My Experience in Learning English

Learning a foreign language was one of the most difficult yet most rewarding experiences of my life.Although at times, learning a language was frustrating, it was well worth the effort.My experience with a foreign language began in junior middle school, when I took my first English class.I had a kind and patient teacher who often praised all of the students.Because of this positive method, I eagerly answered all the questions I could, never worrying much about making mistakes.I was at the top of my class for two years.When I went to senior middle school, I was eager to continue studying English;however, my experience in senior school was very different from before.While my former teacher had been patient with all the students, my new teacher quickly punished those who gave incorrect answers.Whenever we answered incorrectly, she pointed a long stick at us and, shaking it up and down, shouted, “No!No!No!” It didn’t take me long to lose my eagerness to answer questions.Not only did I lose my joy in answering questions, but also I totally lost my desire to say anything at all in English.However, that state didn’t last long.When I went to college, I learned that all students were required to take an English course.Unlike my senior middle school teacher, my college English teachers were patient and kind, and none of them carded long, pointed sticks!However, the situation was far from perfect.As our classes were very large, I was only able to answer a couple of questions in each class period.Also, after a few weeks of classes, I noticed there were many students who spoke much better than I did.I began to feel frightened.So once again, although for different reasons, I was afraid to speak.It seemed my English was going to stay at the same level forever.The Importance of Setting Goals

Why is setting goals important? Because goals can help you do, be and experience everything you want in life.Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow you to make your life happen.Successful and happy people have a vision of how their life should be and they set lots of goals to help them reach their vision.By setting goals you are taking control of your life.It’s like having a map to show you where you want to go.Think of it this way.There are two drivers.One has a destination in mind(her goal)which is laid out for her on a map.She can drive straight there without any wasted time or wrong turns.The other driver has no goal or destination or map.She starts off at the same time from the same place as the first driver, but she drives aimlessly around, never getting anywhere, just using up gas and oil.Which driver do you want to be?

Winners in life set goals and follow through on them.Winners decide what they want in life and then get there by making plans and setting goals.Unsuccessful people just let life happen by accident.Goals aren’t difficult to set—and they aren’t difficult to reach.It’s up to you to find out what your goals, ideals and visions really are.You are the one who must decide what to pursue and in what direction to aim your life.Research tells us that when we write a goal down, we are more likely to achieve it.Written goals can be reviewed regularly, and have more power.Like a contract with yourself, they are harder to neglect to forget.Also when you write your goals in a particular fashion, you are able to stimulate your subconscious to be continuously alert to situation that will further your goal.Key Factors to Success

No adult, everyone wishes to be successful in life.In discussing this, three fundamental principles should be born in mind: diligence, devotion, and persistence.The first key factor to success is diligence, which simply means no waste of time.Diligence can help us remind ignorance, which simply means no waste of time.Diligence can help us remove ignorance and overcome difficulties.Diligence can make a fool wise, and a poor man rich.If we idle away our time now, our future life will be a failure.If we are diligent now, we will surely be successful in future.Devotion, which means concentration of our mind and effect in doing things, is another key factor to success.Whatever job we are doing, we must love it and do it whole-heartedly.Only when we set our minds on the job can we do it well.Furthermore, perseverance or a strong will, is also necessary in order to make success a certainty.If we study or work day after day there is nothing that cannot be achieved.Without a strong will, on the other hand, we are likely to give up when we are confronted with some difficulties.To conclude, all great men achieve success through diligence, devotion, and perseverance.Just as the famous English saying goes, “ No pains, No gains.”

Pain Past Is Pleasure

That was the situation until a couple of years later, when I was offered an opportunity to study English through an online course.The communication medium was a computer, phone line, and modem.I soon got access to the necessary equipment, learned the technology from a friend and participated in the virtual classroom 5 to 7 days a week.Online learning is not easier than regular classroom study;it requires much time, commitment and discipline to keep up with the flow of the course.I worked hard to meet the minimum standards set by the course and to complete assignments on time.I practiced all the time.I carried a little dictionary with me everywhere I went, as well, as a notebook in which I listed any new words I heard.I made many, sometimes embarrassing, mistakes.Once in a while I cried with frustration, and sometimes I felt like giving up.But I didn’t feel intimidated by students who spoke faster than I did because I took all the time I needed to think out my ideas and write a reply before posting it on the screen.Then, one day I realized I could understand just about everything I came across, and most importantly, I could “say” anything I wanted to in English.Although I still made many mistakes and was continually learning, I had finally reaped the benefits of all that hard work.Learning a foreign language has been a most trying experience for me, but one that I wouldn’t trade for anything.Not only did learning another language teach me the value of hard work, but it also gave me insights into another culture, and my mind was opened to new ways of seeing things.The most wonderful result of having learned a foreign language was that I could communicate with many more people than before.Talking with people is one of my favorite activities, so being able to speak a new language lets me meet new people, participate in conversations, and form new, unforgettable friendships.Now that I speak a foreign language, instead of staring into space when English is being spoken, I can participate and make friends.I am able to reach out to others and bridge the gap between my language and culture and theirs.June 15,2002

【簡(jiǎn)歷以及其他準(zhǔn)備的材料】最后有照片 我覺(jué)得簡(jiǎn)歷是個(gè)技術(shù)活，要涵蓋全面吸引面試?yán)蠋熍d趣還要讓面試?yán)蠋熢谔貏e短的時(shí)間里看完。后來(lái)在網(wǎng)上看到做立方體簡(jiǎn)歷，覺(jué)得這個(gè)想法特別好特別新穎，所以做的就是立方體簡(jiǎn)歷。每一個(gè)面我只寫了一個(gè)詞語(yǔ)或短語(yǔ),有六個(gè)特點(diǎn)愛好，領(lǐng)導(dǎo)才能，獨(dú)立，活潑，創(chuàng)造力，夢(mèng)想（僅供參考，應(yīng)根據(jù)自己的特點(diǎn)來(lái)）。因?yàn)槲蚁矚g并且擅長(zhǎng)畫畫，所以畫了花邊，做得很精致。做簡(jiǎn)歷的時(shí)候一定要精煉，吸引他們的眼球，可以先去查一查對(duì)口學(xué)校的校訓(xùn)之類的，讓自己的特點(diǎn)更對(duì)那所學(xué)校的胃口。

【我的面試過(guò)程】

等待是最難熬的，我坐在外面緊張得手腳一直不停的出汗，在前面一位同學(xué)出來(lái)后絕對(duì)不要自己敲門進(jìn)去，那樣很不禮貌，里面的老師需要時(shí)間商討是否要錄取前面的同學(xué)，他們商討好之后會(huì)自己出來(lái)叫你。新方老師很親切，叫我的時(shí)候省去了我的姓直接叫的后面兩個(gè)字。

一進(jìn)門就鞠了一躬，向老師問(wèn)好，然后他們就叫我坐下。之后我拿出我的正方體簡(jiǎn)介開始介紹。因?yàn)檎襟w分六個(gè)點(diǎn)，每一個(gè)都抓住了他們想要聽的點(diǎn)，所以自我介紹較為順利，中間被打斷的次數(shù)很少，只是在他們感興趣的是上面細(xì)問(wèn)了一下，都不太重要。最后我說(shuō)我的夢(mèng)想是做一名建筑師就讀于NUS，然后他們就開始問(wèn)問(wèn)題了。Q：你對(duì)建筑行業(yè)了解多少？ A：不多

我有點(diǎn)摸不著頭腦。不過(guò)現(xiàn)在想起來(lái)，面試氣氛十分活躍，挺好的。面試的時(shí)候就是要注意有禮貌，有自信，有精神，他們不喜歡畏畏縮縮的學(xué)生，所以進(jìn)門和出門的時(shí)候都要昂首挺胸。在自我介紹的時(shí)候要做到有條理，可以分成幾個(gè)特點(diǎn)在注意闡述，闡述的時(shí)候盡量簡(jiǎn)潔，3、4句話即可。一定要表明自己想要留在新加坡讀大學(xué)、工作，應(yīng)為這個(gè)項(xiàng)目就是想挖掘人才到新加坡，為新加坡服務(wù)。對(duì)自己的未來(lái)要有明確的規(guī)劃，要讀什么大學(xué)，做什么職業(yè)。

一、指導(dǎo)思想

以新課程理念為指導(dǎo)，抓教風(fēng)學(xué)風(fēng)，調(diào)動(dòng)師生的積極性；強(qiáng)化教學(xué)管理，不斷探索優(yōu)化課堂教學(xué)的有效途徑和方法，積極調(diào)動(dòng)一切有利因素，抓好我校2012年六年級(jí)升學(xué)考試備考工作，力爭(zhēng)我校2012年六年級(jí)升學(xué)考試成績(jī)比上學(xué)期有大幅度提升。

二、目標(biāo)任務(wù)

在本小學(xué)畢業(yè)考試中，綜合成績(jī)力爭(zhēng)比上學(xué)期有大幅度提升。

三、備考措施

(一)成立備考工作領(lǐng)導(dǎo)小組

組長(zhǎng)：李小宇

成員：六年級(jí)全體師生

（1）制定考備考計(jì)劃，研究、指導(dǎo)、決定六年級(jí)備考的總體工作和思路、措施。

第二階段（5月11日—6月10日）本階段要求師生認(rèn)真扎實(shí)地把所考知識(shí)分類全面復(fù)習(xí)一遍，每一個(gè)知識(shí)點(diǎn)都必須純熟、吃透，掌握基本知識(shí)，形成基本技能。

第三階段（6月11日—考試前），本階段以以精講帶練，以練形成能力，特別是培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的分析、解決問(wèn)題的能力、應(yīng)變能力，達(dá)到“舉一反三”、“觸類旁通”的要求。通過(guò)綜合訓(xùn)練，提高學(xué)生的適應(yīng)能力，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的應(yīng)考能力。

（三）備考工作要求

1、制定制度，落實(shí)責(zé)任，嚴(yán)格獎(jiǎng)懲。將考試成績(jī)與評(píng)優(yōu)、評(píng)模，考核，績(jī)效工資發(fā)放，學(xué)校人事流動(dòng)掛鉤。

2、突出教師的主導(dǎo)地位。

（1）、研究新課程標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和教材；研究近年考試題；明確考試方向、范圍、重點(diǎn)。

（2）、制定好復(fù)習(xí)計(jì)劃。復(fù)習(xí)計(jì)劃包括：復(fù)習(xí)的內(nèi)容、重點(diǎn)復(fù)習(xí)的知識(shí)點(diǎn)、復(fù)習(xí)措施、各階段復(fù)習(xí)時(shí)間安排（含月日）、各階段復(fù)習(xí)的內(nèi)容（含主要題型）、綜合測(cè)試及補(bǔ)救練習(xí)的時(shí)間安排、模擬考試時(shí)間安排。

（3）、精心備好復(fù)習(xí)課，科學(xué)組織復(fù)習(xí)課的教學(xué)，增加課堂活力，鼓舞學(xué)生信心使學(xué)生學(xué)得快樂(lè)，課堂有效、高效。

4、有目的的抓好培優(yōu)扶困工作，促進(jìn)三類學(xué)生各科平衡發(fā)展。做好質(zhì)量監(jiān)測(cè)工作，留意三類學(xué)生（特優(yōu)、優(yōu)秀、合格）的變化情況。

（4）、認(rèn)真做好“綜合檢測(cè)”分析，根據(jù)學(xué)生情況及時(shí)調(diào)整備考教學(xué)進(jìn)度或思路。

（5）、合理把握復(fù)習(xí)進(jìn)度，注意協(xié)調(diào)小復(fù)習(xí)與總復(fù)習(xí)的關(guān)系，分散難度，穩(wěn)扎穩(wěn)打；有針對(duì)性的做好專題復(fù)習(xí)規(guī)劃，各個(gè)突破復(fù)習(xí)的重點(diǎn)。

（6）、在復(fù)習(xí)課中除了鞏固學(xué)生的知識(shí)提高技能外，還注意訓(xùn)練學(xué)生良好的考試習(xí)慣（如書寫、答題的規(guī)范格式）與技巧，減輕學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)壓力，盡量減輕學(xué)生畏難心理。

（7）、復(fù)習(xí)四統(tǒng)一：復(fù)習(xí)計(jì)劃統(tǒng)一，復(fù)習(xí)進(jìn)度統(tǒng)一，資料統(tǒng)一，檢測(cè)統(tǒng)一。統(tǒng)一檢測(cè)后要針對(duì)學(xué)生成績(jī)進(jìn)行分析討論，以便進(jìn)行查缺補(bǔ)漏。統(tǒng)一檢測(cè)時(shí)間由各學(xué)科備課組靈活安排。

（8）、注重各學(xué)科平衡發(fā)展，樹立十減一等于零的觀念。突出大科，特別關(guān)注小科，不放棄每一科。

3、突出學(xué)生是主體地位。備考重心下移，以生為本，提高實(shí)效。

（1）、加強(qiáng)學(xué)生思想品德教育，召開一次復(fù)習(xí)動(dòng)員會(huì)，關(guān)注學(xué)生思想變化情況，積極引導(dǎo)學(xué)生應(yīng)對(duì)生活、學(xué)習(xí)中的種種問(wèn)題，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生健全的人格。

（2）、重視學(xué)生考試心理教育，準(zhǔn)確對(duì)待考試中的得與失，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生良好的應(yīng)考習(xí)慣。

（3）、關(guān)注后進(jìn)生發(fā)展，激發(fā)后進(jìn)生的學(xué)習(xí)熱情，立足天天進(jìn)步一點(diǎn)，注意及時(shí)做好問(wèn)題學(xué)生的穩(wěn)定、轉(zhuǎn)化工作，防止出現(xiàn)大的事件發(fā)生。

（4）、立足優(yōu)生的穩(wěn)定與提高，在訓(xùn)練題的設(shè)計(jì)以及在課堂上都必須保優(yōu)生有進(jìn)一步的提升。

（5）、加強(qiáng)溝通，積極進(jìn)行家校聯(lián)系，聯(lián)同學(xué)生家長(zhǎng)，多方面為學(xué)生尋找更多的動(dòng)力。

（6）、有意識(shí)在班級(jí)內(nèi)激發(fā)學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)熱情，調(diào)動(dòng)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)競(jìng)爭(zhēng)意識(shí)，獎(jiǎng)勵(lì)學(xué)習(xí)優(yōu)秀與進(jìn)步的學(xué)生，樹立學(xué)生的學(xué)習(xí)榜樣。

（7）、堅(jiān)持創(chuàng)建良好班風(fēng)、學(xué)風(fēng)，營(yíng)造團(tuán)結(jié)、互助、進(jìn)取的班集體。

（8）、注意學(xué)生的體育鍛煉，每天要保證至少有一個(gè)小時(shí)的鍛煉時(shí)間，保持學(xué)生健康的體魄，承受緊張的學(xué)習(xí)。

一、統(tǒng)一思想、提高認(rèn)識(shí)

為了做好六年級(jí)畢業(yè)備考工作，提高六年級(jí)的教學(xué)質(zhì)量，使六年級(jí)備考工作做到科學(xué)性、針對(duì)性和有效性，我以新課程理念為指導(dǎo)，抓教風(fēng)學(xué)風(fēng)，調(diào)動(dòng)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的積極性，強(qiáng)化教學(xué)管理，不斷探索優(yōu)化課堂教學(xué)的有效途徑和方法，積極調(diào)動(dòng)一切有利因素。對(duì)備考工作要高度重視，進(jìn)一步統(tǒng)一思想、提高認(rèn)識(shí)，清晰認(rèn)識(shí)到畢業(yè)檢測(cè)的重要性。仔細(xì)分析現(xiàn)狀，針對(duì)本班學(xué)生情況進(jìn)行詳細(xì)、客觀的分析，抓好六年級(jí)迎小檢備考工作，力爭(zhēng)2016年六年級(jí)檢測(cè)成績(jī)穩(wěn)步提升。

四、備考措施：

（一)對(duì)上學(xué)期期末考試成績(jī)進(jìn)行質(zhì)量分析。做到心中有數(shù)，橫向、縱向比較，及時(shí)發(fā)現(xiàn)問(wèn)題，有的放矢的進(jìn)行彌補(bǔ)，將上學(xué)期期末考試成績(jī)進(jìn)行分析。既要徹底克服“定局”論，克服“盲目樂(lè)觀”的情緒，又要看到優(yōu)勢(shì)，同時(shí)也要看到差距。扎扎實(shí)實(shí)地抓好復(fù)習(xí)工作。（二)加強(qiáng)教學(xué)研討，認(rèn)真研究每單元的教學(xué)內(nèi)容、教學(xué)重、難點(diǎn)和教學(xué)進(jìn)度，以及教學(xué)需要注意的問(wèn)題，強(qiáng)化備課，提高備課質(zhì)量。（三)準(zhǔn)確定位，巧妙復(fù)習(xí)。復(fù)習(xí)不是機(jī)械重復(fù)過(guò)去的練習(xí)，而是要教方法、抓規(guī)律，引導(dǎo)學(xué)生放在更高的層次上，從新的視野對(duì)知識(shí)和有關(guān)事物進(jìn)行再認(rèn)識(shí)。
