Email

There are some slight differences in connotations of each letter ending.I'll order them in increasing formality.Love

Very personal.Used between lovers, family and close friends.Cheers

Very casual.Used between friends. Can be used between coworkers if you want to appear very casual, at the risk of sounding unprofessional.Take care

Casual and used between friends. Thanks or Thank You

'Thanks' is very casual and 'Thank You' is formal.Usually used in a business setting.'Thank You' is a great way to end an email to a stranger, especially if you are making a request or asking a question.Yours or Yours Truly or Truly

Casual or Business casual.A more personal, but still polite way to end the letter. You've probably met the recipient in real life.Best or Best Wishes

Casual or Business casual.A polite way to end the letter. Can be used between friends or strangers.Sincerely or Sincerely Yours or Yours Sincerely

Casual, Business casual or Formal. The standard letter ending.'Sincerely' is the most versatile ending because it can be used to end either casual or formal correspondence. If you're unsure about how to sign your letter, use 'Sincerely'.Regards or Best Regards

Business casual or formal. You would use this if the recipient is someone you haven't met in real life.Cordially

Formal.Used in business correspondence when the topic of the letter is serious.Sometimes used if there is a conflict between the sender and the recipient.Using an ending that is too casual for the situation may not always be inappropriate.Conversely, using a casual ending can show your self-confidence.But to do this requires you to gauge whether the recipient would like a more casual conversation.

      Cheers

      Take care

      Thanks or Thank You

Yours or Yours Truly or Truly

      Best or Best Wishes

Sincerely or Sincerely Yours or Yours Sincerely

      Regards or Best Regards

      Cordially

      Beginning and ending the letter

We can now begin the letter but leave as much space as possible so that the body of the letter sits tidily in the middle part of the page.(信正文部分放在紙的中間)

If you know the person you are writing to very well or are on friendly terms, begin simply with the first name, Dear Mary or Dear Henry.(如果跟這個人很熟或者友好,用Dear+first name)

If you don't know the person you are writing to so well, but know of him as a named individual, start with title and surname: Dear Mr Potter or Dear Dr Baker or Dear Miss Taylor or Dear Mrs Cook or Dear Ms Barber. If you are not sure which of the last three titles is appropriate in any particular case, it is probably best to stick to Ms.(如果不認(rèn)識這個人,只知這人名字,用Dear+title(Mr/Dr/Miss/Mrs/Ms,不知道女性婚否,就用Ms)

Finish this type of letter with Yours sincerely. It is not necessary to insert a comma after beginnings or endings. If you know the person you are writing to well, it may be appropriate to insert a closing formula, such as With very best wishes, before the ending itself.(結(jié)尾用Yours sincerely,前后不用加逗號。 Sign the letter with your first name, if you are on first-name terms, or with your full name, if it needs to be a little more formal, but without any title.Your full typewritten name and designation(on separate lines)should appear beneath your handwritten signature.(如果給人去信開頭是那人first name,你也first name落款,稍微鄭重一點,就不加title全名落款。

If you do not know the name of the person you are writing to, begin with Dear Sir or Dear Sir or Madam or Dear Madam and end your letter with Yours faithfully, followed by your full name and designation.(如果你不知道你去信的人的名字,開頭用Dear Sir或者Dear Sir or Madam或者Dear Madam,結(jié)尾用Yours Faithfully,然后落款)

Using Yours faithfully and Yours sincerely.‘Yours faithfully’ or ‘Yours sincerely’ in a business letter? When the recipient’s name is unknown to you:

? ? ? Dear Sir ? Yours faithfully Dear Madam ? Yours faithfully

Dear Sir or Madam ? Yours faithfully

When you know the recipient’s name:

? ? ? ? Dear Mr Hanson ? Yours sincerely Dear Mrs Hanson ? Yours sincerely Dear Miss Hanson ? Yours sincerely Dear Ms Hanson ? Yours sincerely

When addressing a good friend or colleague: ? Dear Jack ? Best wishes/Best regards

Addressing whole departments: ? Dear Sirs ? Yours faithfully

      cover letter

Best Wishes

      Yours Sincerely, Name

      -------------

Yours Faithfully

      Regards一般也不單用,一般用的是Best Regards/Warm Regards/Kind Regards。

Cheers, mate.Cheers,man

Dear Jack...Best wishes/Best regards

第一次聯(lián)系,推銷,建立業(yè)務(wù)關(guān)系,通常用sincerely,(Yours sincerely=I'm sincerely yours).

3.沒有見過cheers.4.thanks一般只用過thanks for your cooperation in advance 或者最后再次致謝。

      Cheers

      Thank you for contacting us.

Thank you for your prompt reply. 如果回復(fù)并不及時,只要將“prompt”除去即可,你還可以說,“Thank you for getting back to me.”

Thank you for providing the requested information.

Thank you for your assistance. 如果你想對他們表示特別的感激,就用這個句子,“I truly appreciate your help in resolving the problem.”

Thank you for raising your concerns. 同時,你也可以使用,“Thank you for your feedback.”

Thank you for your kind cooperation.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

      Thank you for your understanding.

      Thank you for your consideration.

Thank you again for everything you've done.

We have received with many thanks your letter of 20 May, and we take the pleasure of sending you our latest catalog. We wish to draw your attention to a special offer which we have made in it.You will be particularly interested in a special offer on page 5 of the latest catalog enclosed, which you requested in your letter of 20 May.

“You earn 2 percent discount when you pay cash.We will send you the brochure next month.”就比 “We allow 2 percent discount for cash payment. We won't be able to send you the brochure this month.”

As to the steamers sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco, we have bimonthly direct services.此處bimonthly有歧義:可以是twice a month 或者once two month.

1.We have two direct sailings every month from Hong Kong to San Francisco.2.We have semimonthly direct sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco.3.We have a direct sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco.(二)注意詞語所放的位置: 例如:

1.We shall be able to supply 10 cases of the item only.2.We shall be able to supply 10 cases only of the item.

1.We sent you 5 samples yesterday of the goods which you requested in your letter of May 20 by air.2.We sent you, by air, 5 samples of the goods which you requested in your letter of May 20.

1.We wish to acknowledge receipt of your letter... We appreciate your letter...2.Enclosed herewith please find two copies of... We enclose two copies of...(二)避免不必要的重復(fù):

Enclosed herewith----->enclosed at this time----->now due to the fact that----->because a draft in the amount of $1000----->a draft for $1000

例如: “You earn 2 percent discount when you pay cash.We will send you the brochure next month.”就比 “We allow 2 percent discount for cash payment. We won't be able to send you the brochure this month.”

As to the steamers sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco, we have bimonthly direct services.

以是twice a month 或者once two month. 1.We have two direct sailings every month from Hong Kong to San Francisco.2.We have semimonthly direct sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco.3.We have a direct sailing from Hong Kong to San Francisco.(二)注意詞語所放的位置:例如: 1.We shall be able to supply 10 cases of the item only.2.We shall be able to supply 10 cases only of the item.

男性收信人使用Mr.,女性收信人使用Ms,如果收信人有頭銜,最好寫頭銜,如Dr.6 信的開端舉出一個寫信的緣由(i.e.‘With reference to our telephone conversation...’)7 寫明寫信的原因(i.e.‘I am writing to you to confirm our order...’)8 注明信函自己的要求(i.e.‘I would be grateful if you could include a brochure...’)9 如果想進(jìn)一步聯(lián)系,提出建議(i.e.‘I look forward to meeting you at...’)10 信函結(jié)束時別忘了表示謝意(i.e.‘Thank you for your prompt help...’)11 注意結(jié)尾敬辭的對應(yīng)(i.e.‘Yours sincerely,’)12 簽名留出足夠的位置并注明頭銜

1.Email is much less formal than a written letter.Emails are usually short and concise.2.If you are writing to someone you don’t know, a simple “Hello” is adequate.Using a salutation such as “Dear Mr Smith,” is too formal.3.When writing to someone you know well, feel free to write as if you are speaking to the person.4.Use abbreviated verb forms(He’s, We’re, He’d, etc.)5.Include a telephone number to the signature of the email. This will give the recipient the chance to telephone if necessary.6.It is not necessary to include your email address as the recipient can just reply to the email.7.When replying eliminate all the information that is not necessary.Only leave the sections of text that are related to your reply. This will save your reader time when reading your email.

He’s, We’re, He’d, 等等。
