Distinguished guests, ladies and gentlemen, I am delighted to join today's luncheon for our travel trade partners from India and Hong Kong.To most of us in Hong Kong, Mumbai is not unfamiliar.The city is synonymous with the “Film City of India”.Bollywood is one of the largest centres of film production in the world and the movies find a ready market in Hong Kong.Several months ago, when I was attending an international conference on movies' impact on tourism in Hong Kong, I told the audience that movies, like travelling, allow one to take a snapshot of a different way of life.Indeed, both films and tourism appeal to our emotion, stimulate our imagination and indulge our fantasies.They are the true “dream factories”.As tourism operators, we work to make our clients' dreams come true.We help them live their fantasies during their travel, experiencing the magic first hand.Last year, Hong Kong received 29.5 million visitors.That means some 29.5 million people from all over the world have chosen to live their dreams in Hong Kong.And why? As Asia's world city, Hong Kong is a widely acclaimed tourist destination known for its international outlook, sophistication and diversity.We are the region's aviation hub with flight connections to some 150 cities, including major cities in India.We operate a liberal visa regime where the citizens of 170 countries/ territories can enter Hong Kong without a visa.This of course applies to Indian nationals who enjoy 14 days of visa-free access.Such travel convenience speaks for our desire to welcome friends from round the world to make Hong Kong your home or home away from home.To make Hong Kong fun and appealing, we have attractions that meet the needs of every visitor.For families, we have our two flagship theme parks, the Ocean Park and Disneyland;the spectacular Ngong Ping 360 cable car;and the world-famous Madame Tussads.And we must not forget, of course, our varied shopping and dining scenes which Hong Kong is renowned for.以下是由旅游事務專員方舜文，在演講午餐會為旅游業(yè)界在孟買，印度： 尊敬的各位來賓，女士們，先生們，我很高興能夠加入今天的午餐會，為來自旅游業(yè)界合作伙伴印度和香港。

華盛頓大學與中國有著廣泛的聯(lián)系。除了每年派遣近200名學生到中國留學以外，還招收300多名中國留學生和越來越多的訪問學者。2009年，有200多名研究人員代表中國一些頂尖的學術機構在華盛頓大學從事研究。我此次訪問中國，其實也蘊含了一層個人的意義。我父母都出生在中國，上個世紀30年代末移居美國。他們都曾在中國獲得了學位。我一直希望能來中國更好地學習中文，熟悉祖先的文化和歷史。

我為能代表華盛頓大學來進一步加強雙邊合作關系感到榮幸。我希望能開辟更多的與中國學術機構交流的渠道，并在埃莫特校長和漢森副教務長訪問的基礎上百尺竿頭，更進一步。

Washington university’s Provost Liz wise’s speech in China Ladies and gentlemen: First of all, please allow me to thank you all for your kind invitation to attend the party and your hospitality during my visit.Six days ago, we have gathered here.The memory of that scene still fresh in my mind.Today, at the end of my visit in China, I sincerely and happily get together with you and say goodbye.This was my first trip to China as a dean, though the visit is short, but it's effective.During my visit, I Updated and signed a memorandum of understanding(MoU)on cooperation with Sichuan University, Tsinghua University and Peking University.Washington University have extensive contact with China.In addition to send nearly 200 students to study in China each year, Washington University also recruited more than 300 Chinese students studying abroad and more and more visiting scholars.In 2009, there were more than 200 researchers who represented some famous academic institutions were engaged in researches in Washington University.My visit to China actually contains personal significance.My parents have born in China, and migrated to the USA in the last 1930s.They both have gotten a degree in China.And I want to come to China to learn Chinese better, and have an intimate knowledge of our ancestor’s culture and history all the time.It's my honor to represent Washington University to further strengthen Bilateral Cooperation.I hope that more channels can be opened up of communication with Chinese academic institutions, and I will make further progress on the basis of Emmott principal and Hansen Associate Provost's visit.Finally, may Chinese people happiness!May the friendship between our two peoples can be further strengthened!Farewell, friends!P17 Passage3（英譯漢）P76 Passage4（漢譯英）

Dear delegates, ladies and gentlemen: Beijing has invigorating weather and gorgeous scenery in October.The 15th World Tourism Organization General Assembly Session is grandly opening today.On behalf Chinese government, I’d like to show our sincerely welcome to dear guests and also send my congratulations to the session.Tourism is a joyful activity with sightseeing, entertainment and fitness which keeps developing with the progress of time.Since the middle of the 20th century, modern tourism is rising rapidly all over the world with the growing number of tourists and extending the scale of tourism industry stably.The position of tourism economy has increased obviously.Tourism is becoming a way to exchange culture, build up friendship and extend contact which is more and more widely influential to human life and social progress.China is a huge eastern country with profound history, abundant cultures, time vitality and lots of gorgeous natural resources, beautiful scenery, 56 minorities that have different features.There have been 29 World Cultural Heritage sites and World Natural Heritage sites so far.With the advance of reform and opening policies, modernization construction grows rapidly, city and country has taken on a new look.Ancient China's glory adds radiance and charm to modern China's boom.All of these provide a favourable condition to the development of tourism of home and abroad.The first 20 years of the 21st century is an important strategic opportunities to build a moderately well-off society in an all-round way, accelerate the construction of socialist modernization, and also a golden period for the development of Chinese tourism.We will develop tourism as a major industry of Chinese national economy, protect and use tourism resources reasonably, take efforts to achieve the sustainable tourism development.Chinese government welcomes friends all over the world to visit China.We will try our best to secure the health and safety of visitors, and encourage more Chinese citizens to go abroad.We are willing to carry out extensive cooperation with other countries to promote the development the tourismof world.The World Tourism Organization has made positive and effective work to accelerate the prosperity and development of the world tourism these years.We’d like to express our sincere congratulations to the World Tourism Organization who has been a specialized agency of the United Nations recently.We believe that this session will play an important role in the prosperity and development of the world tourism.Wish the 15th World Tourism Organization General Assembly Session complete success!

以并不光彩的成績走進縣里最好的中學—XX中學。我對自己的要求只有四個字——腳踏實地。中考的教訓，讓我懂得了什么叫腳踏實地，什么叫不圖虛榮，什么叫謙虛謹慎??高中三年，我努力夯實學科基礎知識、掌握學習方法、提高操作實踐能力。同時，利用課余時間廣泛地涉獵大量書籍，不但充實了自己，而且培養(yǎng)了自己多方面的技能。XX中學嚴謹?shù)膶W風塑造了我樸實、穩(wěn)重的學習態(tài)度，更重要的是在這樣一個精英云集的地方，我學會了在競爭中挑戰(zhàn)自我，在合作中欣賞他人。這樣一步一個腳印走來，我嘗到了成功的喜悅：成績逐年上升，并且我在2010年全國數(shù)學奧林匹克競賽中獲得了山東省三等獎的好成績。我看到了自己身上蘊藏著的無限潛能，它讓我相信——如果給我一個支點，我也能撬起整個地球！

參加自主招生就是想給自己一個機會，尋找一個“支點”，助我實現(xiàn)人生的理想。楊福家教授這樣解釋大學：大學有大樓、大師、大

愛。在我的眼中，大樓，不一定指高樓大廈，只是大學應當擁有超出基礎教育的完備設施；大師，并不一定要有顯赫的名聲，只是應當有獨立的思考，自由的學術，能夠在精神和學術上引領學生成長；大愛，不僅僅是銘刻在石碑上的生硬的字句，更是融入整個校園的一種追求自由、努力創(chuàng)新、探究真理的人文氛圍。我與中國海洋大學雖未有太多直接接觸，但神交已久，夢想已久。我是深深地向往著中國海洋大學的－－這也讓我忽而想起一句稼軒詞來： “我見青山多嫵媚，料青山、見我應如是?！?/p>

中國海洋大學在風雨征程中養(yǎng)育了屬于自己的精神，“海納百川，取則行遠”是中國海洋大學人的精神地標。大學，當屬于這樣的大學，它是我夢想中的大學。

我的大學夢，只是我眾多夢想中的一個，但是它卻又站在我人生重要的十字路口，注定要對我未來的生活起舉足輕重的作用。假如人生是由一塊塊磚石一層層搭建上去的階梯，那么處在這個時代，大學這一塊磚石很大程度上決定了一個人的人生軌跡。我選擇中國海洋大學是經(jīng)過了慎重的考慮，我相信中國海洋大學是一所能夠將我?guī)先松硐敫叻宓拇髮W。同樣的，我也相信當中國海洋大學選擇了我，假以時日它將為我而自豪。進入中國海洋大學后，我會在專業(yè)課的學習上精益求精，廣泛涉獵，跨學科選修，全面充實自己。大學并非我人生的終極目標，它將是一個新的起點。伴隨著我的大學夢，我將以大學為原點，畫一個很大的圓，將我的人生畫得闊大飽滿，讓我的人生與更多的人結緣，為更多的人服務。

口譯與記憶

——以《胡錦濤在上海世博會歡迎晚宴上的祝酒辭》為例

從心理學的角度上，人們把記憶分為短時記憶（STM）和長時記憶（LTM）。從字面意義上講，短時記憶就是在短時間內(nèi)記住信息，它不需要利用任何神經(jīng)機制來為以后提取此信息而加強記憶。長時記憶是指利用神經(jīng)系統(tǒng)儲存信息，這些信息與數(shù)據(jù)能在數(shù)周、數(shù)月、乃至幾年后仍舊記憶猶新（曾傳生，2010）。無論是同聲傳譯或是交替?zhèn)髯g，記憶能力，尤其是短時記憶能力都顯得尤為重要。

口譯是以短時記憶為中心的語言活動?？谧g的過程大致可以概括為四步：獲取源語言信息，存儲信息，提取信息，轉換成目的語。其中，該過程的前三步，都與短時記憶息息相關。在同傳或交傳的過程中，譯者主要借助短時記憶，利用聽覺及語義存儲信息、處理信息，并最終轉換信息。Peterson（1959）的研究表明，他所實驗的短時記憶能持續(xù)6到12秒。口譯的特點也決定了譯員必須要充分利用短時記憶。此次口譯活動結束，譯員會接到可能內(nèi)容風格可能完全不同的口譯任務，此時，這個翻譯任務所涉及的內(nèi)容、主題和發(fā)言人會截然不同。因此，短時記憶是譯員所需要的最基本的記憶技能。

祝酒辭應屬商務口譯的范疇。商務口譯存在傳播的“生活形式” 以及口譯傳播的“及席性”的特點。而這些特點也往往造成了對口譯傳播與意義表達的制約（朱錚錚，2009）?！逗\濤在上海世博會歡迎晚宴上的祝酒辭》中，也大致體現(xiàn)了商務口譯的一些特點。但對于國家領導人在如此重要的場合下所做的祝酒辭稿件，譯者必定是事先對原稿有了比較詳盡的了解。盡管如此，該祝酒辭依然蘊含著生活化與即席性的特點。例如，在此祝酒辭的最后，胡錦濤主席提議“為舉辦一屆成功、精彩、難忘的世博會，為世界人民的團結和友誼，為人類文明發(fā)展進步，為各位嘉賓和家人身體健康，干杯”這部分，便體現(xiàn)了生活化與即席性的特點。

口譯活動依賴譯員的短時記憶能力，但并不表示譯員的長時記憶不發(fā)揮作用。長時記憶里儲存的是平時積累的生活常識、專業(yè)知識、各種經(jīng)歷等，其容量是無限的。信息在此儲存的時候見響度較長，有的內(nèi)容甚至終身不忘（賀煜，肖穎，李紀超，2009）。長時記憶，是一個需要不斷學習的過程。譯員的語言知識、文化知識等的系統(tǒng)儲備，對口譯也是至關重要的。例如，在這篇祝酒辭中，出現(xiàn)

1了我國國家領導人經(jīng)常會提及的我國經(jīng)濟社會等各項發(fā)展必須走的道路及必須堅持的原則，即“中國將高舉和平、發(fā)展、合作旗幟，始終不渝地走和平發(fā)展道路，始終不渝奉行互利共贏的開放戰(zhàn)略，堅持在和平共處五項原則的基礎上同所有國家發(fā)展友好合作，同各國人民一道推動建設持久和平、共同繁榮的和諧世界?！贝颂幍姆g質量，就完全取決于譯者的長時記憶。即譯者是否具備扎實穩(wěn)妥的基本功以及充足的知識儲備，尤其是譯者是否了解對國家發(fā)展戰(zhàn)略等問題的慣用翻譯方法。除此之外，長時記憶還適用于一些常用固定搭配以及習慣表達等方面。例如祝酒辭中提到的取長補短(learn from each other and draw on each other’s strengths)、書寫…的新篇章（add a new chapter to…）、注冊類世博會（the registered World Expo）、國際展覽局（the International Exhibitions Bureau BIE）、搭起…的橋梁（…serve as a bridge）、秘書長（Secretary General）等等。

在上學期短暫的口譯實踐中，個人認為，口譯的幾大難點在于對源語言的理解，在于短時記憶能力有限以及專業(yè)術語乃至語言點掌握不足等三個方面。鐘述孔在其所著的實用口譯手冊（修訂版）中指出, “An interpreter must realize from the very beginning of his training that it is always memory on the basis of correct comprehension that plays the major role in ensuring accuracy in interpreting, not note-taking”(p.42, 1994).由此可見，對源語言正確及時的理解輔以較強的短時記憶能力，對準確高效的口譯實踐，意義重大。

國家領導人在比較正式的國際場合講話，慣用較長的排比句式，乍一聽，會感覺到一種句式復雜句子冗長的特點，其實仔細分析下來，我們可以發(fā)現(xiàn)，排比式的長句子翻譯起來還是有規(guī)律可循的。這就需要在正確理解大意的基礎之上，合理安排分配短時記憶，并借助筆記的輔助功能。例如，在《胡錦濤在上海世博會歡迎晚宴上的祝酒辭》中，第一段有這樣的表達：“我謹代表中國政府和人民，對各位嘉賓蒞臨上海世博會，表示熱烈的歡迎！對給予上海世博會真誠幫助和大力支持的各國政府和人民，對國際展覽局和有關國際組織，對所有為上海世博會作出貢獻的朋友們，表示誠摯的謝意！”聽完這段話，單純依靠短時記憶就能準確無誤地翻譯出來是基本不可能的，但在聽的過程中，我們不難發(fā)現(xiàn)，整段話需要特別記憶的，無非就是歡迎的對象以及感謝的對象。但是，需要特別注意的是，記住歡迎以及感謝的對象貌似也不太容易，那在聽的過程中，就盡量摒除起修飾

作用的定語部分，簡化的結果就是，歡迎蒞臨者，感謝各國政府和人民，感謝國際展覽局和有關國際組織。

在口譯實踐的過程中，由于短時記憶能力有限，經(jīng)常會出現(xiàn)信息缺失的情況。即，短時記憶的內(nèi)容轉瞬即逝。綜合其原因，一方面，可能是受到同時接受的信息的干擾，另一方面，可能是由于時間的推移使得信息退出記憶而導致的短時記憶衰退（曾傳生，2010）。短時記憶容量有限，Miller(1956)在其論文《神秘數(shù)字7加或減2》中就論述了，短時記憶大概是7加或減2個單位。短時記憶的另一個特點便是，它把信息的聽覺形式保留下來（賀煜，肖穎，李紀超，2009）。

記憶，尤其是短時記憶在口譯中的作用十分重要。對譯員進行加強短時記憶的訓練是十分必要的。短時記憶的目的是為了幫助譯員更好地理解源語言，進而使譯員的譯語準確到位（曾傳生，2010）。曾傳生在其所著的《英語同聲傳譯概論》中，提到了四種記憶訓練的方法。分別是，歸類：對同一特質的物品進行歸類；歸納：從文中所給的特定的例子或者信息中進行總結歸納；比較：關注事物的不同之處和相同之處；描述：描述一個場景，一種形狀，或者一個事物的大小，等等。如果以《胡錦濤在上海世博會歡迎晚宴上的祝酒辭》為訓練范本，以上四種記憶訓練方法在原文的翻譯過程中也是可以借鑒的。例如，原文中“世博會是薈萃人類文明成果的盛會，也是世界各國人民共享歡樂和友誼的聚會”這是一句由兩個分句組成的完整句子。兩個分句的相同之處便在于世博會是盛會是聚會，不同之處便在于盛會與聚會的修飾成分。因此，在聽這段話的過程中，顯然要更加注重對修飾成分的記憶與理解。

通過上學期短暫的口譯實踐，我意識到，雖然譯者的聽、說、讀、寫、譯等綜合能力和專業(yè)知識能力對做好口譯起關鍵作用，但對信息的有效記憶則是實現(xiàn)成功口譯的必經(jīng)之路。在正確理解源語言信息的基礎上，做到有效的短時記憶與口譯筆記相互補充，才能真正獲取口譯段落的完整信息。因此，做口譯的過程，就是一個長時記憶與短時記憶相互結合，相互輔助的過程。以正確及時地理解信息的真實意義為前提，在結合自己已有的、儲存在大腦中已達到長時記憶中的語言知識、跨文化知識、跨學科知識的基礎上，恰當運用語言的分析、歸納、分類等技巧，同時盡量摒棄信息中的非主要部分，從而將信息最清晰地、牢固地儲存在大腦中，形成對信息的有效記憶，以期圓滿完成口譯任務。
