淺談跨文化商務(wù)交際中的商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)
摘 要:隨著各國經(jīng)濟(jì)來往日益頻繁,跨文化商務(wù)交際越來越普遍,商務(wù)英語信函作為現(xiàn)代商務(wù)活動中不可或缺的工具,得到了廣泛的應(yīng)用。本文主要探討了商務(wù)英語信函寫作在跨文化商務(wù)交際中的應(yīng)用以及商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)。

一、引言
隨著經(jīng)濟(jì)的迅猛發(fā)展,各個國家和地區(qū)之間的的商務(wù)貿(mào)易往來越來越密切。跨文化商務(wù)交際在國際貿(mào)易中起著重要作用。商務(wù)英語信函在貿(mào)易往來中既是促成交易的交易雙方溝通的手段,也可以作為交易的重要憑證,因此,商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)十分重要。
二、商務(wù)英語信函
商務(wù)英語信函在國際貿(mào)易中應(yīng)用廣泛,“商務(wù)英語信函是國際貿(mào)易買賣雙方用于聯(lián)系業(yè)務(wù)、溝通商訊、咨詢答復(fù)的主要途徑和通訊手段,其主要作用在于:(1)索取或傳遞信息:(2)報盤或接受報盤;(3)處理業(yè)務(wù)磋商的各種問題?!?/p>
商務(wù)英語信函種類繁多,按其功能具體可以分為:詢價函、報價函、通知函、允諾函、收款函、索賠與理賠函等。
三、商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)
商務(wù)英語信函寫作在跨文化商務(wù)活動中占據(jù)重要地位,因而,商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)在商務(wù)英語學(xué)習(xí)過程中是關(guān)鍵的不可或缺的組成部分。在商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)過程中貫穿始終的兩個要點(diǎn)是商務(wù)英語信函的特點(diǎn)和商務(wù)英語信函寫作應(yīng)遵循的原則。
1.商務(wù)英語信函的特點(diǎn)
“在跨文化商務(wù)交際中,我們會寫各式各樣的信函,比如推薦信、申請信、感謝信以及推銷產(chǎn)品的信函等。在寫這些信時,我們也要顧及到對方的語言差異、文化差異以及審美情趣差異。這些差異都會影響你這封商務(wù)信函是否成功?!?/p>
因此,掌握商務(wù)英語信函的特點(diǎn)進(jìn)行寫作尤為重要。
商務(wù)英語信函寫作具有如下特點(diǎn):
(1)專業(yè)性。商務(wù)英語信函在跨文化商務(wù)交際中是重要的書面交流工具和手段。在商務(wù)英語信函書寫過程中,主要使用商貿(mào)術(shù)語,如詢盤、報盤等都需要用語專業(yè)恰當(dāng)?!吧虅?wù)信函用詞表意準(zhǔn)確、專業(yè)性強(qiáng),主要表現(xiàn)在兩個方面:一是商務(wù)英語詞匯有大量的專業(yè)術(shù)語;二是商務(wù)英語詞匯中有很多來自普通英語,卻被賦予特定的專業(yè)內(nèi)涵。”無論是商務(wù)英語的專業(yè)術(shù)語,還是被賦予特定專業(yè)內(nèi)涵的普通英語,在商務(wù)英語信函寫作過程中,一定要保證選對詞,用對意。
(2)時效性。在跨文化商貿(mào)交際中,一定要注意商貿(mào)信函的時間和效率,并且要結(jié)合交易雙方的文化背景和習(xí)俗,并且考慮到交易雙方所處的時區(qū)的差異,避免會錯意或發(fā)出誤導(dǎo)信息。
(3)準(zhǔn)確性。商務(wù)英語信函的書寫用語一定要規(guī)范準(zhǔn)確,措辭時要充分考慮到對方的語言和文化背景,避免產(chǎn)生歧義,否則可能會造成誤解甚至產(chǎn)生負(fù)面影響。
(4)用語簡明易懂。商務(wù)英語信函寫作通常簡單、明了、主題明確,寫作應(yīng)避免繁瑣拖沓,這樣才能保證對方理解信函的目的,并快速做出判斷或決定,過多的使用套話沒有任何意義,反而容易使對方陷入困惑而不利于商務(wù)活動的順利進(jìn)行。
(5)禮貌性。商務(wù)英語信函寫作通常語氣十分禮貌與委婉,在表達(dá)清楚信函的寫作目的的同時,還要注意措辭的禮貌,這樣才有利于促進(jìn)交易的順利進(jìn)行。此外,“無論是什么形式的商務(wù)英語信函寫作,都需要體現(xiàn)一個很重要的原則:‘You―Attitude’。也就是處處為對方著想,讓對方感到親切,與對方拉近距離,使其感覺到要傳達(dá)的信息更易于接受?!?/p>
2.商務(wù)英語信函寫作應(yīng)遵循的原則
基于商務(wù)英語信函的以上五個特點(diǎn),商務(wù)英語信函寫作應(yīng)遵循“7C”原則,即禮貌原則(Courtesy)、體諒原則(Consideration)、完整原則(Completeness)、清楚原則(Clarity)、簡潔原則(Conciseness)、具體原則(Concreteness)、正確原則(Correctness)。也就是說,在商務(wù)英語信函寫作過程中,要注意措辭禮貌,體諒對方,表意完整、清楚、簡潔、具體和正確,只有遵循了這七個原則,才能被稱作一篇成功的商務(wù)英語信函。
3.商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)
為提高商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)效果,可以采用詞匯法,情境法以及找錯法進(jìn)行商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)。
(1)詞匯法。即為了便于學(xué)生記憶,將商務(wù)英語信函寫作常用詞匯進(jìn)行分類歸納。
(2)情境法。即在教學(xué)中,設(shè)定商務(wù)英語信函寫作的各種情境,給同學(xué)們布置寫作任務(wù),如將學(xué)生分組,有寫信函的小組,有回復(fù)信函的小組,這樣可以充分調(diào)動學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)的積極性,便于學(xué)生進(jìn)入情境,順利完成商務(wù)英語信函寫作,提高寫作水平。
(3)找錯法。即在網(wǎng)上或平時學(xué)生的信函寫作中找到具有代表性的錯誤,讓同學(xué)們來找出錯誤,分析錯誤原因,并改正錯誤,這樣加深學(xué)生們的印象,有利于避免在商務(wù)英語信函寫作中犯類似的錯誤。
四、結(jié)論
綜上所述,在商務(wù)英語信函寫作教學(xué)過程中要提醒學(xué)生們牢記商務(wù)英語信函的特點(diǎn),遵循“7C”原則,這樣才能在跨文化商務(wù)交際實(shí)踐中順利完成商務(wù)英語信函寫作,為商務(wù)活動的順利進(jìn)行以及交易的達(dá)成保駕護(hù)航。

(二)要長話短說,避免羅嗦
通常商業(yè)人士每天需要閱讀大量的書信,對開門見山,長話短說,直接切題的信特別歡迎。因此,寫信要力求長話短說,刪去不必要的形容詞,如下列句子中的形容詞或副詞刪去后并不影響句子的原意: The proposal is under(active)consideration.The answer is(definitely)correct.I would(rather)think the fare is too high.The(true)facts are as stated.(三)要注意每句句子的長短
例如:“We would like to know whether you would allow us to extend the time of shipment for twenty days, and if you would be so kind as to allow us to do so, kindly give us your reply by cable without delay.” 這句話過分“客氣”,使句子過長而不清楚。內(nèi)容要求對方同意延期交貨20天,一般情況下,應(yīng)盡可能提出延期到那一
天的具體日期。這句話可壓縮為:“Please reply by telegram immediately if you will allow us to delay the shipment until April 21.”(如同意我們把交貨延期到四月二十一日,請電復(fù)。)
有的作者為了使人們記住避免使用陳舊的商業(yè)術(shù)語,專門選擇了一些他認(rèn)為陳舊的商業(yè)術(shù)語搞成一首詩: We beg to advise and wish to state That yours has arrived of recent date.We have it before us, its contents noted;Herewith enclosed are the prices we quoted.Attached please find, as per your request, The data you wanted;and not let us suggest Your order be sent, and not held unduly, We beg to remain, yours most truly.COURTESY譯成“禮貌”。但是根據(jù)西方國家函電書籍作者普遍的看法,所謂COURTESY是“客氣而又體諒人”的意思。有的作者還把 COURTESY和POLITENESS這兩個同義詞做了比較,認(rèn)為:POLITENESS的客氣只是表現(xiàn)在文章的語句上,而COURTESY則表現(xiàn)在對對方的“體諒”,例如:

怎樣通過各種語言形式來表達(dá)COURTESY呢? 這樣的形式很多,現(xiàn)在提供一些常見的供參考:
(一)把命令變成請求的常用形式:

b)Will you please(kindly)let us hear from you on these two points?
(二)虛擬式(Past Subjunctive From)如:
a)Would you compare our sample with the goods of other firms?

(三)緩和用法(Mitigation)
為了緩和過分強(qiáng)調(diào)或刺激對方,常用: We are afraid, we would say, we may(or, might)say, we(would)think, it seems(or would seem)to us, we(would)suggest, as you are(or: may be)aware, as we need hardly point out等等表達(dá)法來緩和語氣,如:
