現(xiàn)在我們來說一個美國的常用語dress。詞組就是：dress down。Dress down這個短語有兩種完全不同的意思。這就是為什么我們學(xué)習(xí)詞匯或者短語的意義得通過上下文來理解。我們來聽一位老師在說自己怎么處置老是遲到的男孩兒John。

英語沙龍 玩轉(zhuǎn)英語
9月23日，由泰達(dá)學(xué)院學(xué)生會學(xué)術(shù)部主辦的本學(xué)期首次英語沙龍活動在三區(qū)一階成功舉辦。泰達(dá)學(xué)院應(yīng)用物理學(xué)院的兩位外籍教師夫婦與四十多位參加沙龍的同學(xué)用英文交流得不亦樂乎。在這里，大家暢談最美麗的地方，最喜愛的運動，最向往的未來，參與最有趣的單詞接龍游戲，一起玩轉(zhuǎn)英語。
晚上六點整，在輕快的英文歌曲中，英語沙龍活動正式拉開序幕。第一位同學(xué)與這對老外夫婦交流了各自喜愛的sports，他們顯然是運動迷，一提起這個話題滔滔不絕，football、ping-pong、walking等等一連串的介紹令英語聽力較為生疏的同學(xué)應(yīng)接不暇，也正好給他們提供了一個提升聽力的絕佳機(jī)會。接著一些同學(xué)有關(guān)hometown的問題又一次打開了他們的話匣子，這對來自奧地利首都維也納的夫婦，幸福地談?wù)撈鹆四抢锏膍ountain、music和climate等，還與天津進(jìn)行了一番比較。不過無論是家鄉(xiāng)還是天津，他們都愛。這對夫婦隨后在沙龍活動現(xiàn)場找到了許多中國各地的旅游向?qū)В凶類郾本┑男』?，有迷戀廈門的姑娘，他們口中的最美麗的地方令這對夫婦神往不已，表示將來一定要請他們做向?qū)糜稳袊?/p>
與熱情洋溢的老外的英文交流只是本次沙龍活動的第一次高潮，之后的topics自由交流階段，使現(xiàn)場的氣氛更加熱烈。同學(xué)們依次介紹了他們的plans for future。觀看了電影Ice Age的片段后，大家爭相發(fā)言討論他們的favorite character，并說出了各自的理由。而最激動人心的環(huán)節(jié)莫過于單詞接龍游戲了。第一個人任意說一個英文單詞，接下來的每一個人都要在5秒內(nèi)說出一個以前一個人說的單詞的最后一個字母為首字母的新單詞，成功的讓后面的人接不上來者，得獎品一份，送完即止。有了獎品的誘惑，每個人都絞盡腦汁，思維活躍。有些反應(yīng)慢了一拍的人給他們前面一位同學(xué)贏取了可愛的獎品。不過獎品是次要的，重要的是每個人收獲了歡樂，學(xué)會了一些以前不知道的英語單詞。
