Be Different From Yourself!

Nowadays, people all over the world seem to be emphasizing the importance of being different from others.They say that difference from others makes you stand out, gives you an edge, brings you more chances and so on.I believe this is totally true.But we might have overlooked another kind of being different, that is, to be different from yourself.The concept of being different from the self emphasizes seeking innovations to improve yourself and making constant progress to transcend yourself.I suppose to be different from inside is even more important than to be different from the outside.It is because trying to be different from yourself directly results in essential improvement inside you whereas the efforts to be distinct from others are likely to stay in the superficial level.I would like to give a story to illustrate.I guess lots of you are using Nokia mobile phones, a famous brand from Finnland.But I dare say not many of you know how these phones came into being.When I was visiting Helsinki University in Finnland, a Finnish friend told me that Nokia was once a company engaged in making boots.And one day, when the highest leaders were discussing how to strengthen their company, one of them said “Let’s make something different!” And then, they began to make mobile phones.Today, Nokia is well known throughout the world for its phones but not for its shoes.I think if those leaders merely concentrated on how to make their boots different from other shoemakers’ products, they would never be so successful.To sum up, I would say that to be different from yourself is more important than to be different from others.As long as we concentrate on improving ourselves and constantly transcend ourselves, we will not and can not be the same as others.Excellence will make you stand out saliently.易見的, 顯著的, 突出的Should marriage be a lifelong commitment? 許諾, 承擔義務(wù), 約定

In today’s world, people especially the younger generation like me, are not taking a serious attitude towards the marriage.To them marriage has almost become a synonym of co-habitation.But in my opinion marriage should really be a life long commitment for 3 levels of reasons.The first level deals with the two persons that are directly involved in marriage.They are supposed to receive support and encouragement from each other through their life long struggle against troubles and frustrations.The second level deals with the child that is produced by the marriage.The children they have born need a stable family to grow up happily and healthily.The third level deals with the society.There is a famous American quotation: What is really important to a stable society is not what happens in the White House but what happens in your house.Why there are more and more people who decide to get out of marriage?

May I ask you a question first before I answer your question?

There is no rule without exceptions.Commitment actually imprisons people.Marriage is just a temporary relationship.Once the relationship is gone, 2 people should separate from each other and it’s easy for you to search a new life.Marriage doesn’t mean a life long imprisonment of your choices.You have a lot of choices.People in this society have choices.We are now exposed to choices.

keep chasing them, where is the end? What will satisfy us at last? Therefore, we can see, to get the real Success we must need something inside, which is the realization of people’ hopes and ideals.Different people have different ideas about success;cause people’s hopes and ideas vary from one another.But I am sure every success is dear to everybody, cause it is not easy to come by, cause in the process of our striving for success, we got both our body and soul tempted, meanwhile we are enlightened by the most valuable qualities of human beings: love, patient, courage and sense of responsibility.These are the best treasures.So now I am very proud that I have this opportunity to stand here speaking to all of you.It is my success, cause I raise up to challenge my hope.What is success?
