在新托福閱讀的考查中，每篇文章必會出現一類題，叫做“insert text questions”，即插入句子題(簡稱插入題)?？荚囍校忌鷷龅揭痪湓挘瑔栐摼洳迦胛闹心睦镒詈线m。如下面例題：

按照ets官方指南上的解析，這類題型重點考查英文句子間的邏輯語義關系，即英文中句子與句子是如何銜接在一起的。所以，只要掌握了英語句子間的銜接手法(cohesive devices)，這種問題便可迎刃而解。

那么，英文句子有哪些銜接手法呢？

主要分為以下四種。

1.代詞(pronouns)

具體包括人稱代詞、指示代詞和關系代詞等(personal, demonstrative, relative, etc)。在上下句的關聯中，代詞是最為緊密的一類詞。當作者再次談及上句相關話題時，為了避免重復，遵循語言學的最簡單化原理，作者會用代詞指代該話題詞。例如，speaking a foreign language is an enormous asset in the modern world.this is why so many junior high schools are now offering language classes。

today's teachers are faced with a stark choice.they must decide whether to teach in a way that helps student pass standardized exams or teach in a way that actually helps students learn。

2.定冠詞the + 名詞(specific articles+nouns)

名詞所指對象第一次出現時，用不定冠詞a連接，當后句再次提及該名詞對象時，為了表示它和前一句名詞是同一關系，會用定冠詞the引出。例如，a woman is walking into our classroom.the woman is our teacher。

3.重復話題詞或同義近義改寫(repetition, synonym, or slight

variation of a word)

上下句的銜接也可以通過重復話題詞實現，或者是對該話題詞進行相關改寫。例如，to foster healthy relationships between children in a classroom, teachers should provide time for games and fun activities.having healthy relationships with their peers helps children gain confidence useful in other parts of their lives.(重復話題詞)

before choosing a public or private school for their children,parents should take into account the cost.the price of a private school is usually much higher than that of a public school.(話題詞同義改寫)

4.過渡性詞和詞組(transitional phrases/transitional adverbs)

上面講到的三種句間關系屬于隱性關系。隱性關系通過上下句的語義關系體現?，F在，我們要講的是句子間的顯性關系，即通過明顯的邏輯連詞或副詞來體現句間關系。這些顯性關系詞包括以下類別。

4.1 時間關系

then, next, later, finally, etc。

4.2 因果關系

therefore, consequently, as a result, etc。

4.3 轉折關系

however, but, yet, nevertheless, on the other hand, etc。

4.4 解釋關系

that is, in other words, etc。

4.5 舉例關系

for instance, for example

劉老師：顧名思義，它就是把整個長句變短，提取其中的一些關鍵信息能力，包括邏輯和語義這兩塊。在托?？荚嚴锩孢@個題算比較“友好”的，其它題型比如細節(jié)題有很多種用法，簡化題永遠只有一種。沒上過課的人很可能就會把它的題目讀完，但其實這個題目根本就不用讀，它都是統(tǒng)一的問法。它問的就是以下那句可以最佳傳達我們陰影部分的意思，也就是提取陰影句的一個關鍵信息。

舉個例子，比如說津樂匯在打折，什么only在打折、什么布衣在打折等一系列的，我要去購物，在這里各品牌打折其實就是一個次要問題，學生就會覺得我就是沖著其中一個品牌打折去的，其實這是你的主觀想法，在英文里你需要sample來說誰在打折，所以在簡化的時候這部分信息就可以被省掉。

小編：句子簡化題在所有托福閱讀題型中比例占多少?

劉老師：比例的話現在的每篇肯定都會有一道，也就是3道題，這個題能占到1分，比例還是比較大的，不像詞匯題2~3個才占1分。

小編：句子簡化題屬于什么難度?

劉老師：這個的難度完全取決于你對句子的理解怎么樣，閱讀20分以下的同學做起來可能比較吃力，我也經常見到25、27分的同學面對這種句子還是有問題，在做題的時候對句子的結構把握可能還會存在一定問題。主要看你語法這塊句型掌握的怎么樣，知道誰是次要誰是關鍵，所以難度根據你對語法句型的掌握可大可小。如果你對句子感覺比較好，包括我教的很多學生上完課還會堅持做10~15句的長句分析，這樣長期下去肯定一眼看到長難句就很敏感。

小編：句子簡化題的正確解題步驟是怎樣的呢?

劉老師：第一步可以先去找句子的邏輯，因為邏輯就很像人體的脊椎一樣，負責把整個人串起來，句子也一樣。任何句子都會有一個大的框架，比如表示轉折的but，but前面一部分but后面一部分，大句就是一個轉折，然后在轉折句之下就會有它的語義。一個句子就是從邏輯和語義去構建的，所以解題的第一步一定是先找邏輯。還有一個原因就是在這個2~3行甚至是4行的英文句子里，邏輯算是比較突出的，因為表邏輯這類的詞but、however、eventhough等你不可能不認識，可能whereas這樣的詞不認識，但大多數還是沒問題的，這些都有助于你把這道題的難度降低。

第二步在看完邏輯之后至少可以幫你排除掉1~2個選項，剩下的2個就會有一個很接近，可能會和原句超級像，但這種一般都是錯的，它是用來迷惑你的嘛，這種時候就需要結合你自己對句子框架的理解，比如都是轉折關系，就需要你去匹配轉折前后的語義是否一一匹配。具體做的時候需要核對信息，一般錯誤選項里會去干擾你，正確選項可能會調整語序，但它的邏輯是對的。我們可以舉一例：

[句子簡化題~實例分析]

The extreme seriousness of desertification results from the vast areas of land and the tremendous numbers of people affected, as well as from the great difficulty of reversing or even slowing the process.Q：Which of the sentences below best expresses the essential information in the highlighted sentence in the passage? Incorrect choices change the meaning in important ways or leave out essential information.A：Desertification is a significant problem because it is so hard to reverse and affects large areas of land and great numbers of people.B：Slowing down the process of desertification is difficult because of population growth that has spread over large areas of land.C：The spread of deserts is considered a very serious problem that can be solved only if large numbers of people in various countries are involved in the effort.D ：Desertification is extremely hard to reverse unless the population is reduced in the vast areas affected.像這個句子可能很多學生都會有問題，它句子一長可能都會覺得這是一個復合句或并列句，但是我們判斷一個句子到底是什么句型是根據動詞判斷，這個句子只有一個動詞是result from，它表示原因，因果關系，再往下面就沒有動詞了。只有一個as well as，它是一個并列的關系，在遇見并列的時候我們要先去看的是后面，因為前面很可能有各種限定修飾給你隔開，后面是個from短語那前面一定是有from短語的。兩個from并列，所以原因有2個，也就是這句話最主要的邏輯就是因果，然后看選項里面誰有因果。

第一個、第二個有，第三第四都沒有，第三還有個極端詞only if，而原文中沒有極端詞我一定不要選它，原文中沒有的邏輯新出現了往往就是錯的。答案只能在前2個，這樣就排除掉2個選項。下面就是你要細讀這句子的框架去核對，剛才分析出來有2個原因，所以2個原因都要說，此外前面有個結論，沙漠化很嚴重原因有2個，一個是大量人口一個是扭轉難度大，那我們一一核對就可以。A是說沙漠化是個大問題，原文說很嚴重，意思變化不大，原因在于它很難扭轉，很難扭轉是第二原因里的，但這里是并列的，無所謂先說誰，除天道教育

非是那種先有第一個后有第二個的原因說法，所以答案就是它。如果你不確定還可以看B選項，看錯在哪里，它說減緩沙漠化進程很難，slowing down在哪里出現，在第二原因里出現，等于說把原因放到結論的位置了，而且它后面有because of，把并列的2個原因放成因果了。

如果沒有邏輯呢，其實考試中會遇到很多沒有邏輯的，或邏輯比較亂的，這種學生往往會問題比較大的。這個時候我們應該根據句子的語義去判斷，就要去看大的句子結構，如果是簡單句我們直接看主系表;如果是復合句那就要以主句為主，除非是I believe that..這樣的，主句是I believe就可以不被保留，因為它沒有實際太大的意義，所以這時候要以從句為主。

小編：句子簡化題中?？嫉倪壿嬯P系有哪些?

劉老師：常考的有轉折、因果、比較、條件，早些時候還有一些否定的，但否定主要是結合語義的，所以我們在講的時候不再歸到簡化句子里面去。還有就是表轉折的but、however完全可以在選項里被eventhough、although代替。

小編：也就是說其實句子簡化題大家是能保證100%正確率的。

劉老師：是的，當然可以，它有3個，而且3個里面一定至少有一個是有邏輯的。

小編：老師在教天道的學員們時，大家常犯的錯誤都有哪些?如何克服?

劉老師：通常就是單詞積累不夠，當然這不算錯誤，可能會被一些錯誤選項迷惑影響，誤以為我在簡化地時候就是100%地重現信息，其實不是這樣的，有一些細節(jié)完全可以被去掉比如such as或for example。還有就是在核對信息的時候，學生往往看到一種邏輯就很激動，比如but只有一個選項有就特別激動地去選了，根本不去思考對不對。大家在私底下做題的時候不太去分析錯誤選項，下次遇見的時候可能還會錯，有時候不清楚正確選項，但大家可以用排除法去做。

小編：最后請老師給大家一些平常訓練句子簡化題的方法!

劉老師：建議大家多做幾套，可以做前十套TPO，不用天天做，每天1小時就OK，主要是鞏固課上的學習成果，多見一些題型。還有很重要的是去寫自己的錯題分析，對完答案之后錯了要分析，這樣才會印象深刻，下次不會再犯。

在英文寫作里，狀語前置是一種相當常用的句式變換手法。

狀語前置就是把一個由副詞、介詞、現在分詞或者動詞不定式形成的小短語放在句首。這種句式最大的好處是讓你的句子產生了一種長短結合的跳躍的節(jié)奏感。

D倒裝是進步的階梯

倒裝這種語法現象同學們都學過，但經常想不到去積極使用。在新托福作文里如果找準機會用一次，會讓考官感到一股暖流涌上心頭。
