一、合理分配時間，堅持學習絕不放松。學習英語貴在堅持。我們不需要每天花大量的時間去學習它，但是最好每天都能抽一定的時間(15—30分鐘)復習過去學過的單詞、短語，讀一、二篇短文，鞏固剛學的知識點。常見面就會永不忘。許多同學成績下降的原因就是缺乏學好的信心，不能做到持之以恒。他們沒有認識到學習英語的重要性，從而放松了英語的學習。時間長了，困難多了要想補上得費很大的勁。不能及時補上就會掉隊。所以一定要做到堅持學習絕不放松。

二、改進學習方法，爭取做到事半功倍。有些同學每天花大量時間背單詞、做練習，但成績卻并不理想。原因是什么呢?主要原因是學習方法不科學。生詞、語法規(guī)則、習慣用語都需要背會，但是最好把它們放到一個語境中去記，即“詞不離句，句不離詞”。那樣就會較長時間不忘并能正確運用。閱讀短文不僅要了解內(nèi)容細節(jié)、學會推理判斷，做到深層次理解，還應通過閱讀，復習和鞏固學過的單詞和語法規(guī)則，掌握新的句型，擴大知識面。有人認為練習做得越多越好，這也是一種誤解。正確的方法是：根據(jù)所學的知識點，選擇適量的練習去做。做一遍就能理解的沒必要做第二遍。另外，應該將每次練習時出現(xiàn)的錯誤記下來，通過復習，然后掌握。不懂的地方一定要及時問老師或同學。有的人不好意思問，結果問題越積越多，喪失了學好英語的信心。要知道科學的學習方法是做到事半功倍的前提和保證。

三、正確面對失敗，分析原因達到成功。在學習中經(jīng)常會出現(xiàn)這樣的情況：有的人初一名列前茅，初二卻掉到后面;有的人前幾次考試成績優(yōu)秀，后幾次卻不及格。應該說這些都是正常的現(xiàn)象，因為學習本身并不是一帆風順的。我們不能一見成績就沾沾自喜，更不能一遇失敗就垂頭喪氣。只有通過具體問題具體分析，找出失敗的原因，才能對癥下藥。學習退步的原因無非是：學習目的不明確，思想上不重視;學習動力不足，不愿刻苦學習;學習方法不好，費了不少勁成績不顯著;受到外界干擾等等。找到了自己的毛病，堅決改正，就會成功。

英語不難學，初二年級是關鍵。只要有努力學好的決心，不怕困難的信心，堅持到底的恒心，每個人都可以學好英語。

Ladies and Gentlemen: My topic is Honesty.As a correspondent of the Qingdao Morning News, I visited Dr.James Gilman, the President of the International Committee for Marco Polo Studies in England.In this picture, this is James, and this is me and we are looking at a dragon’s tooth.This is a true story.65 years ago, James lived in Qingdao.Then he was only 5 years old.He often visited the Aquarium and was fascinated by a creature on display there, which he thought was a dragon.He was afraid of its sharp teeth and wanted one to keep as a treasure.In the late 1930s, when the Japanese occupied Qingdao, his family had to leave.On his last day in Qingdao, he ran to the Aquarium and pulled out one of the teeth from the dragon’s mouth.He kept the tooth for the next 65 years, but the feeling of guilt at having stolen it was there in the background all through his life.It was always on his conscience, and the feeling intensified as he became older.Finally he decided to put right his childish error.In 2002, he visited Qingdao and returned it to the Aquarium with his sincere apologies.He received a warm welcome.When James visited Qingdao, I accompanied him all the time and reported on his visit.I was deeply touched by his honesty.It has taught me a lot.I think to err is human.The important thing is to have the courage to admit and correct one’s error.Honesty is a vital quality of human behaviour.So we should try to keep an honest mind in everything we say and do.I would like to say to all of my friends: Let’s be honest people of good moral character.Thank you.
