I've always been an optimist and I supposed that is rooted in my belief that the power of creativity and intelligence can make the world a better place.我天生樂觀，堅信人類憑創(chuàng)造力和聰明才智可以讓世界日益美妙，這一設(shè)想一直根植于我的內(nèi)心深處。

I believe that computers are the most incredible tool we can use to feed our curiosity and inventiveness-to help us solve problems that even the smartest people couldn't solve on their own.Computer have transformed how we learn, giving kids everywhere a window into all of the world's knowledge.They're helping us build communicates around the things we care

Like my friend Warren Buffett, I feel particularly lucky to do something every day I love to do.He calls it “tap-dancing to work”.My job at Microsoft is as challenging as ever, but what makes me “tap-dancing to the work” is when we show people something new, like a computer that can recognize your handwriting or your speech, or one that can store a lifetime's worth of photos, and the say: “I didn't know you can do that with a pc!”

But for all the cool things that a person can do with a pc, there are lots other ways we can put our creativity and intelligence to work to improve our world.There are still far too many people in the world whose most basic needs go unmet.Every year, for example, millions of people die from diseases that are easy to prevent or treat in the developed world.但是，除了能用電腦做出很酷的事情之外，我們還能通過許多別的方式在工作中發(fā)揮自己的創(chuàng)造力和聰明才智，以改善我們的世界。全球仍有許許多多的人連最基本的生存需求都未能解決。舉例來說，每年仍有數(shù)以萬計的人死于那些在發(fā)達國家易于預(yù)防和治療的疾病。

I believe that my own good fortune brings with it a responsibility tp give back to the world.My wife, Melinda, and I have committed to improving health and education in a way that can help as many people as possible.我認為，我所擁有的大量財富也使我負有回饋社會的責(zé)任。我的妻子梅林達和我致力于為盡可能多的人改善健康和教育.As a father, I believe that the death of a child in Africa is no less poignant.or tragic than the death of a child anywhere else.And that doesn't take much to make an immense difference in these children's lives.作為一個父親，我認為，非洲孩子死去所引起的痛苦和悲傷絲毫不亞于任何其他的孩子的死亡;我認為，使這些孩子們的命運發(fā)生翻天地覆的變化并不費太大力氣。

President Bok, former President Rudenstine, incoming President Faust, members of the Harvard Corporation and the Board of Overseers, members of the faculty, parents, and especially, the graduates:

I've been waiting more than 30 years to say this: “Dad, I always told you I'd come back and get my degree.”

I want to thank Harvard for this timely honor.I'll be changing my job next year…and it will be nice to finally have a college degree on my resume.。

I applaud the graduates today for taking a much more direct route to your degrees.For my part, I'm just happy that the Crimson has called me “Harvard's most successful dropout.” I guess that makes me valedictorian of my own special class…I did the best of everyone who failed.But I also want to be recognized as the guy who got Steve Ballmer to drop out of business school.I'm a bad influence.That's why I was invited to speak at your graduation.If I had spoken at your orientation, fewer of you might be here today.Harvard was just a phenomenal experience for me.Academic life was fascinating.I used to sit in on lots of classes I hadn't even signed up for.And dorm life was terrific.I lived up at Radcliffe, in Currier House.There were always lots of people in my dorm room late at night discussing things, because everyone knew I didn't worry about getting up in the morning.That's how I came to be the leader of the anti-social group.We clung to each other as a way of validating our rejection of all those social people.對

Radcliffe was a great place to live.There were more women up there, and most of the guys were science-math types.That combination offered me the best odds, if you know what I mean.This is Where I learned the sad lesson that improving your odds doesn't guarantee success.One of my biggest memories of Harvard came in January 1975, when I made a call From Currier House to a company in Albuquerque that had begun making the world's first personal computers.I offered to sell them software.I worried that they would realize I was just a student in a dorm and hang up on me.Instead they said: “We're not quite ready, come see us in a month,” which was a good thing, because we hadn't written the software yet.From that moment, I worked day and night on this little extra credit project that marked the end of my college education and the beginning of a remarkable journey with Microsoft.What I remember above all about Harvard was being in the midst of so much energy and intelligence.It could be exhilarating, intimidating, sometimes even discouraging, but always challenging.It was an amazing privilege…and though I left early, I was transformed

by my years at Harvard, the friendships I made, and the ideas I worked on.But taking a serious look back…I do have one big regret.I left Harvard with no real awareness of the awful inequities in the world--the appalling disparities of health, and wealth, and opportunity that condemn millions of people to lives of despair.I left campus knowing little about the millions of young people cheated out of educational opportunities here in this country.And I knew nothing about the millions of people living in unspeakable poverty and disease in developing countries.我離開校園的時候，根本不知道在這個國家里，有幾百萬的年輕人無法獲得接受教育的機會。我也不知道，發(fā)展中國家里有無數(shù)的人們生活在無法形容的貧窮和疾病之中。

At the same time, for every person in the world who has access to this technology, five people don't.That means many creative minds are left out of this discussion--smart people with practical intelligence and relevant experience who don't have the technology to hone their talents or contribute their ideas to the world.與此同時，世界上有條件上網(wǎng)的人，只是全部人口的六分之一。這意味著，還有許多具有創(chuàng)造性的人們，沒有加入到我們的討論中來。那些有著實際的操作經(jīng)驗和相關(guān)經(jīng)歷的聰明人，卻沒有技術(shù)來幫助他們，將他們的天賦或者想法與全世界分享。

There is no question that the faculty, the alumni, the students, and the benefactors of Harvard have used their power to improve the lives of people here and around the world.But can we do more? Can Harvard dedicate its intellect to improving the lives of people who will never even hear its name?

Let me make a request of the deans and the professors--the intellectual leaders here at Harvard: As you hire new faculty, award tenure, review curriculum, and determine degree requirements, please ask yourselves:

Should the world's most privileged people learn about the lives of the world's least privileged?

These are not rhetorical questions--you will answer with your policies.這些問題并非語言上的修辭。你必須用自己的行動來回答它們。

When you consider what those of us here in this Yard have been given--in talent, privilege, and opportunity--there is almost no limit to what the world has a right to expect From us.想一想吧，我們在這個院子里的這些人，被給予過什么——天賦、特權(quán)、機遇——那么可以這樣說，全世界的人們幾乎有無限的權(quán)力，期待我們做出貢獻。

親愛的老師們同學(xué)們：

早上好！

我是初二（7）班的金燦燦。數(shù)年前，比爾•蓋茨曾經(jīng)發(fā)表了一次關(guān)于“釋放你的創(chuàng)造力”的演講。今天，我也在這里，以相同的主題，做一次國旗下的講話。

這個世界正在以一種奇跡般的速度改頭換面，通過電視，網(wǎng)絡(luò)，雜志，獲得知識已經(jīng)不再是難事了。但是，人們的另一種能力——創(chuàng)造力卻沒有以相同的比例增長。因為并不是所有人都具備從所獲取的知識當(dāng)中得到啟發(fā)，從而創(chuàng)造出屬于自己的嶄新事物的能力。而這種能力——創(chuàng)造力卻恰恰是如今社會急需的能力。是知識使人成才，但“天才”與“庸才”的分水嶺卻是創(chuàng)造力的高低。

顧名思義，創(chuàng)造力是指產(chǎn)生新思想，發(fā)現(xiàn)和創(chuàng)造新事物的能力，是人類特有的一種綜合性本領(lǐng)。它是成功地完成某種創(chuàng)造性活動所必需的心理品質(zhì)。例如創(chuàng)造新概念，新理論，更新技術(shù)，發(fā)明新設(shè)備，新方法，創(chuàng)作新作品都是創(chuàng)造力的表現(xiàn)。它同時也是一系列連續(xù)的復(fù)雜的高水平的心理活動。它要求人的全部體力和智力的高度緊張，以及創(chuàng)造性思維在最高水平上進行。

在許多人心中，創(chuàng)造力完全來自非邏輯思維，比如形象思維，想象力，發(fā)散性思維，逆向思維，非常規(guī)思維，直覺力等等。所以他們就認為：訓(xùn)練創(chuàng)造力，必須拋棄理性的邏輯思維，然后多去做一些諸如腦筋急轉(zhuǎn)彎一類的題目。他們還認為：我們目前所受的教育，是扼殺創(chuàng)造力的罪魁禍?zhǔn)住W(xué)到的知識越多，創(chuàng)造力就越弱。實際上，創(chuàng)造力與理性思維密切相關(guān)。人類的創(chuàng)造力寓于理性思維之中，而不是之外。比如說，德意志民族就是世界上最理性、最嚴(yán)謹、行為也是最古板的民族。他們的邏輯思維能力非常強，但是，德國人也是世界上最富創(chuàng)造力的民族之一。在近代史和現(xiàn)代史上，大部分大哲學(xué)家和思想家是德國人——黑格爾，馬克思，康德，叔本華，尼采，海德格爾，萊布尼茨。的人還有愛因斯坦，是德國猶太人。這些事例，深刻地說明了創(chuàng)造力與思維力，特別是理性思維力之間的密切關(guān)系。

那怎樣判斷一個人是否具有創(chuàng)造力呢？這樣的人在身邊并不少見。無論是周圍的同學(xué)或是網(wǎng)絡(luò)上時常妙語連珠的網(wǎng)民，都具有許多創(chuàng)造性的想法。但是只有將自己的知識、智力、能力及優(yōu)良的個性品質(zhì)等復(fù)雜因素綜合優(yōu)化的人才能將自己偶爾靈光一現(xiàn)的細小想法，慢慢發(fā)展成大創(chuàng)造。幾乎每個人都具有相當(dāng)程度的“小聰明”式創(chuàng)造力，但是這種能力僅僅只能于耍耍小花招之類，不能有真正的成就。我們需要的是“理論創(chuàng)造力”，即對于人類的思維和實踐具有重大影響的具有理論性的創(chuàng)造能力。比如在工程學(xué)中，有各種各樣的近似理論和模型用來解釋、預(yù)測和模擬現(xiàn)實生活中的經(jīng)驗觀察?！袄碚搫?chuàng)造力”就是那些為創(chuàng)造這些理論所需要的人類的聰明才智。它的思維規(guī)模不一定宏大，但思維緯度必須獨特、深刻。因為這些“規(guī)模宏大的理論”并不是任何一個人的能力所完成的，而是眾多天才人物和普通實踐者的智慧結(jié)晶。我們在日常生活中的所見所聞，所有有價值的實物或思想，乃至人類的整個文明史，都是理論創(chuàng)造力的實現(xiàn)成果。

去年，有一個令人悲痛的調(diào)查，在全球21個受調(diào)查國家中，中國孩子的計算能力排名第一，想象力排名倒數(shù)第一，創(chuàng)造力排名倒數(shù)第五。原因的形成是復(fù)雜多面的，有家庭的，學(xué)校的，個人的，傳統(tǒng)的文化的等各方面的交互作用。但我相信，我們中國學(xué)生的智商情商人際關(guān)系商都不比其他國家的人差，甚至更有優(yōu)勢，我們的想象力和創(chuàng)造力只是被長期壓抑了。我們的當(dāng)務(wù)之急是釋放創(chuàng)造力。

在此，我有如下的個人見解。首先是一定要有寬容開放的家庭氛圍，父母應(yīng)該鼓勵孩子們擁有自己獨立的思維，看法，獨立解決問題，保護孩子的好奇心，探索欲。其次，學(xué)校教育是最直接最強烈地影響學(xué)生創(chuàng)造力形成的場所。除了對知識積累的重視外，更應(yīng)該重視對學(xué)生興趣的激發(fā)與培養(yǎng)，理性思維的培訓(xùn)，引導(dǎo)學(xué)生獨立思考敢于創(chuàng)新。最后是學(xué)生本人，作為社會未來的主人公，應(yīng)該充分利用各種資源，有意識、有主見、有方向地培養(yǎng)自身的創(chuàng)造力。比如我們中大附中就是一個能夠激發(fā)學(xué)生想象力與創(chuàng)造力的好地方，豐富多彩的藝術(shù)節(jié)可以提供舞臺與場所給那些熱愛音樂、街舞、美術(shù)、書法、動漫的潛在藝術(shù)家們，而花樣翻新的科技節(jié)為那些愛科學(xué)、愛自然、愛物理、愛化學(xué)的科學(xué)達人提供了最好的平臺。我本人呢，就從藝術(shù)節(jié)的現(xiàn)場作畫，科技節(jié)的電腦制作等活動中收益頗豐，對自身的想象力和創(chuàng)造力的提高有了很好的促進。

讓我們展開想象的翅膀，依托創(chuàng)新的氣流，高舉獨立之精神，自由之思想的旗幟，釋放我們積蓄已久的創(chuàng)造力，那么比爾﹣蓋茨，史蒂夫-喬布斯, 馬克-扎克伯格就有可能從我們，中大附中的學(xué)生中誕生，對，就是你和我！
