英語中俚語的應(yīng)用

摘要

俚語是現(xiàn)代英語中的重要組成部分，在越來越頻繁的對外交流中被人們廣泛應(yīng)用，由于中美兩國在文化背景上的差異形成了交流障礙，本人闡述了英語俚語的發(fā)展和準確翻譯以及靈活應(yīng)用的相關(guān)策略，抓住了英語俚語的行業(yè)特點，同時根據(jù)不同場合來靈活運用俚語促進雙方能順利交流。

Abstract

Modern English slang is an important part of the increasingly frequent international exchanges were widely applied, because the two countries the differences in cultural backgrounds to form a communication barrier, I described the development of English slang and accurate translation and flexible application of relevant strategies, seize the English slang of the industry characteristics, but also with flexible use of slang different occasions to promote the smooth exchange of the two sides

characteristics 俚語是一種鮮活的口語，表現(xiàn)力豐富，在社會生活中應(yīng)用廣泛。指民間非正式、較口語的詞句?！缎挛宕贰ぞ砣に拦?jié)傳·王彥章傳》中記載，“彥章武人不知書，常為俚語謂人曰：豹死留皮，人死留名！” 俚語亦作里語、俚言。外語中俚語slang;slang expression 指的是粗俗的口語，常帶有方言性。

一、英語俚語的重要性

英語是當(dāng)今世界一大語種，在國際上居有重要應(yīng)用地位。俚語在英語日常應(yīng)用中具有相當(dāng)比重，可謂十分豐富多彩。然而我國英語學(xué)習(xí)者大多由于缺少從多方面熟悉英語的條件，所以每每于交際、學(xué)習(xí)和翻譯英語時，常因俚語幾乎是盲點而甚難應(yīng)付。例如在上世紀80至90年代，我在美國幾所大學(xué)執(zhí)教期間，曾遇到過不少中國留學(xué)生。他們由于過去對英語俚語很少接觸，尤其對俚語之組合，往往只識其中之單詞而不知其義；并且由于一時不易找到相應(yīng)的辭書，而感到十slang, cultural background, communication barrier, industry

分困惑，難以應(yīng)對。這如同在國內(nèi)，有些外國的漢語學(xué)習(xí)者遇到廣為流行的滬語（吳方言）“白相”一詞一樣，二字雖然明明相識，但不知其義為“游玩”；又如不知“好白相”意即“好玩”；“白相人”又是指“流氓”等等。不過凡此不諳英語俚語，問題不在于中國留學(xué)生，因為我們國內(nèi)英語教學(xué)大多側(cè)重“應(yīng)試教育”，學(xué)生所學(xué)的多為傳統(tǒng)規(guī)范的英語，所得的知識也基本上是書本知識，就自然較難接觸到英語國家日常生活中不斷滋生和廣泛流傳的俚語，于是對俚語就難免甚感不易理解和運用。

鑒于目前在國內(nèi)缺乏這類較全面地介紹英語俚語的工具書，肖章同志所主編的這部《英漢俚語大詞典》是適時、必要和有意義的。這部辭書，由于具有收詞內(nèi)容豐富、范圍較廣、編寫體例和格式較簡潔明了、譯解和例句通俗易懂等諸多特點，因此定能便于讀者一查即得，使之成為國內(nèi)當(dāng)今較為實用和值得推薦的一部英語俚語工具書。

二、俚語的發(fā)展

按照語言的文體功能劃分，俚語屬于口頭用語中的非正式口語。在使用初期，俚語被劃分喂貶義詞，在《韋氏英語詞典》里被定義為“低級的，粗俗的和沒有意義的語言”，后來“粗俗的”，“低級的”字眼慢慢從俚語的定義中消失了。許多中外權(quán)威詞典都對俚語作了比較相近的解釋?！掇o海》中稱俚語是“通俗的口語詞，俗語的一種，常帶有方言性”。《簡明不列顛百科全書》把俚語注釋為一種非習(xí)慣用語，用以表達新鮮事物，或?qū)εf事物賦予新的說法。

18世紀以來，俚語的發(fā)展迅速。一些過去只能在下層社會流傳的俚語里，被一些上層人物選用。甚至一些著名的作家像狄更斯、吉普林在他們的文學(xué)作品中也常采用俚語，一戰(zhàn)后一些俚語詞更是傳播到社會各個階層，逐步成為現(xiàn)代英語詞匯中的一部分。

在當(dāng)代美國社會，俚語被越來越多的人接受并使用，在美國的平均詞匯中俚語約占百分之十。一些俚語已在英語詞匯中獲得地位，例如，flunk(不及格)、cut it out(停止、住嘴)、stand somebody up(失約)，以前被看作俚語，現(xiàn)在許多詞典里已經(jīng)把他們標為口語詞，還有一些已經(jīng)被承認為標準語言，比如sham, fun, bet, job等。

三、英語俚語的準確翻譯

隨著中國政治經(jīng)濟文化在世界的影響力不斷增強，中國同其他國家在各個領(lǐng)域的交流也在大幅度增加，作為世界通用語言，英語的影響日益擴大。兩位操不同語言的人在溝通時，翻譯是二者溝通的橋梁，它的主要任務(wù)就是把一方講話的意思形、神兼?zhèn)涞霓D(zhuǎn)達給另一方。俚語作為英語語言的重要組成成分，在英語翻譯中享有重要的地位。當(dāng)人們在使用俚語替代原本通常使用的普通詞匯時，俚語所傳達的交流意義不僅僅是交換，而是更多層次的信息交流，還有隱藏在俚語背后的情感交流。我們將介紹俚語在英語翻譯中的特點及其如何運用，英語俚語好的翻譯應(yīng)該具備淵博的知識較強的理解力，同時應(yīng)該熟悉該國的歷史文化、風(fēng)土

人情，這樣才能真確的翻譯出說話雙方的正確含義，有時甚至說出雙方向說卻沒能說出的內(nèi)容。美國俚語典型的非正式性和創(chuàng)新性增加了對其理解的難度，這就給翻譯工作帶來了挑戰(zhàn)。尤其是俚語在英漢翻譯過程中，只有抓住英語俚語行業(yè)性的特點、年齡階段鮮明的特點、一定的民族性特點和典型的地域性特點，體會原精神，忠實的傳達原文的意義，才能做到對英語俚語的理解與翻譯。

四、常用英語俚語要注意應(yīng)用場合和對象

現(xiàn)在英語已經(jīng)成為國際語言,“學(xué)好英語”已經(jīng)成為最基本的要求。那么“學(xué)好英語”之后怎么能更好地應(yīng)用英語,讓英語在不同的領(lǐng)域場合得到熟練、完美、巧妙的應(yīng)用,甚至達到一種“淋漓盡致”的狀態(tài),充分展現(xiàn)出一種語言的魅力,已經(jīng)成為英語語言界一個非常關(guān)注的問題。英語俚語在實際應(yīng)用中應(yīng)考慮到兩方面的因素：場合和對象。在莊重正式的場合，面對上級、長輩、貴賓時，要慎用或不用俚語。英語俚語是英語的一種非正式的語言，通常用在非正式的場合，所以在用這些俚語時一定要考慮所用的場合和對象，最好不要隨意用以下這些俚語。a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush 一鳥在手，勝似二鳥在林

a social butterfly 社交蝴蝶（善于交際，會應(yīng)酬的人）

五、有關(guān)美國俚語在實際中的應(yīng)用

講一口流利的英語代表了時尚人士的國際化,也為日后良好的工作奠定了一定基礎(chǔ),在大型外企中正確和優(yōu)美的應(yīng)用英語就意味著力量,所以我在這里和大家交流一下,由于是書面型式,發(fā)音在這里交流不了,但是大家可以通過和我的交流及我發(fā)布的影音多媒體來和我進一步交流發(fā)音,我在這里一般以歐美電影經(jīng)典對白為例和大家交流,但也會穿插一些歐美經(jīng)典的散文或是小說里的原話.如有不完善之處,希望大家給以指正!

It be the only way..........2)There were still situations in which I couldn't be certain my decision had been the right one, but I had learned to accept this as a constant problem for a surgeon, one that could never be completely resolved-and I could live with it.這句話經(jīng)典之處在于,稍作修改,就可應(yīng)用于面試或是工作上的交流,非常漂亮,說的也很有道理!

3)Once I had made a considered decision, I no longer dwelt on it.這句話同樣經(jīng)典,同樣出自一位著名醫(yī)生的經(jīng)典自述,但也常為外籍領(lǐng)導(dǎo)對下屬們向他建議時說的話

4)Reviewing it wasn't going to help and I knew that with my knowledge and experience, any decision I'd made was bound to be a sound one.這句話往往可以用在自己的日記里或記事里,這句話俚語性強,英語表現(xiàn)的比較地道

5)I knew that even if the case was one in which it was impossible to anticipate the problem in advance, I could handle whatever I found.這句很漂亮,它往往應(yīng)用于面試時自我介紹,或是在工作會議上,漂亮的回答外籍領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的提問,也充分體現(xiàn)了自已應(yīng)變突發(fā)事件的能力

6)I still dreaded errors-would do my best to avoid them-but I knew they were part of a surgeon's life.I could accept this fact with calmness because I knew that if I wasn't able to avoid a mistake, chances were that no other surgeon could have, either.這句英語出自一位美國著名醫(yī)師的自述,誰不會犯錯誤,這句英語說的非常地道,僅做修改往往可參考用于自已無意犯錯誤時對外籍領(lǐng)導(dǎo)的解釋,當(dāng)然我們還是要爭取做好手上的每一次事

7)What does this mean as far as our flying saucer program is concerned?'

出自一個美國小品,筆者認為什么都沒有一個絕對的標準,但這個句型在記者招待會上,或是在重大工作會議往往成了個標準

8)If all you say is true, won't this set back the flying saucer program several years?同樣出自一個美國小品,這句型往往常用于外籍領(lǐng)導(dǎo)對屬下的談話,或是在會議上發(fā)言

9)Neither believe nor reject anything because any other person has rejected or believed it.Heaven has given you a mind for judging truth and error.Use it.出自Thomas Jefferson對他的nephew寫的信的原話,Thomas Jefferson是美國第三任總統(tǒng),就是寫< Declaration of Independence>(獨立宣言)的那位

六、小結(jié)

俚語的存在及發(fā)展是一個客觀的語言現(xiàn)象。正確使用俚語，有助于提高我們的表現(xiàn)力和想象力，能活躍我們周圍的氣氛，增進與別人的感情交流。因此，我們應(yīng)該認識俚語，注意交談的場合、交談的內(nèi)容和交談的對象，切忌隨意濫用。學(xué)會恰當(dāng)?shù)氖褂觅嫡Z更是我們當(dāng)代大學(xué)生應(yīng)該注意的。

跟老外學(xué)習(xí)9種最地道的英語告白

to have a crush on(someone)； to feel an instant magnetism；

to catch one's eyes； to hit it off；to have the hots for(someone)；

to be attracted to each other.這些片語，都是描寫男女間互相傾慕，兩情相悅，有吸引力或一見鍾情。

例如：* He(she)has a crush on her(him)(他對她十分愛慕)。

* He felt an instant magnetism when their eyes met.（他們見面時，他立即感到磁性般的吸?。Ｒ庵概耐獗砦?如果是 she felt …… 那么就是指男的外表吸引。

* A nice-looking girl caught his eye.（漂亮的妞兒吸?。Ｗ⒁猓翰挥胑yes。

* He was introduced to a pretty woman and they seem to hit it off immediately.（他被介紹給一位漂亮女子後，他們似乎就一見鍾情）?；?/p>

* They were attracted to each other the moment their eyes met.* When he met her, he had the hots for her.（當(dāng)他見到她，他就對她愛慕不已。）(多半指 sexual attraction。)

例如說，女對男的沒有興趣，那么也可以說：

* She did not feel any attraction toward him.（她對他毫無興趣);或* He is the man for whom she feels no attraction, catch or no catch.（不管他的條件好或壞，她對他就是沒有興趣）。這里的 catch，可指財富、地位、名望和外表。

這些都是指男人英俊瀟灑，作風(fēng)奔放，野性旺盛，喜歡在「女人窩」里。例如：

* Mr.Lin has been considered a prince on a white horse.（林先生被認為是白馬王子。）這是中古時代女子對男人的夢中理想

現(xiàn)在也有老外認為美男子應(yīng)該是：全身盔甲燦爛光輝的王子。

* He is a prince in a shining armour.（動詞時態(tài)：shine, shone 或shined。）

* Many people think that Mr.Clinton is a real lady?s man.（或 a real womanizer）(許多人認為柯林頓先生喜歡在女人窩里。）

*As a casanova, he has many girl friends.（由於他是美男子，他有許多女友。）

（Casanova 是意大利人，據(jù)說是頂尖的美男子，他的全名是：Casanova deseingalt Giovanni Giacomo 在此 casanova 被當(dāng)做普通名詞，故 c不必大寫。

如果形容男人外表魅惑力大，能使女人「如饑似渴」般崇拜他，也可以說：

* He has melted her down and made her knees buckle.（他把她溶化了，使她拜倒他的西裝褲下）。這句話老外通常不用在男人身上，也許因為男子應(yīng)該比較堅強些吧！

* So many women swarmed him like bees to the honey.（許多女人看到他，就像一群蜜蜂見到蜜那樣蜂擁而至。）

倘若說：…… like flies to the garbage指像一群蒼蠅喜歡垃圾那樣，當(dāng)然就不是恭維了。to be a beauty queen;to be a dream boat;to be a cutie;to be a babe;

to be a fox.這些都是形容女人漂亮，曲線玲瓏，身材曼妙，揮身性感或散發(fā)一種性感的野性。例如：* She is a beauty queen.（= very beautiful）

* She is a cutie.（= pretty and attractive）（漂亮迷人）

* She is a dream boat.（= ideal type of woman）（理想女人）

* She is a babe.（= very beautiful and attractive）

* She is a fox.（= She is a foxy lady = She is sexy.）（她很性感）。

注意：如果說： She is as sneaky（或 cunning）as a fox.又是指她像狐貍一樣的狡猾。

假如女人能使男人拜倒她的石榴裙下或神魂顛倒那么就能說：

* Her beauty（attraction）has caused his knees to shake.（或 to quiver）（她的漂亮迷人使他膝部發(fā)抖）?；? She made him feel up there in the clouds.（= on clouds nine = on the top of the world）（她使他神魂顛倒，飄飄然如仙。）

其實，所謂「情人眼里出西施」（Beauty is in the eyes of beholder），世上的美或丑，只是主觀的看法而已。

to fall in love with（someone）；to fall head over heels in love;to love（someone）from head to toe.都是指男歡女愛，沉溺情海，或是愛得暈頭轉(zhuǎn)向。

例如：* They have fallen in love with each other for years.（他們相愛多年）。

（動詞時態(tài)：fall, fell, fallen）

* He fell head over heels in love with her.（= He fell for her head over heels = He is head over-heels in love withher.）（他與她沉溺情海，愛得暈頭轉(zhuǎn)向。）多半指很快落入情海。

* He loves her from head to toe.（他從頭到腳地愛她）。多指經(jīng)過較長時間後才熱戀, 或* He falls madly in love with her.至於男女熱戀時「目中無人」或「形影不離」，也可以說:

* They are two peas in a pod.（他們像豆莢里的兩粒豆子--即形影不離。）

* They only have eyes for each other（and forget the entire world.）（世界上似乎只有他們兩個人。）如何學(xué)說一口地道的美式口語

Potluck Party: 一種聚餐方式，主人準備場地和餐具，參加的人必須帶一道菜或準備飲料，最好事先問問主人的意思。

Pull over!把車子開到旁邊。Drop me a line!寫封信給我。

Give me a ring.= Call me!來個電話吧！For here or to go? 堂食或外賣。

cool;That's cool!等於臺灣年輕人常用的囗語“酷！”，表示不賴嘛！用于人或事均可。What's up? = What's happening? = What's new?

見面時隨口問候的話“最近在忙什么？有什么新鮮事嗎？”一般的回答是“Nothing much!”或“Nothing new!”

Cut it out!= Knock it out!= Stop it!少來這一套！同學(xué)之間開玩笑的話。

Don't give me a hard time!別跟我過不去好不好！Get yourself together!振作點行不行！Do you have “the” time? 現(xiàn)在幾點鐘？可別誤以為人家要約你出去。

Hang in there.= Don't give up.= Keep trying.再撐一下。

Give me a break!你饒了我吧！(開玩笑的話)Hang on.請稍候。Blow it.= Screw up.搞砸了。What a big hassle.真是個麻煩事。What a crummy day.多倒霉的一天。Go for it.加油 You bet.= Of course.當(dāng)然；看我的！Wishful thinking.一廂情愿的想法。

Don't be so fussy!別那么挑剔好不好。It's a long story.唉！說來話長。

How have you been? = How are you doing? 你過得如何？近來可好？

Take things for granted.自以為理所當(dāng)然。Don't put on airs.別擺架子。

Give me a lift!= Give me a ride!送我一程吧！Have a crush on someone.迷戀某人。

What's the catch? 有什么內(nèi)幕？Party animal.開Party狂的人(喜歡參加舞會的人)。

Pain in the neck.=Pain in the ass.討厭的東西、人或事。Skeleton in the closet.家丑

Don't get on my nerve!別把我惹毛了！Afat chance.=A poor chance.機會很小。

I am racking my brains.我正在絞盡腦。She's a real drag.她真有點礙手礙腳。

Spacingout.=daydreaming.做白日夢。I am so fed up.我受夠了！

It doesn't go with your dress.跟你的衣服不配。

What's the point? = What are you trying to say? 你的重點是什么？

By all means.=Definitely.一定是。Let's get a bite.= Let's go eat.去吃點東西吧！

I'll buy you a lunch(a drink;a dinner).= It's on me.= My treat.我請客

Let's go dutch.各付各的My stomach is upset.我的胃不舒服diarrhea [dai r'i ] 拉肚子

吃牛排時，waitor 會問“How would you like it ?” 就是問“要幾分熟？”的意思，可以選擇 rare，medium 或 well-done。I am under the weather.=I am not feeling well.我不太舒服！

May I take a rain check? 可不可改到下次？(例如有人請你吃飯，你不能赴約，只好請他改到下一次。)I am not myself today.我今天什么都不對勁！Let's get it straight.咱們把事情弄清楚！What's the rush!急什么！Such a fruitcake!神經(jīng)病！

I'll swing by later.=I'll stop by later.待會兒，我會來轉(zhuǎn)一下。

I got the tip straight from the horse's mouth.這個消息是千真萬確的(tip指消息)！

easy as pie = very easy = piece of cake 很容易。flunk out 被當(dāng)?shù)?。take french leave 不告而別。I don't get the picture.=I don't understand.我不明白。You should give him a piece of your mind.你應(yīng)該向他表達你的不滿。hit the road = take off = get on one's way 離開。

Now he is in the driver's seat =He is in control now。Keep a low profile(or low key).采取低姿態(tài)。Kinky =bizarre =wacky =weird 古怪的。klutz(=clutz)=idiot 白癡、笨蛋。

know one's way around 識途老馬。lion's share 大部份。tailgate 尾隨(尤其跟車跟得太近)。take a back seat.讓步。take a hike =leave me alone =get lost 滾開。hit the hay =go to bed 睡覺。Can you give me a lift? =Can you give me a ride? 載我一程好嗎？

green hand 生手、沒有經(jīng)驗的人。moonshine = mountain dew 指私釀的烈酒(威士忌)或走私的酒。胡說八道也可用moonshine。His story is plain moonshine。

chill out =calm down =relax(來自黑人英語)

rip off =steal;I was ripped off.我被偷了；rip off 也常被用為“剝奪”My right was ripped off.權(quán)利被剝奪(來自黑人英語)。我們稱美國大兵為G.I.(Government Issue)or GI Joe, 德國兵或德國佬為 Fritzor Kraut，稱英國佬為John Bull，日本人為Jap。或Nip，猶太人為Jew都是很不禮貌的稱呼。mess around(with)瞎混；Get to work.Don't mess around.趕快工作，別瞎攪和。snob 勢利眼。sneak in,sneak out 偷偷溜進去，溜出來。sneakers 運動鞋。

She is such a brown-noser.她是個馬屁精。This is in way over my head.對我而言這實在太難了。I am an exam jitter and I always get a cramp in my stomach.我是個考試緊張大師，一考試胃就抽筋。Keep your study(work)on track.請按進度讀書(工作)。

Did you come up with any ideas? 有沒有想到什麼新的意見？

Don't get uptight!Take it easy.別緊張，慢慢來！

Cheese!It tastes like cardboard.Cheese吃起來味如嚼臘！

Get one's feet wet.與中文里的“涉足”或“下?！?，寓意相同，表示初嘗某事。I am going to try dancing for the very first time.Just to get my feet wet。

衣服漂亮得電死人。

俚語(slang)，是一種并非能夠用常規(guī)翻譯思路翻譯的英語詞匯或句子，即一種所謂的“不標準詞匯”。俚語對于中國及其他非英語國家的學(xué)習(xí)著來說是個難點，但是它的作用卻是非同小可的。如果電影中、小說中、文章中多了一些俚語的修飾和加工，文章會增添豐富的色彩和感情，并且能夠更加形象化的表達作者的意思和文章的主旨，并且是其中情節(jié)更加生動活潑。它的使用不僅在電影、小說、散文中廣泛應(yīng)用，生活中人們的對話也少不了它的出現(xiàn)。

經(jīng)過查找相關(guān)資料，我了解到關(guān)于俚語的幾個特性和功用：

1、其構(gòu)成形式很多都不規(guī)范，有些俚語是省略或者縮寫的形式，有些是采用改變的詞或新造的詞語具有隨意性

2、其涵義復(fù)雜多變或者過分夸張、滑稽而不正式

3、俚語如時裝流行快，過時也快

電影中俚語的出現(xiàn)頻率是相當(dāng)高的，在翻譯的時候，翻譯者一般以兩種方式來解決對俚語的翻譯難題。一類是以表意功能為主，其主要功能是傳遞信息；另一類是以表達功能為主，通過一些特別的表達方式和詞匯，來表達劇中人物所表達的情感。僅僅概念性的說，電影中俚語的翻譯是沒法真正體會它的重要性和必要性，下面用我看過電影《功夫熊貓》作為例子來深入剖析電影中俚語的魅力。其中給我印象最深的是“Yesterday is a history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift, that is why it's called the present.”這句話，這是龜仙人桃樹下教導(dǎo)熊寶寶時的一句話。它的翻譯其實很簡單，我的翻譯是，昨天已經(jīng)成為歷史，明天還是一個謎團，但是今天是一份禮物，那就是為什么它被叫做當(dāng)下（禮物）。顯而易見，這句話的亮點在于present的運用，今天之所以是一份禮物，就在于present的兩個意思——禮物和現(xiàn)在。作者很巧妙地運用了它的兩個意思，而給予這句話以哲學(xué)意味，從而使之成為這部電影中給觀眾留下印象最深的一句話之一。同時這句話也是這部電影給我印象最深的一句話，這是電影中字幕的翻譯：昨天已成歷史，明天仍是未知，只有今天是上蒼賜予的禮物。這句話不論從中文角度賞析還是從英文角度賞析，都顯得生動且富含哲理，增添了劇中人物的教導(dǎo)說理性。再如劇中另一句話“I do not know milestone.But let's start from zero, zero.”我自己的翻譯是，我知道自己還有很多里程要走，那么讓我們從零開始吧。而字幕中的翻譯是，我離大師還有一段距離,從最基礎(chǔ)的開始吧，最基礎(chǔ)的。我覺得字幕的翻譯很好，有幾個亮點，首先是對于milestone的翻譯，它的本意是里程碑，而翻譯者把它結(jié)合語義翻譯成了“距離大師還有一段距離”，可以說翻譯得很生動，并沒用其本身的意思，是整個句子更加生動，劇中人物語氣更謙虛真實。就英文的角度，它并沒有運用我們所能夠想到的far away等詞組，而是生動的運用了里程碑一次，隱含的表達了句子的意思。第二個亮點就是對于重復(fù)zero的翻譯，它并沒有直接說從零開始，還是把它引申為最基礎(chǔ)，并且為強調(diào)基礎(chǔ)的重要性，翻譯者選擇了重復(fù)翻譯。對于原文來講，它并沒有用basic，base，basis等詞來表達意思，而是生動的運用了zero，這個既生動又簡單的詞匯，讓觀眾很清楚地明白它的所要表達的意思，并且運用重復(fù)的表達手法，強調(diào)其重要性。《功夫熊貓》是一部英語翻譯學(xué)習(xí)值得觀看的電影，里面的很多俚語運用得很巧妙，暫且以上面兩個例子來說明俚語運用的巧妙性，其作用是使得電影更加生動形象，用幾個英語單詞來形容它的好處：native and vivid。

小說中的英文俚語運用也是相當(dāng)廣泛的，如wee一詞的運用，它的意思是“極小的,很小的，很早的”。詞組“a wee bit”意為“一點兒”，它并沒有運用a little bit等詞來形容，而是運用俚語來修飾，使得文章更生動，并帶有本土語言文化特色。再如“the wee hours of the morning”是“凌晨一兩點鐘”的意思，它并沒有死板的運用凌晨時間的表達方法，而是運用一個早上很早的幾個小時來表達凌晨時分，很巧妙的應(yīng)用使文章表達生動不刻板。

俚語的運用是相當(dāng)廣泛的，如我們生活中所說的火上澆油，英文翻譯是“Adding fuel to the fire.”表達生動直接，也使對方很容易理解其意思；再如“Chow down.”的意思是吃飯，這是當(dāng)下最流行的一種表達吃飯意思的俚語，chow的本意是食物或者中國狗，而應(yīng)用到這個詞組中就變的更加生動形象，且增添了幾分趣味。我們都知道，英語中很多運用生物來更加形象表達人們所要表達的意思或者是某種狀態(tài)，a cat nap意為“打盹兒”，aouch potato意為“懶蟲”。由此可見，俚語在英語中廣泛應(yīng)用，它的出現(xiàn)帶給英語語言文化以色彩和生命，使得英語電影、小說、散文、詩歌，以至于生活更加生動活潑、妙趣橫生，通過對俚語的研究，我發(fā)覺俚語文化真的是妙不可言，并且其作用至關(guān)重要，要想學(xué)好英語，把英語翻譯的地道生動全面，俚語的學(xué)習(xí)和背誦是必不可少的。因此在未來的英語學(xué)習(xí)生活中，要注意加強對俚語的積累和背誦，并且慢慢學(xué)會在口語中英語，在翻譯中突破這個難點。
