PS不是簡歷的詳細(xì)補(bǔ)充，許多信息可以通過其它文件展示，(如學(xué)習(xí)成績等)。美國大學(xué)的招生人員曾談到：在留學(xué)申請旺季時，面對堆堆積如山的文件，一般他們審查一個PS的時間只有2，3分鐘，那種長篇大論類的PS只能讓人心生厭煩。

2、PS必須緊扣所要申請那個專業(yè)的主題寫，主線要明確，不要盲目的個性化

生矛盾。后來我根據(jù)每個人情況，讓性格外向，善于人交際的人做外聯(lián)及工作將協(xié)調(diào)溝通的工作;讓善于思考，思維活躍，勇于創(chuàng)新的人做各項(xiàng)工作的籌備及策劃工作;讓有遠(yuǎn)見，有凝聚力的人做整個工作的進(jìn)度安排，及分配各項(xiàng)任務(wù)。這樣安排的結(jié)果是系統(tǒng)發(fā)揮了最佳效率。

這樣既突出了個性，又緊扣申請CS專業(yè)應(yīng)具有的嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)?shù)南到y(tǒng)思維能力這一重要素質(zhì)體現(xiàn)了出來。

3、結(jié)構(gòu)簡單，銜接緊密，主線明確，便于理解

“Simple is the best ”請記住，招生人員每天要讀大量的申請資料，只有那種簡單有力重點(diǎn)突出的的文章才能打動招生人員。留學(xué)文書其實(shí)是您個人的廣告，您仔細(xì)想想，給您留下深刻印象的廣告哪個不是簡明而有力的?中國申請人往往傾向于把自己的優(yōu)點(diǎn)不分主次全都告訴招生人員，導(dǎo)致的結(jié)果就是招生人員對你的整體印象的模糊。筆者認(rèn)為，PS中什么都是重點(diǎn)，就等于沒有重點(diǎn)。

4、精心安排PS和其它文件的關(guān)系

如上所述，PS，推薦信，簡歷等文件構(gòu)成一整套申請文件系統(tǒng)，既需要相互應(yīng)證，也需要這些文件各有側(cè)重點(diǎn)。因此在寫作這些文件之前必須總體構(gòu)思安排文章的布局和每個文件突出的重點(diǎn)。許多申請人將本該由簡歷或推薦信突出的內(nèi)容放在PS中，這樣不但造成信息的無效重復(fù)，同時弱化了PS應(yīng)起的作用。

5、語言表達(dá)層面上一定要用地道的英語

中國人自己讀得很順的英語往往是按中文的語言邏輯寫成的“中

式英語”,不但會大大削弱您想表達(dá)的意思,產(chǎn)生誤解,而且會讓招生人員看起來很枯燥無味(DULL).有些申請人，特別是考過GRE的申請人，用詞句式過于夸張，古怪，不符合英語的思維習(xí)慣和文風(fēng)。這種中國學(xué)院英語，其實(shí)經(jīng)常讓外國教授難以理解或是看后笑得前仰后合。完成的文件最好由母語人士進(jìn)行修改。
