On July 29,2005 Dr Mike Brown of the California Institute of Technology announced the discovery of a new planet in the solar system.The planet, which hasn’t been officially named yet, was found by Brown and his colleagues in California.It is currently about 97 times farther from the sun than Earth.This places the new planet more or less in a dark realm beyond Neptune where thousands of small icy bodies orbit the sun.The planet appears to be typical of such objects — only much bigger.Its sheer size in relation to the nine known planets means that it can only be calssified as a planet itself, Brown says.The planet was also discovered by two other astronomers, Chad Trujillo in Hawaii, and David Rabinowitz of Yale University.They first photographed the new planet on October 31, 2003.the object was so far away, however, that its motion was not detected until they reanalyzed the data in january of this year.In the last seven months, the scientists have been studying the planet to better estimate its size and its motions.This new planet is the largest object found in orbit around the sun since the discovery of Neptune and its moon Triton in 1846.It is larger than Pluto, which was discovered in 1930.The planet’s temporary name is 2003 UB 313.a permanent name has been proposed by the discovers to the International Astronomical Union, and they are waiting for the decision of this body before announcing the name.Passage 2

Scripts: a solar eclipse
On May 28 in 585 BC the Medes, who were from what is now northern Iran, were in battle with the Lydians who lived in what is now Turkey.To the horror of both sides, the sun disappeared.The war had been going on for five years, but the Meedes and Lydians were so frightened at this ill omen that they made peace.Today, astronomers are able to explain such disappears of the sun.on its trip around the earth, if the moon passes directly between the sun and the earth, then it prevents rays of the sun from reaching the earth and causes a temporary darkening.This is what is known as a solar eclipse.A solar eclipse can last as long as seven and a half minutes.During the 20th century 228solar eclipses, mostly partial ones, have taken place.In 1991, there was a total eclipse of the sun.because the moon passed directly in the line of sihgt between the sun and the earth, its shadows spread a path of darkness across the land.This path extended from Hawaii to South America in what astronomers called “the Eclipse of the Century.”
Instead of being frightened by the eclipse as had ancient peoples, people flocked to Hawaii and Mexico to view the awesome sight.Scientists viewed the eclipse from an observatory on a volcanic peak in Hawaii.In the continental United States, however, only a partial eclipse occurred.Unfortunately, as a result of a cloud cover, this partial eclipse was barely visible.Interesting things happened during the 1991 eclipse.For example, animals in a zoo in Mexico City headed into their dens when the eclipse began.When sun reappeared, roosters crowed as if it were morning.And light-sensitive lamps flickered on at the beginning of the eclipse and flickered off at the end.Part D:

【摘要】 隨著大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)改革的實(shí)施,以及社會(huì)的快速發(fā)展,傳統(tǒng)的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)方法,已日漸顯出弊端。最為突出的問(wèn)題就是在實(shí)際教學(xué)中忽視學(xué)生實(shí)用英語(yǔ)能力的提高,“聾子英語(yǔ)”及“啞巴英語(yǔ)”現(xiàn)象普遍。因此探索、研究提高聽說(shuō)能力的教學(xué)方法,創(chuàng)新教學(xué)觀念和教學(xué)內(nèi)容,成為大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)自身改革和發(fā)展的需要。

當(dāng)前大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)中還存在不少問(wèn)題,英語(yǔ)教學(xué)難以適應(yīng)社會(huì)變革和發(fā)展需要。從新世紀(jì)高等教育人才培養(yǎng)發(fā)展戰(zhàn)略高度看,最為突出的問(wèn)題就是在實(shí)際教學(xué)中對(duì)學(xué)生英語(yǔ)綜合應(yīng)用能力的培養(yǎng)不夠重視。特別是面對(duì)四、六級(jí)改革以及社會(huì)的新需求,原來(lái)的應(yīng)試教育已暴露出各種弊端,學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)缺乏主動(dòng)性;同時(shí)由于某些學(xué)校教師對(duì)四、六級(jí)考試認(rèn)識(shí)不到位,把重點(diǎn)放到了片面追求通過(guò)率和應(yīng)付考試上,為考而教,為考而學(xué),在教學(xué)中忽視了學(xué)生實(shí)用英語(yǔ)能力的提高,造成普遍的“聾子英語(yǔ)”及“啞巴英語(yǔ)”現(xiàn)象。英語(yǔ)教學(xué)費(fèi)時(shí)多,效率低,所以各方面對(duì)深化英語(yǔ)教學(xué)改革的呼聲極為強(qiáng)烈。
因此改革大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)模式,創(chuàng)新教學(xué)觀念和教學(xué)內(nèi)容,勢(shì)在必行。如何提高高校大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)水平,尤其是聽說(shuō)能力的提高,創(chuàng)新性地開展教學(xué)工作,培養(yǎng)大學(xué)生的綜合素質(zhì),成為當(dāng)前高校大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)探討的一個(gè)重要問(wèn)題。研究英語(yǔ)聽說(shuō)能力新教學(xué)方法的目的和意義
隨著改革開放步伐的加快,中國(guó)與外部世界的聯(lián)系更為密切,英語(yǔ)不僅僅是人們交流和溝通的工具,更重要的它還是提升國(guó)際競(jìng)爭(zhēng)力的手段。在國(guó)際交往中,英語(yǔ)被廣泛使用,已成為一種世界上相對(duì)通用的語(yǔ)言。因此,進(jìn)一步深化大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)改革已迫在眉睫、勢(shì)在必行。針對(duì)大學(xué)英語(yǔ)的改革,研究提高聽說(shuō)能力的方法,是我國(guó)經(jīng)濟(jì)社會(huì)發(fā)展、高等教育發(fā)展的需要,也是大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)自身改革和發(fā)展的需要。
其次,從人才培養(yǎng)角度考慮,隨著我國(guó)教育由應(yīng)試教育向素質(zhì)教育的轉(zhuǎn)變,外語(yǔ)教學(xué)的目的也應(yīng)該越來(lái)越突出培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的外語(yǔ)交際應(yīng)用能力。英語(yǔ)課堂是教學(xué)的主要場(chǎng)所,它的質(zhì)量直接影響著教學(xué)的質(zhì)量,學(xué)生應(yīng)用語(yǔ)言的綜合素質(zhì)。改革傳統(tǒng)的以教師為中心的課堂教學(xué),提高教學(xué)質(zhì)量是每一位教師關(guān)心的問(wèn)題。把握高校大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)創(chuàng)新的理論基礎(chǔ)和實(shí)踐應(yīng)用,在素質(zhì)教育的今天,有著重要的意義。提高聽說(shuō)能力的探索
3.1 提高聽力能力 四、六級(jí)改革后,聽力部分比例和題量大大提高,聽力材料涉及對(duì)話、講座、廣播電視節(jié)目,內(nèi)容形式更多樣化,這充分反映了提高聽力能力的重要性。聽力是決定英文水平的要件,它反映了一個(gè)人的英語(yǔ)交流能力。
聽的能力是在聽的實(shí)踐中提高的。任何理論的講解都是輔助性的。在教學(xué)中要讓學(xué)生明白以下幾點(diǎn):(1)熟能生巧。在教學(xué)的過(guò)程中,積極鼓勵(lì)學(xué)生利用一切機(jī)會(huì),多聽、勤聽。(2)精聽為主,泛聽為輔,精泛結(jié)合。在聽力訓(xùn)練的過(guò)程中,有的材料要仔細(xì)聽,注意用精聽來(lái)提高準(zhǔn)確率。(3)材料的選取要難易適度,并注意趣味性。(4)注重詞匯量的擴(kuò)大,尤其注意歸納一些詞組、習(xí)語(yǔ)的用法;了解口語(yǔ)表達(dá)特點(diǎn)。(5)重視語(yǔ)音,掌握正確的語(yǔ)音語(yǔ)調(diào)。(6)要學(xué)會(huì)區(qū)分主要信息與次要信息并忽略次要信息。(7)聽力提高并非“聽力”提高。它其實(shí)代表著英語(yǔ)綜合能力的提高,即發(fā)音、詞匯、詞組、習(xí)語(yǔ)、文化思維等諸方面能力的提高。(8)增加對(duì)英美文化的了解。(9)注意課堂教學(xué)的趣味性。補(bǔ)充一些學(xué)生感興趣同時(shí)又貼近生活的一些資料,既提高學(xué)生的聽力,又?jǐn)U大學(xué)生的知識(shí)面,同時(shí)也活躍課堂氣氛。
3.2 提高口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力 口語(yǔ)能力的提高也是這次四、六級(jí)考試改革的目的。衡量英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)水平有四大要點(diǎn):(1)語(yǔ)音、語(yǔ)調(diào)是否正確,口齒是否清楚;(2)會(huì)話的流利程度;(3)表達(dá)當(dāng)中語(yǔ)法是否正確,用詞是否恰當(dāng),是否符合英語(yǔ)表達(dá)習(xí)慣;(4)內(nèi)容是否充實(shí),邏輯是否清楚。
總的來(lái)說(shuō),要提高口語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力,具體在教學(xué)中應(yīng)注意以下幾點(diǎn):(1)加強(qiáng)文化導(dǎo)入,創(chuàng)造濃厚的英語(yǔ)文化氛圍。(2)學(xué)生要熟練掌握口語(yǔ),就必須掌握范圍廣闊的、基本得當(dāng)?shù)娜粘S谜Z(yǔ),以服務(wù)于交流目的。(3)以主題為基礎(chǔ)的訓(xùn)練法。這可使說(shuō)和寫的訓(xùn)練更為有序,目的更為明確。(4)要循序漸進(jìn),持之以恒,充分發(fā)揮教師的主導(dǎo)地位和學(xué)生的主體地位,讓學(xué)生明確自己是會(huì)話的主體,積極主動(dòng)地參與到口語(yǔ)的練習(xí)中,而不是被動(dòng)的被老師提問(wèn)。(5)注重話題的實(shí)用性與趣味性。(6)積極開展多種形式的課外活動(dòng)。(7)復(fù)述是提高英語(yǔ)口語(yǔ)能力的一條有效途徑。學(xué)生在復(fù)述過(guò)程中,將聽到、看到和讀到的內(nèi)容經(jīng)過(guò)思維加工,用自己的語(yǔ)言口頭表達(dá)出來(lái),進(jìn)行口語(yǔ)實(shí)踐。(8)教師還可憑借現(xiàn)代多媒體教學(xué)手段,運(yùn)用圖像刺激,培養(yǎng)創(chuàng)造想象能力,創(chuàng)造出一個(gè)圖文并茂,繪聲繪色輕松愉快的教學(xué)情景。
總之,在教學(xué)中教師應(yīng)該合理運(yùn)用,因材施教,還應(yīng)從教材中挖掘和創(chuàng)新,通過(guò)不同方式把課內(nèi)外口語(yǔ)訓(xùn)練結(jié)合起來(lái),讓每一個(gè)學(xué)生都投入到活動(dòng)中去,從而使語(yǔ)言學(xué)習(xí)變成真正有意義的語(yǔ)言交流。
