1)年份必須完全寫明,不可用"04代替XX;
2)月份必須用英文拼出或采用公認(rèn)的簡寫,即 january(jan.),february(feb.),march(mar.),april(apr.),may,june,july,august(aug.),september
(sept.),october(oct.),november(nov.),december(dec.);
3)日期可用序數(shù)詞,如:1st,2nd,3rd,4th,...;也可用基數(shù)詞,如:1,2,3,4,...。但美式大多采用后者;
4)在年份和月日之間必須用逗號(hào)隔開;
6th,april,1978
april 6th,1978
january(jan.)一月;
february(feb.)二月;
march(mar.)三月;
april(apr.)四月;
may(may.)五月;
june(jun.)六月;
july(jul.)七月;
august(aug.)八月;
september(sept.)九月;
october(oct.)十月;
november(nov.)十一月;
december(dec.)
星期一: mon.=monday
星期二: tues.=tuesday
星期三: wed.=wednesday
星期四: thur.=thurday
星期五: fri.=friday
星期六: sat.=saturday

A.文法上
Deciding to rescind the earlier estimate, our report was updated to include $40,000 for new equipment.” 應(yīng)改為 Deciding to rescind our earlier estimate, we have updated our report to include $40,000 for new equipment.(We決定呀, 不是report.)
He decided not to audit the last ten contracts.Because of our previous objections about compliance. The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and the fact that the contract had been altered with ink markings.應(yīng)改為: The owner questioned the occupant's lease intentions and ink alterations of the contract.4. An authorized person must show that they have security clearance.5. 1.This is one of the public-relations functions that is underbudgeted.2.This is one of the public-relations functions, which are underbudgeted.6. He did not make repairs, however, he continued to monitor the equipment. He did not make repairs;however, he continued to monitor the equipment.8. MUST change to OS immediately.
1.Because he was unable to attend the meeting personally, he forwarded his congratulations on cassette tape.2.He forwarded his congratulations on cassette tape because he was unable to attend the meeting personally. 例如: but(相反), therefore(結(jié)論), also(增添), for example(闡明). These decisions have been a big disappointment to the committee members.They have delayed further action.They是指什么呀開頭少用this, that, it, they, 或 which.6. He could only reimburse the cost after July 15.應(yīng)為 He could reimburse the cost only after July 15.7. The figures show a significant increase.” The figures show an increase of 19%.8. Partial data should be submitted by April. You should submit partial data by April.
弱軟的詞(e.g.was, were, is, are...) Prunton products are highly effective in...改為: Prunton products excel in... 1.This information will be sincerely appreciated.” 2.We sincerely appreciate your information.
Enclosed is our proposed agenda for our meetings to be held at your head office from May 27 to June 2.It covers all areas we would need to clarify before any final decision could be made.1。注意enclosed is 用法: enclose means :to send something in the same envelope or parcel as something else.所以Enclosed is... X meeting to be held at...from...to...
3。It covers... 。內(nèi)容
You may wish to include other areas to meet requirements on your side.If so, please submit proposed additions as soon as possible.1。注意you may wish to include。。
2。注意to meet requirements on your side:按照貴方要求
3。submit:提交。。
A prompt reply will very much facilitate preparations on this side.
1。注意 prompt means: done or acting quickly and without waiting, or arriving at the correct time.
2。facilitate means: to make something possible or easier就是促進(jìn)的意思
I am writing to thank you for the hospitality you extended on my recent visit to your country.The delightful and memorable lunch at your headquarters brought to mind again the close relationship between our companies.I look forward to developing that relationship to the mutual benefit of our organizations.1、I am writing...引出寫信的目的2、thank you for...
3、hospitality you extended: extend means to give someone an invitation, thanks, etc,這個(gè)短語就是正統(tǒng)的 承蒙您的熱情款待
4、delightful and memorable lunch:
5、bring to mind again:
6、I look forward to doing...:期望。。
7、mutual benefit:
Very very belatedly I am writing to thank you again for the beautiful vase you gave me at the cocktail party last month.Thank you for inviting Mr.Huang as well.We both enjoyed the occasion thoroughly.We all hope to see you the next time in Taipei.Meanwhile, from your friends at JATEL best wishes and warmest regards.【注釋】
1.Very very belatedly I am writing to...
2.I am writing to...
3.thank you for...
4.We enjoyed the occasion thoroughly...
5.We all hope to...from...
1.As one of the first things I do upon returning from my trip, I would like to again thank you for the beautiful painting you presented me with at the memorable reception you arranged for me during my visit. 。
2.This is again voice my appreciation for the fine engraved watch I received from you at your commemoration party early this month.
It was good to have the chance to meet you during your stay here in Hong Kong.Thank you for promptly furnishing us with some written information on your products.We would like to begin to look into the feasibility of our cooperating in your marketing effort here.We will keep you up to date on any subsequent developments.【注釋】
1.It was good to…很高興
2.have the chance to…有機(jī)會(huì)…
3.during your stay here in…
4.Thank you for…
5.Promptly furnish us with…
7.look into…
9.Keep you up to date
10.on any subsequent developments 任何進(jìn)展
【應(yīng)用】
1.It was indeed a pleasure to have the opportunity to meet you while you were in Hong Kong.
3.It was nice to have a chance to get together with you during your recent trip here.
This is to thank you again for taking time and trouble to join us in celebtating our 15th anniversary.Being able to share this day with friends like you made the occasion all the more meaningful.I would very much appreciate being afforded the chance to reciprocate the courtesy at some appropriate time.In the meantime, I wish you every personal success and happiness.with warmest personal regards,【注釋】
1。This is to thank you again for...
2。taking the time and trouble to join us.
3。Being able to...
5。all the more meaningful
6。being afforded=being given,但是更正式。
7。I would very much appreciate being afforded the chance to reciprocate the courtesy at some appropriate time. I would very much appreciate,然后是being afforded the chance to reciprocate the courtesy at some appropriate time,也就是先點(diǎn)題,我什么榮幸,然后再說原因,為了什么榮幸!
8。courtesy:好意
Allow us to begin by thanking you for all you have done to secure a foothold for our products in your market.Your ability to maintain sales despite the negative factors affecting our business is highly regarded here.We have also had our troubles.The biggest of these has been the sharp depreciation in the value of the U.S.dollar on which all our prices are based.Every effort has been made to absorb this drop in revenue through cost reduction measures.However,with the depreciation now reaching 20%, it has become impossible to unilaterally adsorb these losses.Consequently, we have decided to raise our export prices 10% across the board effective April 1.We realize this will not make your situation easier.However, please consider the fact that we have been running in the red for three months now.Also, bear in mind that by asking for only 10%
we are seeking to share and not shift the entire burden.Your understanding and cooperation in this regard will be very much appreciated.【注釋】
2。Allow us to begin by thanking you for...
Your ability to maintain sales despite the negative factors affecting our business... Your ability is highly regarded.
5。We have also had our troubles.
6。Every effort has been made to absorb this drop in revenue through cost reduction measures.
7。it has become impossible to unilaterally adsorb these losses. We haven’t unilaterally adsorb these losses。
9。We realize this will not make your situation easier.Howevre... 并不能使你方情況變得輕松,昨天我在給我的客戶的郵件里面用了類似的表達(dá):I am aware, Mr.Joshua, that this explanation might not put your mind at easy. 說一個(gè)短語to share and not shift the entire burden:是分擔(dān)困難,而不是推卸責(zé)任。注意shift
10。Your understanding and cooperation in this regard will be very much appreciated.
Dear XXXXX,As discussed with you please find enclosed the fault report of XXX area which I had generated about service problem in XXXX & specially XXXX two days ago.There isn’t ant remedial action yet & customers are still facing problem an immediate action for rectification is required.Best regards,【注釋】
1。As discussed with you:代表已經(jīng)和你討論過了,就好像我們平時(shí)說的和你提過的那個(gè)。
3。the fault report.....which I generated....:最簡單的定語從句,主要想說一下generate report,生成報(bào)告,出一份報(bào)告。
5。remedial action:補(bǔ)救措施,有時(shí)候也說try to make up for my carelessness.6.facing problem:多簡單啊,面對(duì)問題:)
Thanks&Regards!
We have reluctantly decided to accept your proposel to raise the price of the AK-7C and AK-7CX micro-processors by 8% effective June 1.Please understand that the increase at this time cannot help but depress sale considerably.It will also hurt our image with our customers, who may just choose to switch suppliers.Nevertheless, rest assured that every effort will be made to minimize the damage.【注釋】
2。have reluctantly decided to
5。Please understand that...
6。the increase at this time cannot help but depress sales considerably,此刻提價(jià)對(duì)銷售沒有任何幫助,只能產(chǎn)生不良影響。
7。hurt our image with our customers,hurt our image with...
8。may just choose to switch suppliers,體會(huì)一下just的意思,表示一種立刻馬上的意思
9。Nevertheless,
10。rest assured that every effort will be made to minimize the damage. 另外,every effort will be made to minimize the damage. 。

Benjamin Franklin: the Man who Invented America Countless legendary figures have achieved iconic status.However, Benjamin Franklin is the unique one.Renowned for his versatility and success in various domains, the Philadelphia printer, scientist, and statesman was a universal genius.In Benjamin Franklin: Inventing America, Edwin.S.Gaustad presents a fully rounded portrait of this endlessly fascinating human being.Extensively researched and footnoted, this one-volume biography reveals how he shaped up his multiple talents, as well as the strength that drove him on.Franklin was not blessed as a child.He was the son of a soap maker, and also the 17th child of the family.Due to poverty, young Franklin had to drop out of school and work as an apprentice in a print shop to help support the family.The work was nothing but strenuous, yet it did give the young apprentice access to books.Through exposing himself to the best of human wisdom by reading extensively, he gave himself an education.Meanwhile, his industry paid off handsomely.At age 24, Franklin was already one of the wealthiest publishers in Philadelphia.But Franklin didn?t stop as a popular publisher.At age 40, intrigued by the phenomenon of electricity, Franklin was firm that the subject needed a more systematic investigation.To prove the resemblance between lightening and electricity, he conducted his famous “kite experiment” in a storm.No experiment gave Franklin greater acclaim, either home or abroad.Several years later, Franklin put all these research into practical application by inventing the lightening rod, which made him irreplaceable in the history of modern science.Later, Franklin?s inventiveness went on.Interestingly, he never asked for any patents.As he wrote in his Autobiography, “We should be glad of an opportunity to serve others by any invention of ours, and this should be done freely and generously.”
At age 50, Franklin stepped into politics.Having seen the liberty, equality, wealth and happiness of his people deprived by the colonials, he encouraged his fellow Americans to fight against tyranny and protect their rights.He took up his favorite weapon, the pen, to explain carefully and coolly why America should not be directly taxed by the British Parliament.Gradually, Franklin became the one of the strongest voices for the interest of the colonies.Thanks to his courage and leadership, the colonies were eventually brought together, and a new nation started to emerge.Franklin accepted every duty thrust upon him as a faithful statesman.In 1776, the 71 year-old Franklin helped write the Declaration of Independence.The same year, he sailed to France to secure France?s support for America in the war against the British colonialists.In 1787, Franklin took the job to draft Constitution of the United States of America, with a great many accomplishments already behind him.Through the detailed life stories of Benjamin Franklin, the mystery of how he became a universal genius was gradually unraveled.優(yōu)秀
Know Yourself, an Admonition for Every Plain Man None of us is more human than another.This is the last sentence of the book The Plain Man and His Wife.Everybody is plain to some degree, including those great minds.As a result, similarities can be found on no matter the rich or the poor, the successful or the unsuccessful, the idle or the diligent, the luxurious or the austere.To the plain men like us, there is only means but no ends about our life.The taste for pleasure always seems vague and far away.Not everybody is willing to endure the risk of life, nor are they positive enough to think in other people?s place.The whole book, consisted of these four aspects, shows us the tapestry of plain man?s life, clogged with abundant trivialities and paradoxes.Intrigued by the author?s unique perspective, I opened the book, wishing to seek the shiny points of wisdom that overflow between the lines.The author, Arnold Bennett is quite famous in Britain.But sadly I don?t know much about him.In early 20 century, the Britain newly stepped into industry age.Thus, people?s lives were changed dramatically.Arnold Bennett, as a representative of the middle class, wrote lots of stories about them.Some to advocate, some to ridicule.In this book, the plain man is supposed to be a middle class man living in 100 years ago.Even so, readers can also find the sign of themselves on this plain man.The characters of human being never vary too much.We may have our own unique way of living, but we share the same emotion when we are confronted with the same affair.We laugh when we feel happy, we cry when we are sad.We are in pursuit of an ideal life, yet we feel depressed about the daily routine and inevitable trifle.The pleasure or pain that the plain man tasted has infiltrated the blood vessels of every people existing in the world.Because we share the same name: human.To this degree, the plain man can be you, can be me, and can be anybody.So the plain man?s weakness can also be your weakness.His confusion can also be yours.He may be a gentleman, but clearly not gentle enough on his life.He feels unsatisfied with his life, no happiness, no means, only ends or rather, destiny.The appointed path stretches inexorably in front, all he could do is to keep going, without reason.A really fundamental question about the appointed path has never been asked.It never occurs to him.I suddenly remembered my primary school, middle school and high school.I walked on my path, leaving one and then stepping into another, feeling rather reasonable in mind.It is the doomed way for everybody who works as a student!Logically, I went to college, and then further my study.I may find a job, find a lover, find a marriage, and one day I may suddenly realize that the youth became the past tense.Horrible!Those dreams and expectations hadn?t yet been realized!I forget to leave some space for them in the reality.What a shame!I may wake up one day, like the plain man, greet the day with “Oh lord!Another day!What a grind!”
So this time, I force myself to think, to really think about my life, my present life.People say university life is one of the most important periods in one?s life.It matters a lot in deciding one?s character, friends circle, career and even family.To compare it with my past 20 years of life, I have to admit that university life is really great!One the one hand, I am set free from the tyranny of the pressure about study.I came to realize that there are more things about life, about people and about myself.I can decide what to do and what I don?t have to do to some degree;on the other hand, I gradually form my own way of living, my own perspective and my attitude about life.So surely I won?t complain about the boring day.At lease recently I am still indulging in the pleasure of university life.However, time will not stay at this point forever.One day, I will graduate, I will work;I will be old, old enough to be fed up with my life.A traveler is travelling.He has no idea about his destination, nor would he come to think of it.Just as the traveler admitted, he just had to start and he started.The plain man is tagger and deeply affronted by the illogical absurdity of human nature.The plain man knows that he will go to Timbuctoo.But he doesn?t know why he has to go there.The two people find each other?s claim quite annoying, but finally they shake hands.This is a really interesting parable.The author tries to explain some assertion and inquiry about life.Since the turpitudes, fatuities and unreason in human nature are unavoidable, the sparkle of wisdom is thereby a bit obscure.So people are apt to forget the immediate end of existence in the means.No awareness of why is formed in people?s minds.The reason seems to be no reason.Just as the author said, a remedy will be worth finding.In my opinion, the remedy is to find some goals.Just be peaceful and probe deep into your heart.Let your heart tell you what you really want.Wake up those beautiful dreams, those childish wished that has been forgotten long ago.Then, you may find your own meaning of living.Set up some goals, make little plans and adhere to them.The days will no longer be a grind.I remember that during my summer and winter vocations, I always feel dull and bored.I have no homework to do, no pressure for study, even no need to do the washing myself.I walk around aimlessly, having no plans for tomorrow.So after each vocation, I feel empty in my brain, and a sense of guilty in my heart.The misery of non-achievement outweighs the pleasure of relaxation.However, when the school begins, I come to live again.The delight of achievement can compensate some sense of guilty, so I feel my life full of vigor and appeal again.I think as for the frustration of the plain man is because he has lost the motivation to make progress.He has his job, wife and children.He exhausted himself for the whole life, goes his way ignoring all the interesting oases and experiences.The result is he get what he hoped, but lost his initial intention.I can imagine how he feels.Sometimes I also feel the same.But now, I think I become more aware of what I am doing and what I am supposed to do.Though we are all plain man, the only difference is the period of life.I am in my youth but he has reached the later part of his journey.So the sooner I realize the reason of a boring life, the more pleasure I will create for my future.There must be some days that you are confronted with an unusual succession of annoyance, exasperations and disappointments——you may feel something must be wrong——but it does happen.Even a trifle can bring about some explosion of pessimism, leaving you feel acid and savage.It must have happened to you before,as it is the same with anybody else, especially when you feel you cannot stop the succession of trifle.The payment of the future is to stultify daily one part of human nature.When you are limited into a certain sort of work and you can?t quit, this feeling would come out.What would you do? As far as I am concerned, the only way is to find a compromise between the present and the future.When you are in such a bad mood, you must feel awful, seeing no happiness from your daily life.However, any problem of human conduce, however hard and apparently hopeless, could not be solved by dint of sagacity and ingenuity.The tyrannic routine seems endless, but everything will be the past, only if you are able to find a reason and solution.Never lose the capacity for pleasure.But how can we manage that? There is an ancient counsel:” know yourself.” It hears so trite, so ordinary.But it is really difficult to realize.The truth is, the rarity of is the root of unhappiness.Self-knowledge is particular required for the solution of the immediate case that mentioned above.I quite agree with the author at this point.Sometimes I tend to disguise myself with a mask, feeling a sin in not being interested in what interests others, and hoping that I can be liked by everybody.In fact, if you want to please everybody, you please nobody.It?s only the tiredness that left in your heart.You tell yourself, that you are supposed to do some particular things, rather than with a spontaneous willingness.The true feeling is omitted.When I begin to feel unsatisfied with what I am doing, the succession of a mass will come out.So I have to get down to the trifle that I am dying to escape from.Suppose that I have always been doing what I like to do, being my real self, I may not be more positive when explosion of pessimism come out.See!Your inner feeling is the one that conducts your life!The story of the plain man never ends, ?because the river of human nature never ends but keeps flowing.My reflection on it won?t stop, too.This book is about the plain man, but the principle and argument isn?t plain at all.It is worth everybody?s reflection.Life itself is a kind of knowledge, only those who learn well can get the truth of it.I am a plain man, and it really arouses my interest to know more about myself.
