封推薦信。

如何寫簡歷

申請美國院校入學(xué)和獎學(xué)金資助，要準(zhǔn)備一份合適的個人簡歷。個人簡歷的目的是讓對方清晰地了解申請者的全面情況，應(yīng)力求在真實、全面、簡明的基礎(chǔ)上準(zhǔn)確地反映自己受教育和從事專業(yè)工作的經(jīng)歷，特別是近年來的工作方向、研

究興趣及成果。

個人簡歷主要包括以下內(nèi)容：

1．姓名。力求與各種學(xué)歷證明的姓名相同，如有更名的情況，務(wù)必在公證時予以

聲明，并附上公證書。

2．性別。

3．出生年月日及地點(diǎn)。力求與各類學(xué)歷證明的出生年月日一致，出生地點(diǎn)寫明國

別和省別。

4．國籍。

5．婚否。應(yīng)分為未婚、已婚、喪偶、獨(dú)身四種狀況。

6．現(xiàn)在工作單位及詳細(xì)通信地址。

7．個人受教育經(jīng)歷。包括大學(xué)、碩士研究生階段的在讀時間，所在大學(xué)的名稱、專業(yè)和所獲學(xué)位；參加工作后的受教育經(jīng)歷，主要是指脫產(chǎn)接受專門的進(jìn)修、培

訓(xùn)或?qū)W習(xí)。

8．個人從事專業(yè)的經(jīng)歷。填寫專業(yè)經(jīng)歷應(yīng)力求抓住重點(diǎn)，突出研究方向；擔(dān)任教學(xué)工作的可列出主講、助講的課程名稱；擔(dān)任研究工作的可列出參加各個研究項

目的課題名稱。

9．有何著作、論文或研究成果。個人的論文、著作和研究成果要分門別類列出，并一定要與個人專業(yè)經(jīng)歷相一致。所列著作要注明名稱、出版年月、出版單位。所列論文要注明論文題目，刊載的雜志或期刊名稱、期號、語種；對于在學(xué)術(shù)會議上發(fā)表的文章還要注明學(xué)術(shù)會議的名稱、召開的時間和地點(diǎn)等等。如果其中有

被外國學(xué)者評論過的，最好附上刊載評論文章的雜志名稱及時間。

10．外語水平。注明參加TOEFL、GRE等考試時間、地點(diǎn)及成績。若申請者掌握多

門外語，則要一一注明語種并說明熟練程度。

11．參加何種學(xué)術(shù)團(tuán)體，得到何種榮譽(yù)。學(xué)術(shù)團(tuán)體一般應(yīng)是省、市或行業(yè)一級以上的專業(yè)學(xué)術(shù)團(tuán)體，在學(xué)術(shù)團(tuán)體中所擔(dān)任職務(wù)可予以注明：榮譽(yù)主要是指在專業(yè)、技術(shù)研究方面獲得的獎勵和榮譽(yù)，要注明獲獎名稱、頒獎時間和頒獎單位。

個人陳述
